Portal Transports Dev to QA

I have created my portal transport and exported from Dev Portal and Imported to QA Portal.
When I run my imported version of ESS in the QA Portal, I am gettting Windows Security Pop Up asking for a Username and Password saying that the Dev Portal requries Authentication.
Do I need to change a setting somewhere in the Portal or redo my Import and Export?
Thanks
WB

Hi,
i am not sure what you mean by "any system mapping"
When you have a backend system created in DEV and you transport it to QA or PROD,
the Alias names are not created and need to be added manually after the transport.
The system properties like URL or ports are always different , so that needs to be changed to.
Don't forget to setup the SSO (exchange of the portal certificate into the backend system)

  • Tracking the Portal Transports

    Hello All,
I have a question on portal Transports. I created some portal transports in my DEV environment by creating EPA packages.
I Imported the EPA files in QA. Is there any location in portal where I can look all the imported EPA files?.
    Thanks!!!!!!!

    Hi,
You can check the imported files from this directory on your server:
    /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/pcd/Import
If you do not find the above path, check for Parameter
Pcd.TransportApplication.ImportRootDir in PCDStartup.Properties and check in this folder for imported  files.
    Path to pcdStartup.properties:
    /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/pcd/pcdStartup.properties

  • Any reason for more push from MS for Client OM and REST API during the SP 2013 portal solution dev

    hi,
Would like to know, why Microsoft has put more emphasis on Client OM and REST API in SP 2013 portal solutions dev.
Is there any prticular reason for this.If we develop our solutions in Server Object  Model any performance/scalability related issues would be appearing in the near future , once i "Go Live" of my portal ?
Any indications given by MS saying, "we  wont allow ISV/vendors/ to build  server object model based solutions in the near future".

The real question might be "how long will there be an on premise version of SharePoint?" or "will we move our SharePoint to the cloud in the future?" There is an obvious push to the cloud for SharePoint. While all indications point to at least one more on
premise version of SharePoint, as a best practice any code you develop should run in both environments, and that will limit you to the new app model.
As far as performance, traditional server side code runs on the web front end servers. Any poorly performing code would have a negative impact on the servers and users. Therefore, performance/scalability is up to the skills of the developer. The primary
change around the app model is to move all custom code off of the web front ends and onto the client or other servers (via web services). Using the app model you can scale the app servers as needed separately from the "SharePoint" servers. (and of course,
your code would might still work if your SharePoint environment later moves to the cloud.)

  • Inluding java webdynpro apps into portal transport packages

    Hi All,
Platform: EP7 SPS13, solaris, oracle DB
I would like to know how to include java webdynpro apps into portal transport packages.
I was reading documentation but I was not able to accomplish this.
    I have modified Pcd.TransportApplication.Export.ExcludeSystemObjects = false
    in pcdStartup.properties file.
Transport export includes all my java webdynpro iviews, and export property RESOLVE REFERENCES is set to true in order to setup dependences to be included.
After importing in QA portal, I can see my java webdynpro iviews, but no webdynpro application exists and iviews won't work.
    Any idea will be appreciated.
    Regards.

    Hi Claudio Roca  ,
You ca nmove web dynpro applications to different landscapes  in two ways
    1) In NWDS u need to set Message server Port and server port of Quality or production depending on ur requirement
In NWDS ..In Menu you can find
Windows->perferenece  there u need to do settings
and u need to deploy ur webynpro application
    2) you can deploy .ear file in Visual Admingoto  Visual Admin there u can find deployment button click it and deploy ur .ear file
Please reward points if it is helpful

  • Revert Portal transport

    Hi,
I am just wondering if it is possible to revert a Portal Transport. I have exported an .epa file and imported the same into another portal. Would it be possible to revert back to the previous state after I have done the import.

    Dear Muralidaran,
It's not posible to revert a portal transport, if you are not sure, i suggest you that you make a previous export of your pcd and then realice the transport, then if you have a problem, you can re import the old pcd.
    Regards.

  • CMS to use Portal Transports??

    Hello All,
I was wondering if i could use the CMS for the Portal Transports. Is this Possible?? If yes, then someone could help me configuring this.
    Regards
    Vaib

If you are talking about transports in the Portal, then no CMS is not used.  I think you may mean TMS or CTS.
There is a transport process that uses export / import feature which allows you to move content from Development to Test and Production like R/3 concept.
You Export Content using the Package Export Editor.
System Administration > Transport > Export
Create a transport package or create one
Select content from the navigation screen, right click and choose Add <Object> to Transport Package to add the object to the transport package
Use the Export button to preview the content that will be exported, including any dependent objects.  From this you can exclude any objects, in the SAP namspace (com.sap.portal or com.sap.km) will be excluded.
Select a name for the export with Start Export.
The Download Export File link can be used to download the export file, if required.
    Import content:
Ensure the *.pkg or .epa file is available
Start the transport import utility by choosing Administration > Transport > Import
Select the client or server as the Source for Package Files, select the file and use the Upload to preview the contents.
Select the appropriate option for overwriting the existing content.
Use the Import to start the import process

  • How to assign automatically system id in Quality Server (portal - transport

In the development environment we have ECC and CRM/EP server and in Quality we have only one server ECC/EP. Portal is working fine in development server(CRM). I have imported transport package from Development Server to Quality server successfully using transport package (Import/Export). But in QAS. only links are displayed. When I click getting exception error. Then I changed system name of QAS for few static pages.
In case of  iviews in the QAS, Systen name parameter has the Development server system ID(e.g. ECC_DEV_100, CRM_DEV_100.) Is it possible to assign QAS system name (ECC_QAS_300) to iviews in Quality Server. For few static pages I have manually assigned QAS system ID ECC_QAS_300 in Iviews. but still getting exception server.

    Hello,
what you call system name has to be the system alias, and this alias has to be the same between DEV/QUAL/PROD environment.
Your portal application will look for data/BAPIs/etc... with this alias. Your portal application will know on which environment it has to retrieve data/BAPIs/etc... will be defined in each system object you have defined for each environment.

  • Difference between Portal Transport and Basis Transport

    Hi Experts,
    I have few questions .
    1. What's the difference between transport in portal and transport in Basis.
2 . In user admin , we create users and assign them roles. Even Basis people will create
new userids and assign them roles. Whats the difference between these two.
    3. In useradmin whats the difference between assigned roles and assigned groups.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
I don't see any differnece in portal and basis transport
Content transport generally done from one landscape to other landscape. say  from dev to test system
    or test  to production system.
we create user id using user admin role in portal ume or we can get users externally by using LDAP funtionality.
Using user admin role we can assingn users to rolese and groups.
Groups are used for a group of users. IF certain users have similar authorizations in portal then we group them in single user group and then assing this group to the roles. This is called authorization.
Role is used to display the portal content to the users and is the top level navigation in portal.
If I miss anything at basis level then someone can help you.

  • Portal Transport

    Hi All,
We have Nw04s EP7.0 and CRM5.0. BP CRM5.0  is deployed and required configuration is also done. And SSO with Logon tickets has been done.
Now the question is about transporting.
I have created transport package for the content that need to be transporte to QA. But how about SSO, do I need to do separatly for QA and Prod?
Please also provide some guide lines that need to be taken while transporting.
    Appreciate your help.
    With Regards,
    Ravi.D

    Yes.
SSO has to be configured for each landscape ( DEV, QA, PRD) separately.

  • Portal Transport - Folder Overwriting

    Hi
I have initially transported a folder from DEV to Q system.  After that I have deleted and added some iviews in DEV. Again I have transported the entire Folder to Q.
    Now the problem:
In Portal Content in Q I can still see the deleted iviews still appearing. So I need a COMPLETE folder overwrite from root of the transported folder from DEV to Q system
    Please suggest
    Thanks in Advance
    ASR

    Hi Ananda,
This is not possible. It has to be manually deleted in the QA System or the target system.
    Portal Content Transport
I can only think of taking back up of the target system before any imports are done to it. May be we have to make a suggestion to SAP for PCD versioning.

    hi,
Go to System Administration > Support > Portal Content Directory > PCD Configuration . check the following parameter
Pcd.TransportApplication.Export.ExcludeObjectTypes AfterRuleProcessing which defines what define that dependent objects should also be exported.

  • What's the right way to start up with Portal's dev?

    Hi to all Portals experts,
I am really struggling to start up learning Portals and more specific their development. Here is the problem - I am a bit new in the NetWeaver  but not new in J2EE environment. I went trough all WebDynpro tutorials and really the documentation was written nice.Good hands-on approach with lots of examples and that is what I found with WebDynpro - everything well explained step by step.
But when I started the Portal’s Tutorials I was  a bit disappointed.
1.First of all, there is no explanation which tools one needs to start up with Portal Dev?
I only have  SAP Netweaver Development Studio SP15 installed on my PC and I don’t have any access to R/3, CRM or other system. Is this enough to at least start to learn Portal Development or not?
    2. I realize well that at some point I will need real system to play with but , until than what useful practice I can do on my own and how?
    - Even within the WebDynpro tutorial , the very first Part :’ Define a system’ - (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/cb/f4bc3d42f46c33e10000000a11405a/frameset.htm) -‘In the portal, navigate to System Administration - System Configuration - System Landscape’
Which Portal ? I don’t have System Administration on my NWDS SP15?Is is something I should install?unclear?
    3. My understanding is that NWDS SP15 contains EP , within its J2EE local engine , but is this EP.6.0, is this enough to develop complete Portal Application A-Z or not - unclear ?
    4.  PDK. Somewhere I read that Portal Application can be developed with either WebDynpro or with PDK. I’ve read about PDK but It is not clear if  it is Dev Kit as its name says , should it be downloaded , installed or imported into NWDS, again? And bottom line do I need PDK as a  Portal Developer, and at which point?
I only need the starting point for Portal Develop. or some guide that should set milestones 1st ,2nd .. I would prefer the hands-on approach. If some of you  has already taken this path and can help me with your directions, links, at least how to get started, I will highly appreciate it! Thanks in advance!Regards, Bob

    Hi Bob,
The below reply is as per my experience with Development so far:
1> It is not necessary to have access to R/3 or any other SAP/non SAP application unless you are writing an application in connection to them.
Example: An application which is reading data from R/3 and displaying the same in a table. Yes, in this scenario you would require access to R/3.
2> System Administration is a role just like Home, User Administration, etc in Portal itself.
It contains all the configuration related to System Landscape, Knowledge Menegement, etc
If in case you have not been given this role, you may ask your System Administrator to create the required system (PCD Object). You may then use this system from your Profile (Personalize Portal) link directly.
3> NWDS resides over Portal so you may create your own standalone application or application thats talking to the underlying Portal.
WebDynpro is used to create UI & likewise you may build Web applications or EJB applications.
4> PDK stands for Portal Development Kit. YUou may ask your administrator to download and assign the same to you. This would appear as a "Java Developer" named role in your portal. It contains all APIs required for Java development.
If you do nto have this, you may still use the Javadocs provided on SDN itself.
Depending what custom developmetn you do, depending upon the type the .par (portal archieve), .ear (Enterprise archieve), .war (web archieve) needs to be deployed in portal, so that users may access/view the custom created data.
    Hope this helps
    All the best!
    Warm Regards,
    Ritu

  • Report Painter:create a transaction, transport DEV to PRD

    Dear all,
I have created my first report in GRR1 (Report Painter / Writer), modifying a standard report that uses the library 8A2 (EP PCA).
In all, i created the following objects:
    1) report ZRPRT (created with T. GRR1 (Report Painter / Writer))
    2) report group Z8XY(created with T. GR51), that contains only this report
    3) Account group Z_CO_XY (created with T. KDH1),with the GLPCT table, field RACCT. Z_CO_XY is  input parameter as group account, via selection screen, of the report ZRPRT.
    Now i would like:
    1. Create a transaction to run this report from the mainmenu.
2  Transport everything,  from DEV to PRD.
I would like to have everything in a PRD, also for maintenance reasons.
If in the future, i need to modify this report, I would be able to bring everything from PRD to DEV to make those changes (if, in the meantime, the objects were deleted from DEV, for whatever reason)
Please, can you give me an explanation step-by-step what I should do. Any advice is welcome!
    Thank you in advance.

Add custom reports to an existing Report Tree (SERP)
    For example:
Add custom report to:  Project System/Information System/Financials/u2026
    Find u201CPS91u201D from SERP
    Add a report to PS91
The trick is find the existing report tree related to standard main menu.
Or create a new report tree where you house all custom or selected reports in one place.
May also consider using area menu (SE43): create a structure, for example, to house all custom reports.  A useful tool to manage custom/specifc reports

  • Collaboration Portal Transport Question

I created a test collaboration room on an Netweaver 7.0 SPS 9 portal and created a tranport package with that content.
Now that the proof of concept is done, we decided that we will go live with the collobartion rooms on the Netweaver 7.0 SPS 19 landscape.  I want to IMPORT by transport package from SPS 9 to the SPS 19 version, however, I noticed that the SPS 19 version is missing the BANNER iview.
Should I do the tranport from SP 9 to SP 19 or start from scratch on SP19?
    Thanks
    Angie

I probably didn't make myself clear.  I want to tranport the ROOM TEMPLATE from SP9 to SP19, but the BANNER iview that I used in SP9 is NOT available in SP19.  So is it o.k. to transport the content of the template since the IVIEW is missing in SP19.
    Thanks
    Angie.
