Popup messages with forms9i

Dear ones,
Does Oracle Forms9i has a flexibility to display automatic message when any person access my forms?
Like Hotmail service.....When we are online if any new mail comes it intimate dynamically by popup message. Can we do something with Forms9i that, if any person access my forms it should intimate me with a popup menu saying that this user is accessing the form?
(regardless of which ever application you are in)

this could be done using Oracle Advanced Queueing and a Java Bean solution in Forms. We are working on a native integration of asynchronous messaging in a future version of Forms. Until then, this document points out the basic principles:

Hi,
I've the following problem. Sometime the program must wait to open a seriel port. On slow machines, this could take some seconds.
During this time I'll display a popup message with the message "please, be patient....".
After the port is open, the message should be hide by the program.
JOptionPane could be good, but without a "OK" button. Everthing should be controlled by the program.
I would implement the Runnable interface for the showing of the popup message.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You can use a JDialog... this will act like JOptionPane, but you can put on it whatever components you like... so no OK button!
For example:
JDialog dialog = new JDialog(parentFrame);
dialog.add(new JLabel("Please be patient", BorderLayout.CENTER);
dialog.pack();
dialog.setLocation(100,100);
dialog.setVisible(true);
dialog.setVisible(false);

Simple problem with popup message before adding document on system form

Hi all,
We have an AddOn that validates price lines on system Sales Order form matrix, so that if prices fall below a certain value, a popup is show to ask to continue or not, when user presses ADD button.
The problem is that if he chooses yes (to continue), the Sales Order is not added since the button ADD keeps being selected ....
Here is my code:

The problem is somehow related with the popup message being shown: if user says YES to continue, the system form does not continue with the standard process of adding the Sales Order (when I move the cursor above the ADD button is shows it already pressed...).
Do I have to do anything more to force the process to continue, when the user says YES?

Thtas known problem. The solution for this is declare global variable as boolean, when user selects Yes, then set this variable to true and emulate click to add button again where before the message box check if its varaible sets to true - in this case dont show message box, only set variable to false.
The concept of code will be
dim continue as boolean = false
in item event
if continue = false then
    x = messagebox...
if x = 1 then
    continue = true
     items.item("1").click
end if
else
continue = false
end if

thats not possible...
you can't close the parent browser window(except IE).. you can only close the window that is opened by you... with window.open('');

I want to give user an option from popup box with the message "Are you sure to Save you record".
I got below javascript code but don't know how to show two buttons on popup if user wants to recheck before final saving then he should click CANCEL otherwise SAVE button.

For your requirement, you can use the JavaScript Confirm Box which will contains two buttons in a popup window.
Here is a demo about checking the value in the “Title” field, if it equals “asdf”, then a Confirm box will come out, then user will be able to choose whether to save or not.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

Sorry... I thought this was Oracle 10g XE form...could you direct me to right form.

The end result would be: 2 scrollable list boxes separated by the word ADD / REMOVE. One to select from and the other box to act as collection box
The popup LOV is quick and fast ..but is a little time consuming

If you are using Oracle XE you are probably using Oracle APEX 2.1, you have to upgrade this version to Oracle APEX 3.0 which contains this new control. See http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.0.1_and_xe.html for details.

How to create a popup windown with javascript?

Hi, every one,
I made a jsp program. I know we can use win.open, win.close to create, to close a popup window with javascript. But I don't know how to create a popup window ,display some message on this window and there is a button on it for closing this window. Just like follows:
