Portal time out with large jdbc query in JSP bean

Hi,
My JSP portlet always times out while waiting to complete two large JDBC queries. The error shown in my jserv.log file is:
[28/03/2002 12:41:51:221 GMT+08:00] page/Fetching timed out for an Unknown Reason. Killing fetcher name=content-fetcher2 label=174 url=http://mephistopheles.au.oracle.com/servlet/agcharts time=120633
[28/03/2002 12:43:10:595 GMT+08:00] page/UncaughtException in thread name=content-fetcher2, starting a new fetcher after exception
java.lang.ThreadDeath
Is there some particular settings I can modify to prevent the content fetcher from timing out? Cheers

Thanks. The charts portlet now can be delayed up to the required ~10mins before returning data from the large query. This works in conjunction with changes in the directives/parameters for Jserv and httpd(Note:180548.1)
Shankar,
Normally, you can increase the time out in the portlet tag of the provider.xml file. The timeout is in seconds, you should also increase the provider timeout. This is done in the provider registration screen.
<timeout>60</timeout>
<timeoutMessage>My Portlet Timed Out</timeoutMessage>
Please note that if you set the timeout too high and your portlet is really not coming up, you page will wait the 60, 90, 120, etc seconds for the portlet to timeout, so be careful will portlet and provider timeouts.

  • Genius initialization times out with large library

I have tried over 20 times to initialize Genius in iTunes 8 with a library containing over 100,000 tracks. Analyzes fine. Uploads to Apple fine. Apple analyzation goes fine. Then downloads data from Apple and it always takes a long time and times out before it completes, giving me an error message. Anyone else getting this?

same here, not so many files, but do have about 32gb. I am using a pee-see, and running win X-Pee.
It is not going to sleep. I had already turned the screensaver and tree-hugging energy saving feature. Anyone out there?

  • SAP PORTAL Time-Out Settings / BO iView Reports..?

We have created BO object-specific iView requests in SAP PORTAL based on Ingo's posting....
SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise & SAP Enterprise Portal - Part 3 of 4
Currently, just posting some small CR4E and Analysis for Office (*Design Studio will be added in a few months) report objects that are based on BW queries - and response time is a few seconds.
However, long-term as our BW grows - and the volume of data/periods expands we may see some reduction in the performance of these reports, and they make take a few-minutes to return data.
The SAP Portal team already have an issue with an ECC / T-Code report (*no Business Objects involved) which runs over 100 seconds - and hits a Portal time-out....and are wondering if we would hit the same issue if a CR4E within the Portal ran longer than 100 seconds...?
I think the answer is "NO", the Portal time-out would not apply in that scenario. My assumption is that in our solution-path, the Portal's 100 second time-out rule would ONLY apply to the process of the Portal invoking the iView request - and opening the frame for the CR4E content.
Once the frame is open - and the RPT / Prompt-Screen is loaded the Portal time-out is "happy".
After that iView -> BO frame is established....so, even if the CR4E & BW Query took more than 100 Seconds to return/display the data - the SAP Portal would not time-out - as all of that activity is actually taking place at the BOE Platform layer within the frame (and using the time-out settings at the BOE level).
Can anyone confirm that my assumptions are correct, or explain where the assumption is wrong..?
    Thanks in advance...!

In our scenario, the SAP PORTAL has a 100 second time-out, but the Business Objects platform where the CR4E content is hosted has a 600 second time-out for "View on Demand" reporting.
When the SAP PORTAL opens the iView connection, it is opening the CR4E content in a frame on the Portal. Prompts are entered - and the RPT execution begins on the BOE platform.
There is a "spinning-wheel" displayed from the BOE platform, and if run in BO LaunchPad it could run for up to 600 seconds before a time-out occured.
When it is presented in SAP PORTAL via iView connection - does that "spinning-wheel" from BOE Platform provide enough of a "heartbeat" to let the PORTAL know not to drop the connection at 100 seconds....?
My reasoning is that SAP PORTAL should be opening the BOE content with the same rules that apply when the report is opening in the BO LaunchPad.
We are going to create a "SLOW" report in CR4E (*Lots of charts & sub-reports) to test/compare LaunchPad and Portal display of the same report.

  • Coding Swing Applications with Large JDBC ResultSets

    Hi,
Does anyone know where I can find information regarding efficient ways to code Swing UI's with large JDBC result sets. I have been using JTextArea but my application seems to constantly run out of memory when I encounter a large result set. Also, any information regarding threading and if running database queries should be done entirely off the event thread vs SwingUtilities.invokeLater() would be of tremendous help.
    Thanks,
    John Meah

If doing operations in the awt thread starts to impair the performance of your app, then create a new class that implements Runnable, and do this:
    Thread t = new Thread (new yourRunnable());
    t.start();
t should have lower priority than the AWT thread.
As far as large result sets, it is a fairly universal problem. My recommendation is that you arbitrarily impose a limit on how many of the records returned are displayed, like maybe 25 records. This should fix your problem

There is no problem about using one ID for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match, and another for iCloud and its email and syncing facilities. This way you can all use the same iTunes account but have separate emails and calendars etc.

  • Remote Desktop Connection Times Out With "Can't Connect" From One Specific Computer Only

This is an odd one... I manage several servers from this computer. This particular server, 2012 Essentials, won't allow for remote desktop connections to either the server or attached workstations. I can get into the server's remote web page but when I
attempt a remote desktop connection, it hangs on "Initiating remote connection..." and then times out with the error response that remote desktop can't connect. But... if I attempt the same connections from any other computer, I am able to get in
and utilize remote desktop. Does this mean that there is a certificate issue with the computer unable to connect and if so, how does one remedy this? Or is it some other issue? I've attempted everything within my technical ability to no avail. Any suggestions
    are greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Before going further, would you please let me know the RDC version that used in the problematic computer? Was it the same with other computers?
Please temporarily disable firewall and then check if this issue can be solved. Based on your current description, it’s hard to say the root reason of this issue.
So, I suggest that you should check relevant log files and get some clues. It will help us to narrow down and solve your issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • MS CRM 2011 session time out with our CBA

    Hi CRM Gurus,
can we have CRM website, session time out, with out implementing the CBA?
by default the ideal time out for the apppool is 20 minutes, still it does not have any impact.
is there any way to achieve the timeout for the CRM website and any impact for other things like outlook , email router etc if we do so?

    Hi yes.sudhanshu
Look for the following registry key on a machine where this issue is occuring,
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\WebClient\Parameters\InternetServerTimeoutInSec
and increase the value, think it defaults to 30, and test .

  • Portal Time out

    Hi ,
I want to set the portal time out , such that if a user is not doing any activity , the portal should log him out(like banking websites)
Please let me know the steps to do the same
I found out that it can be set from System Administration --> System Configuration --> UM Configuration --> Security Settings, but i could not find Lifetime of the SAP Logon Ticket option there
    Please help

    hii.
The termination of the Portal and all Web Dynpro applications as a whole is defined by the Security Session timeout.
This is an absolute timeout value, e.g. the default is about 27h, that always terminates the whole security session after the defined period of time independtly from any user interaction.
The expiration of the HTTP sessions is handled automaticaly and does not need to be cared about.
When the HTTP sessions are created they get the maximum of the application session timeout and the default HTTP session timeout. After the corresponding application session has been destroyed, the HTTP session gets a very small value to expire as soon as possible.
Go through this SAP NOTE to make the suitable changes:-
    Note 842635
Also refer to NOTE 842878 for Session Management Information.
    Also use this Links.

  • Time out on large procedure

Not sure if this is the right forum to bring this up as it doesn't primarily use the terrific wizard tools that come with portal, but I thought I would give it a try.
We have a stored procedure that generates a very large report for our customers. Basically an income statement/balance sheet. Anyway, we have found that there is a cut off point of how large of a report we can generate before the web browser times out. As a fix for this, we broke up the large procedure into two smaller procedures and have one dynamic page that is calling both. This is working, but I thought there was probably a better solution somewhere.
Has anyone else run into this issue and if so, is there another approach to the resolution that is better? I feel our solution is a bit of a hack and there has to be a better way.
    Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

Batch mode in reports may be one option to consider.

  • Time out error in POWL query

    Hello Experts,
The user selected Purchase Order  ALL and ran the query with wild search, it contains around 40K POs showing in Active query list.  When he wants to access these POs by cliking on hyper link ALL (40451).  Its going to Time out error, because requestor number is missing.
Kindly throgh some light how to clear this filter.
    Highly appreciated for prompt responses.

    Hi Poonam Patil,
Try to provide BELNR and GJAHR in where condition...
    BKPF-DBBLG ==> BSAK-BELNR
    Also check
    BKPF-BLDAT ==> BSAK-AUGDT
    Check out above relation...
If data is there in these fields of the table and both are matching then you can pass it and as they are in primary key of BSAK it will improve the performance...
Hope it will solve your problem..

  • Time out problem for select query

I am fetching data from BKPF for my report.
I have written following query. But this query always time out.
    SELECT
        BUKRS
        BELNR
        GJAHR
        BLART
        BLDAT
        BUDAT
        MONAT
        XBLNR
        BKTXT
        WAERS
        KURSF
        HWAER
        FROM BKPF
        INTO TABLE I_BKPF
        WHERE BUKRS IN S_BUKRS
         AND BELNR IN S_BELNR
         AND GJAHR IN S_GJAHR
         AND BLART IN S_BLART
         AND BLDAT IN S_BLDAT
         AND BUDAT IN S_BUDAT
         AND MONAT IN S_MONAT
         AND CPUDT IN S_CPUDT
         AND BSTAT = SPACE.
    So please suggest me solution.

    Hi..
    1) Try to make Some of the Fields such as BUKRS , GJAHR  as PARAMETERS so that ROWS are restrited mostly.
    2) Make fields like BLDAT and BUDAT as OBLIGATORY if possible.
    3) And in the SELECT query add the PACKAGE SIZE addition.

  • Transaction time out for a simple query

I have a table with 39 million records in the table. When I try to fetch data from teh table with one single where clause. it is raising Transaction timed Out.
What is the best way to fetch full data with out Time Out.
Can we use the first_rows hint to fetch data batch by batch ?
    Thanks,
    CD

What is the exact error code? I.e. the ORA-nnnn error code.
It is not possible to diagnose a problem if the actual problem is not known. Responders are guessing at what the problem is and offering solutions.. and these could be very far of the mark.

  • Status byte times out with KS3988 VIs

I am writing a VI that operates GPIB devices that are being controlled by the Kinetic Systems 3988 CAMAC Crate controller. I have been using the KS3988 VIs that are supplied with LabView 5.1. I have found one problem that persists throughout all of my VIs. They will ALL time out on the VISA Read VI if the status byte is enabled. However, if I change the number of bytes for the VISA Read to expect the applications no longer time out and even return a complete status byte. However, with a different byte count my applications return a warning that the byte count is the same as when it entered--I'm not sure what this means, but it's far better than any time out.
I am now attempting to do block transfers and acco
rding to the manual it is best for the status byte to be activated when doing these kinds of transfers. Again, the status byte results in a time out.
Here is the time out error in its entirety:
"Error -1073807339 occurred at VISA Read in KS3988 Status Register Read.vi->Untitled.vi."
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hallo,
Concerning "warning that the byte count is the same as when it entered", I
think it only means that there could be more bytes to read. I got a similiar
problem with a Visa application, but i knew that the sent data was exactly
nine byte long. So there was no point waiting for data that won´t come and
therefore I could ignore the warning.

  • My upgrade to IOS5 for iphone 4 continually times out with error message 3259. Any ideas on why?

My download of ios5 continually times out in itunes, quoting error message 3259. Any ideas why

THIS WAS COPIED FROM A THREAD THAT WORKED FOR ME SO I CAN'T TAKE THE CREDIT
Open notepad as administrator, and direct yourself to:
    C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc
    open the "Hosts" file:
note the "127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com" portion near the bottom. your hosts may be different, and if so, then look for that part specifically. the problem for me, lied within the fact that just before the "127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com" part, there originally was no hash(#) with the space like the rest of the hosts file. This was all I had to fix. After editing and then SAVING the hosts file in notepad I restarted iTunes and the update went through without a hitch!
so if you do not see the hash and space before the "127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com" part, all you have to do is put the #, and then press tab! I hope this works for some of you guys! So just to be clear, that particular line in the file should look like:
    # 127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com
    good luck!
