Hi,
in SAP NetWeaver 7.0, portal integration is a required component for using the new functions of the BEx Web (such as the Report and Analysis Web items). This new Web runtime is now based on the technology of SAP NetWeaver Portal.
Web templates for the new Web runtime from SAP NetWeaver 7.0 are different from Web templates from SAP NetWeaver 2004.
iViews with content from BI are now called BEx Web Application iViews (previously SAP BW Report iViews). A BEx Web Application iView can have one of two versions: BEx Web Application for a Web template from the new Web runtime from SAP NetWeaver 7.0, and BEx Web Application (SAP BW 3.x format) for a Web template from a previous Web runtime from SAP NetWeaver 2004 or lower.
In addition to the integration of content from BI from SAP NetWeaver 7.0 into the portal in SAP NetWeaver 7.0, the integration of content from BI from SAP BW 3.x into the portal in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 is also supported.
The Business Explorer portal role has been changed. Two additional portal roles have also been created, Business Planning and Business Intelligence. All portal roles show, for example, how a user can work with content from BI in the portal.

EX : zqry_w001 Then replace W with Q and seach in analyser or Designer.

No data in Portal Report but have data in Bex Analyzer
Hi experts,
I have problem regarding portal reports. When you view the report using the bex analyzer, there is data. But when you view the report in the portal from iview, there is no data.
Please help experts.
ThanksHi Emmanuel (that's weird, I am an Emmanuel too! and we both have Filo origins),
There can be heaps of reasons for this.
1) Please try to run the query in transaction RSRT by entering the query name and clicking "Java Web". See if that gives you results. If that gives your results, then the iView that was saved in the portal might need some reconfiguration. Check it out.
2) Check the logic of your user exit variables. The sequence of the I_STEP calls is a bit different if you run a query in the Portal. For example, if you don't have a mandatory variable in your query, then the olap engine will call I_STEP=1 to 3 before it shows the variable screen. This behaviour is not documented in help.sap.com. However, it does work that way.
3) Try to check the caching settings for your iView. It might be caching the result. You can change this in Content Administration in the portal.
Try the above and see if it helps. Otherwise, post another message.
Cheers. -
Can Portal Report from SQL Query use where column IN (:bind_variable)
I would like to create a portal report from sql query with IN (:bind_variable) in the where clause. The idea is that the user would enter comma-separated or comma-quote-separated values for the bind_variable. I have tried this several ways but nothing seems to work. Can this be done?
TrentonHi,
Which version of portal are you using. This is a bug. It has been fixed in 30984.

How do I display blob (image) in a Portal Report
I am using 9ias 10222 and portal 30983 and I have a table that stores an image as a blob and have a varchar field to store the mime type. I have created a form to upload the image and can then query the form to display the image.
How do I dislay the image in a Portal Report/Dynamic Page Component. I have followed note 68016.1 but the retrieve_img_data procedure does not work it gives a wwv-11230 error.
Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
BelindaHi,
Can you display what code you used for this? I followed note 172045.1 and everything compiles properly but when I run the report, I just get a box with a red X in it, like it is not finding the picture. I ran the procedure that downloads the image and it works fine from there. Thanks. -

How to retrieve a local file from a portal report.
Hi,
I need to access a local htm file from my local directory. I stored the filename in
a table. And I built a portal report to select the filename from the table. The filename
in the report will be link to a procedure that I created to pass the filename. The
procedure code is as follow:
(v_filename in varchar2) IS
url varchar2(100);
BEGIN
url := 'uploaddoc/'| |v_filename;
portal30.wwv_redirect.url(p_url =>url);
END;
Then in the httpd.conf file, I put in an alias like this:
I put an alias in the httpd.conf file like this:
Alias /uploaddoc/ "C:\My_Data\uploaddoc/"
I stopped the http server and restarted it after I made the changes.
When I run the report, I click on the filename link: in my example,it is:
internal_portal_faq, the filename is passed to the procedure that I created.
But I got the following error message on the browser:
No DAD configuration Found
DAD name:
PROCEDURE : internal_portal_faq
URL : http://localhost:80/pls/portal30/uploaddoc/internal_portal_faq
I am running on version 3.07 on NT on my laptop.
Any idea what I did wrong?
P.S. I don't want to upload the file using a portal form into the blob field.
Thanks;
Kelly.
nullHi,
I found out a way to do this myself. If anyone is interested in that, just drop me an email.

SOLUTION - How to display a BLOB content in Portal Report
Courtesy of Kelly Wong:
1. Every time a record of the file information is inserted into the
PORTAL30.WWDOC_DOCUMENT table while you inserted a record to the blob
field in a portal form that you created.
[The fact that a file uploaded appears in the WWDOC_DOCUMENT table is actually a side-effect of Forms file upload, this may change in a future version. However this example gives a pretty good solution to the problem - Dmitry]
2. If you describe the PORTAL30.WWDOC_DOCUMENT table, you will find
that a few of the columns are: NAME, FILENAME, MIME_TYPE, BLOB_CONTENT,
CREATOR, etc.
3. I created a pl/sql procedure that takes a NAME parameter.
The code of the procedure is as follows:
CREATE OR REPLACE Procedure get_url
(V_FILENAME IN VARCHAR2)
IS
url varchar2(100);
BEGIN
url := '/pls/portal30/docs/'| |v_filename;
portal30.wwv_redirect.url(p_url =>url);
END;
4. I then created a portal report, select NAME, FILENAME, MIMETYPE,
CREATOR fields from PORTAL30.WWDOC_DOCUMENT. (remember, no BLOB_CONTENT
field is selected!) My select statement is:
SELECT '<A
HREF="scott.get_url?v_filename='| |name| |'">'| |filename| |'</A>' filename,
name,mime_type,creator
from portal30.wwdoc_document
where creator = 'KELLY'
You can see that I am passing in "NAME" instead of "FILENAME" into the
get_url procedure because the it needs the "NAME" info to display the
file.
Actually, the content in the NAME column is something like:"563.TXT",
and the content in the FILENAME column is "F15675/IPORTAL_LOCAL.TXT".
The hyperlink can be either on the NAME or FILENAME field, as long as
you pass in the content of "NAME" into the procedure.
And it should be fairly easily to substring the FILENAME to show only
"IPORTAL_LOCAL.TXT" if the client doesn't like to see the number
portion.
That is, when I click on the link, I am able to see my file in a new
browser window.The only drawback in this scenario is if there is a link
from your document to a portal component (form/report), it may not link
to the form/report. If there are links in the document link to other
document (html, txt, etc.), it will be no problem. It just open the
document in another browser window.
Please feel free to give me any comment on this and post it to the forum
if needed. I just don't want to search for the original questions in
the forum and attach the reply to it.
Regards;
Kelly.Is this method working also for portal 3.0.9?
I can't get it to work.
Is there a way do put a link to download the content of a blob field inside a report in version 3.0.9 that comes with iAS 1.0.2.2?
Thank's in advance

Urgent fix reqd in Portal Reports
All,
Portal Reports currently has a limit of 10001
rows. This causes a problem in DSS applications. From my WebDB days, this was a global variable with a value of 10000. Can this limit be removed or can you make this parameter a variable, so the developer can set the upper limit ?
Also, Portal ignores text entered in the after-header,before footer textareas after the text keyed in exceeds a certain limit. This is similar to the form reverting to select * from emp, if the package was invalid.
Can we please fix this ? If not the second, at least the first ?
Last, but not the least (and I may be pushing myluck here)..what are chances of renaming the show procedure in wwv_sylk to xls ? This will cause a report that is run with formatout=EXCEL to appear as http://<server>/pls/<dad>/<schema>.<pkg>.xls.
Browsers will recognize this as a spreadsheet . Currently, it prompts for how do I open as *.show document.
Thanks
SanjayI have found a temporary workaround, by editing the where clause in the stored procedure manually. However this fix have to be done every time a change have been committed in the wizard, so it is still not a solution to go for indefinitely, but its ok for now.

Generate Portal reports in PDF format
How can I generate Portal reports with the output in PDF format and send it as an attachment using email (UTL_SMTP)?
BestPortal itself does not have the facility (unless they've added it recently but that would seem to me to make no sense). Use a report writer (the run-time library for Oracle Reports is part of the 9ias install) which have such facilities and allows the resultant file to be saved on the reports server which you can then send as an attachment using a proc you write with utl_smtp package (although, some report writers may already have that facility built in). If you don't like that option, Adobe sells packages that provide APIs to convert files into PDFs (you write the file to the server using the utl_file package assuming the db is Oracle, you could also write to the client's FSO but that's bad form). Or, if your really over-ambitous, you can attempt to write your own application to convert the file but then you'd need to know the PDF internals (and don't re-invent the wheel anyway). As above, you'd need to write an smtp-based package to pick up those files.

Calling Stored procedure from portal report
I have a simple portal report. ie.
select empname
from emp
where dept = :dept
The users can customize the portlet and change the value of the bind variable (:dept).
On the Additional PL/SQL section of the report I need to call a procedure and
pass the value of the bind variable. Since the portlet is not being called from
another, p_arg_names and p_arg_values will not give me anything. In the above example I would
need to pass the value of ":dept" to the procedure. How do I get the value?Hi,
Have you tried the 'get_value' function?..The syntax is
declare
l_dept number(5);
begin
l_dept := get_value('dept');
/* further process */
end;
where 'dept' is name of the bind variable.

Buttons on portal reports in 9.0.2
Is it possible to have radio buttons or checkboxes in SQL based portal reports? If so, are you able to execute code when they are selected?
Hi,
You cannot do this with portal reports. You can use dynamic pages to do this. Here is a similar code which input types like text, hidden and buttons. The submit procedure is also available for the code to be executed when submitting.
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>Example</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<FORM action="<schema name>.submit_form" method="post">
<H2>Example of A Dynamic Page</H2>
<ORACLE>
begin
for c1 in (select * from scott.emp )
loop
htp.p(c1.empno);
htp.p(c1.ename);
htp.p(c1.deptno);
htp.p(c1.hiredate);
htp.p(c1.sal);
htp.p('<input type="hidden" name="p_empno" value='||c1.empno||'>');
htp.p('<input type="text" name="p_comm">');
htp.p('<br>');
end loop;
htp.p('<input type="submit" name="p_action">');
end;
</ORACLE>
</BODY>
</FORM>
</HTML>
Code for the procedure submit_form
create or replace procedure submit_form
p_empno IN wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr,
p_comm IN wwv_utl_api_types.vc_arr,
p_action IN VARCHAR2)
as
begin
for i in 1..p_empno.count loop
htp.p(p_empno(i));
update scott.emp
set comm = p_comm(i)
where empno = p_empno(i);
commit;
end loop;
exception
when others then

end;
grant execute on submit_form to public;
