Portlet navigation : Changing pages

I have a portlet that lists my employees, and in each line i have a link that opens a dynamic page that show information concerning the line employee.
In this page, i have Master Details form. I want to create a link in this page, that can return to the first page.
Please note that i open the second page/portlet in the same space area. They both share the same URL.
I have tried to use a link with javascript:history.go(-1) that works fine only if i don't navigate on the second form.
How can i do that?

There is no "Data Central" other than maybe a merge from Address Book/Contacts.
Like everything you need to look at the problem and think about how to do what you want.
In this case a simple Search and Replace will do the trick.

I installed the starter provider and it shows up in the portlet navigator but when i try to add it to an page i can select the provider but it does not show the 2 portlets.

Hi,
Your system is probably using "realms" to give access to different stores (punchout catalogs) to different responsibilities/users. Please add the missing store/punchout catalog to the realm assigned to the responsibility where you are not able to view the store.

Hitting portlet action and changing page

I have a button in my header, from which I need to invoke a specific action on a specific portlet, then change to its page. I'm successfully invoking the action, but how can I then change to the page containing that portlet?

This can also be done using backing context in pageflow action.

Lookup column is the attribute of file. Attribute can not be upload! . Did you try to use the content type of link to document? If yes, you can understand my question. I want to change uploaded.aspx ( link of document) and add lookup column to this form.

Unable to bind portlet parameter with page parameter in webcenter portal

Hi All,
I am trying to bind portlet parameter with the page parameter so that I can ahieve some business requirements.
Here is what I did,
In my Portlet producer application:
1) Created standards based portlet (jsr 286) with view.jspx and edit.jspx with rest of the things being default.
2) In my portlet.xml created two parameters and assigned these parameters to the portlet created above.
3) In the view.jspx added couple of output label adf components in the page.
4) deployed this to integrated weblogic server.
In my WC portal application:
Created a new page and added the portlet to this page( WSRP connection already exists).
deployed portal application on integrated server.
In the edit mode of the page I added one page parameter(Param1) and some default (constant) value added.
What I want is this:
when Param1 value is One display first output label and
when Param1 value is Two display second output label.
I am using jdev 11.1.1.5.0 with integrated weblogic server.

There is no need to use page parameters for this.
You also have two types of parameters depending on what you want...
1) Preferences: these parameters can be used on a user based level. This means that users can personalize the portlets. When a user change the value of a preference, it is only applied for that specific user
2) Public parameters: these parameters are used to customize the portlet. The value you set in these parameter apply for all users.

The portlet has 4 inputText on it. The first two can be set by specifying One or Two into the preference.
The other 2 inputText uses the value of the public parameter.
You should only deploy the portlet and consume it in a webcenter application. In the webcenter application, you don't need to do anything special. All is done in the portlet.
I am guessing you don't have written the code that will get the value of the parameter:
in case of a preference you will get the value by following code:

1. I tried changing page size in iWeb 1 but it didn't work. Does it work in 08?

Hiding Portlets in Different page

Hi All,
This is my requirement..
I have portal which has two pages Page1 and Page2..And each page has a portlet in it
Initially when the portal gets loaded, Page 2 needs to be hidden which i have done it by setting the property hidden=true for the page2
Page1 has a portlet A which has a button.. When i click on that button, the portletB in the page2 should be visible..
Usually hiding portlets is easier when it happens in the same page but how do we implement the above scenario across the pages

Setting portlet visibility is possible (regardless of what page the portlet is on) from inside the portlet's event handling method by getting the PortletBackingContext and calling the setVisible() method.
I'm guessing that what you want is to have the page that the portlet is on get automatically displayed when the button on your first portlet is clicked. To cause a different page to be displayed, the easiest way is to send an event, and have a portlet on the page you want to change to listen for that event and "activate" the page. For example, in your .portlet file on the page you want to change to:

Passing Parameters between 2 Portlets on 1 Page

Hi,
I'm new to this portlet stuff and I might miss something important, but:
I "just" want to send parameters from one form on one Page to a portlet on the same page...
PassAllParameters is already set to true...
I also have read the "Primer" and the "Adding Parameters and Events to Portlets", after giving up to do this my own, I just copied and pasted the Name/Age Form JSP (nearly... I've made Java out of it...) as my DataProvider Portlet and copied and pasted the "Generic Public Parameter Receiving Portlet" as my DataReceiver Portlet... the Event and Parameter Tags are NOT missing in the provider.xml... but even after pressing submit there are no parameters at all avaible for the "receiving Portlet"!!!
PLEASE can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?!?!?!?

Error changing pages in default viewer

I have a simple Struts2 application on which there is a button, which when pressed causes the app to display a report in a viewer.
Since the application existed already, I added CR using the option in CR4E. I also used the menu option with default options to create the viewer JSP. When I go to the page, the report displays, however, when you click on the page navigation control to change pages you get the following error message:
Unable to process your request
And the details for this are:
name: SyntaxError message: Syntax error number: -2146827286 description: Syntax error
When I use the report in a simple application created from the CR4E wizard, it works just fine.
Any ideas???

1. Verify that crystalreportviewers/ is accessible to your WebApp and is the correct path to the viewer resources.
2. You may customize this location by altering the crystal_image_uri and crystal_image)use_relative properties in web.xml.
3.Validate that the file crv.js exists at crystalreportviewers/js/crviewer/crv.js

HELP! Exception when Programmatically Adding a Portlet to a Page

We have been able to programmatically add WSRP Producers and Portlets into the BEA's local registry with WebLogic Portal 8.1 SP3. When we try to programmatically add a portlet to a page from within a JSP portlet we are hitting an issue. We are getting an exception when we try to call the addPlaceable method on the page instance manager. Here's the code snippet I'm using to programmatically add a portlet to a page:

Having same portlet on a page more than once

I am faced with the task of allowing a user to add the same portlet to a page multiple times. The concept is identical to this: we have five news feeds and one 'News' portlet. We want a user to be able to add the 'News' portlet to a custom page as many times as they want. Then, within the preferences, they choose which of the feeds to display in each portlet window.
Is this possible? It doesn't have to be a matter of choosing a preference-- the requirement is just that the user can choose wich feed to display and we do not have to create a whole new web scv and portlet for each feed that we add.
Any help is greatly appreciated. We are using Plumtree 5.0.2 and have the EDK/GDK available in case there is a solution by writing Java code.

Two options:
Change the portlet logic so it accepts multiple feeds and presents them all in one portletRegister multiple instances of the portlet against the single web service - they should all have separate prefsDepends on how you want to present the content. One gets you a single portlet with content in one place - the other gets you the ability to have multiple portlets distributed on the page. Personally, I find the latter maddening, but it depends on the audience and your threshhold for pain.

Navigation Panel Pages button not displaying thumbnail pages

Version of Acrobat = Standard 8.0.0
OS = Win XP SP2
Networked Dell Optiplex 620
61.6GB Free disk space
No error messages
The Navigation Panel Pages button will not display pages in thumbnail format.
When clicked the highlight around the button icon changes from a square with rounded corners, to just rounded corners on the left of the highlight. The right hand side of the highlight is cut off straight as if by the thumbnail panel that isnt visible.
This behaviour is also repeated on the Bookmarks and Signatures buttons in the navigation Panel as well.
Fiddling around with all the navigation panel settings or the document settings I can find has not made the thumbnail pages reappear.
I havent been able to access the Updates section of the Adobe website today to apply any relevant updates.

Just in case, I would go through the updates to get AA8.1.2 and check if that was a bug in 8.0.0.

Portlet size changes

I have a page with some tabs and a news portlet to the right of these. Just below the news portlet I have a favorites portlet.
Why does the page change the apperence (size) of the portlets when I add my news portlet??
The window is the same size, but to se the whole portlet I have to drag the window size to the right after I have put the news portlet on my page.
When I only have my favorites portlet it is about 2,5 inch wide but when I add my news portlet both gets about 6 inch wide.
The text in the news folder is only about 2-3 inches wide so in the portlet I get an empty space to the left of the text.
Why does it render the page like this? I want it to keep the portlets small otherwise the users have to scroll the window to see the news portlet.

I am having a similar problem. I have checked my Porlets as indicated in the "Forum Usage Tips" -- I've set the text as small as is readable, changed items from Regular to Quick Picks, etc. all in hopes of making my Portlets smaller. No change.
My Portlets are Content Area sub-folders published as Portlets but don't have much information in them other than some basic links.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to make my Porlets smaller??

I m implementing a locale change page, on which I have 2 portlets. On clicking on the link on one of the portlet, the locale of the page changes to the new locale as specified by the user.
I added following to the portlet.xml
Code:

<supported-locale>es</supported-locale>
And as the portlet container decides on the locale, I added the

HttpServletResponse res = (HttpServletResponse) request.getAttribute("javax.servlet.response");
res.setHeader("Accept-Language", "es_US");
to the handleRenderRequestInternal method of the class extending AbstractController(Spring Portlet Framework) used by the locale changing portlet.
On reload or on form GET method, the page does not change the locale.
Am I missing something.

ORA-06502 on "Help Text" region when changing pages on a tabular form

Hello everybody,
We are developing an application on Apex 4.1.0.00.32. This application have some pages with tabular forms and these pages uses a page zero as template. In this page zero, we have added two sidebar regions: a list region to navigate on the application and a help text to describe how to use our application.
The problem occurs when the tabular split the records into pages (since it has more records that it can show on a single page). When the user clicks to change to another page, Apex raises an ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error as described below:
