Portal cache library

Hi I use portal cache in wlp1034 in one of my project. there are p13n_ejb and p13n_ejb_base. Which one should I use? Or both? Thanks!

Perhaps I'm not understanding your question, but the WLP Cache APIs are in com.bea.p13n.cache package.

  • New FCPX Cache Library on open. I don't want that

Does anyone know why FCPX creates a new Cache Library for me when I open it instead of using the 800GB Cache Library I had been using for months? I even go to Modify Library Properties and reselect the folder where my large Cache with all my project's render files is and it still creates a new library for me. It would be a huge time waste to rerender all my 50 plus projects.
    thanks

Russ, I will give you the cache storage location as soon as I get to the office tomorrow morning. As far as why I need this relinking to happen, I have a library with 25 events and each event has about 6 projects each with at least two high render-time effects throughout the whole timeline. This whole render file cache library is about 800gb large and it took me at least two days of rendering on a 2014 top of the line 8-core Mac Pro. I just don't want to spend the computer time doing that if I already have those render files done.
Thanks for showing interest in this and helping out. Have a great day

  • Caching web templates using the portal cache - experiences

    Hi,
To improve performance, I would like to cache a (7.0) web template in the portal. I adjusted the iView by changing the following fields:
    Cache Level to shared
Cache Validity Period to 1 hour
However, the template still takes 10 seconds to load, the same time as before.
The template doesn't have a variable screen that is shown (all variables are optional), so according to note 1002778 'Caching in the Enterprise Portal' there doesn't seem te be a problem.
Do you have suggestions why it doesn't work, and if there steps I could perform to make it working?
    Cheers,
    Daniel

    Hi,
Finally SAP OSS has answered me on portal caching in BI 7.0. From their reaction:
"In the new Portal infrastructure in NetWeaver 7.0 the iView properties
for iView portal caching are not evaluated by BI as it was in BW 3.5.
In 3.5 portal infrastructure this feature had special implementation
which was evaluated as not situable for the NW 7.0 infrastructure.
The iView properties are visible, even if they do not fit to BI
iViews as we do not have the possiblity to switch off this visibility
    for some types of iViews.
Nevertheless, some parts like Web Templates, Web Items are stored
in the cache on Java Server and are reused when the same Template
    is loaded again.
So in 7.0 we do not have functionality like in 3.x for storing of
the generrated HTML. As of my knowladge, there is no workaround for
that (besides what you have mentioned."
So we'll have to wait for the BO stuff, which has pretty good pre-calculations options which can serve as cache.
    Kind regards,
    Daniel

  • Java cache library at cluster/server level

    Hello Experts,
I need that some data will be available to all my users (the data is more or less constant so a  cache is needed for better performance).
Does the SAP J2EE engine have standard cache library?
If yes, where can I find documentation?
If no, can someone recommend external library for caching?
    Regards,
    Omri

Perhaps the link below will help you, however I would recommend that you create a mechanism of Java Native Cache (How to Create a Simple In Memory Cache in Java (Lightweight Cache) • Crunchify) in an application (EJB or other) and call this application whenever the Web AS is started.
Thus it would be possible to access this EJB by JNDI and get the preloaded data.

  • WebDynpro ABAP & Portal Cache

My ABAP WebDynpro iView in portal is not reflecting the changes i have made inside SAP and i am not caching the iView. I am wondering if there is any server side cache that can be deleted? Thanks.

    Hi Andy,
You have to setup your SSO such as User Mapping in your Personalization -> Profiles at Portal.
There are other methods, please visit help.sap.com for more information.

  • Does the portal cache worksets?

    Hello,
    I have a simple question (I think )
Does EP 6 cache portions of the content on the server?
For example, I change the name of a visible workset in ESS, yet the change doesn't show up in the user browser.
I have an uneasy sense that I'm doing something wrong, but I can't quite see what (I checked Delta connections, ESS entries, ...).
If cached, is there a way to refresh cached content without restarting J2EE?
    Thank you.

    Hi Colleen Harmon,
This problem which you are facing has been described as:
Suppose you have created a role & workset in English language (portal language is selected as English). After sometime, you need to change the Name/desc of the workset. But while changing it happens that your portal language is selected as English (US) or something else but not the Original language in which the object was build. So when u change the Name of Workset, it happens that the language properties file of default & english does not gets changed and only the english (US) file gets changed. So if you check the Wrorkset name in its default craeted language, it will show the old name and if you change the Portal Language to Eng (US), it will show the new name.
This problem is actually mentioned as a feature by SAP and not problem.
We have seen this every times in our developement for worksets & roles. This is not applicable for iViews and pages.
So to make sure that this feature does not bugs you, make sure that every developer in your team has set their default portal language as English.
To solve your existing problems (features), you will have to Language Transport them..
Hope this helps you in finding the exact reason for your problem

  • Some general portal caching questions

    Hi experts,
I have some general questions regarding caching functions in portal.
    1. In System administration->Navigation I can activate navigation cache. By default there are 3 connectors: Collaboration Connector, ROLES and gpn.
I guess Collaboration Connector caches Collaboration Content and Roles caches the content of the Role-based navigation? Is that correct? What is gpn-connector?
    2. This cache does only cache the navigation structures? Not the iviews and the content?
    3. For some iViews and pages I can activate caching in PCD with certain cache levels. That caching is not related to navigation caching?
    4. I can't activate caching for web dynpro Java iviews and web dynpro java proxy pages. Is that corect? If not how can I achieve that. Those settings are deactivated for me, so I can't activate them.
    5. In Visual Admin I can activate navigation cache under com.sap.portal.prt.sapj2ee. Is this option related to the setting I can set under system administration->navigation in portal? Because I avtivated the option in portal but in VA it still showed it as not activated.
I crawled some documentation but couldn't find exact information.
    Thanks and regards
    Manuel

    Hi,
    1. GPN is Guided Procedures Navigation connector
    2. Yes only Navigation nodes are cached (TopLevel and Detailed Navigation nodes)
    3. Here it is PCD Caching, which has nothing to do with Navigation caching
    4.  I never tried this, but It looks like what you say is true.
    5. What you see in VA is old caching mechanism. So this is obsolete and can be ignored.
So you should only use the options from system administration->navigation

  • Does Portal cache pages in component development wizards??

I am experiencing some strange behaviour when developing chart, report, or other components using Portal's wizards. More than once I've had problems changing the setup of an already generated component because the changes don't take effect when moving from one tab to the other, or when clicking the OK button.
Is there some setting of the cache that should have been set differently???

  • PORTAL CACHE PROBLEM

    Hi Gurus.
    I have a big problem.
I am using the wwctx_api to get the ip address and show this ip in the html template.
in the first portal access it´s show the correct ip but when i access the same page in another machine the html template show the incorrect ip.
I tried to create a rule in WebCache to resolve this problem but did not work.
Somebody know how can I resolve my problem??
    Please, it´s very important.
    Thanks in advanced.

  • Clear portal navigation cache from java

    Hi,
I've written a navigation connector service based on the example in the ep6 pdk. It works fine but if I make changes to its configuration so that some new navigation entries should appear/disappear, it may last up to 2 hours until they show up. I think the portal caches the navigation entries for each user. Is it possible to clear the nav cache  for certain/all users with a java statement?
    thanks in advance,
    Markus

    Hi,
if you know what you're doing and what the consequences of programming against a not-public API are, you could do the following:
    CacheAccess cacheAccess = CacheAccess.getAccess("prt");
    cacheAccess.invalidate();
    build time dependency:
    compile against j2ee\cluster\dispatcher\bin\ext\com.sap.ip.basecomps\BaseComps.jar
    run time dependency:
add the SharingReference value SAPJ2EE::library:com.sap.ip.basecomps to your portal component deployment descriptor (dist/PORTAL-INF/portalapp.xml)

But after substitution,I am getting the values for the user 1 and after some time(2/3 second) I am able to get all the values for the User 2.The application is working fine. But some how its retaing the previous values of the user 1.
Can anyone please suggest me how to remove the cache from the iview.
    Regards

    Hi Sandip,
Enterprise Portal caching can be taken care or in a number of ways, all these are listed in the doc below:

  • Caching works in the portal

    Hi,
Can you help me regarding caching works in the portal?
The problem we are having is that when a new report is transported to BI ABAP quality, it does not show the changes through the portal. If we restart the portal system, the changes then appear.
    Thanks for your help.
    Cedric

    Hi Martin,
    Thanks for your response.
Unfortunately, that has not solved my problem. Even when I change the caching parameters of my iview, I have the same problem :
A query has been modified in the BI ABAP but I don’t see these changes when I launch again the iView which calls this query.
I have logged off the session, cleared browser cache and it still has the same problem.
I think it's a portal caching issue. I have the iViews to expire the cache but it seems to be getting overrided by another settings.
If someone have an idea ?
    Paramerters in my iview :
    Allow client-side caching = NO
    Cache Level = None
    Cache Validity period = 10Min
    Thanks for your help.

  • Portal 10g cache sucks

I've been struggling for a whole week now with caching issues on portal 10g (9.0.4 -linux).
Like other postings in this forum I get pages from another previous session in my browser, and since my portlets are browser dependent, this is very annoying: I get the page on a windows - ie just as the where made on the first visit as konqueror on linux.
Putting the cache off did not help: I stopped the webcache and the portal cache, same song allover again.
But for all who is having the same problem, I found a workaround that seems to work (only for own build portlets): I just put an extra parameter on the page (I called it ts - from timestamp) and give it the value of the millisecond the page was made. eg: &ts=20040306232915765, this seems to force the page to be regenerated (since it has a different parameter every time again).
Note: As I saw in some postings, one suggest to set the browsercache to 'every visit': sorry, you can't expect the whole world visiting your pages to do so!!!

    Leo.
The browser cache setting for every visit to the page is a mandatory requirement to ensure that the content is managed in a timely and expeditious manner. If the user's browser is caching content then we (and you) cannot control the update of that content, and you will (as you've experienced) end up with stale content.
The 10g cache does not 'suck'. From the description you have given here, you are implying that you have turned on 'FULL PAGE' caching which causes 2 things to happen, the fully parsed and generated page is stored in the file cache for a specified period of time. The fully parsed and generated page is cached in the user's browser cache for a period of time (specified by you). When using this type of caching even if you clear the file cache you will still retain the cached objects in the browser cache for the stated retention period, only after that period has expired will the content be regenerated.
The reason the content regenerates when you add a parameter is because this forces the regeneration of a new and differing object (uniquely identified by the URL) which will subsequently be added to the cache.
If I have not described your scenario, please provide some more details about the types of portlets you have written, the pages they are placed on, and the caching decisions you have taken with regard to those portlets and pages.

  • Portal 10 p13n cache

    hi,
We are migrating our portal 8.1 application to 10.
i am facing the following issue,
We are using CacheManagerMBean to flush the portal cache in our program.
But it seems in portal 10
    'com.bea.p13n.mbeans.CacheManagerMBean' is not available.
Could you tell me how can i manage (flush) the portal cache using the admin mbean in portal 10?
    Many thanks,

That information is very old and IMHO mostly wrong.
    Read the javadocs on CacheFactory.flush():
    [url http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs100/javadoc/com/bea/p13n/cache/CacheFactory.html
It does a cluster-wide flush of the cache, removing the key or the whole cache on all nodes of the cluster.
The underlying implementation uses the same multicast that the WLS server nodes use to keep in sync with each other. It is also exactly the same method that all the WLP internals use to keep caches in sync across a cluster.
If it doesn't work for you, then I'm sure support would like to hear why.

  • Portal and Database Cache

    All,
Any pointers on using Portal with Database Cache. Can we identify Portal tables as 'hot', so that Portal page, content area rendering will be faster ? I was told that Portal and iCache have different approaches to caching. What if I turned off Portal caching and let iCache do it for me?
    Would appreciate some response.
    Thanks
    Sanjay

The caching portal provides isn't a product. It's an optimization on the architecture, basically storing information wherever we can so it doesn't have to be pregenerated.
