Portaldeveloping with AppServer 10g R2 and eclipse

Hello guys,
i am very new to portaldeveloping and oracle. Hope you can help me and give me a start.
I have the ApplicationServer 10g R2 installed(Infrastructure and BI).
A second PC i want to use for developing. On that PC i installed the current eclipse version with j2ee and the oracle enterprise pack for eclipse.
The Hostname is for example: myHome.domain.net.
How must i configure eclipse to develop a portal or WebApplication for that ApplicationServer? Do i have to add a Server with hostname? And which OC4J Version i have to choose?
Thanks a ton in advance!
By the way, sorry for my bad englisch. I am german.
Best regards
Sunny

Hello Guys,
no ideas?
When i try to add a Server runtime environment and choose the Oracle OC4J Standalone 10.1.3 and select the j2ee/home directory from the Applicationserver i get the errorMessage:
'Missing classpath entry W:\j2ee\home\lib\asm.jar'
I don't have the asm.jar :(
I have the current oracle eclipes pack for eclipse 3.5 installed. Does this version only supports the WebLogic? How can i get Access to the AppServer 10gR2?
Or is it better to use Jdevelop?
Best regards Sunny

  • Solaris 10 and Hitachi LUN mapping with Oracle 10g RAC and ASM?

    Hi all,
    I am working on an Oracle 10g RAC and ASM installation with Sun E6900 servers attached to a Hitachi SAN for shared storage with Sun Solaris 10 as the server OS. We are using Oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3) RAC clusterware
    for the clustering software and raw devices for shared storage and Veritas VxFs 4.1 filesystem.
    My question is this:
    How do I map the raw devices and LUNs on the Hitachi SAN to Solaris 10 OS and Oracle 10g RAC ASM?
    I am aware that with an Oracle 10g RAC and ASM instance, one needs to configure the ASM instance initialization parameter file to set the asm_diskstring setting to recognize the LUNs that are presented to the host.
    I know that Sun Solaris 10 uses /dev/rdsk/CwTxDySz naming convention at the OS level for disks. However, how would I map this to Oracle 10g ASM settings?
    I cannot find this critical piece of information ANYWHERE!!!!
    Thanks for your help!

    You don't seem to state categorically that you are using Solaris Cluster, so I'll assume it since this is mainly a forum about Solaris Cluster (and IMHO, Solaris Cluster with Clusterware is better than Clusterware on its own).
    Clusterware has to see the same device names from all cluster nodes. This is why Solaris Cluster (SC) is a positive benefit over Clusterware because SC provides an automatically managed, consistent name space. Clusterware on its own forces you to manage either the symbolic links (or worse mknods) to create a consistent namespace!
    So, given the SC consistent namespace you simple add the raw devices into the ASM configuration, i.e. /dev/did/rdsk/dXsY. If you are using Solaris Volume Manager, you would use /dev/md/<setname>/rdsk/dXXX and if you were using CVM/VxVM you would use /dev/vx/rdsk/<dg_name>/<dev_name>.
    Of course, if you genuinely are using Clusterware on its own, then you have somewhat of a management issue! ... time to think about installing SC?

  • Working with Object Relational model and Eclipse

    Hello,
    I have mad some types and typed tables in a schema on oracle 10g.
    My database respects the Object Relational model, in which I work with VARRAY, TYPES, NESTED TABLES, PL/SQL,...
    I have already install Enterprise Pack for Eclipse, and also have the Weblogic server, And I can generate tables. But the problem is that it gives to me this tables with wrong types, until they contains in fact other tables as Objet column, and also the types are not supported.
    Please need a help !
    Thank's in advance :)

    Hi,
    I want to make sure I understand the problem but will try to give you some information as well. So you have an Oracle 10g database in which you are using the object-relational database model with VARRAY's, etc. You say you are also trying to generate tables, but the generation is not working correctly. Are you using the "Generate tables from entities..." functionality? What is the source of the generated tables? I assume you generating from some type of JPA entity? Could you give a small example of the source you are generating from?
    In order to generate proper tables of this type, you would need to be using special TopLink/EclipseLink annotations such as @Array so the persistence provider would know that they are "special" and not just regular entities that would create standard relational tables.

    Thank you for your replay,
    well I'm generating that with "Generate tables from entities" of eclipse link.
    this is an example of what I have in the database:
    [DB-SCRIPT|http://www.mediafire.com/view/?n3knwz1o4ggk50n]
    and this is what is generated(eclipselink-orm.xml):

  • Getting started with Flex Builder, BlazeDS and Eclipse

    Hi,
    I'm a java developer looking at RIA for the first time. I'm really excited about BlazeDS and object remoting, but I can't get a working dev environment together. I'm assuming I should use Flex Builder for the client code, Eclipse Europa for the java webapp code, and deploy from both IDEs into the BlazeDS-equipped turnkey-Tomcat. I haven't found a tutorial explaining how to deploy a new webapp with this setup.
    The turnkey-Tomcat sample app works fine. Trouble starts when I try to create  a new project in Flex Builder. I don't understand the 'debug' deployment that Flex Builder does. Why are there 2 versions of my app, the regular and the debug versions? What is exactly the project structure that I'm supposed to have in Tomcat?
    The specific error I encounter when trying to deploy a new Flex project is this:
    [MessagingError message='Destination 'productService' either does not exist or the destination has no channels defined (and the application does not define any default channels.)']
    I do have a default channel configured for my environment in services-config:
    And I do have a valid destination configured in remoting-config (I'm mostly interested in object remoting):
                test.ProductService
    Here's the client code:
    What am I doing wrong? Where can I get help on these specific topics? Also, does anyone have an Ant build file that would automate this sort of deployment?
    Thanks!

    Hi Peter,<br />I don't have problems passing JavaBeans to Flex. For collections, I used DataGrid, it displayed my collection seamlessly, except I don't get column headers, just a column index number. For receiving a single JavaBean, I had a little more trouble, until I tried to display it with a DataGrid: it displayed a single row that represented my data, with each java property name used as a column header, and object attributes were displayed as 'object'. These 2 experiences led me to these conclusions:<br />- for the collection, Flex converted each element into an ordered list of attributes<br />- for the single bean, Flex converted it into a hierarchy of Maps of attributes<br /><br />I didn't create a Flex value object. Flex is doing it automatically,very much like in JavaScript/JSON: dynamic objects.<br /><br />Here's the remote object markup:<br /><br /><!-- We target the remote Java object through BlazeDS gateway: --><br />     <mx:RemoteObject id="myRemoteObject" destination="productService" <br />                          fault="Alert.show(event.fault.faultString, 'Error');"><br />          <mx:method name="getProductsCount" result="setProductsCount(event)"><br />               <mx:arguments><br />                    <arg1>{productSC}</arg1><br />               </mx:arguments><br />          </mx:method><br />          <mx:method name="getProducts"><br />          <!-- search params are wrapped in a model, ProductSC (will be converted to a Map on <br />                the server side by BlazeDS): --><br />               <mx:arguments><br />                    <arg1>{productSC}</arg1><br />                    <!-- This works because we declared these to be Bindable: --><br />                    <arg2>{pager.pageSize}</arg2><br />                    <arg3>{pager.currentPage}</arg3><br />               </mx:arguments><br />          </mx:method><br />          <mx:method name="getProduct" result="goToView()"><br />          <!--<mx:method name="getProduct">--><br />               <mx:arguments><br />                    <arg1>{selectedRecordId}</arg1><br />               </mx:arguments><br />          </mx:method><br />     </mx:RemoteObject><br /><br />And here's the dataGrid that displays the bean collection:<br /><br /><mx:DataGrid id="myDataGrid" <br />                               dataProvider="{myRemoteObject.getProducts.lastResult}" <br />                               change="selectRecord();"<br />                               width="100%" height="100%" ><br />               </mx:DataGrid><br /><br />Let me know how it goes, I'd be glad to assist if I can.<br />Miguel

  • CONNECTING ORACLE 9I OR 10G DATABASE WITH ORACLE 10G FORMS AND REPORTS

    pls tell how to connect oracle 9i or 10g database with oracle developer suite 10g . though the forms are getting connected but not running with error as
    FRM-10142 the HTTP listner is not running on pls start the listner or check your runtime preferences.
    now pls tell how to start listner and how to chage runtime preferences.
    though i have worked with oracle 9i and forms 6i where we used to copy the tnsnames.ora from network/admin of oracle to forms 6i tnsnames.ora.
    thank you, you may be thinking such a long question.....

    sir
    By server i mean the computer where oc4j and backend database are running is one one of the client pc not a dedicated server..., these database and 10g dev suite are installed in one of the client machine,
    all the clients are using same internet explorer as browser.
    no message is being displyed on some of the client machine where these forms are not being uploaded on browser instead it displays as done in status bar without actually showing anything at all...
    sir so far as jinitiator or JRE is concered i have seen on the client machine (where my forms are running on internet explorer) a pop up is displyed telling one activex control is required to run this program and click to install it..
    after clicking it download jinitiator from server and after installing jinitiator my forms are loaded and start functioning...
    what i feel is as i said this machine where oc4j and database is running is one of the client machine so some other clients do not have acess to this machine, so this might be the reason why those clints are not able to run the said forms on the internet explorer.... can it be so... kindly tell..
    thank you for your patience for reading the question

  • Debuging with Sun java AS and eclipse

    hi,
    i'm using eclipse 3.4 and sun java as 8.2 as application server.
    when i used first tomcat and in my code i put system.out.println("...") the console showed the result, now using sun as i can not see anything ?
    what to do to print in the console (without running in debug mode if possible).

    I found an acceptable work-around for this issue of not being able to specify Sun Java as the default JRE for browsers in our environment.
    I replaced our APPLET tags with OBJECT tags in our HTML code.  This allowed me to specify a Java version using a classid value, like so:
    Original APPLET tag:
    <applet name="SPCchart" code="iSPCChart" codebase="/XMII/Classes" archive="illum8.zip" mayscript>
      <param name="QueryTemplate" value="Metrics_ING/ING_010Query">
      <param name="DisplayTemplate" value="Metrics_ING/ING_010SPCChart">
    </applet>
    New OBJECT tag:
    <object  name="SPCChart" classid="clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-FFFF-ABCDEFFEDCBA" mayscript>
      <PARAM name="code" value="iSPCChart">
      <PARAM name="codebase" value="/XMII/Classes">
      <PARAM name="archive" value="illum8.zip">
      <param name="QueryTemplate" value="Metrics_ING/ING_010Query">
      <param name="DisplayTemplate" value="Metrics_ING/ING_010SPCChart">
    </object>
    The specific classid specifies any Java version in the 1.6.0 family.  (We're using 1.6.0_05)
    We're not yet in production so we're not talking about having to update thousands of APPLET tags.
    Does anyone see any problem to this approach - switching APPLET tags to OBJECT tags and specifying the appropriate Java CLASSID?

  • Can't get JSP debugging to work with WebLogic 6.0 and Eclipse 2.1.1

    Is native JSP debugging supported in WebLogic 6.0? If so, what are
              the steps involved in getting it to work? I'm in debug mode and my
              servlets will catch at my breakpoints but the JSP pages' breakpoints
              are ignored. I am using compliance level 1.3 and a JRE 1.3. I tried
              to start WebLogic with the 1.4.2 JRE but I get an exception error on
              the WLS JDK name" field. What am I missing here?
              Thanks!

    I appear to have solved it, but it is not clear to me why.
    I created a jar file of the required classes, and placed it in the same directory as the jsp file. My jsp code then looked like:
    <jsp:plugin type="applet" code="nz.astarte.ganttapplet.GanttApplet"
    codebase="."
    archive="GanttApplet.jar"
    jreversion="1.3.1"
    width="400" height="175">
    <jsp:fallback>
    Plugin support could not be determined
    </jsp:fallback>
    </jsp:plugin>
    This works fine. However I would expect to be able to move the jar file to some other directory, so that the jar file and jsp files are separated. I spent hours trying to work out why it wouldn't work when I had the jar
    file in WEB-INF/classes (under the jsp file directory) and had codebase="WEB-INF/classes/". In the end I put the jar file into a directory I defined separately called wotnot and defined codebase="wotnot/"
    Now it works. However I still think I should be able to have the jar file anywhere, including WEB-INF/classes and would love for someone to tell me why not!
    Thanks, Andrew

  • Insert CLOB values problem with 9.2 drivers and not with 10

    Hi
    We are using Oracle 9.2.0.5. We need to insert values bigger than 4000bytes using thin connection, so we've decided to use CLOB fields. With the 9.2.0.5 driver we can't do it, obtaining the classical exception explaining the data is bigger than the supported size but with the 10g driver (and, of course, same java code) it worked. The problem is that we want to mantain the equivalence between the database and driver not using the 10g driver with the 9.2.0.5 version of the db.
    Here it's the test code we've used:
    Data generation:
              String data = "";
              Random rnd = new Random();
              long cont = 10000;
              while (cont > 0){
                   int result = rnd.nextInt(255);
                   data = data + result;
                   cont--;
              Integer id = new Integer(2);
    Data insertion:
                   String queryString="INSERT INTO TMP_BUG_ORACLE (ID, VALOR) VALUES (?,?)";
                   preparedStatement = connection.prepareStatement(queryString);
                   preparedStatement.setInt(1,1);
                   preparedStatement.setString(2,this.datos);
                   int numero = preparedStatement.executeUpdate();
                   System.out.println("Items inserted: " + numero);
                   preparedStatement.close();
                   connection.close();
    Table structure
         Name:          Type:
         ID           NUMBER
         VALOR      CLOB
    Response (only with 9.2.0.5 driver):
    java.sql.SQLException: El tamaño de los datos es mayor que el tamaño máximo para este tipo: 25708 (Data size is bigger than the maximum for this type: 25708)
    Thank you very much for all

    Hi,
    I had exactly the same problem. on Oracle 9.2 I wanted to insert a template file bigger than 4K. with the ojdbc14.jar from Oracle 9.2 it was not possible.
    What I did was this:
    I have used a JDBCwrapper to fix this issue. I can send it to you, if you send me your email.
    When I use the ojdbc14.jar from Oracle 10, I cannot insert a bigger file.
    How did you code your programm to insert big size data into a CLOB field with ojdbc14.jar driver from 10?
    thank you for your response

  • Install Oracle 9i client on a computer with Oracle 10g Client

    Hello all!!
    I'm using a computer with Oracle 10g client, and I access two databases. One server has Oracle 10g server, and the other server has Oracle 9i server.
    I want to install 9i client, to have it also in my computer. I haver read that I just have to install it in a different ORACLE_HOME, but I have a doubt.
    If I install 9i client, would I be able to use the utilities, (exp, expddp, sqlldr) of both versions, or which version will be used in the command line for the utilities.
    Thanks a lot!!!

    To start with, Home Selector is a "9i thing" (and older), in 10g there's the OUI -> Installed Products... -> Environment tab instead.
    About the 9i dbca with other Oracle products installed. If you use launch.exe to start via dbca start menu shortcut, it uses ora92\assistants\dbca as working directory ("start from"). So when not looking for "numbered dlls" like oracore9.dll, a later/different version will be loaded if earlier in path, since loading goes through jre directories, ora92\assistants\dbca, then the dir's from path variable. From there it may start to link in libraries from different homes (on my laptop, "launch.exe dbca" uses files from 2 additional home paths!)
    But, if you instead use dbca.bat started from ora92\bin, it will look in the right directories first and there's no dll mess-up. (But only when using the correct cwd!)
    Plain and simple: stay very far away from multiple-general-home installs. It is possible to install allright, in different homes and all very nicely, but there will be pain when you decide to use the stuff (perhaps with sql*plus as the only exception, but I've run into bugs with that too).

  • Error with ALBPM 10g / JAX-WS and WebLogic 10g

    Folks/People/Community:
    I have an application client running over weblogic 10g. This application needs to be integrated with an external WebServices running under ALBPM 10g and implemented using jax-ws.
    So far our application client running in standalone mode outside the weblogic server works without problems. But, running inside WebLogic 10g the application cannot establish connection with this external webservice and the exception is attached here. Also I'm sending our client source code.
    Please, do you know if WebLogic 10g requires special configurations in order to enable this type of communication?. We have other applications already integrated with other WebService providers without problems so far today. Only this interface is failing and honestly I don't know what is the problem.
    Thanks a lot in advance for your help!.
    Gabriel.

  • ODAC with Oracle 10g and Visual Studio 2008

    Hello-
    Is the an ODAC version supporting Oracle 10g with tools for Visual Studio 2008? I've installed the ODAC 11.2 version for VS 2008, however the Oracle data source connection does not display for the Data Entity Model, only the usual SQL Server connections.
    Thank you in advance!

    Hello again-
    First off, thank you for prompt reply. After poring over some of the postings, I'm gaining an understanding of when ODAC and the Entity Designer marriage came together and your answer solidified it.
    My situation is I've developed an ODATA service with VS2010, Oracle 11g and ODTwithODAC112030 and everything works fine. I then deploy the service to the company's Windows 2003 server using Oracle 10g. I've also went ahead an installed the ODTwithODAC112030 on the server and copied the tnsnames.ora file into the oracle client's directory associated with the ODAC installation. When I query the Oracle database's metadata in IE, e.g. http://localhost:8050/DataMgmt/$metadata, a listing is displayed as expected; however, when I query a particlar database table listed in the metadata, an error is returned that the request could not be processed. Any ideas?
    Thank you.

  • Oracle 11g compatibility with oracle 10g and 9i?

    Hi All
    I have some queries on 11g compatibility.
    Is oracle 11g client compatible with oracle 10g client which is already installed on desktop?
    If yes any changes to be done and where?
    Is oracle 11g compatible with oracle 10g/9i on the same server where 10g/9i are installed?
    Regards

    Thanks Justin Thats right ...
    Problem elaboration is as follows
    We currently have an application which requires oracle 10g(10.2.0.3) client to connect to database from user desktops. As
    part of new application development the oracle 11g clients need to be installed on all the user deskotps.
    The complete application software along with oracle client 11g has to be roled out on these desktop as part of
    implementaion of new application besides the existing application(The application software is packaged along with oracle
    10g client).
    We would like to understand if there is any software provided by oracle using which we can switch between different oracle
    versions while accessing the respective applications simultaneously. Also are there any known bugs/issues in running
    oracle 10g client and oracle 11g client together on the same user desktops with different oracle homes?
