Pointer Layering

OK, this one's probably a bug. I noticed that Captivate will
layer objects according to their relative position in the timeline.
However, every movie I create has a couple frames where the mouse
pointer appears behind a highlight box, eventhough in the .cp file,
the pointer is above the box and at the top of the timeline. I've
tried deleting the box and adding a new one, but the frame will
continue to show the pointer behind the box. It's only on a couple
frames of each presentation, but this really makes me feel it
downgrades the quality of my demos!

Hi BernieMaxx
I've had this happen as well. This may be voodoo, but it
seems to work for me. So give it a go and maybe it will work for
you too!
On the errant slides where the pointer is being covered up:
1. Click the mouse pointer object in the timeline and drag it
to the bottom of the stack
2. Repeat the process for all affected slides
3. Save and close the movie
4. Reopen the movie, revisit each of the slides and drag the
mouse pointer back to the top of the stack
Now save and preview or publish. See if the problem is
corrected. With any luck and if my trick does what I believe it
does, you should be set!
Cheers... Rick

  • About label Oracle Map Builder

    Hello! I have a question about Oracle Map Builder.
    There are three layers in basemap: the first - a polyline, the second - a point, and the third - a polygon with a solid color (top). Labels are included to the first two signatures. While viewing the map shows a third (polygon) layer, and the signature of the first two.
    Question: Is there a possibility to remove the appearance of signatures of the lower layers (disabling signatures by minimum scale for display is not suitable, as they are used outside of polygon layer), and how to do it?
    Thank you!

    I'm not sure I understand the question. Here's is my assumption of what the question is.
    You have three layers in a basemap : a polyline, a point, and a polygon in that order. That is polyline rendered first, points on top of it, and then the color-filled polygon layer on top of those two.
    The part I don't understand is what you mean by signatures of the polyline and point layers.
    Anyway, if the solid color-filled polygon layer is rendered last (i.e. on top) then the other two layers should not be visible at all unless their extent (the area they cover) differs from the extent for the polygon layer or the polygon layer does not completely cover the map extent or it's not a solid color fill but one with some transparency setting.
    Scale ranges can be applied to each layer when adding them to a basemap in MapBuilder. Choose the scale mode (e.g. ratio) and set the max and min scale values for each layer. e.g.
    <?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
    <map_definition>
    <theme name="STATES_DENSITY" min_scale="Infinity" max_scale="2.5E7" scale_mode="RATIO"/>
    <theme name="COUNTY_POPDENSITY" min_scale="2.5E7" max_scale="0.0" scale_mode="RATIO"/>
    <theme name="HIGHWAYS_LINE"/>
    <theme name="CITIES" min_scale="1000000.0" max_scale="1000.0" scale_mode="RATIO"/>
    </map_definition>
    The above says render the states_density layer while zoomed out to the full extent and up until the user zooms in to a 1:250,000,000 scale. When zoomed in further do not render/display the states population density layer. Display the county population density instead. Always display the highways. And start to display cities when the map in zoomed to 1:1,000,000 and up until 1:1,000 scale.
    If you want to set the labeling scale ranges on a per layer (theme) basis then set it using the Other Properties panel in Map Builder. For the Cities layer above the styling rule with label scale ranges set is:
    <styling_rules>
    <scale_ranges>
    <mode> RATIO </mode>
    <min_labeling_scale> 1.0E8 </min_labeling_scale>
    <max_labeling_scale> 10000.0 </max_labeling_scale>
    </scale_ranges>
    <rule>
    <features style="M.ALL_CITY_L1_8X8"> (POP90 &gt; 1000000) </features>
    <label column="CITY" style="T.S03_CITIES_L1"> 1 </label>
    </rule>
    </styling_rules>
    i.e. show city names from 1:100,000,000 till 1:10,000
    1/100,000,000 is a smaller number than 1/10,000
    Hope this helps.

  • In Flash CS4, how do you select multiple anchor points across separate layers?

    I am talking about anchor points on a line, not a keyframe. They are also called "handles". I can select the anchor points as "white" quickly, but I can't get them to be "solid"without doing it layer by layer, which is tedious. What I want is way to select lines that are in different layers and get the points I selected in a way similar to the regular selection tool or free transform tool. I have been trying to do this all day and I can't find a good way to do this, and I would appreciate any help.
    Here is an image of what I'm trying to do, but more easily. The lines are on separate layers, but when I select them with the subselection tool I have to go layer by layer selecting the points. I'm trying to look for a very quick way of doing it. When I do select all with the subselection tool on, the anchor points are only "white" and not "solid" as shown below.

    Now you're post was a while ago and I still need a solution, but I have to say this. I didn't mean to be rude to you; it’s just that it doesn’t answer my question I specified in the original post. I know your intentions are good, but it frustrates me when someone doesn’t fully read a post and offers a solution, it sometimes gives a false impression that the problem is taken care of. Example of being "helpful": http://forums.adobe.com/message/2540277    Yes I know there is a “Yes, my question has been answered,” but you know they don’t always select it, and other people know that as well. But you are right; I should probably act a little bit nicer and reiterate what I’ve already said before, I’ll probably get more help from it. It just seems to be a simple feature that seems to be needed to be in the program. I didn't mean it takes forever to move, it takes forever to select multiple anchor points across, let's say 10 layers, so that's 10 different lines on 10 layers. You have to select each layer and then select the anchor points. If there is an away to select anchor points across all layers in one go please tell me. Maybe I was wrong, but I could’ve sworn I’ve seen ideas that were posted on here get taken into Adobe as a suggestion, but yes I submitted it as a suggestion to Adobe, but I wanted to confirm that there was no way of doing it first since it seems kind unbelievable because the regular selection tool works across multiple layers.

  • FAQ: Why isn't the anchor point centered in shape layers?

    [UPDATE: In After Effects CC (12.1) and later, you can center the anchor point within the visible content of a layer. ]
    Short answer
    Because in shape layers you can have two distinct kinds of anchor points - the anchor point in the main transform properties, as in any other layer type, and also an anchor point in the specific transform properties for each shape. When you create shapes by dragging with the shape tools, it's the anchor point for the shape group that will be centered. If you want to animate the whole layer from the main transform properties, you may need to shift the anchor point so it matches the visual center of your content.
    Long answer
    Shape layers are a unique type of content in After Effects.
    In fact, they introduce a bit of the object/group hierarchy model in Adobe Illustrator, rather than follow the typical layer model in After Effects.
    In other words, while you can definitely use them to quickly create a vector shape and then animate that shape as any other layer in After Effects, you also get the ability to create, edit and animate multiple shapes (each with its' own set of visual appearances) nested in a single shape layer.
    This allows all kinds of cool animation opportunities, but it also means that a shape layer is not your typical After Effects layer.
    So, when you create a shape by dragging with the shape tool, there actually is an anchor point that is perfectly centered - that's the anchor point in the transform property group for that shape group. If you double click a shape, you'll see a bounding box. This a visual representation of the transform properties for the shape group, and the anchor point specific to this group will default to the middle of that bounding box.
    However,  the main anchor point for the whole shape layer may not be centered relative to the shape content. This is normal behavior - Note that if After Effects tried to center the layer anchor point relative to the first shape group you create, it would be immediately wrong when you add more shape groups to the layer. Or when you animate shape groups around.
    Now, as many other things in After Effects, shape layers are designed to let you go as deep as you want. Ideally, you may want to try animating the transform properties for each shape group, since there's when things get really powerful. However, if you want to consider shape layers as a one shape per layer entity and animate in that way, you can of course do that. Bear in mind that you may need to center the anchor point yourself relative to the visual center of the content. If you don't do this, the shape layer's content will be offset from motion paths, or behave in a different way from what you may expect when animating scale or rotation.
    To do this, make sure you're not selecting a nested shape group but the shape layer itself, then you can do the following:
    Use the Pan Behind tool as with any other layer (this may not give what you want if you do it after creating a motion path, since it will modify position values).
    Drag the hot text for the Anchor Point property in the Timeline panel, as if it was a slider. You can then re-thread the content relative to the motion path. You can also achieve this by Option- (Mac OS) or Alt- (Windows) dragging with the Pan Behind tool.
    For more information on shape layers, see Drawing, painting and paths in After Effects Help.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH :-)
    I didn't knew this shortcut as I didn't have to use it anyway.
    but it's weird because all the other tools like even the circular gradient tool have their point visible.
    Anyway, I guess you can press H with any tools.
    Again, thank you, I should have ask it before. ;-)

  • Moving in and out points of layers into a new comp

    I'm in a bind. I'm creating a complex moving split screen scene. First I chose in and out points for all my video clips (about thirty of them) in Premiere Pro, and made a rough plan of what it should look like. Then I Dynamic-Linked it to After Effects.
    I left that comp alone and then created a new comp to create moving layer solids for the split screen animation. (Colored rectangles flying around.) So far so good. The plan was then to drag and drop the video clips onto the layer solids (which all have masks) but when I drag it over, it ignores the in and out point.
    Is there a way to get it to recognize the in and out point? The in and out points are just fine in the Dynamic Link comp. (Again, that comp is just a very rough cut with no resizing or animation. I just did it to get the timing down.) Thanks.

    You have to copy the layers in your original comp to maintain the
    in and out points. The other option is to open the footage on the footage
    ppannel and see if in and out points show up there. If they do you can copy and paste from that panel.

  • How can I move the Anchor points of multiple layers to the same position within comp?

    I have a comp of a butterfly that I want to copy the keyframes to many other butterfly comps, but to get the animation to work, I need all the anchorpoints of the individual layers to be at the exact same location within the comp (So the left wing, right wing, and body anchor points are right on top of each other)
    How can I accomplish this quickly? I have a lt of comps to do...
    Thanks all!

    I would have set this up in Illustrator Before you started. Start with a rectangle that has either fill or stroke on a layer but the opacity is set to 0. The center of the rectangle will be the anchor point for that layer when you import as a comp maintaining layer size. Now create your left left side contents on the left side of the rectangle and repeat for the right side. Import as a comp and you'll be golden.
    Here is a sample file and what the file looks like imported as a comp. Notice the x values of all anchor points are identical.
    The artwork isn't great, it was created in less than a minute but it porves the workflow.

  • Problems With Dual Layers Break Points

    I have 3 G5 Macs all without intell chip sets. I have tried this with all 3 Macs so lets take the newest one of the 3. Its running on mac osx version 10.4.11 Processer and is 4x2.5 ghz power pc g5 with hl-dt-st dvd-rw gwa-416sb. I can burn single DVD'S all day long, but the problem starts with dual layers. I am using verbatim DVD+R DL. I have one movie which is 2 hours and 36 minutes it burns fine when I burn a single layer, however when I try to build and format a dual layer I get that message window: formatting failed (its says formatting was not successful, the image exceeds the max allowed size for a dual layer configuration.) That is on automatic breakpoint. I have tried inputting in my own break point no matter where I put it the same message window appears. I am using DVD SP 4.1.2 also on FCP 5.1.4. I also tried buring dual layers on Sony DRX A10 UL-T all was working fine last year. I cant figure out why this has changed. Any suggestions will be helpful and appreciated. Sincerely Bob.

    Welcome to the boards
    Since you are using a Dual Layer Disc, there has to be a break point where it crosses over from Layer 0 to Layer 1, if you have no Chapter Markers at all (or a limited number of Markers, none of which fall near the point which is a bit more than half the size of the assets you will get an error that a Layer is the wrong size.
    What you do is
    1.) Set up markers in the areas where your would guesstimate the Layer Break(s) should be
    2.) Build the project (but not format)
    3.) Format a Disc (in the dialog that comes up, click on advanced tab, then where it says break point, use the pulldown which will have all valid breakpoint markers dark/black, while non-valid Layer Break Markers will be faded) If no marker is black there is no marker in the right place, regardless of you use automatic or not.
    If the message is not for a layer issue as above (meaning one of the two layers exceeds the permissable size) then it can be an encoding rate issue. 2 Hours and 36 Minutes on a DL should be about 6.9 Average with AC3 audio @ 192. Even then it may be too close depending on menus and the rest. If using uncompressed audio or higher settings for video, could be the problem.

  • How to set 2 points on each other in diffrent layers in easy way

    Free transform, rotate, adjust angle and resize with fixed ratios;  these are the steps I use to to set point A on 1 and point B on 2 every time, is there an easy way to do this metion ?
    please se the attached picture will help to explain what im doing and what I need..
    Thanks

    Set the top layer so it's 50% transparent, then you can still see it but you can also see through it to be able to visually see when it's lined up.
    You can move it around and rotate it with the Edit - Free Transform tool, and you can zoom in close while that tool is active by using the Ctrl + and Ctrl - keys to change the zoom.  Get one point lined up, put the center of rotation (little crosshair) on that point, then rotate the image to line up with the other point.
    Fine tuning can be done with the numeric values, available in the top part of the main Photoshop window when the Free Transform tool is active.  Photoshop CS5 now allows you to specify an unprecedented level of accuracy.  For example, 1/100th of a degree (or possibly smaller).

  • Aligning two layers using manually selected reference points

    I am trying to align two images that have the same pattern of thousands of dots, but the two images are not properly aligned or scaled but do have the same aspect ratio. I have tried manually aligning the two images resulting in no forward progress and much frustration. Is there a way to use a series of points selected manually as reference points to then align two overlapping images?
    Thanks in advance for the help.

    Try turning on rulers (View > Rulers). Then drag out guides from the rulers to help with alignment.

  • Moving sequential layers to to corresponding points

    Hi. I'm completely new to scripting and I would appreciate some help. I took a little look at applescript but I can't figure some things out.
    I've taken a short video, converted the frames to PS layers (all in the same document), and trimmed the whole thing to just the center vertical line 1 pixel wide. I want to now take all of those layers and line them up in order. layer 1 would be at (1,0), layer 2 at (2,0), etc.
    This is the thing that I made. I think I figured out the gist of it, but I'm getting mixed up in the syntax somewhere. all I'm getting is a "file/folder expected" error.
    repeat with layernum from 1 to 100
    tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS3"
    activate
    tell document "scripttry.psd"
    tell layer layernum
    translate layer layernum of document "scripttry.psd" delta x pixels layernum
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
    end repeat
    where am I going wrong?

    Pearl Teeth, Im at home at the moment on a Leopard Mac so Im unable to test. But I can tell you that you "file/folder expected" error is due to the way in which you are referencing your target objects. You are talking to layer of layer of document of document.
    This is off the top of my head but here goes
    tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS2" -- Target Photoshop Application Object
    activate -- Tell application object what to do
    tell document "scripttry.psd" -- Next Target Document Object
    resize canvas width (10 as pixels) anchor position middle left -- Tell document object what to do
    repeat with i from 2 to 10 -- Start loop
    tell layer i -- Next Target Layer Object
    translate delta x (i - 1) as pixels -- Tell layer object what to do
    end tell -- Target Layer Object
    end repeat -- End loop
    end tell -- Target Document Object
    end tell -- Target Photoshop Application Object

  • AI CS 6 crashes when I try to export  an image with layers to PS CS6

    Hi guys!
    well, I'm completely newbie on Illustrator. I only have to use it to create level on pdf images to work with it in Photoshop.
    So I installed Illustrator yesterday for the first time and immediately the problems started.
    Ay the first opening I had more than one error
    Immediately following this (before the program started for its first time)
    Then I opened a pdf file in it, select > all , Object >  clipping mask > release, Layers, release to layers (Sequence).
    Till here all went OK.
    At this point All i nedd it's to export in Photoshop CS6.
    So File > export >save as *psd.
    At this point Illustrator crashes every time!
    I did all the update with Adobe Application Updater, my PC is new and a really good PC.
    It runs Win8 64 and with PS all goes like a charme.
    What have I to do? I see many posts about the plugins problem (and still no solution by Adobe).
    I ignore the problem for the plugin errors, and after some reload now I don't have that error but this one:
    Same thing when I relaunch, each time and every time.
    I need to solve this problem and it's impossible for me to call Adobe customer assistence As you can see my English is pretty bad and I can write but not speak by phone.
    Can you guys hep me please?
    Thanks in advance

  • "Load files into Photoshop layers" fails to complete CS6

    Hi all,
    Hoping someone can help with the folling problem with Photoshop & Bridge CS6
    When in Bridge, after selecting 6 images (CR2) using the command TOOLS>LOAD FILES INTO PHOTOSHOP LAYERS the first file will load into Photoshop, Photoshop will then generate a second blank layer and then read the second file. At this point the "script" will stop. I am left with a document with 2 layers. The top layer has my first image, the bottom layer is empty.
    At this point when I quit Photoshop I am prompted to save this open document which appears to be the only open document. I choose not to save this as a file. I then get a dialogue box prompting to save another open document. Photoshop has loaded the second file to place as a layer but as the "script" has aborted I am left with an open, but invisible file.
    When I first loaded CS6 on Snow Leopard, it would demonstrate this behaviour every time I attempted to run this command from Bridge.
    I did a clean install on a blank HDD of OSX Lion. Installed CS6. The command worked without fail for about a month.
    Then I would get the command aborting occasionally. Restarting Photoshop would let me continue for a few hours before this aborted script problem would happen again.
    Over the last week it has become more frequent, to a point where this workflow is unusable.
    A restart of Photoshop may fix the problem for the next batch of images, only to fail again soon after, or fail on the first attempt after a relaunch of Photoshop.
    A reboot of my computer will allow my to load one or two sets of files before again failing to complete the command.
    I have tried the following:
    In Photoshop preferences:
    disabling the "Use graphics Processor"
    Increasing or decreasing the amount of RAM available to Photoshop
    Changing the cache levels or changing the cache tile size
    changing the scratch disk
    Trashing the Photoshop preferences file (Photoshop Settings.psp)
    In Bridge
    Purging the cache
    Increasing or decreasing the cache size
    Resetting Bridge preferences (holding Command on launch) and deleting all cache files.
    In general system
    Quitting extra programs (Safari, Thunderbird, iTunes)
    Sometimes this will seem to then allow Photoshop to load a full set of images, only to abort again after a few sets.
    Rebooting the computer - again will work for a few images sets before again failing.
    Now the fact that it worked fine for several weeks without presenting a problem would indicate that it is not a bug.
    The fact that is slowly started happening then became more frequent would indicate something changing slowly over time - a larger cache folder perhaps, although purging known Bridge cache folders has not filed the problem.
    Really at the end of my tether here. Even considering downgrading to CS5 - but don't want to have to use the older Adobe Camera Raw.
    System is as follows:
    Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 Quad Core
    24GB RAM
    ATI Radeon HD 4870 512
    OSX Lion 10.7.4
    I have seen a couple of others have posted having a the same problem, both with CS5 and CS6.
    Hoping someone has an answer.
    Thanks.

    Hi JJMack - I just re-read your post. For some reason I thought you were suggesting to make sure "Open documents in Tabs" was selected, it was. Now I realize you were suggesting to turn it off! As another attemp to solve this problem I did de-select it today. Seemed to work for a good while. I was getting very excited, then, on the last set of images I had to do it displayed the same problem. But, it did go for quite a while without failing, and when it did I was thrashing about trying to make another app active. When loading documents like this - with "Open documents in Tabs" de-selected, Photoshop wants to put the loading images as the front-most window, no matter what other apps (Bridge, email, web etc) I click on in the dock. I think it is related to the bug you described effecting the "load files to stack" command.
    Hopefully Adobe is looking at this - mind you, I have read reports of people having this problem in CS5! Looks like that was never resolved sadly.
    I'll keep testing and post back.
    I am looking to upgrade my video card to see if it's a video memory thing.
    What is very weird though is the fact that this problem didn't present itself until after several weeks of working with this command with no problem. No additional apps installed, nothing changed. Why would it start happening only after a while?
    Thanks again for your suggestion.

  • Saving Dialog Box - how to save to a folder 3 layers deep

    Finally through the leopard install!! 3 times a charm
    I know this is a really basic question... but how do you save directly to a folder a few layers deep in my folder set up. I click on file save as.... then click on the "where" drop down box but I am unable to click through to the folder I want. It seems basic (was able to do this easily through a PC years ago) have never found out so I thought I would post here.
    Appreciate any solutions.
    Thanks

    Click the large blue button with the downward pointing triangle on it next to the filename box in the "Save" dialog & it will expand into a fully navigable Finder-like view of the file system, complete with a toolbar containing the Spotlight search box (very useful for finding folders by name); a selector for list, icon, or column view; forward & back buttons; & even the sidebar.
    In this expanded view, you should be able to navigate to any conceivable folder location as easily as with the Finder.
    BTW, if you happen to have a Finder Window open & accessible, you can also drag & drop a folder from it into the "Save" dialog & it will select it as the location.

  • Need to find out how to lock a point in a path that will not allow the rest of the path to rotate or move around it

    Hello,
    I am having some trouble with using shape layers and paths to create a solid, flat 'hair' effect in a cartoon animation.
    I have used a semicircle shape layer as the hair on the head itself and then a path with a stroke of the same width as the semi circle to be the long part of the hair.
    Unfortunately when I move/rotate the bottom point in the path it causes gaps to appear further up where the stroke is rotating around the point at which the stroke is supposed to "connect" to the semi circle.
    I have included a couple of screenshots of me rotating the hair opposite ways so you can see.
    - imgur: the simple image sharer
    - imgur: the simple image sharer
    I need to find out if there is a way to lock the top point in place where it joins the semi circle blond hair which will stop this part from moving at all, even rotating around the point.
    But the bottom needs to move freely and obviously the part between the two points will move fairly naturally.
    If you can imagine how a girl with long hair has her hair attached to her head, it does not move at all, but the bottom moves freely. It needs to be like this.
    If you can provide any assistance it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    That is perfect thank you so much!
    Can't believe I didn't think of that but you da real MVP!
