Poor throughput for inserting/removing

In our solution, we are trying to use Oracle Timesten In-Memory Database to store session information. And Oracle Timesten Database cache to cache business entities from backend Oracle Database. When the session initialed, the session(with session id) information is stored into session table (some columns are VARBINARY type) . During the session lifecycle, the entities are updated. After the session terminated, the session is removed from session table.
And the test environment,
Timesten 11.2.1.4.0,
OS: HP-UX on pa-risc and has 16 CPUs (16* 1GHz).
And I set the working thread to 16. inserting and removing session maybe use different threads. Thread-connection binding mechanism is used.
During testing, with low stress, the average time for inserting is about 1.5 ms, and removing is about 0.5 ms. While, in high stress, the inserting and removing are about 10 ms. And average CPU usage is less than 30%. From monitor, LOCK_GRANTS_WAIT is becoming larger and larger. with iostat, the bps is about 14000
And DurableCommit=0, LogBufMB=512, and default row-level is used.
Any suggestion about this?

Task-flow for inserting record in a popup

Hi all,
I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.0.
I have a page with a lot of panelTabbed that displays a lot of data of a table.
I would like to have a button that show a popup and launch a task-flow for inserting data in the table in more steps.
I have created:
1) one fragments for every inserting step
2) a bounded task-flow having an activity (createInsert before the activities (fragments) to insert a new record), with a task flow return (cancel and commit) to save or rollback the data.
3) obviusly, a button that show the popup for inserting a new record. I have inserted the task-flow defined in 2) as a region in the dialog of my popup.
When I launch my page:
1) I see an empty form (instead of seeing the first record)
2) the data inserting on the popup are not saved
3) the second time I try to launch the popup, I see nothing, only the OK button of the dialog.
I know, in the new version of Jdeveloper it is possible to insert a task flow in a popup, but is it possible, in the previous (my) version?

1) You are seeing an empty form because you are probably calling CreateInsert method of your data control. You should call it only if you are going to create a new record. Also, if this is a new record, you should not show the tabs below. In my case, i am doing like this:
There are 3 pages, ListPage, CreatePage and Edit Page.
User first enters to List page (because it is the default activity in taskflow), to list Master records in a table. There are also 2 buttons, Create and Edit. If Create button is clicked, CreateInsert method is invoked and then CreatePage is called. In create page, there are only 1 form of Master's attributes. After user commits, taskflow redirects the page back to ListPage.
If user selects a row in list page then press Edit button, EditPage is called, but without calling a CreateInsert method. You don't have to invoke any methods if your table in ListPage has a SelectionListener (which is set by default).
in launch listener, you can run a method like this:

2) About the X button... This is the biggest problem of inline-popups. As far as i learned from people in this forum, it is not possible to remove that if you use an inline-popup. And it does not invoke returnListener. But, it does a rollback! I think it is a big problem and i am hoping to find a solution too. Using a popup component instead of inline-popup as dialog can be a workaround.

I need an economical product (under $100) to insert/remove pages and convert PDF to PDF/A-1a (or, if it can create PDF/A-1a directly from my scanner, that's good too). There's something for $50 but it only supports PDF/A-1b. Any suggestions?

As others point out, Acrobat is essential though a bit expensive. There are some very economical (i.e. free) tools that are extremely helpful in properly tagging a PDF.
- PDF Accessibility Checker (PAC) 1.3 from the Swiss Foundation Access for All validates the PDF for WCAG 2.0 compliance (to the extent that validation can be automated). It is far more thorough than the feeble accessibility checker that comes with Acrobat, http://www.access-for-all.ch/en/pdf-lab/pdf-accessibility-checker-pac/dl132.html.

ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column-Update

I'm using Oracle 9.2 with Weblogic 8 server. There are two columns OBJ_EVIDENCE_COMP - varchar2(4000 bytes), Descriptiion - varchar2(4000 bytes) in a table.I'm getting the Data from that table and again I'm updating into the same table with same data after updating the Data object in java.
I am getting the following error
"Java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column"

Here is the way to find if the Maximize Throughput is enabled or not on windows 2008.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters\size
Your choices for this registry key are 1,2 and 3.
1 = Minimize Memory Used
2 = Balance
3 = Maximize Throughput for File Sharing and Maximize Throughput for Network Applications
Be sure to set this to (3). By default it is configured to 1.

How to Change Outlook Default Folder for Insert-Attachment and Save Email/Attachemnt while Outlook is open (VBA)

Is it possible to programmatically do the above while Outlook is running? If so, I'm hoping to make that change from a Word macro.
I tried tinkering with the reg key and that doesn't work because it appears Outlook only respects it at startup time. Similary changing Word File-options-location of documents is respected only when Outlook starts.
I'm looking to seamlessly keep Outlook's default folder in sync with Word's default folder as the users change working folders in Word, which they do many times per day (and they chose the folder among a couple of thousand possibilities).
I'm hoping there is a difficult-to-find Outlook object I can manipuate to get to the end result. IF there is such an Object I have been unable to find it.

Based on my research, I think outlook object model doesn’t provide the way to change the default folder for insert attachment and save email/attachment.
The way to change it is that we need to modify the registry setting and the outlook app should be restart.

Refund for a removed app?

Hello everyone, this is my first discussion thread here.
Itroductions later, can you get a refund for a removed app that you bought?
I recently purchased a app by the name of xRec that was removed from the app Store today, one minute it was there next second, it was gone.
The app allowed you to record your home screen on your iPod/iPhone and was removed today.
It originally cost 1.99 and I was wondering if Apple will refund me my money and furthermore, does Apple refund people of apps that were removed?

There may be a very good reason why the app was removed, but it would definitely have been helpful to inform or respond quickly to users who purchased the app as to why it was removed.

Same page for insert/update

Hi there,
Do someone knows about JSF patterns for using the same page/form for inserting and updating the same entities information ?
2 use cases:
1 --> the user browses a list of objects (DataTable), let's say Employees, clicks on one line and gets redirected to the employee details page so he can update the information;
2 --> the user wants to create a new employee and goes to the same page which is empty.
The way I am actually doing it: I have an employeeForm page and an EmployeeForm managed bean (session scope) which contains an instance of Employee. This Employee is initialized when an empty form is needed or sent by DataTable controller when employee details' are requested.
This is not really nice to my point of view since the EmployeeForm controller has to re-initialize it's Employee instance after each usage.
Does someone has a link or can provide a comment for a "best practise" on that topic?

I think you should consider using the request scope of the employee bean, when navigating from dataTable to employeeForm overwrite the bean with the value from datatable
otherwise the bean is created on every request.

What is the best practice for inserting (unique) rows into a table containing key columns constraint where source may contain duplicate (already existing) rows?

My final data table contains a two key columns unique key constraint. I insert data into this table from a daily capture table (which also contains the two columns that make up the key in the final data table but are not constrained
(not unique) in the daily capture table). I don't want to insert rows from daily capture which already exists in final data table (based on the two key columns). Currently, what I do is to select * into a #temp table from the join
of daily capture and final data tables on these two key columns. Then I delete the rows in the daily capture table which match the #temp table. Then I insert the remaining rows from daily capture into the final data table.
Would it be possible to simplify this process by using an Instead Of trigger in the final table and just insert directly from the daily capture table? How would this look?
What is the best practice for inserting unique (new) rows and ignoring duplicate rows (rows that already exist in both the daily capture and final data tables) in my particular operation?

Please follow basic Netiquette and post the DDL we need to answer this. Follow industry and ANSI/ISO standards in your data. You should follow ISO-11179 rules for naming data elements. You should follow ISO-8601 rules for displaying temporal data. We need

Then the "capture table" is not a table at all! Remember the fist day of your RDBMS class? A table has to have a key. You need to fix this error. What ETL tool do you use?

Using the iPhone camera, I take a photo and then I want to make the photo a little brighter.
So, I edit a photo using iPhoto for iOS and then save the photo back to the camera roll.
Now, I might want to see where that photo was taken via another app (like Photo Mapo) or on the map using the Photos app, or even the Mac iPhoto app.
However, the GPS data has been removed. Looks like all of the other exif data is still in the photo.
Why not just have a feature to remove the GPS data if the user wants? no reason to remove it for them.
The user explictily chose to have location services turned on so the GPS data would be in the photo.
Is this a bug?

First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.
None of my cameras has a GPS function so I never see that data in the info of a photo in iPhoto for iOS. But I do see the map choice to set a location for the photo. Perhaps a reboot will fix this for you.

inserting a single field doesnt make sense if table has more dan one primary keys.
The syntax is
INSERT INTO TABLE VALUES WA_TABLE.
where wa_table is of type ztable.
