Pop up players won't play on my mac book pro anymore

I used to be able to listen to music/shows on npr and sites like hayhouseradio.com, but now when a pop up player comes up and I push play nothing happens. I had the program little snitch on my computer and tried taking it off, but I have a feeling I clicked something accidentally and don;t know how to go back because I deleted the little snitch program but still get occasional pop ups from it. I hope this makes sense.
Thanks for your help,
Emily

  • Brand new iPod touch, won't regognize on my mac book pro please help!, brand new iPod touch, won't regognize on my mac book pro please help!

I recently bought I new iPod Touch 32gb, and It won't regognize on my computer (Mac Book Pro) I had the same problem with my previous touch but I shrugged it off as old age. any suggestions on what to do?

Well since it has not been charging on multiple computers i would take a look at replacing the usb cable. Something could not be connecting right or just needs to be replaced. If this has already been done it is starting to sound like a battery issue with the ipod.
    Hope this helps!!

The flash drive in my Sept 2012 mac book pro with retina display is not mounted, won't mount,  and can't be repaired in disk repair.  I need files created right before it failed last night that were not backed up.  Can they be salvaged before a new warrantied drive is put in at my request?   Also is this failure a common problem?

  • Why won't the movies taken with my IPhone 4 camera play on my mac book pro?

I have used iPhoto to remove the pictures and videos from my iphone 4 onto my macbook pro. When I try to play the videos, nothing plays. What am I doing wrong? I tried playing the videos both with quicktime and vlc, neither worked.
    Thanks.

It's a plantronics 390, and is capable of playing music through other devices.  Why is everything so difficult with Apple devices?  I have 2 Apple devices, and they are both major PITAs.  Never again.

  • Play HDV on mac book pro

it's not perfect, but until the HDV codec plugin for quicktime comes in universal binary this is the only way to get divx and HDV to play back on a mactel mac:
    steps:
#1 Click the application's icon in the Finder.
#2 From the Finder File menu, choose Get Info (or press Command-I).
#3 Select the checkbox named "Open using Rosetta."

    thanks for the tip

  • TS5209 Airplay won't connect through my Mac Book Pro but works on everything else.

My MacBook Pro (1 year old) cannot connect through Airplay to my Apple TV. I receive an error message that simply says, "Could not connect to Apple Tv."
The Apple TV and computer are completely up to date. The Apple TV works with all other devices and my Itunes Library shows up in Home Sharing.
I cannot figure this out and I am pretty annoyed with the issue.
    Any help?

You reformatted the HD, which was originally formatted for Windows (NTFS format is the typical HD format for Windows).
So you did erase completely its content, and now it is formatted in HFS format (HFS is the typical HD format for Windows).
If you want to employ Time Machine, you need a drive formatted as HFS (Mac), and you cannot use it for any other task.
If you want to share the drive content between Macs and Windows computers, the drive must be formatted for Windows (NTFS format), and then you can read & write over it from a Mac if you installa the Tuxera software on your Mac.
Or you can format it for Mac (HFS format), and then read and write to it by installing the MacDrive software on your Windows computer.
Theoretically, a new disk format exists, which is compatible natively both with Windows and Mac. It is called exFAT (also known as FAT64), and is typically employed for external USB storage units. My experence with eXFAT, however, is unsatisfactory: the Mac tends to corrupt the volume, which needs to be "fixed" using a Windows machine.
Currently all my external USB drives are fromatted as NTFS, and hence I had to installa Tuxera on all the Macs owned by me, my wife and my son. This is very reliable, but it does not allow to use Time Macine.
We employ other backup solutions, with more manual control over what is backed up and what is not... And these do not require that the external disk is formatted as HFS (Mac).

  • Mac book pro shuts down playing COD2

i've been playing COD2 for a while on my G5, but poor frame rates got me trying my mac book pro... was quite happy to find frame rates 2X or 3X better than my G5.. however, after i play the game for 15 minutes or so the mac book pro just shuts off.
i figured it was a heat-related problem, so i went out and bought one of those cooling fans that you sit the laptop on... but that has done no good whatsoever....
i get between 10 mins and 30 mins of playing before the mac book pro just shuts off.
sometimes it gets hot, sometimes not.. sometimes it's even shutting off without the fans kicking in..
anyone have any insight? please help!
    thanks

My "battery problem" started exactly like that. When I was playing a game my MBP suddenly shut down. First, after an hour of game play, then half an hour, then after ten minutes finally at start-up.
Until my MBP just started acting out even if I wasn't playing and finally refused to even boot up on battery or then just shut down immediately after I removed the power cord.
Chances are your problem is something else, but it might not be. I just got my battery replaced yesterday, haven't tried to play on it yet. Otherwise it works.

  • Dualdisc cd side won't play on my mac mini intel core duo w Superdrive

Shakira Fijacion Oral DualDisc "CD" side will insert and then automatically reject from my Mac Mini - Intel Core Duo. The DVD side plays fine. Unfortunately iTunes not smart enough to work with DVD side. There is a query in IPOD forum about Springsteen DualDisc also failing on intel mini mac that is listed at "answered" but for the life of me, I can't tell if you are supposed to just not buy DualDisc or else take the Mac Mini back for a new drive.
mac mini (intel core duo)   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2GB RAM

Mac Mini Intel Core Duo's did not ship until 2006 which seems plenty of time for Apple to announce 'we have a problem' and what their recommended solution.
Why would they do that ? I mean, they don't have a problem. The inventors of DualDisc made a type of disc that won't play in all players, and Apple can't really do anything about it. Superdrives are not made by Apple, it's just Apple's name for a DVD burner; the Superdrives that are found in various Macs come from several different manufacturers, and although Apple probably ensures that the Superdrive and the Mac work well together, they won't test whether it works with each type of disc (usually, the manufacturer will).
However, that is probably limited to redbook/standards-compliant discs; since a DualDisc's CD side doesn't comply with any standard other than "DualDisc", and because it is not considered important enough to be officially supported by most (if not all) manufacturers, they probably won't test them since they're bound to get mixed results anyway.
Similarly I don't remember seeing a "strictly redbook only" disclaimer on any of the media available from Apple describing the capabilities of its Superdrive when I was making my mac mini buying decision.
You didn't see one because it is not required. Asking that Apple (or any other company) warns you that their players won't play non-redbook CDs is a bit like asking that they tell you everything your optical drive won't play. Apple claims that their Superdrives will read CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R DL, which aren't only a bunch of weird-looking letters, but also correspond to a standard. When you see a CD logo on a drive, it means that it will play redbook-compliant CDs. Your Dell player simply does more that what it is supposedly capable of, but because one (or many) optical drives will play DualDisc doesn't mean that they all have to.

I used iDVD to create an IMG file
You created the video DVD, the IMG file, with iDVD and just burned it with Disk Utility. As Klaus1 pointed out Disk Utility can't create video DVDs.
