Pop Ups from Presentations

Why does ALBPM not allow POP-UPS from presentations.
I tried displaying a message using the DISPLAY statement inside of a presentation when a user clicks SUBMIT, the method is invoked.
But since this was a pop-up, ALBPM gave me a Component Execution Exception with the following reason:-
Reason: 'Cannot invoke an interactive component method from a BPM Object presentation.

You can use the "showError" and "showWarning" statements to display information from a BPM Object Presentation.
For example, you might have a field with an "on change invoke" method assigned. You could then create logic like that shown below in a method in the BPM Object. This method cannot have the property "Server Side Method" set to true.

Both showError and showWarning take a string as the only parameter. What's nice about this is that it will show the warning or error inside (default is the bottom) of the presentation. This avoids the ugliness of popups.
As a side note - beware of using "display" and "input" statements in logic. When not invoked from a screenflow, they tie up a thread as long as the end user has the display or input screen up.

What do the pop-ups look like and where do you see them, could they be some other application?
If you haven't already, update iTunes. Also, remove any old iTunes plug-ins.

Prevent pop ups from opening in safari

Despite I prevented pop ups from opening in Safari in preferences; they still keep popping up. I installed two add block extensions but in-vain.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for a file with a name of the form
          com.something.daemon.plist
Here something is a variable word, which can be different in each case. It could be "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," "trusteddownloads," or pretty much anything else.
There may also be a file named
           com.something.helper.plist
in the same folder.
Leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
/Library/LaunchAgents
In this folder, there may be a file named
          com.something.agent.plist
where the word something is exactly the same as before.
If you feel confident that you've identified these three files, back up all data, then drag the three files you found to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the windows and restart the computer.
Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
Open this folder:
/Library/Application Support
If it has a subfolder named just
           something
(where something is the same word as before), drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
Finally, in this folder:
/System/Library/Frameworks
there may an item named exactly
            v.framework
It's actually another folder, though it has a different icon. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
          Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
or
          Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
if it's not already checked.

I can allow pop-ups from certain sites in Tools/Settings, why then can I not also block pop-ups from certain sites since Firefox doesn't always manage to block them?

Whenever I visit, for instance, merriam-webster.com an ad from groupon invariably pops up in a new window.
OK, so Firefox does not manage to block it although I have this option checked in Tools/Settings/Content.
But why can I not enter the URL of the groupon ad and manually block it?
I can allow pop-ups from sites of my choice in Tools/Settings/Content, I think I should also be able to block sites?

The forums would be full of people complaining that you had to go through an additional step ( opening the phone app) to get to contacts. I use the contacts app from the home screen far more often then I use it in relation to calling someone.

You can upgrade your system as follows.
Do you currently have the 10.5.8 Combo update loaded? (if not download and apply the Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update )
First, check that your machine is suitable for Snow Leopard.   It needs to be a Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor.   Check by reading the specs.

Before you start upgrading, back up your files.   If you are unsure how best to do this, the following link is hugely informative.        Most commonly used backup methods: Apple Support Communities.
Once you have upgraded to Snow Leopard, if your upgrade took you to 10.6.3 you will need to download and apply the Combo updater. Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 and follow with software updates to pick up the most recent security and iTunes updates.
It is possible this upgrade may resolve the problem of the pop ups.   If not, after upgrading, I suggest you raise the question again.

They DON'T come from Flash Player.
They come from "adware" and the adware uses Flash Player to display the popups (sometimes).
You need to run a thorough system scan.

12.1.3 Pop Ups from a SIDE_NAV_BEAN?

Creating a simple embedded diisplay pop-up off a Page, like all the examples I've found from Oracle.. works fine.
Starting to add buttons in the pop-up and interacting with the main page... I'm not finding any examples and the
documentation is a bit sketchy if one is just starting with OA Framework/j2ee.
1.. Declarative pop up on a Button works fine from a page, but I have not been able to
get it to work from a button on a layout side navigation (SIDE_NAV_BEAN) on that same page?
I have tried referring to the pop up defined on the main page from the separate pop up region,
and from within the separate pop up region... neither seems to resolve. No "..." appears on the Button and
pressing it does nothing.
Note that this works fine if the button is on the main page vs the layout side navigation region.
2. Attempting to pass back a button result from the pop-up to the main page, from a pop-up on the main page.
2a) To do this appears to require making the pop-up a Parameterized pop up? I cannot use a simple Embedded pop-up? The
phrasing over several paragraphs in the Documentation is a bit fuzzy.
2b) If I map the pop up region to the main Page controller.. it fails as the pop up executes
the main processRequest... unhappy about the aforementioned SIDE_NAV_BEAN. ( a parameterized pop-up requires a separate AM.. and I don't want

Creating a separate controller for the pop-up does not appear to be the correct thing to do, of course.
So... how do we know if the processRequest is for the pop up or the main page?

resolved. It REALLY wants the POP up definition in the exact region the associated button is in,
liike the documentation says... not an outer region.. and for the SIDE_NAV_BEAN, definitely
not on the main page's XML's defined regions... if the pop up is used in multiple places on the
page.. .it appears to need to be defined in each region with an item that uses the standalone region for the pop up.

HTML control doesn't allow browser pop-ups from within page

I've noticed that pop-ups are not allowed from inside of the
mx:HTML control. Both JavaScript popups and the targeting of a new
browser window from within both an HTML page or SWF movie doesn't
seem to work. I would hope that the user's default browser would be
utilized in this sort of instance.
For example: if I load www.cnn.com using the HTML control
into an AIR app - and then click an ad on that site - under normal
circumstances a new browser window would be launched - in AIR
nothing happens.
Is this a limitation or is there some sort of workaround?

Firefox usually doesn't block pop-ups, especially if you allow them, but extensions and some security software can block pop-ups.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
