Portal Activity Report with Selection criteria

Hi All,
I have created an iview using 'Portal Activity Report' template, added the iview to page and page is added to the role which is created for this report. Also, users were assigned to the new role. When users go to portal and see this report, they are seeing the final output of this report along with the 'Download Report' option.
My requirement is to give selection screen option (Type of report and Reporting period) to users. So that users will change the selection criteria and run the report as per their need. Please advice me on how to do this.
Thanks in advance.
Swapna.

swapna,
you can do this by creating a webdynpro application for accessing the database tables, the list of data base tables is in this [help |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/48/6aa9429b930b31e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm]document and use web dynpro application to connect to that tables. Check this thread  for[ dynpro and database tables  |dynpro and database tables;

  • Portal Activity Report is not getting updated properly

    Hi,
I have created a test portal activity report with the Reporting type set as Page/iView activity.  I have added five iViews in this including a yahoo search URL iView.  The reporting period interval is set to Fixed Period with the date range that spans for around 10 days.
The issue is, even after hitting these iViews several times, I don't see the portal activity report getting updated.  Only for the yahoo search, I can see no. of Users as 1 and no. of Hits as 4 as a previous day report (today being friday, I could see thursday's yahoo iView report).
Here are the pre-liminary settings that I've done:
    1. All the iViews have the 'Monitor Hits' as 'true'.
    2. The Activate Data Collection is set to 'true' in the 'DataCollectionHook' that is available under com.sap.portal.activitydatacollector Service
    3. The properties viz., Activate Portal Activity Report, Gather iView statistics, Page statistics..etc are all set to 'true' in the ActivityReport Service
    4. I could see that the last aggregation time (in GMT) keeps changing every one hour without any problem.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Yuvaraj SG

    Hi Raghu,
I tried as per your suggestion.  At first, I thought that it's working.  But, the report came out only for one day (thursday's report) and there weren't any more reports after that.  So, I don't think this approach is working in my case!  Moreover, for me the requirement is that the iViews have to be in some other portal roles and the Activity Report iView will be in a different portal role.
So, I am currently checking the SAP Note 1084379 as Sandeep has quoted.
    Thanks for your help!

  • How to execute the Portal Activity Report

    Hello,
In the System Administration -> System Configuration-> Service Configuration Editor
Under Applications->com.sap.portal.activityreport.core-> Services->ActivityReport and I have configured the report.
I saved I have restarted the service to effect the changes and in Portal Catalog
Application->com.sap.portal.activityreport.core and I have administrated the changes. The Application Details Editor is displayed.
I have clicked the Restart the portal also.
I would like to know how to execute this Portal Activity Report after making this configuration.
    Can anyone help me.
    Thnx in advance
    cheers
    Kris

    Hi Kris,
    here an example with steps:
    1. Navigate to Content Administration -> Portal Content
    2. Step into a test folder and right click on the folder to create a new iView
    2. Select the template "Portal Activity Report iView"
       Name: Daily User Logins
       Technical Name: DailyUserLogins
    3. Open the newly created iView and define the following parameters
       under "Specify report content"
Start of Reporting: Date 01.01.2005 and Time: 08:00
End of Reporting: Date 31.12.2005 and Time: 24:00
          Time Unit for Reporting: Daily
       under "Configure report options"
Information to Report: Number of users logged on
You have created a new reporting iView, aggregating information about the number of anonymous and authenticated users on a daily basis.
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • Portal Activity Report -- Simplification?

    Hi all,
I've been working with the Portal Activity Report iView for a couple of weeks now trying to develop some metrics for our company to measure the portal usage by. I didn't have any problems with the user reports, but I had <b>a lot of issues with the iview/page reports</b>.  Although I sucessfully found and charted the <b>daily data</b>, it took a painstakingly long time because of several factors:
                 - There was so much data that I had to shift through for about 1.5 months, upwards of 11000 rows.
                 - I did not need most of the data as this is the first report being generated for the company, they just want more general metrics rather than detailed metrics. However, the company may still want reports on the other data later on, so we can't just disable the collection of data on most of our iViews.
                 - The format of the date column in the iView/Page report did not sort well in Excel. Instead, I had to convert the dates to the more traditional mm/dd/yyyy format so that they sorted properly. This didn't take too long, but it was still an issue.
                 - Unfortunately, when the portal was deployed, and still now, we do not have naming conventions for our iViews. This resulted in there being many object names (column heading) that were the same even though they were different iViews and pages (for example, an "About" iView exists on many pages). The only way to differentiate them was based on the PCD location, which is very long and not the best way to have to look at and sort through data.
                 - Lastly, we only collected data for iViews/Pages that got at least 2 hits. This was fine for iViews/Pages that usually got 10 or more hits per day. However, for iViews that didn't get 2 on any given day, no data was reported. This is what we intended, obviously. But it became a problem when I went to go graph the data because I was using line charts with multiple lines (series) on them (for example, I grouped all the different search iViews onto one line chart to compare which search pages are getting used the most). Here is an example graph that I had to create dates and 0's for because the bottom two series had days were missing some days because they got less than 2 hits: <a href="http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/7365/examplegraphvd8.jpg">Example Graph</a>.  Some of the series wouldn't have the same number of points because there were some days that were missing because they got less than 2 hits. This meant I had to go back and manually add in rows of missing dates along with 0 hits to make the graph correct.
So, now that I've detailed the problems and issues, here is my real problem going forward. The executives would like monthly reports on the portal. Ideally, this process would be as automatic as possible. I was hoping people could <b>suggest best practices</b> for gathering and sorting through the data so that it doesn't take anywhere near as much time to group and identify key iViews and pages. Is there <b>any way to selectively download data</b> about iViews/Pages without turning off the data collection on other iViews/Page? Also, is there any way to automate the downloading of the iView/Page and User reports from the portal given a time interval such as every 30 days? Has anyone else run into similar problems in their own positions and, if so, can you make suggestions about how you have improved the reporting and charting process? Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi Ariel,
Check the database table WCR_WEBCONTENTSTAT, and see if any data is being generated. This will determine if the problem is data generation or the reporting of the data.
If there is no data, the only possibility is that the Montiro Hits is false, but this is not the default and is unlikely.
If there is data, check the aggregationlevel field and the timestamp of the data, and create a report for this period and aggregation level. For example, if the aggregation level is "q" generate a quarterly report for the time period.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to display an USERID on  "Portal Activity Report - Pages and iViews"

    HI,All.
    I have a question.
    It is as follows.
    A purpose&#65306;
iView of EP is used and called for contents of the WEB-AP server of various (Tomcat(Java)).
The acquisition of "EP login user ID" is difficult from the log of each WEB-AP server.
It wants to acquire information on "Which iView which EP login user how many times executed?" by using EP, and analysis/to use it.
    A present specification&#65306;
"Only information on "Number of users using iView" can be acquired in this function
though "Page and iView of portal activity report" of EP was verified to achieve the above-mentioned purpose.
It is impossible to analyze it, that is, "Which user ID used iView?".
    A question&#65306;
In "Page and iView of portal activity report"
How should I do to display "Which iView how many times did each EP login user execute?"?
Or, I want to know if there is a table with the informations.
    Environment&#65306;
    EP6.0&#12288;SP18

    Thanking you in advance.

    Hi,
You can try Setting the 'Monitor Users' property of the pages to 'Yes'. We did this for one of our portal but there seem to be a slight performance trade-off.
    Please award point if helpful.

  • How to get vendor ID in Portal activity Report through PAR/Webdynpro

    Hi ,
I need to show Vendor ID in my Portal activity Report  along with other details .This vendor ID I need to fetch From Portal Database. Is there any way to code in PAR/Webdynpro or use any standard Template which will allow me to fetch Vendor ID of the user who access that Portal Object.
    Response required Urgently!!!!
    Thankxs

I understand that the PAR or portal activity reports have some limitations and hence as an alternative try using the google analytics which has some enhanced functionalities which could possibly satisfy your requirement....

I had raised an OSS Message with SAP some days ago on this issue. SAP has replied back saying that only users with Content Administration role can have access to configure portal acyivity report. All other users can only view the results.

  • Portal Activity Report - Aggregator System Load

    Hey Everyone,
What is everyone's impression of the Portal Activity Report? Is it helpful? Do we really have anyother options to get valid reports on usuage? Also, what type of load does the Aggregator really put on its server?
    Thanks

    Hi Craig
Gives good stats around the Users Logged on (or is it really sessions!) as well as PCD contents that are accessed by end users.  So for example if you wanted to know which particular iViews arent being used much by end users you could revisit them and look at changing them or removing them.
You could by looking at the users logged in try and come up with which region the users logged in from or the business unit and then try and address the scenario of why a certain business unit does have many users using the Portal.
Now to the more technical aspect:
Out of the box you dont need to do much to get it going, check out: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/58/728ea01cf64fff996b827f2a06f9b1/frameset.htm
This will give you the details to get it running.  Upto SP12 you didnt have the option of putting the password in the aggregator service so a user had to intervene to start the service.  However, SP13 onwards this has been reintroduced such that you can schedule it as a Windows task and it will run every day!
Also out of the box you will create iViews based upon Portal Activity Report iView.  However there is a downside - it does not allow end users to change the reporting period.  This is controlled at an iView property level.  But to get around it you could use the Web Service exposed to create your own version which allows for a dynamic date range as well as get the userids of the end users who logged in (this is stored in the DB tables but not exposed by the standard report).  Web Service details at: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/42/ba25f8b0731d69e10000000a1553f6/content.htm
Also look at NW Developer Guide and Consuming a Web Service for examples on how to use this web service...
Also it integrated with Solution Manager Diagnostics!  So can be quite handy...especially for the big bosses to look at some figures
    Hope this helps...
    Ankit
PS - Feel free to use the Points system in SDN.  Quite a neat tool

  • Portal activity report, which tables in database?

    Hi,
Could someone say, which tables in database have information for Portal Activity Report?
I need to build my own report which I cant build using standart Portal Activity Report template.
    great thanks

    Hi,
you really shouldn't access SAP portal db tables. These tables and the structure can change and SAP won't communicate this. This will give you more controll about the reports, as more data is collected.
The data stored in the DB tables for the PAR are only aggregated data. If you need more detailed data, the PAR data won't help you. In fact, what can be displayed with the PAR data in the DB, can be achieved with the PAR reports.
If you need to generate your own activity reports, you should considre using the other possibilities delivered with SAP Portal, like the Activity Data Collector:

  • Portal Activity reports inside BI

    All
I hope i post this question in the whrigt forum.
    At first some system information:
BI 7.0 java and abap instance on service pack 13
Enterprise Portal 7.0 with support pack 13.
We already created some activity reports with the iview template SAP provides buth these are not complete for out usage.
We have a new challenge. We want to create activity reports of the portal inside our BI system. So we want to fill cubes with the data collected in the EP and create reports over this data.
I know the portal collects data and stores this data inside the tables: [Link To Help File|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/58/728ea01cf64fff996b827f2a06f9b1/frameset.htm]

The first question is how to import the data from the EP system inside the BI system?
Edited by: J. Beckers on Jul 7, 2008 8:50 AM Added links

If the data is stored in those tables, and those tables are in ERP, then just create an extractor to pull the information from ERP into BW.

  • Activity Data Collector (ADC) - Portal Activity Report Dependancy

    Hello all,
I have configured the Activity Data Collector (ADC) and it is working as designed.
But when I stop the Portal Activity Report, the other activity reporting feature, the ADC stops working too.. Does anybody seen this behavior and know why this is happening? We want to get rid of the PA Report, because it seems to be bug-ridden.
    Thanks,
    Raj Balakrishnan

    Hi,
If you are considering switching to ADC, please remember that it is a little bit different kind of report. There is a SAP Note 1084379 - Portal Activity Report - Latest version (SDA file) that can help you to solve the Activity report bug problem. In case you willing to try ADC
        1.      Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Service Configuration.
        2.      In the Portal Catalog, navigate to the portal service at Applications -> com.sap.portal.activitydatacollector
                 -> Services -> DataCollectionHook.
        3.      Right-click DataCollectionHook, and select Configure.
        4.      Set the property Activate Data Collector to true, after youu2019ve switch the Activity report to false of course.

  • What is meant by Portal Activity Report

    HI Gurus,
What is the need of portal activity report.
    and how to create it.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Dharani

    Hi Dharani,

    --->then, Restart the system
In the PCD create a iview from the template ‘Portal Activity Report iView’.
Set the type of report and the reporting period.
Add the roles and pages whose report is to be recorded.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Portal activity reports "No content available for the specified period."

    Hello experts,
I'm running NW04S PS18 (7.0.18.0.0), and I like to create a activity report iview. I've turned on the service in the service configuration and it's all running and enabled there. Then I created an iview from the portal activity report template. Type of report is page/iview activity and reporting period is most recent activity for 1 week. I add a couple of iviews. When I preview the iview I get the message 'No content available for the specified period'. When I add a role where the iviews are included the reports shows data. I try it with pages and worksets but the report is only working when I add roles. When I add roles, the hits will be shown add role level. When iview 'a' is added to 3 roles, the iview is displayed 3 times in the report and not 1 time.  Why?
Is it not possible to add just iviews?
    Greetings

    Hi,
First check the monitor properties of the page/iview is properly enabled or not.
then add the role(in which your iview/page is present) to the portla activity report iview.
Delete all other pages/iviews/worksets/role  except your iview/page. this can be done easily.
now save and check the report iview.
