Populate Select List from Checkboxes?

How do I populate a Select List from a checkbox set's checked display values and submitted values?
I'm guessing I need to parse the colon-delimited values, but I have no idea how to get the display values, or how to put all of that into the Select List.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Ben

Hello,
Every select list item can be based on LOV. You can read more about it in here - http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31036_01/doc/appdev.22/b28550/bldapp.htm#CHDFGFHI
If you are trying to populate a select list, using JavaScript, you can see a good example in here - http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:37
Hope this helps,
Arie.

  • Select list from query in report

    Hello everybody,
    I want to include a select list from a query in a report's colomn, but the select list should only be displayed conditionally. I wanted to do this with the help of "case when" in the corresponding SQL statement.
    The select list itsself works, but when I combine it with "case when" I always get the error message:
    ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row
    The select statement is as following:

    Greetings!
    Patrick

    Found 2 ways to solve it:
    *1. dynamic action (JQuery)*
    $("#f20_1234 option[value=13]").attr('selected', 'selected');
    *2. process*
    BEGIN
    HTP.p('<script type="text/javascript">');
    --HTP.p('problem()');
    HTP.p('html_SetSelectValue(''f20_903'',188)');
    HTP.p('html_SetSelectValue(''f20_903'',189)');
    HTP.p('</script>');

  • URGENT,FRM-41337: Cannot populat the list from record group

    Hi all:
    Can anyone help me in that problem?
    I have a database item in the block as a list item with combo box style and I use this code in WHEN-NEW-RECORD-INSTANCE at the form module level to populate that combo box list:
    DECLARE
         group_id RECORDGROUP := FIND_GROUP('group');
         list_id ITEM := FIND_ITEM('employees.job_id');
         x number;
    BEGIN
    IF NOT ID_NULL (group_id) THEN
              DELETE_GROUP (group_id);
         END IF;
              group_id := CREATE_GROUP_FROM_QUERY ('group','select name,TO_CHAR(id) job from cmn_jobs where job_type_id = 4720 ');
         x := POPULATE_GROUP (group_id);
         POPULATE_LIST (list_id, group_id);
         EXCEPTION
    WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
    null;
         END;
    That code worked very well and without any problem, but when I change the list item from combo box style to poplist style then the forms give that error:
    FRM-41337: Cannot populat the list from record group
    And an additional null/blanke element appears in the poplist with original element that come from RECORDGROUP.
    So can anyone help me to solve that problem please?

    First, how I can assign a default or initial value DYNAMICALLY to my poplist.Set the default-value to a parameter like :PARAMETER.MYPARAMETER then you can assign the desired default-value to the parameter.
    second, if I have popliste say X for example depend on another poplist say Y ,so when I put the code to populate popliste X on WHEN-LIST-CHANGED on popliste Y and make query then the >forms return FRM-40301 Query caused no records to be retrieved ,but when I have a copy for that code in WHEN-LIST-CHANGED and put it in WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE at the form >module the form work and returns records, so is it any error or exception in what I did.Can't answer that, you should check :SYSTEM.LAST_QUERY to see why the query does not returnany records.
    At the last, which better to put the code for popliste in PRE-FORM trigger at the form module or in WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE at the form module.I would use the PRE-FORM-trigger

  • How to populate 'Select List' based on Radiogroup selection?

    Hi,
    I've a Radiogroup and on the selection of any of its item, I've to populate a 'Select List' from DB, what is the best way to do this?
    I'm on APEX 2.1.0.00.39, and the Radiogroup & Select List are part of a Form Region.
    To be honest, I don't even know whether to use Radiogroup with submit or redirect :-)
    Thanks for the help,
    -Hozy

    Hi,
    I have never worked on ver 2 of APEX so i dont know wheter these functionality will work or not..
    Option 1)
    1) Make the Radiogroup as Radiogroup(with submit)
    2) Create a select list with query something similar to
    select display_value d , return_value r from myTable where someColumn = :P1_MY_RADIO_BUTTON;
    Option 2) Use AJAX.. htmldb_Get()

  • Frm - 41337 - can not populate the list from record group

    Hi
    I have created a form with 4 combo boxes. And i am trying to populate the 4 combo boxes dynamically.
    Here is my table structure.
    BUS_FUNCTION VARCHAR2(500),
    SEQ NUMBER,
    STEP1 VARCHAR2(500),
    STEP2 VARCHAR2(500),
    STEP3 VARCHAR2(500),
    STEP4 VARCHAR2(500),
    KEYSTEP VARCHAR2(4000),
    OBJ_NAME VARCHAR2(500),
    SME VARCHAR2(50)
    In the fist combo box i am retriving bus_function and second seq and third step1.
    i wrote a trigger when_new_form_instance and i am calling a procedure from the trigger.
    here is my procedure code.
    PROCEDURE fp_get_list IS
    l_sql_text VARCHAR2(2000);
    BEGIN
    l_sql_text := 'SELECT bus_function,bus_function FROM TABS_BUS_FUNC';

    lp_populate_list('BUSFUNC.list20','rgcat1',l_sql_text);

    Now the problem is i can able to get the values fro the first two colums. but the third column values are not populating.
    i am getting an error frm - 41337 - can not populate the list from record group.

    I got so frustrated I started over. I'm following the how to create a manual form.

    The problem I'm now having is even though I display items as hidden, there is a column holder on the report for them. If I go into the report attributes and toggle the show attribute off I cannot reference an items value in my logic. I used /&nbsp/ for the column heading but I still get the little sort arrow where the column heading should be. I tried to toggle the sort attribute off but the sort arrow still shows up. How can I use the apex_item.hidden and not get a place holder for the column on a report? Thanks, Elizabeth

  • How-To populate SELECT LIST default value from SQL Query

    OK, I've done my homework, and did not find my answer in the Forum, so here it is.
    I have a Page that displays fields from a SQL Query. The Page also has below that radiogroups, checkboxes, and Select Lists to allow the user to change values in the fields that are displayed at the top of the Region. I am able to pre-populate the radiogroups and checkboxes by performing a SELECT in the 'Source value or expression' of the Source area of the Page Item.
    However, I am unable to do the same for the Select List fields. Their default value ends up being the first value in the LOV ('-- None --' for NULL values). Source Used: Only when current value in session state is null. Source Type: SQL Query. Also, when I first go into the Page when running it, and check the Session State values, they are all null, so I don't understand why the field is not populated by the SQL Query statement as the radiogroups and checkboxes are.
    Any suggestions??? I've tried all sorts of combinations.

    Thank you for the suggestion.
    I had considered that, but cannot do so, because we are using Oracle Application Express more for development than for data containment.
    We have all our data in an Oracle 10.g DB which is separate from the OAEX server, and the OAEX app will reference that data via VIEWs and DB LINKs. We are doing so primarily as an added data security layer, where the data is housed separate from the app, in case the Web site is ever compromised. The data that can be viewed is restricted to a subset of the actual data that is available.
    Since the data is on a separate server, (I assume) we will not be able to set the source type to Database column, because (I asume) that is dependent upon the data being housed by the OAEX server.
    That still leaves me with having to populate the field with a SELECT statement from the Oracle DB. This unfortuneately is almost a show-stopper for me because of down-stream processing data requirements. Have not been able to come up with contingencies yet.

  • Populate select list when a date selected from date picker in tabular form

    Hi Guys,
    I have a situation where user picks a date from a date picker in tabular form.
    So as soon as he picks a date say 05/31/2011 from the date picker I want to populate a select list with 2 values : Tuesday AM , Tuesday PM.
    I have gone through the forums a lot and figured we can write a Dynamic Action using JQuery Selector. But I am not sure how to figure out the day from a date picker.
    I appreciate if some one can give your thoughts on how to proceed. It seems to be simple but looks like a tricky one. I am not familiar with writing Java Script.
    Thanks ,
    Raj

    I was thinking your date selected from CALENDAR ended in a list_item.
    I don't know I thinking that
    well,
    :master_block.itemdate is your text_item where calendar return date selected.
    and then , following Gerd's step
    Create a WHEN-MOUSE-DOUBLECLICK on the date-item of CALENDAR and write :
    begin
    :master_block.itemdate := calendar (.........);
    go_block ('master-block');
    execute_query;
    end;
    or set a global or parameter variable date selected from calendar :parameter. xxxxxx
    in a PRE-QUERY
    :master_block.itemdate := :parameter. xxxxxx
    and
    Create a WHEN-MOUSE-DOUBLECLICK on the date-item of CALENDAR and write :
    begin
    :parameter. xxxxxx := calendar( ....);
    go_block ('master-block');
    execute_query;

  • Populating a SELECT list from an Oracle Table

    Hello,
    I would like to populate a second SELECT list on
    a web page based on the selected value in the first
    SELECT list. I would like to take the value
    that the user selects in the first SELECT list and
    use it in a WHERE clause to bring back distinct
    values to display in the second SELECT list.
    I would like to do this all on a single page. As
    soon as the user selects a value in the first SELECT
    list, then the correct values retrieved from the
    database would appear in the second select list.
    Is this possible? Do you have sample code or ideas??
    I can write JavaScript to get the selected value, but
    I cannot get to Oracle data from the JavaScript environment.
    I can write PL/SQL or Java procedure to access
    Oracle data, but I cannot make the complete connection.
    Help, please.
    thanks
    paul

    Unless you can get every combination back in the first SQL statement, you'd have to do something along the lines of
    - Have the JavaScript submit the page as soon as the first pull-down is selected
    - Have the response be a page identical to the first page, but with the second pull-down populated.
    The other option would be to have a Java applet that can make the second query and return results. Since applets can't connect to the database by default, you'd have to have an app server that would do the actual query.

  • Populate SELECT LIST on selecting value in another SELECT LIST

    Hello
    I have two SELECT LIST's
    1. SELECT LIST with departments : Created a LOV which has all the departments.
    2. SELECT LIST with employees : This has to be dynamic.
    Based on the value from the first Department SELECT LIST I need to populate the Employee SELECT LIST.
    Please let me know, how can I do this.
    Appreciate your help
    thanks

    Hi,
    Say you have two form items P1_ITEM1, P2_ITEM2. You want the P2_ITEM2 will be updated according to the selection in P1_ITEM1. I am assuming P1_ITEM1 select list based on the department table. In the lov section for that item type dynamic query -
    select dept_id, dname from departments -- change attributes in query as per your table.
    set the null value -1 and default value -1 for P1_ITEM1. Change Display null to YES and type -Select dept in the null text.
    For P1_ITEM2 in the lov section type the following query for dynamic list -
    select emp_id, ename from employees where dept_id = NV(P1_ITEM1) or NV(P1_ITEM1) = -1 -- change attributes in query as per your table.
    for the second query assuming that you have dept_id as FK in the employees table. Make sure both fields are selected as select list as display. Now if user select the department from item1 it will update the item2. It will display all the employees if nothing is selected in the item1.
    Hope this helps,

  • Question on Dynamic Select Lists and Checkboxes

    Hello,
    I am new to APEX, and this is my first posting, I have a question about how to implement dynamic checkboxes from a select list.
    Basically I would have a select list, and based on what item is selected a set of checkboxes would appear.
    I was originally using the Select and Submit property on the select box, which works fine, all of the checkboxes appear appropriately. But the thing is, APEX refreshes the page each time, and since this select box is lower in the page, the user would have to scroll all the way down to where they were before.
    The main requirement is so that the user won't have to scroll down the that position where the select box is each time they select a new option.
    So a work around attempt is to create a javascript that will automatically scroll down to that position on page load ...
    i.e.
    function pageScroll() {
    window.scrollBy(0,50);
    But that didn't work, because for some reason the javascript wasn't appearing.
    Is there a way to either:
    1. Have a dynamic checkbox appear using ajax? -or-
    2. Have the javascript scrolling effect
    Sorry if this is a confusing question, I was wondering if anyone else came across this issue.
    Thanks in advance!!

    Since this Select List plays such an important role on the page, why not create a side-region and put that select list there so you don't have to overwhelm the user and his 'persistence of vision ' with a page that scrolls all by itself to the 1000th line to, then , change the options ?
    just an idea.

  • A select list from query question

    Hello all - I've looked in detail at a great deal of posts on this subject and believe what I am trying to achieve is not unusual or out of scope. Therefore it's likely me mis-interpreting something and I'd be grateful for anybody's input.
    I have the following as a column in a report
    apex.select_list_from_query( 21,
              a.reserved_by,
              'select g.user_name,g.user_id
              from users g, user_roles h
         where g.user_id=h.user_id and h.role_id in (2,3)'
         , null ,
         'YES',
         '-1',
         '- Not Reserved -') slov1 ,
    If 'reserved_by' is null, I want '- Not Reserved -' to appear in the select list, otherwise I want the value in user_name. Where reserved_by is not null, I get the appropriate user_name returning the appropriate user_id. Where reserved_by is null, I get null returning null in the select list.
    '- Not Reserved -' which is the value I've tried to assign to p_null_text, also appears in the select list and returns '-1' . However '-Not Reserved-' only appears as an extra option, rather than becoming the display value for reserved by=null.
    So, if the values in reserved_by are 'user1','user2' and null and the P_query returns
    'user1',1
    'user2',2
    'user3',3
    my select list for the row having reserved_by=NULL looks like
    user1
    user2
    user3
    - Not Reserved -
    NULL (ie blank).
    Following a suggestion in a thread from 2005(!), I changed the p_query to
    'select g.user_name,g.user_id
    from users g, user_roles h
    where g.user_id=h.user_id
    and h.role_id in (2,3) union ALL
    SELECT ''- Not Reserved -'' user_name, 0 user_id from dual',
    null, NO'
    and set p_show_null to 'NO'. This achieves the functionality I want. So perhaps, though I can't figure out what I was doing wrong with the 'correct' usage. Anyway, I'll post this in case it proves useful to others!

    Hi Apex Experts,
    can some one suggest me an alternate way to achieving this. I really have no idea on how to take this forward. :(
    Any help/pointers will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • HTMLDB 2.0 bug - tabular forms - select list from named LOV

    Hi!
    Changing a column in a tabular form to 'select list (named lov)' gets the following error in HTMLDB 2.0 when you try to add a row (to an empty table in my case):
    PL/SQL error at column 133.
    Create a table and then create a tabular form on it. Then change a report column to be a 'select list (named lov)'. Save and run the form and the error occurs.
    Thanks!

  • PL/SQL select list from query

    Hello,
    I am trying to modifying a PL/SQL process. Wherever there was a reference to the Application ID, I wanted to change it to refer to the Application Alias.
    Here is the original code:
    declare
       cursor app_cur is
          select aa.application_id||' - '||aa.application_name app_name,
                 aa.application_id
            from apex_applications aa
           where exists (select 1
                           from profiles p
                          where p.application_id = aa.application_id);
       cursor user_app_cur (p_user number, p_app number) is
          select to_char(profile_id)
            from user_app_profiles
           where user_id = p_user
             and application_id = p_app;
       v_profile   varchar2(10);
       v_count     number := 0;
       v_class     varchar2(15);
    begin
       htp.p('<table class="t3standardalternatingrowcolors" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">');
       htp.p('<tr><th class="t3header" >Application</th><th class="t3header" >Profile</th></tr>');
       for app in app_cur loop
          v_count := v_count + 1;
          if mod(v_count,2) = 1 then
             v_class := 't3dataalt';
          else
             v_class := 't3data';
          end if;
          open  user_app_cur(:P3_USER_ID, app.application_id);
          fetch user_app_cur
           into v_profile;
          if user_app_cur%notfound then
             v_profile := 'NONE';
          end if;
          close user_app_cur;
          htp.p('<tr><td class="'||v_class||'">'||app.app_name||
                '</td><td class="'||v_class||'">'||
                apex_item.select_list_from_query(40, v_profile,
                  'select description, profile_id from profiles where application_id = '||app.application_id,
               null, 'YES', 'NONE', 'No Profile Assigned', null, null, 'NO')||
                apex_item.hidden(41,app.application_id) ||
              '</td></tr>');
       end loop;
       htp.p('</table>');
    end;Here is my revised code:
    declare
       cursor app_cur is
          select aa.alias||' - '||aa.application_name app_name,
                 aa.alias
            from apex_applications aa
           where exists (select 1
                           from profiles p
                          where p.application_alias = aa.alias);
       cursor user_app_cur (p_user number, p_app varchar2) is
          select to_char(profile_id)
            from user_app_profiles
           where user_id = p_user
             and application_alias = p_app;
       v_profile   varchar2(10);
       v_count     number := 0;
       v_class     varchar2(15);
    begin
       htp.p('<table class="t3standardalternatingrowcolors" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">');
       htp.p('<tr><th class="t3header" >Application</th><th class="t3header" >Profile</th></tr>');
       for app in app_cur loop
          v_count := v_count + 1;
          if mod(v_count,2) = 1 then
             v_class := 't3dataalt';
          else
             v_class := 't3data';
          end if;
          open  user_app_cur(:P3_USER_ID, app.alias);
          fetch user_app_cur
           into v_profile;
          if user_app_cur%notfound then
             v_profile := 'NONE';
          end if;
          close user_app_cur;
          htp.p('<tr><td class="'||v_class||'">'||app.app_name||
                '</td><td class="'||v_class||'">'||
                apex_item.select_list_from_query(40, v_profile,
                  'select description, profile_id from profiles where application_alias = '||app.alias,
               null, 'YES', 'NONE', 'No Profile Assigned', null, null, 'NO')||
                apex_item.hidden(41,app.alias) ||
              '</td></tr>');
       end loop;
       htp.p('</table>');
    end;Here is the error:
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 153: PL/SQL: ORA-00904: "F109NEWNAME": invalid identifier ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
    I think that the problem is in the table/LOV generation near the end, but I don't fully understand the apex_item.select_list_from_query function as it is written (I didn't write it).
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
    This line:
    'select description, profile_id from profiles where application_alias = '||app.aliaswould become:
    select description, profile_id from profiles where application_alias = F109NEWNAMEif F109NEWNAME was the app_alias. SQL would see F109NEWNAME as a variable as it is not in quotes. Therefore, you should change the line to:
    'select description, profile_id from profiles where application_alias = ''' || app.alias || ''''to end up with:
    select description, profile_id from profiles where application_alias = 'F109NEWNAME'which would make more sense
