Port Forwarding in WRT54GL Router does not work

When i forward ports in the firware it does not work correctly. I tested it using http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and it still said that the port was closed.

Who is your ISP. When you do port forwarding make sure you have entered the IP address of the computer for which you need to enable port forwarding. Under "Security" Tab uncheck "Block Anonymous Internet Request" and click on Save Settings. After this try testing if that port is opened or not. What ports numbers you are trying to open on your router.

  • Port Forwarding on Home Hub 5 not working

    Hi,
Is anybody else having problems getting ports to forward on their Home Hub or Home Hub 5?
I am a new BT customer, less than a week infact and BT have been utterly hopeless in getting this resolved. All they do is send me instructions for port forwarding on a homehub which I do not need and tell me that i need to pay for their tech support to investigate it further which is freaking ridiculous considering port forwarding is an essential part of any router and this router is brand new, less than a week old. (Do BMW sell you a car and then refuse to take responsibility for a broken engine?)
My other option is buying an ADSL 802.11ac router for £150 which out of principle, i dont think i should have to do. One of the reasons i came to BT in the first place was because the homehub is supposed to be one of the best free provider supplied routers around.
Please only reply to this if you know what you are talking about or have experienced this same issue yourselves. I reiterate that I have not missed any configuration steps on my part and this is a case of the homehub simply not working as it is designed.
    Scenario:
I like to have remote desktop access to my home computer from external networks. I do not use 3rd party software such as 'log me in' or 'team viewer', I like to use Microsoft Remote desktop and had been doing so for years with my Sky broadband until last week.
I have dynamic DNS running on my machine which updates my constantly changing external IP to the dns server so dont worry about that, thats all good.
I have correctly set up the forwarding of TCP 3389 to the static I.P of my home desktop on the homehub (and rebooted and or factory reset several times)
    Result:
Nothing. The homehub displays as though it has forwarded the ports yet i am still unable to remote in from an external network. The port shows as closed when i run a port scanner.
The same goes for other ports I have tried to open. For example, my Xbox One.
BT are sending me out a replacement Hub to try but I fear that this will have the same result as i have seen a few other people post with the same issues.
If anybody has experienced and or resolved this, please let me know and i will be forever grateful
    Thank you

When you do a major network revision always reset the TC to factory and start over.. it simply remembers too much of the last setup.
Plug WAN TC into the HH5 and run through the airport utility again. The TC must go into bridge mode. It then should work fine, but I recommend particularly with Mavericks you use strict naming.
Not apple names.. long, loose and loopy.
Names that are short, 2-10 characters is plenty but make an upper limit of 20.
    No spaces..
Pure alphanumeric.. no apostrophe or any other odd character.

  • Port Forwarding for RDP 3389 is not working

    Hi,
I am having trouble getting rdp (port 3389) to forward to my server (10.20.30.20).  I have made sure it is not an issue with the servers firewall, its just the cisco.  I highlighted in red to what i thought I need in my config to get this  to work.  I have removed the last 2 octets of the public IP info for security .Here is the configuration below:

    Hi,
I didnt see anything marked with red in the above? (Atleast when I was reading)
I have not really had to deal with Routers at all since we all access control and NAT with firewalls.
But to me it seems you have allowed the traffic to the actual IP address of the internal server rather than the public IP NAT IP address which in this case seems to be configured to use your FastEthernet4 interfaces public IP address.
There also seems to be a Static NAT configured for the same internal host so I am wondering why the Static PAT (Port Forward) is used?

  • Technicolor router does not work for Gta Online

I currently have the Technicolor home internet router/modem. I have no problems with this router other than with GTA Online. I have of course, followed the Rockstar Technical Support page but this did not help. I tried every step including Open NAT, port forwarding, and DMZ,. The only step I haven't tried is setting my router to bridge mode but I would like to see of there is an alternative other than just simply buying a new router. Thank You

Your Technicolor modem will NEVER work with gta online. I have troubleshooted extensively and there is no way. Unless you are a computer genius, you will never play GTA online with that modem. Go to comcast and complain, get the new xb3 modem, and demand compensation for having to pay rent on a faulty device. I got a $40 credit today for having paid rent on this crappy modem. I'm re-purchasing gta later today and I hope it works with my new router...

  • Wireless Router does not work

I am at a university that does not want you to use wireless routers, yet everyone around me still has theirs and when i open my Airport dropdown, i see numerous wireless networks that are run by students.
My router is the ZyXEL HS-100W (a cheap router, but it has always worked for me in the past).
When i turn the wireless on through the router's firmware, it is registered on my airport's list, and when i type in my password (WPA), I get the green light in network prefrences and it says something along the lines of "user assigned IP" I have full bars, and it says I am connected, yet whenever i try to open a webpage, it says that I am not connected to the internet.
I tried to turn the firewall off inside the router, and it did nothing, I tried to use no security to see if that would work, and it did not.
I do know that we have to register MAC addresses with the computer department here, so I am not sure if there is a way to do this within OSX or within the firmware.
I know that this is probably very vague, but I am looking for whatever support I can get.
    Thanks
    ben

it was a good suggestion, but i cannot find a place to manually set a MAC.
The closest i could find is under the WAN page, there is a tab called WAN MAC.
in that tab is "spoof this computer's MAC Address - IP Address" and then has a spot to input an ip address (the default is in the 192.168.. just generic ip).
i tried to input my computer's ethernet mac address, and it didnt work.
maybe there are futher suggestions based on this?
also, i am not sure if this matters, but when the router is plugged in, and I am wired to the router, i can get internet, but once i switch to wifi, i dont get internet. maybe that will help.
    thanks

  • WRT110 Firmware Upgrade Crashed IE8, Router Does Not Work

Last night, at 2:30am EST I felt the need to upgrade the firmware on my router.  I downloaded the latest firmware for the WRT110 v1.0 and attempted to upgrade the firmware. Close to the end of the firmware upgrade process IE8 crashed and left my router in a state of limbo.
I called Linksys support only for them to tell me that I have 3 options (all which included paying money to them) :
Pay $40 to add 6 months of extended warranty to the router and support for it
Pay $30 for a one time support call
Buy a new router through them with waived shipping.
This wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear at 3 am, so naturally I was quite irritated.  Of course, the supervisor asking me if I was sure I downloaded the correct firmware and telling me to go on the internet when it's obviously not working really did not help either.
I tried the two reset options suggested by the forums here and the supervisor on the phone, pressing down the reset button for 30 seconds and pressing it down for a minute and unplugging for 30 seconds.  Neither worked, so the supervisor essentially told me the router needed to be replaced.
Now, is there any actual way of getting the router back to a working state?

There is always a way. Check this topic and follow the procedures.

  • Mini Display Port to Dual Link DVI Does Not Work Right

Somebody said here that this was an isolated problem. Well, I just got my new MacBook Pro 15", used the adapter to hook to the 30" Dell monitor, and it works a few minutes, then the screen distorts.
Count me among the isolated problems- it is beginning not to look isolated.
Now, do I wait on Apple to fix the problem, or do I return the MacBook Pro while still in the return period?

Hi, Matt, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
The Matrox Support only told me that the new MacBook Pro with Mini Display Port is not supported, but as it's working for 2x1680x1050 with the Dual-Link DVI adapter, I was wondering if the Mini Display Port to Dual-Link DVI Adapter could be the problem.
I suspect that what Matrox Support meant when they said "not supported" was, in fact, "not supported": i.e., they've tried it and it doesn't work satisfactorily. You've tried it too, and found that to be true. Now you just need to come to terms with the fact. Matrox is quite open about it; it's not a secret. See the 9400M/9600MGT MacBook Pro entry in this compatibility table from Matrox's web site:
    http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/support/compatibility/gxm/resolutions/

  • WRT300N Router does not working with Intel 4965AGN adapter on Wireless-N

Hi! I have recently bought the laptop Acer 5920G with Intel 4965AGN network adapter and Windows Vista. I have read that WRT300N Router is supporting Draft-N standard, so I purchased it. The router is working fine on Wireless-G 54Mbps (firmware - 2.00.17), but not on Wireless-N. I tried to enter the following settings: ssid - any non-linksys name;  radio band - wide; n-channel - 9; standard channel - 11; beacon interval - 50; Fragmentation threshold - 2306; RTS threshold - 2307, but nothing has happened, connection still remains 54Mbps. How should I configure the router and network adapter to get Wireless-N?

okay... try reflashing/upgrading the firmware on the router, after reflashing the firmware on the router, reset it back to default settings and reconfigure it according to ISP settings...edit the wireless settings again, make sure that "wireless mode" should be mixed...
on the vista computer, click on start >> control panel >> network & sharing center >> manage wireless network and try removing existing wireless networks from profile and manually add wireless n/w profile according to wireless settings of the router...check whether it makes any difference or not and let me know.

  • Forward to several addresses does not work with Yahoo account

My wife uses a MacBook Air and a YahooPlus in Mail.
It works well except when she wants to forward mail to several addresses.
She gets an error message (something about smtp server...don't know exactly)
When she forwards the mail one by one it works.
In the old days when she was on Windows she used Yahoo's website mail and had no problems forwarding to several people, so the problem must be related to Mail and not Yahoo.
    Can anyone help?

The MAC address randomization feature in iOS8 is great for privacy, but this being the case, I am not able to connect to a wi-fi router that employs a MAC address filter. Is there a way to turn off this MAC address randomization?

I had this problem. I followed the directions to replace the netinfo db's. I rebooted, and started going through the initial OS X welcome stuff. When I tried to re-enter my user stuff, I got a "sorry, standard user cannot be added" error, and the machine went to a blue screen.
This is odd, as I have completely restored the system from scratch (reformatted the hard drives, reinstalled). The first boot up it works fine. It seems that one of the updates must be screwing it up, because after it gets through updating, when it reboots, I can't log in.

  • The parental control function on my Verizon MI424WR Router does not work

I created few rules on the Parental Control section of my MI424WR Router admin page but it still allows internet access.
Does this router completely shut down the internet access, lets say if I set it 10pm-12am Disable connection? I read someone's comment on another post, MI424WR is actually cuts down the bandwidth into 1/2, but not completely shut down the connection. Is this true? If so this is useless....

Parental controls can block all access.  The bandwidth reduction info is wrong.

  • WPS push button on the Linksys WRT610N router does not work. Please help.

    Hi,
I am facing problems of the WPS Push Button on the Linksys WRT610N version 2.0 router which has stopped working. I don't see the Blue LED blinking. The WPS button no more works on the router. It was working before. I did a firmware upgrade. Could this be the cause?
Please help me in solving this issue at the earliest.
    Leo.

when you reset the router, did you notice that your network name changed?
also check the settings on the router if the wps is enabled.
with a computer wired to the router, are you able to go online?
follow the instructions in this page to setup wps

  • USB Port does not work W510

    Hello all,
I am writing to you hoping that one of you may have an idea what's wrong with my beloved w510.
A few hours ago the usb port (on the back on the right side) where I plugged in my external mouse stopped working.
In the Lenovo part list it is referred to as "usb Sub card yellow".
It just does not recognize a mouse nor any usb stick or external drive. I have already reinstalled the usb controller
but it didn't make any difference. (I think the driver is only for the usb 3 hub on the left side of the notebook)
when I plug in the external drive the lights of the drive start "flashing" same for the usb stick, but they are not recognized as drives..Same for the mouse. The lights go on, but nothing else works.
Probably its all my fault, but I don't know what else I can try! Please excuse my bad English...!
Hoping that somebody might be able to help me...
    Paul

I have a reproducible test for this issue on my W510.
    1) Plug in a usb mouse into the rear usb port and ensure the mouse is working.
    2) Hybernate the system.
    3) Resume the system.
    4) Confirmed the mouse does not work.
    5) Disconnect and attach the mouse to one of the left usb ports and confirm the mouse works.
    6) Disconnect and attach to the rear usb port and confirm the mouse does NOT work.
    7) Restart the system and confirm the mouse still does NOT work.
    8) Shut down the computer (a full shutdown, not standby or hybernate).
    9) Power the system back on.
    10) Confirm the mouse is now working in the rear port.
I can do these steps over and over with the same results regardless of whether the AC adapter is plugged in or not.  It appears that the data connection does not work after the system is resumed from a sleeping state.  I have the latest UltraNav driver and utility and the latest power management updates.
Oh, and one more test.  Hybernate the system with nothing plugged in, then plug in a mouse into the rear usb port when the system is presently hybernated and then power the system back on.  The mouse will not work and rebooting doesn't correct it.  Only a full shutdown fixes it.

  • Persistant routes sometimes not working

    This is the situation
We have a MSSQL cluster of 2 servers the SQL03A and SQL03B windows 2008 R2 enterprise on vmware 5.5
There are 2 persistant routes, they are for the backup:
    10.64.67.171 255.255.255.255 10.37.4.30
    10.64.67.169 255.255.255.255 10.37.4.29
Sometimes , one?s a month, the persistant route does not work and the backup wil not work.
We delete the persistant route and we make the persistant route again, than it wil work again.
    What could be the problem?

You need to use root print to list the available routes. When the problem gets reproduced again, please run it to see what are the available routes.
Also, you can double check that you are creating the routes properly. Here is an article about how to create persistent routes: http://www.itsyourip.com/networking/howto-add-persistent-static-routes-in-windows/comment-page-1/

  • Router does not answer

My router does not work with my computer but it works with my external driver. Also I have a PC conected to the router and it works...

My router does not work with my computer but it works with my external driver.
I don't understand the second part of that sentence.
As far as your computer is concerned,
    1. Change the ethernet cable.
    2. Open a browser on your Mac, and enter the router's ip - the manual will tell you what it is. Usually something like 192.168.1.1. You may have to wait for a response. If you do get a response. it will be a log-in window asking for a name and password. This info too should be in the manual.
    3. Follow the instructions to set up your Mac to communicate with the router.
If this does not work, post back with a description of what happened.
