Portlets in 9iASv2 Question

All,
Anyone have the Discoverer portlets working in 9iASv2?
Running 2 Linux servers and Infrastructure / Middle Tier installs went smoothly and completed without errors.
Haven't been able to get them registered as of yet. Keep getting 'JAZN security' errors.
Thanks
Dennis

Hi,
I've investigated it and found that ClassCastException is hrown, see stack trace. It happens with remote session bean,, local session bean works fine.

  • JPDK June - Portlet customization sample question

    Hi,
    I was wondering whether someone could help me out with the customization sample provided in the JPDK distribution of June.
    Since BaseCustomization usage is deprecated I'm trying to use subclass the 'NameValuePersonalizationObject' class. However until now I've not been able to change title nor (default) message of the portlet. What am I doing wrong?
    Thx.

    Jan,
    I need a few more details here! Do you mean that you have created your own portlet and are having trouble implementing customization?
    Please repost with a few more details, include your usage of NameValuePersonalizationObject and the context in which you are using it.
    Regards,

  • Developing portlet applocations. (Question after IBM experience)

    1. Is there another way to deploy PAR (not in SAP NDS) ?
    2. Which UI framework/taglibs is the best for portlets (HTMLB, WebDynPRO, html with scriplets and so on)?
    For example in IBM I could use only 2  tags in forms
    <form action='<portletAPI:createURI><portletAPI:URIAction name="submit" /></portletAPI:createURI>' >
    <INPUT name="<portletAPI:encodeNamespace value='name'/>" />
    Is there the same taglibs in SAP(If I dont want to use HTMLB or WebDynPro) ? May I use JSF ?
    3. If my application has portlets and servlets. Do I need to create 2 projects and 2 archives (.war for servlets .par for portlets)?

    HI
    In Portal goto
    System administartion-support-Portal Runtime -Administartive COnsole-
    and there you have an option to deploy par.
    Which UI framework/taglibs is the best for portlets (HTMLB, WebDynPRO, html with scriplets and so on)?
    --It depends on what type of applications are you developing. Each one has got its own Advantages. If you are giving importance for look and feel it is better to develop in HTMLB or JSP.FOr "why webdynpro" refer the following thread

  • Inter-portlet (JSR286) in liferay portal

    i had created two portlets using ADF and i can consume them in WebCenter Portal apps. Nothing has to do in the portal side as webcenter auto-wire the portlets. The question is how i can consume the portlets in liferay? is there any step required in the liferay portal site to 'wire' the portlets so that they can communicate with each other? or just like drag and drop in webcenter? I developed the portlets using the guide here: http://yonaweb.be/inter_portlet_communication_jsr_286_and_webcenter_11g_ps3

    Wiring portlets together in liferay not dependend on the portlet. Because your portlets are standard based, liferay doesn't care if they are ADF portlets, JSP portlets or portlets build with other technology.
    Information on how to do this in liferay should be found in the documentation of liferay: http://www.liferay.com/community/wiki/-/wiki/Main/Inter-portlet+communication
    Just a question... Did you had any issues with consuming the portlets in liferay. I have tried it in the past and had lots of issues with libraries and so on. Especially because ADF uses a lot of javascript and I had a hard time configuring it properly with liferay...

  • Migeration of Portlets from Plumtree 5.0 to Oracle WebCenter 10g

    Hello
    We need to migrate portlets in “Oracle WebCenter 10g RC3” from “Plumtree 5.0”. Till now we are using “Plumtree 5.0” and “.Net 1.1” for development of portlets.
    My question is:
    is it possible to run all existing portlets directly (Without any change) on “Oracle WebCenter 10g RC3” or should we have to made some changes in code of all existing portlets (“Plumtree 5.0”) to run on “WebCenter 10g RC3”
    I will appreciate any kind help/information in this regard.
    Thanks in advance
    Mohit

    It is not possible to migrate portal objects from 5.0 to 10g3 or for that matter, any different versions. While migrating, the source and target installation versions should be the same. This is a PREREQUISITE.
    I guess what you are trying to do is to upgrade your Plumtree 5.0 to Oracle WebCenter Interaction 10gR3. This is not directly possible. You will have to do at least 4 intermediate upgrades: 5.0 to 6.0 to 6.1 to 6.5 to 10gR3 (This is not accurate. Please go to edocs.bea.com/alui and go through the upgrade guides for the different versions)
    Please do not confuse between Oracle WebCenter and Oracle WebCenter Interaction. The new name of the Plumtree portal / AquaLogic User Interaction is Oracle WebCenter INTERACTION and this product has been included in the Oracle WebCenter family. There were other member products pre-existing in Oracle WebCenter Product suite and as of now, applications referred to as Oracle WebCenter applications do not actually include OWC Interaction applications. Going forward, these technologies will converge/made interoperable and more combatible.
    I guess you must have realized by now why your question had not evoked much interest here: Wrong Forum :D Please post your queries in Forum Home >> User Interaction and Content Management >> WebCenter Interaction and not in WebCenter Suite - Framework.

  • Wsrp portlet discovery

    Hello!
    I have just installed websynergy-gfv2-linux and started playing with it. I am interested in the WSRP support of the product. Right now, I am trying to do a simple test: I want to use the WSRP portlet discovery mechanism to search for a portlet in a UDDI registry, and then start a WSRP consumer that consumes that remote portlet. The question is: is this operation supported through the admin interface of websynergy? I ask because when I get to the WSRP Consumer Admin interface, I get only the oprion to specify the URL of the producer to which the consumer must connect.
    Thanks,
    Florin.

    Registry support i.e both publishing and discovering is not there in websynergy. There is no plan right now to support it, older portal version esp 6.x had ebxml registry support but this was later dropped.
    However if registry server provides users the option to publish and discover artifacts, you can use it. Its just like publishing and discovering any other artifact on a registry server.

  • "Portlet" level security

    I apologize if this has already been addressed in these forums, but the forum search is not currently working (Internal Server Error).
    I have multiple HTML portlets on my pages. I would like to only show certain HTML portlets to certain user groups. If they were items, I would simply go into item level security and set it appropriately. How do I achieve this with a portlet? This question is not unique to HTML portlets, but actually applies to any portlet. When I set this security, I want it for a specific portlet instance, not the portlet in general (e.g., set security for a HTML portlet 56789 on page 12345, not HTML portlets throughout the entire portal).
    Rgds/Mark M.
    Portal 9.0.2.6

    Programmatic portlets have full control over "their security".
    With Java portlets, for example, you can use various security managers, such as the group security manager that manages which groups have access to your provider and its portlets.
    With non-programmatic portlets a not too nice, but possible workaround is:
    o add the portlet to a dummy page
    o add the dummy page as a portlet to your main page
    o control access to the dummy page.

  • How to make a portlet application using JHeadstart ?

    Dose the JHeadstart 10.1.2.x Struts/JSP application can deploy to Oracle portal as a portlet ?Have any document for reference to make this requirement ?

    Hi!
    I have the same problem and so far I have found the following out of the doc (Portlet developers guide):
    If you want to run your application as a Java (Struts) Portlet, you have to modify at least the generated JSPs. Reasons are e.g. the extension of the struts tags for the URL correction and as I have read there are only HTML tags allowed that you can use in a TABLE tag (no <HTML>, <BODY> and <FRAME> tags).
    Another approach is to try the Web-Clipping Portlet. (That's also on my TODO list :-)
    To test it, I suggest
    - install your JHS app in a separate OC4J
    - Use the web-clipping portlet and reference your JHS app entry page
    The disadvantage of this approach is, that you can't influence the style of your application as you can do with real portlets.
    Open questions are:
    - are all JHS URLs redirected to portlet URLs?
    - is the Javascript code still working especially for LOVs?
    - what happens if the Portal page is refreshed? What page of the JHS application will be displayed?
    As I said I haven't done any deeper research or tests but I am also interested in a solution.

  • Secure Portlet

    Hi all,
    I am read the following white paper,
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oses/pdf/SES_technical_whitepaper_10.1.8.2.pdf
    Under the document, SES AND ORACLE APPLICATION SERVER PORTAL to explain the secure portlet.
    My question is, this is only way to register the portal? or any other way to working on this portlet? If yes, how will work on secure search on Portal.
    My Oracle Portal Version: 10.1.4.1.0
    SES : 10.1.8.2
    Please anyone help me. I am waiting for your valuable reply.
    Thanks!

    Hi all,

  • A very simple question on granting access.

    Hi All,
    I created a very low-level user in portal. I have added the Oracle built-in Favorites portlet to the user?s page. But when the user logs in, she still can't see the Favorites portlet. I usually go to the Navigator, Applications, and the Application and would grant the user access to the Application to the portlet I want to add. This works fine except you can't do for the Oracle built-in Favorites portlet. My question is how do I grant access to the Favorites portlet for a user. I'm sure it is something very easy that I'm missing.
    Many Thanks,
    Tom

    Never mind this question, because I'm an idiot. I had a different page defaulting then I thought. Please disregard this question, and sorry for wasting the forum's space.

  • Externally Published Portlets

    Hi,
    To enable the use of portlets in jsp pages, you first need to enable JSP Access in a page group, then add your portlets to the list of Externally Published Portlets in that page group. Each Externally Published Portlet is basically a pointer to your "internal" portlet.
    My question is: Do you know where this list of Externally Published Portlets is stored in the Portal database schema? I do not believe it is stored in the table wwv_things. Is there a table or view that contains information about Externally Published Portlets?
    The reason I want this information is because I'm trying to write PL/SQL that needs to know where the Externally Published Portlet maps to.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Version: Oracle Portal 10.1.4.0.0 (Build: 594)
    Eddie Awad

    Hi Dagur -
    What version of Portal are you using? Page Portlets can be Externally Published in version 9.0.4.
    To accomplish this in 9.0.4 you must do the following:
    1. On the page you want to run as a portlet, set its properties to publish as portlet.
    2. In Page group properties, configure the page group to allow JSP Access and give an Access Key
    3. In navigator for page group that has JSP access enabled, click on the Externally Published Porlets link
    4. Click "Create New ... Externally Published Portlet"
    5. Click the browse Portlet Icon button to select your portlet, drill down through the "Published Portal Content" folder to find your page portlet
    6. click OK
    Hope this helps,
    Candace

  • URL IView - how to use local URL

    Hi all,
    in my CE 7.11 system I need to create a URL iview which references a local url such as:
    http://CEHOST:CEPORT/<myApplication>.html
    I must reference it as a local url, cannot use copy/paste from PCD since it's not a WDJ or portlet.
    My question is:
    how do I configure an url iview to reference a local url?
    E.g. should I reference the whole URL or just the <myApplication>.html part?
    How do I configure authentication?
    Thanks, regards
    Vincenzo

    You can try using com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Generic component ?
    Use URL Template property with value : <Request.Protocol>://  <Request.ServerPort>/<your application name>.html
    or
    just give /<your application name>.html

  • Ps 7.2 password

    Hi ,
    I have (another) serious problem with Portlet and Sun Portal 7.2
    I'm able to retrieve user info such as name, email , password in my portlet.
    The question is:
    the userPassword attribute is crypted password like:
    {SSHA}49yIzLiU+r1gxXbz5HeyQ7KFZzWXPpJOQ2p7NA==
    how I get the clear text password ???
    Is it a Access Manager configuration problem ?
    thanks in advance.
    Alessandro

    Hello,
    you can't get the clear text password. It is just a hash.
    Former versions of Sun Directory Server can be configured to store clear text passwords - I don't
    know whether this is possible with current versions. But in most cases, it wouldn't be a good idea anyway.
    You can configure Directory Server to use other encryption mechanisms, but I believe they are all
    irreversible.
    Some portlets allow the user to store a separate password - this is a common solution.
    If you need it for Single Sign On with a backend, you could use an Access Manager Agent on the
    backend, if available for your environment.

    Juergen

  • Create File Content Item

    Hello,
    To create a File Content Item in Content server, I know a small blue box will pop up to allow you upload a file from your local drive. When the box is loading, I can see it access a link. But I cannot right click the box to view its properties to get the address after it is load. I need to open (access) this blue box in my portlet. My question is how I can directly call or open this box using EDK in portlet. What is the basic url for this box if I know the folder that I will save my file.
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for your help!
    I tried using SetFilePropertyValue(). It looks like it is the same as SetImagePropertyValue(). You have to upload the file to portlet server first and then using the SetFilePropertyValue() to upload it to Content server. We can not open our portlet server to let everyone upload file to it.
    Now I have to create a content item with a long text field first, and then using ContentItem.editorURL to open the content item edit window. User can upload image file by clicking from there.
    Please let me know if you have a better way.
    Thanks again!

  • How do I make AJAX work in WSRP environment

    I had a single weblogic portal server running for our portal application. We have a portlet is using AJAX. The JSP has 2 drop down box. Based on value in first drop down box populate second drop down box values using AJAX.
    With redesign we implemented WSRP approach for some portlets. Our question is how do I make AJAX portlet work in WSRP environment. The values for second drop down box should come from producer side. Hence request should pass thru consumer side. Here is the function to invoke AJAX function
    function getServicesFromBackend()
         var urlPart = "/dpportal/com/serviceone/sip/ui/service/getService.do?SERVICE_FINDER_SELECTED_OPTION="+selectedCategory+"&PORTLET_INSTANCE_LABEL=servicefinder";
         var protocol = window.location.protocol;
         var host = window.location.host;
         var port = window.location.port;
         var url = protocol + "//" + host + urlPart;
         initRequest(url);
         req.onreadystatechange = processReq;
         req.open("GET", url, true);
         req.send(null);
    How do i change this function to invoke producer action properly?

    Can you pls help me understand on this.
    I opened BEA on this earlier. Here is the response.
    There is no WLP81x support for AJAX at this point, Though you might use it in your application if it works for you. Having said that, Ajax over WSRP 1.0 which is the WSRP specs for 8.1x does not support the Ajax requests over WSRP. A more detailed article can be found at http://www.subbu.org/weblogs/main/2006/02/portlets_and_aj.html
    Response from DRE
    As i mentioned to you earlier, Support can only help troubleshoot an issue for a certified use case. Ajax is not certified on WLP 8.1x lines, although there is nothing we do to prevent you from using Ajax. Also mention to Subbu that you are on WLP 8.x , where the WSRP spec is 1.0. If there is something he can help he will answer through the forum.
