Portal: align center

Hi all,
I'm trying to align the whole portal in the center, like here on SDN.
I've tried different things, like editing the framework.jsp in the com.sap.portal.layouts.framework.par.
In IE6 and 7 I succeeded to align the toplevel navigation into the center, not the main content.
Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi Ramesh,
Try adding "margin: auto" to the .portalContent CSS block and it should work in any correctly-implemented browser (Firefox, Safari, Opera).
Leave the "text-align: center" in there because I think it's needed for IE 6. Not sure if IE 7 addressed this issue or not.

Hi Sonia,
I can create the user inteface template successfully as you described.
You can use a user interface template for this.
Go to Providers -> Locally Built Providers -> Shared Components -> User Interface Templates.
Then create a template for your pages and add the following lines:

But, I can't follow the following.
I go back to my page group and click [Properties]. And I can't find the [Optional].
I am using Portal 1.10.2. Can you help me ?
After that, go back to your page template, and on its properties, go to optional and then select the User Interface Template you have just created.
With this you won't have to change your original Template.

Dreamweaver CS3 adds p align="center" /p 44 times after a table and before the text. When the code is remove it puts the text to the side of the table. In Dreamweaver the setup is correct but in Chrome, Firefox, and IE there is a large space.

"Vertical Align Center" Text and a Shape

Hi designers,
I wonder if anyone could give me a hand with aligning text and shapes? I would like to align a number to the center of a circle. "Horizontal Align Center" works well. "Vertical Align Center", however, does not yield the desired result. The number turns out to be higher in the cycle (see figure below). The distance from the top of the circle to the top of the number zero, X, is shorter than the distance between the bottom of the circle and the bottom of the number zero. Is it possible to equal these two distances?

If you do not mind, I have got two further questions.
Firstly, is there an option similar to "Align to Path: Centre" under "Type on a Path Options" that changes how text is aligned?
Secondly, does InDesign offer the aforementioned function?
I sometimes label a large quantity of locations with alphanumeric characters, which are subject to frequent changes, and therefore would like to preserve the text if possible. I have heard that manipulating text is InDesign's area of expertise. If this function is not available in Illustrator but offered by InDesign, I can jot down another reason for acquiring the latter and split the workflow in the future.

Photoshop Elements 7 - How do I align/center a layer?

I'm using Photoshop Elements 7. How do I align/center a layer vertically or horizontally on a page?

Are you adding objects to a blank layer? If so bring up the ruler then drag and drop guides to your center and any additional points. You can also set so that objects automatically snap to the guide lines.
If you want to align visually similar images on top of each other, there is no auto-align like in CS5. The only work around is to lower the opacity of the top layer and then use the move tool to align by eye.

Dreamweaver MX How to get pages to automatically align center

I can get text within a layer or table to align center, but I can't figure out how to get the entire page to always snap to center, regardless of the browser window size. I'm sure this is easy, but I just don't see it.
Whatever the solution, must the contents of the page be in a table? If so, can I convert the layers (photos and text) that make up some pages into tables?
Sorry, if this is basic, but I haven't used the program in a few years, and my books andmanuals are in storage 4 hours away.

You need 3 basic things to center a page.
A valid HTML document type declaration on the first line of your code. DW normally does this for you when you create a new page.
CSS container width in pixels, ems or %;
CSS margin-left and margin-right of auto.
Page centering can be expressed with the following CSS code:
body {
width: 980px;
margin:0 auto;
NOTE: This won't work with positioned elements (aka Layers) because they are removed from normal document flow.

And that is just one way of expressing what vertical alignment means. Here are a few others:
Their centres have the same height,
Their centres have the same Y value on the Artboard/Workspace,
In all cases, you can draw a horizontal line through their centres.
Mathematically, Y = C (Y is a constant value C) is the equation for a horizontal line.

"horizontal/vertical align center" relative to one object, not the average

I see in Illustrator, if i select 2 objects and i choose to align them relative to their centers, both objects will move to the middle point of the distance between their original positions.
Is there a way to make just one of them move?
Am i able to center one object to another object that is already in its final position?

-shift-selected the other one

both objects moved

I'm having a problem getting to horizontally align a div (schilderij) in another div (schilderijholder).
This schilderij div has a height and width of 480px and has display: table-cell. The content of this div is an image, with different sizes on every page (there are multiple pages, it is some sort of photogallery). The images are nicely centered, horizontally and vertically, inside this div.
The containing div (schilderijholder), has a width of 100% of it's containing block, which has a variable size
The problem is, I cant get the schilderij div horizontally centered in the schilderijholder div.
Here's the simplified code. If you need the whole code, I can post that too.

Why do you need the div#schilderij at all? Seems unnecessary to me.
Then you would need the display:table-cell on the parent to this div, not on the div#schilderij, which has basically the same dimensions as the image. But I think this is all too complicated. Why not just this?

Hi, I'm using the below tag in one of the jsf page, of an adf application. I would like to align the text to the center of the page. The inlineStyle attribute , takes the value for the center alignment, but not working. Where as other inline style attributes are working. Could some one help me to align the text to center. Thanks.

Report Column Heading Alignment - Center Not Working Correctly

I am using Apex 2.1 (XE) and now have an application with about 30 pages. I've noticed that some of my reports which have columns with a heading alignment of "center" are not always centering if they have columns that align to the left or right included before them. I looked at the generated HTML and it shows that align="LEFT" or align="RIGHT" is being generated in the source even when the column heading is set to center in the designer. It appears that if a field higher on the list says to align the column heading left or right, then that is what the following columns are going to do also if they are set to center. So column heading left and right works great, and center works only if all the columns are set to center.
My question: Is this a known bug? Is it something that can be scheduled for a fix at some point in the future?
Luckily the column data itself obeys the column alignment, so this is strictly a cosmetic problem with the column headings.

Try setting them with a css decalration. Instead of align="right" put this is in the heading attribute
style="text-align:right;" or style="text-align:left;"

"Graph Prompt" align center in OBIEE 11g

I have got a requirement to align the "Graph Prompt" center in OBIEE 11g (11.1.16.2 BP1). I could remove the boarder around the prompt using the following CSS.

Basically, IE9 breaks flash ExternalInterface calls if your flash component is embedded with an object tag with an embed tag fallback, and the object id and embed name is the same.
The easiest workaround is to tell ie9 to render your page in IE8 Standards mode. To do this, insert this in the element:
 <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=8" >
Otherwise, you might just want to use the object tag only or embed tag only.

Form Label Text-Align Center

I am having troubles aligning the label of my form to center. When the page loads, it looks like it wants to be center aligned, but then aligns to the left. I can't tell which CSS is making it do this. Would you be able to help me narrow it down?

That is because of the attribute position: absolute; that gets added at runtime with your jQuery custom function.
To fix, Find this in your custom.js file:

Portal Alignment

Hi, I am using a portal component (TreeView) in EP6 where the font alignment with the tree node icons is not proper. Can anybody help me in achieving this?

The alignment problem was due to the image size. Re-sizing and re-aligning the image solved the problem.
