  • Master-Detail Form - implementing some thing like Post-Query trigger

    Hi all,
    I am struggling to implement an eqivalent of a post-query trigger in Oracle Forms. Please bear with me as I am trying to explain in detail what the problem is.
    Here is my situation.
    I have three tables EMP, DEPT and LOCATION. I created a Master/Table pages on EMP and DEPT.
    Basic relationships.
    Each LOCATION has one or more DEPTs; Each DEPT is at one and only one LOCATION.
    Each DEPT has one ore more EMPs; Each EMP is assigned to only and only DEPT.
    Not getting too complicated, here are the table layouts:
    LOCATION:
    ID number(10,0) not null,
    NAME varchar2(20) not null
    DEPT
    ID number(10,0) not null,
    NAME varchar2(20) not null,
    LOC_ID number (10,0) not null foreign key from LOCATION
    EMP
    ID number(10,0) not null,
    NAME varchar2(20) not null,
    DEPT_ID number (10,0) not null foreign key from DEPT
    Assume I have all the constraints, BIU triggers, sequences defined properly.
    I am using the APEX page wizard to create a Master/Detail Form on DEPT and EMP. The first page is the Master Report on DEPT. I want to display the Location Name on this page also. Because the Master Report allows
    you to change the query, I was able to add the Location Name as part of the
    query. This was very simple.
    Select a.name "Department_Name",
    b.name "Location"
    from dept a, location b
    where a.loc_id = b.id
    Moving on, In the Master Detail Form, I would like to get the Location Name as part of the first Region (Dept Region).
    In this region, I would like to include the Location Name also. So my first region on the Master Detail form includes:
    Dept Id: ________
    Dept Name: _______
    Location Name: __________
    As Region are automatically populated using using a Fetch Row from EMP table (Automated Row Fetch) on an After Header process point, I don't have a way of including the Location as part of query. So I created a Region level Item called Location Name, made it Display only.
    In the old SQL*Forms, or Oracle Forms days, I used to use a Post-Query trigger, or Post-Change trigger to fire on the Loc_Id column to populate the Location Name. Simple fetch like:
    Select name
    into :P80_location_name
    from location
    where loc_id = :P80_loc_id
    However, I am struggling to implement some thing simple like this in APEX. Tried creating a processes, computatations etc, but nothing is working.
    I have seen some previous responses to fetching values from a foreign table
    using a button or AJAX script, but this should be very basic. What am I
    missing here?
    Appreciate any insights.
    Thanks.
    John

    Hi John,
    I'm not too familiar with the post-query triggers in Oracle Forms, but the use of a List of Values (LOV) on your LOCATION table might do the trick for you. If you create a dynamic LOV based on your LOCATIONS table, it can then be referenced by the LOC_ID item on the Master-Detail page, to display the Location Name. You could try doing the following:
    1. Create a new dynamic LOV, LOCATIONS, using a query similar to the following:
    select Name d, ID r
    from LOCATION
    order by 1
    2. Edit the "Create" button on the Master report page, and in the "Optional URL Redirect" section set "Request" to CREATE. Click Apply Changes, to save the setting.
    3. Edit the LOC_ID item on your Master-Detail page, and set the following:
    * in the "Name" region change the "Display As" setting to Select List
    * in the "Label" region change the Label to Location Name.
    * in the "List of Values" region set the "Named LOV" to LOCATIONS
    * in the "Read Only" section, set the condition to Request != Expression 1, and set Expression 1 to CREATE.
    Click Apply Changes to save the settings.
    When you run the pages now, the Location Name field will appear as Read-Only when editing a selected Master row. The item will appear as a Select List when the user clicks "Create" on the Master page, to create a new Master row.
    I hope this helps.

    Hilary

  • Populate column in reports  like populates item in post query

    hi all

    thank you very much ... you are right, but you know what i got used to Froms Forum and i have book marked because i always access it ... sure i post my question there ... by the way i have created another query but how to join them, it is been so long i didn't use the report builder, what i remember is draging and droping the factor_id from second to the first query but it doesn't work ...

  • From Clause query with form variables

    forms 9.0.4 rdbms 9.2
    Is it possible to create a From Clause query with form variables generated from another block (but in the same form)? I am not having any success.
    I searched Metalink. It appears that according to DOC ID # 69884.1, in Forms 6i, this is not possible. Metalink suggest in DOC ID 104771.1 implementating a dynamic From Clause, but when I duplicate the example on my system, I receive an Oracle error. Further investigation from the web form (DISPLAY ERROR) indicates that the system does not see the dynamic value.
    Has anyone else run into this error? Has this been fixed in forms 9.0.4 and I am just missing something? Does a dynamic from clause query work? Can anyone point me to an example or post an example or offer any advise.
    thanks in advance

    As far as I know it is not possible to use block items in a from clause query in forms 9.0.4. Here is my solution for a From-Clause-Query via the 'Query-Data-Source-Name-Property':
    To use the values of the block items in my from clause query I implemented a database package with getter and setter routines for the block item values I needed for the query.
    In the Key-Exeqry-Trigger of the From-Clause-Query-Block I set the global package variables with values of the block-items I am interested in. In the From-Clause-Query I used the values in the where-clause via package functions which return the global package variables.
    Hope my solution will work for your problem.

  • Populate Multiple Items bundled in a single query

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a report in which I have mulitple items that I want to populate. All of these use the same query but use different rows in the query to populate themselves. My question is:-
    Is there a way to bundle the item assignment into a single query and populate the items from there? I want to reduce the time it takes for me to display the report and just hit the database once instead.

    Hi there,
    when u say report, i think its a more of a page showing few items on a region whose values are populated from Database rather than a SQL report which will not have any items. Is that correct?
    yes, multiple items of a page can be assigned values at once.
    assume: P1_ITEM1,P1_ITEM2,P1_ITEM3,P1_ITEM4 are different items on a page, an "On-Load Before Header" PL/SQL process can be created to assign values to the items in this way:
    SELECT tab.col1,tab.col2,tab.col3,tab.col4 INTO :P1_ITEM1,:P1_ITEM2,:P1_ITEM3,:P1_ITEM4 FROM TABLE tab;
    Item "Source Used" should be of type: Only When Current Value in session state is null
    Source Type: PL/SQL Expression or function
    and Source Value or EXpression should be some thing like this :P1_ITEM1
    Hope this helps.

  • Populate Form Field from Post-Query Trigger

    I have a form with some fields like "start_date", "company_id", "previous_start_date", "previous_company_id". Out of these, the "previous" fields are unbound and the others are bound to "my_companies" table. All are in the same block on the form. I have a post-query trigger which runs a cursor to select "previous" values based on the "start_date" and "company_id". More than one "previous" values is retrieved each time. My problem is that my cursor writes back only one value into my form field. I ran the cursor as a pl/sql block in TOAD to test and it fetches all the records that I need. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong in writing the values into form items. The form items are of type "custom" and display type is "text" (I'm creating the form in Oracle Designer). My cursor code is something like this:
    declare
    cursor previous_data_cur is
            select company_id,start_date
               from my_companies
               where company_id = :myblock.company_id
               and start_date < :myblock.start_date;
    BEGIN
        open previous_data_cur;
        LOOP
        fetch previous_data_cur into :myblock.prev_company_id, :myblock.prev_start_date;
        EXIT WHEN previous_data_cur%NOTFOUND;
        END LOOP;
        close previous_data_cur;
    END; Can anyone provide any pointers on what I could be doing wrong or what I should do to make this work?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Do you have several previous date fields per record?
    How are they named? Previous_date_1, previous_date_2,...?
    Try this:
    declare
    cursor previous_data_cur is
            select start_date
               from my_companies
               where company_id = :myblock.company_id
               and start_date < :myblock.start_date;
       l_previous_data previous_data_cur%ROWTYPE;
       l_count NUMBER;
    BEGIN
       l_count := 1
       FOR l_previous_data IN previous_data_cur
       LOOP
           copy(l_previous_data.start_date, 'my_block.previous_start_date_'|| l_count);
        END LOOP;
    END; Caution:
    - number of retrieved records may not exceed number of previous_date fields.
    - not tested

  • Query in Item Reservations Report

    Hi all,
    Can i know what the 'Remaining Quantity' in the Item Reservations Report mean.Also let me know when the same column will be affected and how.
    ie.When can reserved quantities and remaining quantities vary in the report?
    Regards,
    Bala.

    You may use the set_block_property procedure built-in and the 'default_where' property so as to execute the query using the contents of your item (with the name of column , of course).
    Afterwards , you navigate to the db items block (with go_block('blockname')) and execute the query (built-in 'execute_query').
    Hope it helps

  • Drill down ( Collapsible Row ) Report in BEx query designer ?

    Dear Friends!
       I am supoosed to create a report drill down report for Purchasing History to be precise,  I know that we can have drill down feature using heirarchy but is it possible for Us to have PO & PO item heirarachy ? or any other way to do drill down reporting in SAP BEx Query designer ?
    like my current report is : -
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | PO Number | Item | Material / Service | Description | .... ( keyfigures) |
    Now I am supposed to create a report  in which
    normal view
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | |> PO Number| .... ( keyfigures) | Payment |
    drill down or collapsible view ( please consider the heading as data I am not talking about dynamically change of  headings ).
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | V PO Number | Item | Material / Service | Description | .... ( keyfigures) |
    is there anyway to design the report in above mention manner ? you any input will be appreciated greatly.
    Thank you so much!
    Regards
    Naim

    Hi Naim,
    usually we don't do the transactional data as hierarchy.  not sure the reason behind your requirement.
    we can do one of the below :-
    1. To have the default view as
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | | PO Number| .( keyfigures) | Payment |
    and then user can drill down on rest of the characteristics for detailed view later on.
    2. or if they don't want to drill down on characteristics;-
    we can build 2 reports , one for header level information and then jump to second query for detailed information(item level) using RRI.
    first query:
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant | | PO Number| .( keyfigures) | Payment |
    second query:
    | Vendor | Purchasing Organisation | Purchasing Group | Plant |  PO Number | Item | Material / Service | Description | .... ( keyfigures) |
    Let us know if this works out?
    Regards,
    Sakthi.

  • IR Dashboard report from new query not getting all Quick Filter selections

    I inherited an IR Dashboard .bqy and my user recently added a new Query, Result, Table, and Report section to it. I cannot get the report to dynamically filter based on the date chosen in the existing Quick Filters section. It seems to be filtering the Location properly (drop down in Quick Filters section), but not the date. Her result section refuses to show anything less than ALL dates from the query.
    The other reports/pivots already on the dashboard work fine with all QuickFilters.
    In my attempt to integrate her new report in to the dashboard I add a new hidden "dummy" pivot (based on the existing query btw, not the new query-could that be the issue? it's dummy though so i figured it was ok), reference this pivot in the Embedded Targets object I found by adding "Object~Pivot4|Type~9|Target~Casket Margin Summary" line,
    went to Dashboard Studio and was able to Associate this report in to the right frame, etc.
    In the script behind the QIQ date "Set Filters" button I saw this code for the existing "Result_Detail" section so I added a line for my new "Results_Merch Detail" section.
    var objServDate = ActiveDocument.Sections["Casket Margin"].Shapes["Service_Date^qiqlbx^showname^a"];
    if (objServDate.SelectedList.Count > 2){
         Alert("Please select only two dates");
         return;
    ActiveDocument.Sections.Item(txlMe.Text).Qiq_onControlClick(this.Parent,this)
    ActiveDocument.Sections["Results_Merch Detail"].Limits["Service Date"].Operator = 11
    ActiveDocument.Sections["Results_Detail"].Limits["Service Date"].Operator = 11;
    I tried it with and without an extra semi-colon at the end of my line. Is that the right way to tell it to apply it to more than 1 Result??
    Worked with this for hours now and can't find whatever else is hidden which tells the QIQfIlter Date to refresh this NEW query/result when chosen.
    I tried to make sure all Filter items exist in the new query's Request line, one was missing. i haven't gone back to Dash Studio since then and re-saved, does THAT matter? I saved the .BQY and re-processed, still no luck.
    can anyone help? I'm desperate for suggestions.
    Thank you!
    Karen

    This has been resolved. The main thing that kept it from working was I kept launching the Dashboard Studio after I was in Design mode so any time I got to the QIQ Filters setup screen it looked like cryptic code and there was nothing to alter or play with to try and force the filters to take effect, so I never changed anything.
    This time I launched the Dashboard Studio while accidentally in regular mode, blessing in disguise. on Step 1 of the wizard I chose QIQ Filter Properties from the configuration drop down list which pops up the Local Filters setup window, now in place of code syntax there was english-like words & action items for me to play around with so I chose my new result set from the drop down list and highlighted all the limits and clicked "Set Filters". Presto, that did it.
    Also I had to make sure all the columns referenced in the QIQ drop down lists and pick list was in my request line in the Query & Result section, repeat the above, and it's all working great now.
    Thanks,
    Karen

  • Project code based  Sales Order and Purchase Order - Item wise Report

    Dear all,
    Scenario:
    We are doing business based on Projects.  So, for every Sales , Project code is created and Sales order is booked with Project code and subsequently Purchase Order is booked with Project code. (Note:Some cases, few items might not be purchased since stock is available.)
    We want report like
    SO Project code
    SO Posting date
    SO Sales Employee
    SO Customer Name
    SO Item code
    SO Quantity
    SO Unit price
    SO Row Total
    PO Project code
    PO Posting date
    PO Sales Employee
    PO Customer Name
    PO Item code
    PO Quantity
    PO Unit price
    PO Row Total
    *SO line item and PO line item for same project should be parallel , that is important and challenge (certain cases, item in SO might not be in PO, for such cases Blank field should appear for PO Item code.)
    Thanks in advance,

    Your Report is right but a small change you have to make Left join RDR1 with POR1........
    Try this.......

    when user account click the login button, it will be authenticate the user and then it will show search result page?
    may i know how the keyword of words to be put? is it together with the user account box, password and keyword?
    or it will be like, after user authenticate, it will redirect to search page, so that user may use the search page to input the keyword?

    Edited by: luisurea on 27-jul-2011 14:46

    luisurea: I'm not sure that the itemfile and vatfile records you indicate are being produced by RETL DWI batch code such as slsildmex.ksh. I assume you're running version 13 of DWI/RDW? What matters to RDW is that every row from the incoming RDWT file which slsildmex.ksh consumes, is output to slsildmdm.txt file, and that every row from slsildmdm.txt file is consumed and properly loaded to RDW target table sls_item_lm_dm table. DWI modules like slsildmex.ksh do have reject processing, for instance if an RMS.ITEM_LOC_SOH/ITEM_LOC record is not found for data in the RDWT file. In that case, the batch log and error (rfx/log and rfx/error) output of the run of slsildmex.ksh should have noted such a reject. I'm wondering if your itemfile and vatfile are artifacts of an RMS batch process such as posupld. If you're doing proper data validation from the RDWT file, to slsildmdm.txt file, to SLS_ITEM_LM_DM table in RDW, and the F_SLS_AMT (i.e. retail value) facts match how you have RMS/ReSA configured, then your sales integration to RDW is fine... and thsoe files might be more related to RMS sales uploading. Hope that helps,
    Dan

  • How to implement  post-query in bc4j or JClient

    How to implement post-query in bc4j or JClient ?
    Does any one know if I want to select some data from other table after every populate record,
    like someing doing in post-query of Oralce Forms?
    where and how to do this ?

    If yout need post-query for filling descriptive colums (eg. department name in emploees) you should build a view object which includes the descriptive colums by joining the relevent tables

  • Items Sold Report

    We would like to create a report that shows how many items we have sold and percentage of each size sold in a specific color combination.
    We are a clothing company so ideally this report can be in a matrix format for a particular style -- showing the colors on vertical axis and sizes on the horizontal axis.
    Within each color / size cross section (cell) would be the # of pieces sold and % sold in that size for that color.
    I'm not sure if SAP will allow a report like this to be built.  If not, is there any way we can generate a query that has this type of information but just not in the matrix format?
    So, we would see the following:
    Item Code...Units Sold...% Of That Size Sold For Each Style/Color Combination
    For example --
    0737BKSMALL....20....15% (this is the percent of size small that has been sold in Black)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi,
    What I mean by "% Of That Size Sold For Each Style/Color Combination" is this.  Let's say we have a style of shirt available in 3 colors: Navy, White, Black.  There are a total of 100 Navy pieces sold.  However, only 10 of those sold are in size Small and sizes for each color range from S-L.  So, 10% would be the "% Of That Size Sold For That Style In The Color Navy.
    Our item codes are all defined in the following way -- they are 9 characters in length.
    The first 4 characters define the style.  The next 2 charcters define the color.  The last 3 characters define the size.
    So, in writing this Query, I was wondering if there was any way that for the last column of info (% Of That Size Sold For Each Style/Color Combination), it could somehow add up the total pieces sold for the first 6 characters in the Item Code that match.  That would give the total sold in the Style/Color combination.  This number would then be used as the denominator for all Item Codes with the same first 6 characters.
    Make sense?
    Thanks,
    Mike
