Port forwarding limitations

Hei all
I have used the 10 available forwarding slots on my wrt54gl and wonder if there is any possibility to extend the list beyond 10?
Mvh

You'll need a 3rd party firmware for that. Then you have more slots in the gui and you can configure even more through scripts.
Search for wrt54g on wikipedia to find a list of firmwares.

  • Linksys X3500 - Port Forwarding (limited)

    Hi everybody!
We have purchased 3 pieces of Linksys X3500.
One for us and a couple for an installer (our customer) who wants to make a wireless home network (for a couple of end users).
I have to tell you that we are a distributor for security systems (Tvcc and so on) in our area (north of Milan) and we have a lot of NVR and DVR on our network we need to put on-line as demos.
Today i start to configure the Modem/Router and i find no prob since i tried to add "some" port forwarding...
We have about 60 single ports to configure and the page of device is limited to not more than 15 (customized) slots!!
I was hoping the device was able to allow me to add more slots but it seams to be not possible!
    How can i do?
(ps: i don't want to add an external firewall to do it!)

I wasn't talking about the algorithm of wireless but the one used for manage the priority of the traffic...(when devices are already connected)
and if there's an external device (hardware) that can do a better job (like a "Lan Controller" but cheapest).

  • RV082 port forwarding limited to 30 entries ?

    Hello,
we use RV082 as main gateway and need to open/forward around 50 ports to inside. But during setting of the rules I got an error message "The max of Port Range Forwarding is 30 entries. You can't add any more.".
In the online help is explicitely said "4. Click the Add to List button, and configure as many entries as you would like."
How can we setup more than 30 port forwarding rules ?
If it is this a sotfware bug, can this be corrected ?
    Regards,
    Petr Svoboda

Petr, I agree with tekliu.  I use the UPnP rules with UPnP disabled for all of my port forwarding, unless a range is needed.  They should not cause any more exposure than regular Forwarding rules, and if you use port translation they will reduce your exposure.
    The only differences:
    Forwarding allows port ranges
Forwarding has a "Port Triggering" section
UPnP allows port translation (because it's only single port at a time, not a range)
    UPnP has unlimited entries

  • Port Forwarding To Two Macs with Port 22 limitations

This is another port forwarding/port 22 issue and I've look around and not seen an answer to my specific problem.  I work for a business that has an in-house ad system that runs on a Mac Mini.  I have been accessing that Mac Mini remotely because we set up port forwarding through the Linksys rounter that is at the business using port 22.  This is the only port that works for this connection to the mini and the software.
We are now adding a second Mac Mini to send the ads to a different set of monitors.  I can't set up port forward to the new mini on the same port so I don't know how to connect to this mini remotely.  Is there a way to get into the first mini through port 22 and then somehow communite to the second one through the first?  Is there another way to do port forwarding...or have the linksys router switch from one mini to the other when a request comes in?  There will only be one remote computer trying to reach either Mac Mini so there will never be simultaneous traffic coming in.  Any help would be appreciated!
The linksys router is critical to the business becasue a host of other devices are forwarded though it as well.
    Thank you.

Having set up my IP camera with HH4 successfully, I've now got another one and would like to set it up as well. I gave it a unique, static IP address which my router can see fine. When I try to set up port forwarding, I get a message saying:
"The game or application you’ve selected conflicts with an application (IP Cam 1) you’ve already assigned to another device. Please remove the other application or select the same device."
I am not being given the option to select the same device.
I'm now wondering if port forwarding to two identical devices actually works in principle with HH4? Has anyone else done this?
If in the Home Hub 4 A you go to
    Advanced Settings
    Firewall
    Port Fowarding
    Manage Games and Applications
    You get the following statement:
"Each game or application can be assigned to only one device on your home network"
I would think that the only way round your problem is to have each Camera running a different application or the same application with a different name.
Does the remote browser app need to know the application name  or just the device name ?
If you think about how Port Forwarding needs to function you need a way whereby  the remote user needs to be able to tell the Hub what Camera to talk to.

  • How do I configure for port forwarding?

I just relpaced my CISCO E3000 wireless router with an Apple Airport Extreme and need to set up port forwarding.  I find the Airport Utility confusing and very limited in capabilities.  How do I configure the router for Port Forwarding?

  • Xbox 360/one problem and port forwarding

For a couple months now (since I got my AirPort Extreme) I have not been able to connect to a certain friend on xbox. I can connect to anybody else however. The only way we can (kind of) connect is if somebody else is host and we both connect to him.
My NAT type is Moderate. When I try to test my connection on my xbox it says that I can connect but I am limited in matchmaking (this is joining games and using voice chat, which is the problem named above for my particular friend). The xbox shows the error and suggests that I enable UPnP or open the port 3074.
The problem is that I have already have! I gave my xbox a static IP and forwarded the port 3074 to that IP.
(I have also tried forwarding all the ports that xbox live uses to the xbox. These being:
    Port 88 (UDP)
    Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
    Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
    Port 80 (TCP)
as found on the xbox website...  https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/networking/network-ports-used-xbox-live
I made sure to put them in the right text boxes for UDP and TCP so that is not the problem either.)
I know that the AirPort Extreme does not support UPnP but does have a similar thing called NAT Port Mapping Protocol which was already enabled. (I tried all possibilities of enabling/disabling NAT...Protocol and port forwarding/not port forwarding.)  ---  This is not the solution as I see it
In short: My xbox tells me to open port 3074. I already have. It still tells me to open it and still won't work.
I posted this on the apple discussion page (instead of the xbox discussion page) because I know that it's not an xbox problem. When I had my old linksys router it worked perfectly.

I have this exact same question and problem.  I know this doesn't help, but would appreciate any updated information if you find an answer.  I'll keep working on this also and let you know if I find an anwer.

  • Help needed to do port forwarding in ipfw...

For the last weeks I have been working to get the new open-source content management system Alfresco working. It is a pure Java web application that runs under Tomcat. There is official support for Mac OS X but only Windows and Linux gets true installer binaries with guides and everything.
The unique thing about this platform is that it has a built in Java-based CIFS/SMB-server to expose the content not only in web browser but as a mounted volume as well. However, it turned out more than difficult to get that working in my Mac OS X Server 10.4.9 running on an XServe G5 2.0Ghz.
I can run the startup script for the Tomcat as root on my laptop running Mac OS X 10.4.9 and then the CIFS-server can use standard ports like 137, 138, 139 and 445. Finder can mount that as a volume called Alfresco. However, I do not want to run it as root because of several other issues related to X11. There is a note in the installation text that if running the script not as root but as admin or a designated Alfresco user requires port forwarding. That means setting up firewall rules to forward requests from the standard CIFS TCP ports 139/445 to the non-privileged ports the Alfresco CIFS server is listening on (which are 1137,1138,1139 and 1145).
I have understood that this is not possible through the Server Admin GUI-app but needs to be done either in the terminal or by using an app like WaterRoof. I guess also Apple´s server tools are famous for overwriting config files made by a "third-party" app. However, I can't make it work and ipfw syntax still looks very confusing to me. Any ideas of what I need to do in order to have this port forwarding to work.
I have tried something like this so far:
    # ! /bin/sh
echo "Setup CIFS Port Forwarding ..."
    sysctl -w net.inet.ip.fw.enable=1
    sysctl -w net.inet.ip.forwarding=1
    sysctl -w net.inet.ip.fw.verbose=1
    sysctl -w net.inet.ip.fw.debug=0
#ipfw add 100 count log ip from any to any
ipfw add 200 allow ip from any to any via lo0
    # Forward native SMB and NetBIOS sessions to non-privileged ports
ipfw add 300 fwd 192.168.1.2,1445 tcp from any to any dst-port 445 in
ipfw add 400 fwd 192.168.1.2,1139 tcp from any to any dst-port 139 in
    # Forward NetBIOS datagrams to non-privileged ports
ipfw add 500 fwd 192.168.1.2,1137 udp from any to any dst-port 137 in
ipfw add 600 fwd 192.168.1.2,1138 udp from any to any dst-port 138 in
Windows filesharing i Mac OS X Server is turned off and there are firewall rules to allow traffic on the designated ports.

Ok, thanks for the tip. Had a look at that page and it was only about NAT which is not what I am looking for. I have a server with public IP where I need to forward from one port to another on the same IP. However, I find the information about how to configure IPFW rather limited so I wanted to know if the rules in the first post look right and what pitfalls there are when using the GUI-based server admin tools from Apple

  • Port Forwarding BEfW11s4 linkstation

I am a newbie with networking.  I set up a home network a few years ago and it has worked ok.  I have to unplug the router from time to time though.  Anyway, I just bought a Buffalo Tech linkstation live and would like to use the web access features.  I tried doing the port forwarding but my router must not be plug and play compatible with the drive.  I tried to do it manually from a website Buffalo suggested but no luck.  Is this something I shouldn't even try being that I have very limited knowledge when it comes to networking?
    Any help would be apprecitated!

What are the different ports you tried to forward on the router let me know,,,

  • LRT224: Port Forwarding for a specific remote IP address

    Hi all,
I want to create a port forwarding rule for a specific service (tcp port). But I want to ensure that only users from a specific internet IP address are able to establish a connection to this port, e.g. the remote address should be limited to 27.27.27.27.
The port forwarding configuration page does not offer a field for entering a single remote ip or ip range. Is there a way to achieve this?
    Thank you for your help.
    Matthias

Derfry, what you need is to configure two access rules under Firewall>Access Rules tab. One rule is to Deny all IP from accessing the service you are forwarding, and the other rule is to Allow the specific IP address.

  • EA4500 Max number of Port forwards

    Hi All,
Background: currently have a WRT320N, thinking of upgrading to an EA4500 assuming ONE feature has been improved: Port Forwarding.
Scenario: Currently I have a WRT320N router, and while it "does everything we need" it has one limitation that is now getting in the way: limitation on number of forwardable ports.  In the port forwarding panel, it has 15 total rows: the first five rows can be enabled for specificaly named services (SMTP, FTP, etc).  The last 10 rows are fully customizable in that we can set the name, ports and protocol.
The problem is that of the 13 total ports I currently need to forward, only ONE of them is listed in that fixed list.  So, sadly, I can only use one of those first five rows.  I've now filled the remaining ten custom rows, and still have need for two additional ports (for now, may need more down the road).
Trying to get creative, I figured maybe I could just spill over to the Port Range Forwarding page and add a row or two there.  The only problem: it's buggy.  I've found that if the Single Port Forwarding list is filled, then the Port Forwarding Range entries don't work properly.  For example, if I wanted ports 12345 and 12346 forwarded to 192.168.1.5, they work fine with two single port forwarding entries.  However, if I delete those, add two other port lines I need forwarded (the single list being full again), and add a port forwarding range 12345..12346, they don't work properly, ports just are closed. Only the singles work, the ranges don't.
Question: Has the EA4500 resolved this issue and allow for either more lines (i.e. 20 customizable entries instead of 10), or, better, does it just have an [Add Entry] button to allow for additional rows to be created?  In today's day and age, where one single device (such as an Xbox) can take four rows, a 10-row limit is pretty sparse.  Comparing it to some competitors, for example the D-Link DIR-825 (aging, but still great) allows you to add as many as you want.
I realize "expensive" firewalls like SonicWall's have virtually unlimited customization, but I don't need many of the additional features and don't want to spend $350 on a "high-end" firewall to solve the problem of needing two more ports open.
Thanks to any help you can give!
    -Dan

  • Port Forwarding a Range in UC540 NAT

    Hi all,
I am trying to forward a range of ports (55736-55863 for Synology  Surveillance Station) from the WAN interface to an internal IP on a Cisco UC540.  I'm not great with the CLI so I generally stick to CCA but right now I'm not even sure it's possible with the CLI.
I've found this tutorial online: http://evilrouters.net/2010/05/25/port-forwarding-a-range-of-ports-on-cisco-ios/
The first step in the tutorial is to setup a NAT IP Pool (which I *can* do in CCA) but unfortunately, the tutorial tells me to use the IP address of the internal device I want to foward the range of ports to but CCA (and its documentation) tells that the IP address must be on the same subnet as the WAN IP address?
I tried following the tutorial anyway by telnetting in to the UC540 and entering the following via the CLI:
    UC540 config t
UC540 ip nat pool PORTFWD 192.168.12.121 192.168.12.121 netmask 255.255.255.0 type rotary
    UC540 access-list 121 permit udp any any range 55736 55863
UC540 ip nat inside destination list 121 pool PORTFWD
I can now see the 121 access list in CCA, although it has no Interface or Direction assigned to it?
Does anyone know if this is possible?  I really don't fancy setting up 127 entries in the NAT table!
    Thanks in advance everyone!

The range isn't going to work in CCA.  As you are probably aware, CCA has limits to what it can do, even if something can be done in the CLI.
That being said, I think this is a better write up on how to do this:

  • WRVS4400N Static Port Forwarding

    Hi
I'm trying to get 3CX working and it is detecting that there are issues with the firewall on router.  I think have narrowed it down to the router as the problem still exists with Kaspersky and Windows Firewall off.  Please see the bottom of this page for the results page from 3CX.
There is a description 3CX provide on getting this working are for Linksys and Cisco routers.
The Linksys description is fairly straight forward and doesn't make any difference; the Cisco description appears to be a Windows based Utility with some similarities to the WRVS4400N web interface and setting up ACL rules and as close as I can replicate what I think should be set doesn't work either.
The link for the cisco description is http://www.3cx.com/blog/voip-howto/cisco-voip-configuration/
The link for NAT firewall issues on 3CX  http://www.3cx.com/blog/voip-howto/static-port-mappings/
If anyone has any ideas or can point me in the right direction i'd be very grateful.
    Kind regards

  • BT HomeHub 4 - Port Forwarding.

I need to open up ports 80, 8068 on my Home Hub 4, I have followed the port forwarding instructions but it will still not open them.
I have opened up ports 9000, 85, & 18004 in the same way and this has worked?
    Any advice?
    Cheers.

Traffic will only be allowed back in on port 80 from a source if your device has already sent traffic to that source, because port 80 is used pretty much everywhere for http traffic and leaving it fully open would be just asking for trouble - it's pretty much a given that one of a limited number of browsers is sat at the end of it.  I'm assuming that 8068 is similarly restricted.

  • Port Forwarding Protocol Doesn't Save W330N Gaming Router

When trying to forward ports on the Single Port Forwarding setup page I cannot change the protocol to anything besides TCP.  I can select "both" or "UDP" but after I click save and the page reloads the setting is reverted back to TCP.  Is there something that stops this setting from working?  Is there a way around this problem?  When using the Range setup I change the protocol and save the setting, but then I can only forward a limited number of ports.  Is there a bug in the software?

    Hi.
Yeah, may be it's a bug,but upgrade the firmware and reset the router and configurate it again. It should b work

  • New network/port forwarding questions

I just replaced my Airport Extreme with a 1TB TC and set up a primary network (AirNett) and a Guest network (Guest). I added Port Mapping entries for my computers (running Tiger), SlingBoxes and ReplayTVs (which are all ethernet-connected) and I have 1 laptop running Leopard and 1 running Tiger. We also have 2 iPhones.
The wired devices all seem to connect just fine. Occasionally, there is a delay in the connection (30 sec-1 min), but once it connects, they seem to stay connected.
The laptops take too long to connect to the AirNett network. If they do connect, it seems that the connection comes and goes. The iPhones have yet to connect to AirNett.
The Guest network serves all the wireless devices just fine, BUT, it does not allow connections to the Port Forwarding devices.
So, 2 issues... any ideas about :
    1) why my primary network (AirNett) is not working properly for my wireless devices and
    2) why my Guest network does not allow the Port Forwarding connections.
    TIA for any suggestions.
    Scott

That was my point - all my lan ports that use port 80 can point at port 80, and long as the WAN ports point at something else. The trouble is, I am restricted to only using 80,81 and 443 on the LAN side, which limits me to 3 (not counting 8080 for my routers web gui)
So that means with my two web cams and web gui on my NAS drive, I am unable to log into any other web interfaces on my LAN, unless I log into my router first, disable one port forward and enable another (using the same WAN port of 80 or 81) - which is doable but a PITA..
This is what is looks like on the router:
For example, if I change the port from field for the "tranmission" entry to anything but 80 or 81, it will not work, so if I want to get into my torrent gui on my NAS drive I have to disable "cam1" and enable "transmission"
I checked with my ISP and they are not blocking any ports, so I'm not sure how to get around this, unless I can serve up a page that shows feeds from more than one camera and serve it from one source, ie my router or NAS drive.
