Portlet Wizard in 10g

Hi Guys and Gals,
I installed the 'portal-addin-install.jar' in JDev10g. After creating a test portlet using the wizard I tried to compile and run the view.jsp file and got the following error:

Hi ,
Please try running index.jsp file for your portlet,
and on the resulting page,click on the link under service name.If the Test Page comes up fine then your provider is fine.
I am not sure if you can run view.jsp directly

    Hi,
    I am new to weblogic portal.

    Hi Syed,
    Sorry for the delay in responding. You'll have to contact your BEA support representative,
    and they can supply you with the SP2 upgrade installer, to upgrade your current

  • Is there a CM SDK portlet for Portal 10g Release 2 ?

    I originally posted this under the content topic within the Oracle Portal forum and someone suggested that I post it here.
    Has anyone found or developed a portlet that can be used to access content stored in a CM SDK repository? We have a substantial amount of content stored in a 9iFS repository that we propose to migrate to CM SDK. We would like to maintain and publish some of this content through Portal. There are several Oracle white papers that mention close integration between Portal and CM SDK but I have been unable to find any real implementation examples.
    Thanks in advance - Niels
    -- Suggestion by Christian Hauser ---
    hi niels,
    please post this question in the OCS forum since OCS are providing the portlets. from what i know there is 2 ways of integrating content from content services:
    - use the omniportlet datasource for content services to publish content
    - use the content services portlet that are provided by the OCS team
    hope this helps.
    regards,
    christian

    Hi Niels
    Are you after a portlet for CM SDK, or for our new Oracle Content Services?
    9iFS evolved in to CM SDK.
    Content Services evolved (at least in concept) from Oracle Files which is built on the CM SDK.
    What functionality are you expecting in the portlet?
    Content Services ships with both an out-of-the-box portlet that shows "My Recent Files", and also allows one to configure folder navigation links to Content Services. The navigation links when clicked result in the portlet rendering the direct folder listing for the folder. When items in the folder listing are clicked, they ship the user off to the DAV server to open the sub-folder/document.
    Content Services also supports OmniPortlet access which among a host of features allows one to dynamically configure a result listing from a search in content services. Parameters can be configured for the omni portlets and values submitted to it via the page url. A parameter form allows one to enter particular criteria (such as a filename pattern) that can be submitted to the portal page and then intercepted by omni portlet to apply to the search query.
    Matt.

    You need to install Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 and then run a simple repository upgrade to bring Oracle Portal to 10.1.4. This will enable the 3rd registration option: WSRP. This is the OTN software download page.

  • JPDK Wizard for JDeveloper 10g

    Hi there,
    I have tried to created a Java Portlet using the Wizard with jdev10G and it did not work. I am welling to try 903 but I cannot find the PDK for it. Yes I have looked all over PortalStudio.oracle.com. Is anyone have the link to download the PDK for jdev903?
    Also I have tried for two days to make the Java Portlet Wizard work with 10G with no luck. Why are they posting somehting that doesn't work? This is really frustrating.

  • Writing a JSR168 portlet WITHOUT using Jdeveloper or "wizards"

    I have a JSR168 portlet that is built using Maven (http://maven.apache.org/ if you don't know what that is).
    It deploys and operates perfectly well into a portlet container such as Pluto (the standard, reference container from Apache).
    Pluto supplies a Maven plugin, that takes the vanilla web.xml and other configuration e.g. portlet.xml and adds the necessary configuration to run the portlet in the container. I believe there is an Ant plugin that does exactly the same thing.
    It adds the following conf to teh web.xml;
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>my-portlet-name</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>org.apache.pluto.core.PortletServlet</servlet-class>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>portlet-name</param-name>
    <param-value>my-portlet-name</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>my-portlet-name</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>/PlutoInvoker/my-portlet-name</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    This is the "magic" that glues my portlet to the portlet container.
    What I wish to know, is how to make my JSR168 portlet deploy into Oracle Portal 10g without EVER using JDeveloper. What is the 'magic' I have to apply to my web.xml or portlet.xml or other configuration that will men I can deploy my portlet war into the app server and make it talk turkey with the portal container. I can cope with just having a customised web.xml that I have to copy into the WAR file if need be ... if I could find some guidance what should be in that file.
    It seems that every search I've done in google or though the doco we have here starts with "Start Jdeveloper and select XXX in the portlet wizard".
    I do not use Jdeveloper and nor will I. I will continue to build my Java code in a correct fashion, i.e. on the command line with my standard build tools that don't involve the IDE. Don't get me wrong, I use an IDE, but one should never be mandated. In my book, "wizards" are about the worst imaginable way to get any programming task completed.

    Hi Marcel
    With respect, it's patently obvious that we know how to develop a portlet without Jdeveloper, because if you read the message you would have been able to discern that this is the way we are accustomed to doing it, and it's faster, easier and more portable that way. I've been doing J2EE development since the first version of the spec and well before there was an Oracle implementation of it.
    You don't actually need an EAR file, as a WAR will suffice and the dcmctl command-line utility can supply everything else in its arguments (like, context-path and the like), and it allows each WAR artifact to be deployed in different times, i.e. when they are built on the integration server. I find EAR files usually too heavyweight especially as I rarely write EJBs, as opposed to using e.g. Spring.
    Using the web browser is not an option for automated deployment and acceptance testing from an integration build server.
    Configuring the portal side of things looks decidedly a different matter and I've not found anyway to do it from the command line, it demands the browser, which is a let-down.
    It's terribly disappointing the paucity of information about automation of deployment as opposed to the positively verdant amount of presentations, tutorials and documentation that assumes top-to-bottom Oracle tooling and environment and browser-based configuration. Even where it's actually possible Oracle doesn't seem to want to tell people about it or do as I believe they should, which is regard this form of deployment and configuration as the default way to teach developers how to use their products. None of this helps build and deploy to Oracle products using test-driven development, continuous integration, and automated acceptance testing, all of which are usually regarded as essential parts of a modern developers toolkit by the best minds in the business.
    So after we're left alone to discover how to do this by ourselves for a month you can forgive my disappointment at being lectured like I was some neophyte who doesn't know how to make a WAR file with textedit.

  • Is there a portal 10g portlet for CMSDK?

    I am looking for a CMSDK Portal portlet for 9as 10g. Is there one available?
    Thanks.

    AFAIK, CMSDK does not come with a Portlet (iFS once did but after one or two clicks, you where out of Portal and in iFS' webui).
    As webui does not exist anymore, the portlet disappeared as well.
    I had a look at portal studio but there does not seem to be any contributions over CMSDK.
    If you have some exposure to the Portal Struts Provider, you might want to try to 'portletize' the webstarter application II as it is written in Struts. You will still need to arrange something about the upload and download part as it will not be supported by the PPE (Upload: PPE will not forward a stream to your portlet, Download, Portlet should only serve html content, no doc, pdf, ...).
    Hope this helps

  • Why is it not possible to write a UIX (or ADF) portlet for 9iAS?

    Hi,
    I have been trying for months to create a UIX/BC4J portlet for 9iAS but have been unsuccessful. The documentation and examples cover doing this with JSPs (there is a nice Forum application available for download on portalstudio). However all of my attempts to use UIX have hit a brick wall - we want to use UIX, not JSP!
    I have raised a TAR on Metalink and it has been going back and forth for several months. The support analyst has finally closed it in frustration because he cannot even tell me whether it is possible, let alone give me an example! I have investigated the JPDK and all of the UIX documentation I can get hold of, and have also looked at the ADF components in 10g, and the "Java Portlet Wizard" for Jdeveloper, but they are so far all dead ends. Can anyone help me, or explain why it is that a (to me anyway) SIMPLE and LOGICAL integration of two Oracle frameworks is impossible.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Steve -
    Thanks for the info. I have a few more questions...
    Andy,
    Yes, this is exactly the issue. Currently I am
    invoking the UIX servlet not as a registered portlet
    but as a hard-coded URL link on the portal page.Are you saying that in order to access the UIX application, the user clicks on a link which navigates out of Portal? If so, is this by design, or did you go this route because of problems creating a portlet for your UIX servlet? That is, would you prefer to have your UIX application run inside of Portal as a portlet, or do you explicitly not want this?
    Also, can you provide more background about your deployment environment? In particular, is the UIX application running locally on the same machine as Portal, or remotely on another machine? Is the UIX application running in the same application server/servlet engine as Portal?
    The application runs connected to the database but
    without the context of the SSO Portal user. I want to
    be able to display the Portal username on the uix
    pages, have the VPD context in the database
    connection (we have striped the tables but it only
    works if connected via Portal!!) and potentially have
    access to some of the extended Portal functionality
    in the JPDK (this last one a "nice to have").Unfortunately I have no idea whether this is possible, so I'm not going to be much help on my own. The best I can do is try to track down someone who can actually speak to this issue. However, given the lack of documentation and the fact that you weren't able to get a solution through support, I wouldn't be suprised to find that this type of integration simply isn't supported yet.
    I think you mentioned in the TAR that you had seen support for similar integration with Struts. If you know of documentation which shows how to do this type of thing with Struts, could you point me at it?
    Andy
