Pooling Issues with Root AM approach
Hello All,
My JDeveloper Version : 11.1.2.3.0
Weblogic Server Version : 10.3.5
Database Version Oracle 11G
i am working on a application which about to go live and during load tests we have identified database connection usage is more oracle support suggested us to go with single root application module approach so we have migrated application to use only one application module and all the other modules we have nested in this am. this approach is good and db connections are also limited to number of users and business we haven't found any issues with this migration. but we are facing below errors in server logs.
the observations i have made during load test with 30 users :
1)datasource connection pool size is 30
2)2GB Ram
3)linux server.
if 30 users are working with the system concurrently jdbc connections in weblogic console it was showing under Active Connections High Count 13
and sessions it was showing 30
if 31 + session are getting launched i am getting below exception i am facing below issue in jdeveloper console and in server logs often.
please suggest me some inputs to resolve this error.
one more notification from dms/Spy i observed is instancesCheckedOutFailed is getting increased 31+ session onwards.

Nested AMs do not have their own DB connection and a transaction object but they use (i.e. share) the connection and the transaction object of the root AM. When you commit/rollback a nested AM instance, you in fact commit/rollback the root AM together with all its nested AM instances.
If you want to commit the regions separately, you must not use nested AMs (in one and same root AM) but separate root AMs instead.

Connection pool issues with Mysql
Hi,
I have defined sufficient read connections (50) in the toplink configuration, I am finding toplink is not releasing the connections in Mysql, this is when run from Jboss App server.
Is anyone aware of toplink connection pool issues with MySql?
thanksTopLink always closes connections, I cannot see how this could occur.
Please include your persistence.xml or sessions.xml. Also ensure you are closing your EntityManager or ClientSession, especially if using exclusive connections.
Also include the exception you are getting.

URGENT: Tomcat, Connection Pool - Issue with web.xml & server.xml
Folks,
I am trying to connect to a MS SQL database using Tomcat/JSP but having issues. The code that I am using is as follows:
Context ic = new InitialContext();
DataSource ds = (DataSource) ic.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/test");
Connection conn = ds.getConnection();
Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
I have added the following code to my Server.xml:
<Resource name="jdbc/test" auth="Container" type="javax.sql.DataSource"
maxActive="100" maxIdle="30" maxWait="10000"
username="DB_AW_DATA" password="tester" driverClassName="com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"
url="jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://192.168.0.1\\Newcastle"/>
And the complete web.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<!DOCTYPE web-app (View Source for full doctype...)>
- <web-app>
- <resource-ref>
<description>Resource reference to java.sql.Connection factory defined in server.xml</description>
<res-ref-name>jdbc/test</res-ref-name>
<res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
<res-auth>Container</res-auth>
</resource-ref>
</web-app>
The error message that I am getting is as follows:
java.sql.SQLException: Cannot load JDBC driver class 'null'
What confuses me is that I have placed the following files in Tomcat\common\lib...
mssqlserver.jar
msbase.jar
msutil.jar
I think this is purely an issue with how I configured server.xml and web.xml
In the Tomcat documentation it states to put the code in the server.xml - but nested inside the Context element. This is something that I have not done as I am clear what the Context should be..
Can someone assist...
<Context path="" docBase="ROOT" debug="0"> ???
what should be the path and the docBase.
I have deployed the following application:
http://localhost:8080/SCWAPP/index.jsp
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ALL SUPPORRTyou should put the code you typed in server.xml into context.xml
in the META-INF folder and this will fix your problem.

Error: Creating a Connection Pool: issue with valid transaction levels
Server: SunOS 5.8 Generic_117350-27 sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraAX-MP
App Server: Sun Java System Application Server 8.2
Jar: ojdbc14.jar
Datasource Classname: oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionPoolDataSource
Resource Type: javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource
[Issue]
Using /SUNWappserver/lib/ojdbc14.jar, when I create my connection pool in Sun Java System Application Server 8.2, I return the following error each time I try to start the domain:
[#|2006-07-28T14:53:56.169-0500|WARNING|sun-appserver-pe8.2|javax.enterprise.resource.resourceadapter|_ThreadID=11;|RAR5117 : Failed to obtain/create connection. Reason : The isolation level could not be set: READ_COMMITTED and SERIALIZABLE are the only valid transaction levels|#]
When I change the value to "SERIALIZABLE" in my domain.xml file, I receive the following error in my server.log:
Caused by: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Attribute "transaction-isolation-level" with value "SERIALIZABLE" must have a value from the list "read-uncommitted read-committed repeatable-read serializable ".
So, I'm stuck!
I can't use the values READ_COMMITTED or SERIALIZABLE since the valid values are "read-uncommitted read-committed repeatable-read serializable ".
Case sensitivity matters.
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
--ToddThe Oracle JDBC accepts TRANSACTION_READ_COMMITTED and TRANSACTION_SERIALIZABLE isolation levels.
Example:
connAttr.setProperty(“TRANSACTION_ISOLATION”, “TRANSACTION_SERIALIZABLE”);
I'd check with the Apps server folks.

SP3 conection pool issue with Oracle thin driver
Hello
I have a single instance of iAS runnin a single instance of kjs on
Solaris8. There is a data source configured to use oracle thin drivers
as opposed to Netscape Type 2 driver for Oracle as per Tech support's
suggestion:
The pool setting are as folows:
Max Pool Size : 20
Steady Pool size : 10:
The symptoms that I am seeing is that if (repeatedly) in a JSP I have
code to lookup a data source and obtain a connection and perform some
useful work on the DB, the pool seems to grow to more than 20 connection
- which is the max pool size. I wated this happen until we burtn ~100
connetions to the database:
The SQL I am using to determine connections on the database is as
follows:
select machine, osuser, count(*) "All" from v$session group by
machine,osuser;
Global Txn are disable on the app server.
Running out of ideas, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
ImmanuelImmanuel,
Connection Pooling in iPlanet is poorly documented and, in my experience,
somewhat buggy.
On your specific problem, the documentation implies that Max Pool Size is
the
maximum number of connections, and MaxWait is a maximum time they would wait
to get a connection. It doesn't explain as far as I can see what happens if
that
time expires -- an exception (which one), or does it exceed the limit and
return a new connection?
To resolve this problem I'd suggest you write up a simple, repeatable test
case and submit
it as a bug report to get resolution on the issue.
My experiences are:
* SP2 doesn't check for bad connections, and will recycle them in the pool
as though they
are valid. We worked with support to get a patch developed that fixes this.
The release notes
for SP3 imply this problem is fixed (534541 JDBC ), but I'm somewhat
doubtful of that claim.
The patch we have required us to create a table with specific data in it
which they test with a query
prior to retrieving a connection from the pool. I don't see anything in the
SP3 docs instructing a user
to do this, so I question whether the bug fix is in the product but the
enabling steps are not documented,
or not even in the release.
* I have a current dialog going with support about a kjs crash that happens
after a large
number of connections are allocated and then released. The kjs log
indicates that the process
detects some problem and aborts.
Good luck, and let us know when you get a resolution to the problem.

Java Connection Pooling issue with Oracle 10g Express Edition
Hello
I have a Java based web application that uses the Oracle 10g Express Edition database. I am using a connection pool to get connections to the database.
I use the NetBeans IDE and run my web application on the bundled Tomcat server(5.5.7) that comes with the IDE. Though when I initially run the application from the IDE, the connection pool is set up fine, when I recompile my java code and try to run the application again, I get the following error each time:
Listener refused the connection with the following error:
ORA-12516, TNS:listener could not find available handler with the
matching protocol stack.
The logs before the error shows up, indicate that the connection pool object is fine and gives me the number of available connections and the number of active connections and so on, which I have printed from the constructor of the Connection Pool class:
For e.g.:
Cache size = 17
Available Connections = 17
Cache Limit = 1000
Active size = 0
However, if I kill my Tomcat server process and run the application again, it works fine with no error.
I looked around for possible causes and solutions and all I could find
was increasing the processes parameter value in the init.ora file. I have increased the parameter value to from 100 to 20000 now, in increments of 500/1000 each time but it hasnt worked so far.
Someone else suggested that I increase the size of my connection pool; I initially had it set to a minimum limit of 5, an initial limit of 10 and a maximum limit of 1000. However if I set the Initial Limit to anything above 17 connections, I see the following log on the Bundled Tomcat log and my application doesn't run at all:
Log: Loading JDBC Driver : class=oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver ...
Log: Loaded JDBC Driver
Log: Connection with URL=jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:xe as username/password
Error code not handled : 0
Exception Message :java.sql.SQLException: Listener refused the connection with the following error:
ORA-12519, TNS: no appropriate service handler found
The Connection descriptor used by the client was:
localhost:1521:xe
// End of log
And the Bundled Tomcat server automatically shuts down.
Again the System.out statements from the Connection Pool class constructor show that the cache has been initialized and that currently there are free connections available in the pool.
E.g.
Cache size = 18
Available Connections = 18
Cache Limit = 1000
Active size = 0
Has anyone faced anything similar? Could someone please suggest what I'm doing wrong here and what I should do to set right this problem?
Swethahello, please pardon me, my english is basic. i do of my best. i had the same problem until reading the pdf documentation 2 days for java devvelloper.it is simple, follow this way.
try {OracleDataSource ds;
Connection conn;
ds = new OracleDataSource();
ds.setURL("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost");
conn = ds.getConnection("userid","password");
Statement stmt = conn.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_SENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_UPDATABLE);
don't forget to Dowload the user client of oracle Express Edition. do the rest of your program and it will work. take a look to the documentation pdf for java develloper. all it is explained. good look -
Connection pooling issue with compiling with jdk 1.5.0
A
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Name jdbc is not bound in this Context exception occurs when I run my web app in Tomcat 5 using jdk 1.5. However, I don't get this problem with I use jdk 1.6.0. The mysql connector version is 3.1.1.4 and my server.xml file has been configured correctly. Any suggestions as to why this exception is occurring - I'm assuming it's a version issue but not sure how to solve it!Use "java:comp/env/jdbc/DbUser" instead of just "jdbc/DbUser" for datasource config
See http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=431734
The mysql connector version is 3.1.1.4Use a more recent jdbc driver

Connection pool issue with packaged application
we are using 9.2 mp1 for a Oarcle packaged application which is talking to Oracle RAC. In production one
of the RAC nodes went down and we see that the wbelogic connection pool is never able to reconnect
This is a packaged application Bharosa which internally uses hibernate and in turn relies on weblogic connection pool
See a few stuck threads in the logs indicating some prolem with the connection cleanup

Issues with JDBC Connection Pooling
Hi all,
I'm experiencing some unexpected behaviour when trying to use JDBC Connection Pooling with my BC4J applications.
The configuraiton is -
Web Application using BC4J in local mode
Using Default Connection Stagegy
Stateless Release Mode
Retrieving Application Modules using Configuration.createRootApplicationModule( am , cf );
Returning Application Modules using Configuration.releaseRootApplicationModule( am, false );
Three application modules
AppModuleA - connects to DatabaseConnection1
AppModuleB - connects to DatabaseConnection2
AppModuleC - connects to DatabaseConnection2
My requirement is to -
Use App Module Pooling and have individual pool for each Application Module
Use JDBC Pooling and have individual pool for each Database connection
Note: All configuration was achieved in design mode (i.e. right clicking AppModule->Configurations...)
1. Initial approach -
In the configuration for each Application Module I specified the connection type as 'JDBC Datasource' and specified to approriate datasource.
Tried setting doConnecitonPooling to 'true' as well as 'false'
In the data-sources.xml I specified all the appropriate info including min-connections and max-connections.
I would expect, with the above config that BC4J would use OC4J's built in JDBC connection pooling.
2. Second approach -
In the configuration for each Application Module I specified the connection type as JDBC URL.
In the configuration I specified doConnectionPooling = 'true' as well as the max connection, max available and min available
What I experienced in both cases was that the max connections seem to be ignored as the number of connection as reported by the database (v$session) was exceeded by more than 10.
In addition to this once the load was removed the number of JDBC connecitons did not drop (I would have expected it to drop to max available connections)
My questions are -
1. When specifying to use a 'JDBC Datasource' style of connection, is it in fact OC4J that is then responsible for pooling JDBC connections? And in this case should BC4J's doConnectionPooling parameter be set to true or false?
2. Are there any known issues with the use of the JDBC Conneciton Pool as stated by the above to approaches?Thanks for the additional info. Please see my comments. below.
Sorry should have been more specififc -
1. Is each application pool using a different JDBC user? You mentioned DatabaseConnection1 and DatabaseConnection2
above; are these connections to different schemas / users? If so, BC4J will create a separate connection pool for each
JDBC user. Each connection pool will have its own maximum pool size.
Each 'DatabaseConnection' refers to a different database, actually hosted on a seperate physical server, different
schema and different user.BC4J will maintain a separate connection pool for each permutation of JDBC URL / schema. If each user is connecting
to a different DB instance then I would expect no greater than 10 DB sessions. However, if a DB instance is hosting
more than user then I would expect greater than 10 DB sessions (though still no more than 10 DB sessions per user).
2. Are all the v$session sessions related to the JDBC clients? There should be at least one additional database
session which will be related to the session that is querying v$session.
When querying the v$session table I specifically look for connections from the user in quesiton and from the machine
name in question and in doing so eliminate the database system's connections, as well as the query tools'
connection. One area I'm not sure about is the connection BC4J uses to write to its temporary tables. I am using
Stateless release mode and have not explicetly stated to save to the database but I'm wondering if it still does if so
and how does it come into the equation with max connections?BC4J's internal connections are also pooled and the limits apply as mentioned above. So, if you have specified
internal connection info for a schema which is different than the users above I would expect the additional conns.
One helpful diagnostic tool, albeit programmatic, might be to print the information about the connection pools after
your test client(s) have finished. This may be accomplished as follows:
// get a reference to the BC4J connection pool manager
import oracle.jbo.server.ConnectionPoolManagerFactory;
import oracle.jbo.server.ConnectionPoolManagerImpl;
import oracle.jbo.pool.ResourcePool;
import java.io.PrintWriter;
import java.util.Enumeration;
// get the ConnectionPoolManager. assume that it is an instance of the supplied manager
ConnectionPoolManagerImpl mgr = (ConnectionPoolManagerImpl)ConnectionPoolManagerFactory.getConnectionPoolManager();
Enumeration keys = mgr.getResourcePoolKeys();
PrintWriter pw = new PrintWriter(System.out, true);
while (keys.hasMoreElements())
Object key = keys.nextElement();
ResourcePool pool = (ResourcePool)mgr.getResourcePool(key);
System.out.println("Dumping pool statistics for pool: " + key);
pool.dumpPoolStatistics(pw);

Issue With Search Help in Module Pool
Dear All,
I have an Issue with Search help. I have created a Module Pool Program. In this module pool, User requires the search helps for the fields.
Imagine there are 3 fields on a screen. Field1, field2 and field3.
Field2 entries depends on field1 and field3 entries depends on field1 and field2.
I have created a collective search help. and created the corresponding Ztables to maintain the search help entries.
Now I assigned the same collective search help to both the fields . i.e. field2 and field3. But when i execute the module pool program, and press F4 on these fields , the data shown is write. BUT for the 3rd field, when I select F4, The second field values are transfered to the screen, instead of third field value.
Any Idea will be appreciated .
Help me , Its very Urgent.
Regards,Did you check the screen field names & search help name? is it identical & unique?

DNS Issues with Hyper-V 2012 R2 VDI Pooled Desktop Deployment
Good afternoon all!
We are running a POC VDI deployment on a Nutanix system, and I am having a DNS issue. I would appreciate some help trying to figure this out. Two situations that are causing issues that I can see:
1. VMs go into a saved state if not being used: This in itself is not an issue, and I see it as a way to save resources not being used; however, if a VM is saved for a few days, the DHCP address often gets reassigned. Now if users are connecting, and that
saved VM with the stale address is called to wake up, the VM is not found.
2. Recreating the pool after updating the golden image: This is the bigger issue. After a couple days of running smoothly, I was asked by my pilot users to add Firefox. I installed it and recreated all the VMs in the pool. When this happened, they all got
new IPs, but the old DNS records were not updated. This made the broker unable to find a single VM in the pool. I could not ping a single one.
Has anybody else run into these DNS issues with a VDI deployment? If so, what did you do to resolve it? If not, have any ideas on what is going on here?
Thank you in advance!
EricHi Eric,
As per my research, I can say that the default behavior. When we will recreate the VM it will change the IP address dynamically. But from your description it seems the DNS record is not getting update and due to that you can’t find your VM with hostname or
IP. But for this you can set one option under DNS server with which DNS record can update the new IP address. The option you need to set is “Dynamic updates>Nonsecure and Secure” under general properties in sites. You can check below snap.
Hope it helps!
Thanks.

I am working on Security scan(to avoid cross site forgery) with the CSRF approach of tomcat(apache-tomcat-6.0.32) but I am getting following issue with firefox:
1. Firefox is not supporting CSRF provided by tomcat in a proper way firefox creating multiple sessions.
2. Whenever any exception (like JSP exception) comes on page. Firefox redirects it to CSRFPreventionFilter and this filter creates new session.
3. Sometimes while traversing through application also CSRFPreventionFilter filter creates new session.I seem to have fixed it by putting <div class="clearfloat"></div> after the navigation bar?

Issues with running Server 2012R2 Essentials as an Offline Standalone Root CA?
Hi everyone,
I've searched this forum as well as Google and have not been able to find any concrete answers so I am hoping one of you experts will be able to assist me.
I have an all Windows 2008 server/domain enviroment. I was looking at implementing a two-tier PKI with an offline, standalone root CA and an enterprise issuing CA (2008 member server). Budgets are tight so I was hoping
I could get away with using Server 2012R2 Essentials as the offline standalone root.
It is my understanding that 2012 Essentials is configured as a DC by default and needs to remain that way per licensing. I know the recommended configuration for an offline root would be to have the server be in a workgroup and not
on a domain.
So question 1 is will 2012 Essentials work as an offline standalone root?
Question 2 is will there be any issues with it running as described? In other words will the fact that it is the sole DC in its own domain cause issues with its use as an offline root?
Thank you in advance for your help!The essentials experience role runs on server standard and is very different from the essentials product in both licensing and pricing. While you can indeed buy standard and deploy the essentials experience role as a "standalone" server, there
would be ZERO benefit in a PKI offline root scenario the essentials role has no automation or configuration options in the dashboard for that use case, and pricing, you'd still be paying for server standard.
The essentials product (or SKU) has the benefit of reduced cost, but cannot be deployed standalone and has enough other restrictions that it is not well suited for the given desired use.
So either way, my answer stands. Essentials (prodct it role) is not the right tool for the job in this case. -
Bios issues with k8n neo2, turn of memory test, and dmi pool data
Hey guys.
I recently flashed my bios to the 1.9's for the K8n neo2 running in my main machine.
Everything went ok for the most part, though i had some issues with boot record, and boot.cfg file. That stuff is all worked out now.
However, with this bios, I constantly get the extended memory test, on my 2 gigs of ram. The old bios i had, 1.4's, didnt do that. Is there an option to turn that off? I cant seem to find it any where?
My 2nd question is this, after this bios upgrade, my verifying dmi pool data takes longer then it used to, if it even did it before, im not sure, because my boot sequence was much faster.
How can I get rid of the "verifying dmi pool data" or speed it up?
Thanks guysTried to used the Bios 1c by Syar's. His bios is nice and easy. Maybe bould solve your problem.BTW do used liveupdate to flashed your Bios or is it manual? Stay away from using liveupdate as it causing a lot problems. Manual is the best way. Refer to my sig for the manual flashing. Here's the location of the files for the Bios 1C. Gd luck.

Issues with WebForm performance
Hi,
We had migrated a new application from UAT to PROD and we encounter webform performance issues with the following actions..
After login, the first form you open it is
always slow. After this you can switch from one form to another without a
delay.
Then once you change any data – the next time
you access a form it gets delayed.
The point to be noted is, it doesnt have any performance issues in the UAT environment and the configuration settings,essbase cache settings are all the same. We did try to move the EPM system to a new server to see if this is a hardware issue but no luck, the performance issues still exist. The consumption of the CPU/memory has been checked and it is proved that the form opening delay has nothing to do with lack of memory.
The JVM head settings is set up at 4GB which is infact higher than that of the UAT environment(2GB).
runs on Windows server2008,11.1.2.1.600 EPM serve, has planning,reporting,foundation on one server (32GB ram) and essbase on another server (32GB ram). Any help is appreciated.
Please find attached the planning logs below and there is nothing mentioned in the hyperionplanning error logs.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
