Ports used by SAP BO Client tools

Hi Team ,
We are planning to put our BO Landscape( BO 4.0 SP7 patch 2 ) to be accessible by SAP to trouble shoot. We needs a list of ports we may need to open the from out network to SAP. Could you please tell which all ports are used by BO Client tools to connect to the BO platform , in case SAP may need to connect via client tools.

Hello,
as per default the following Ports need to be open bi- directional on your Firewall as TCP:
6400
8080
8443 (in case you use HTTPS)
But this is not sufficient enough. You also need to narrow down the IFRS and OFRS and open these ports aswell.
I recommend you check the Chapter 7.15 from the BI 4.0 Admin Guide - there is everything explained. And when you start configuring your Firewall, never forget the local Windows Firewall (when your BI deployment is on Windows).

Https call from SAP SOAP client tool

Hi,
in order to call a webservice via https using the SAP SOAP client tool, I've done the following:
1. The Client cert field filled with my personal certificate from IE (pcert.pfx)
2. The Trust store field left as it was (cacerts file of the jre).
When calling the service I am getting
javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: No trusted certificate found
Very likely this is caused by setting 2.
Could anybody advise how to get an X.509 certificate of trusted root CAs? Any chance to export from IE or would one have to get that from a CA? File types required are ppfx or p12, which is strange since these contain private keys.

Hi Rene,
You need to include the full certificate chain in the p12 file. i.e. private cert and root CA cert. IE will not export the full certificate path with the private certificate unless it was imported into IE with this flag set. You could use Firefox to generate the pks12 file. It will include the full certificate path.
This private certificate (p12 file) should then be added to the truststore in XI.
Also, .p12 (pkcs#12) file format defines a file format commonly used to store private keys with accompanying public key certificates - not just private keys.

Which one is the Dashboard tool in SAP BOBJ Client tool 4.1

I am unable to identify the 'Dashboard' in SAP BOBJ Client tool 4.1.
Please find the attached screen shot of all the items present in the complete Suite of BOBJ client 4.1
If the 'Dashboard' tool in SAP BOBJ 4.0 is 'Xcelsius dashboard'., then what is the Dashboard tool in SAP BOBJ Client 4.1.
Below are the tools which got installed after installing SAP BOBJ Client 4.1, out of those please help me identify 'Dashboard Tool"

Hi Ranendra,
Dashboard Designer 4.1 will not be installed automatically with BO Client Tools 4.1. You need to install separately.You can download the Dashboard Designer 4.1 in SAP Market Place(http://service.sap.com).It will ask you license key,you can get temporary license keys for BusinessObjects tools in SAP Market place itself if didn't raise a request for permanent license keys.

SAP BI Client tools are not communicating with BO server

Hi Experts,
We've recently installed BI 4.1 . We're having few issues:
1. When client is installed on different machine then it is not communicating with server. We've already tried few things like untick auto assign from Request server and manually assign static port but it didn't work .
2. Our BO Server is running on AWS Cloud.
3. Client is communicating when installed on server machine.
4. Could you please help our how to resolve this error.
5. CMC and BI launch pad are installed on server side as they're web browser tool and we need to install these on client machine as well. Qns is Do we need to install them or provide just URL link? If just URL like where to get these URL links.
6. We can't see SAP Lumira and SAP Dashboard on Service market place to install. Where we can find these software on Service maket place?
7. Could someone please send screenshot to install Dashboard, Lumira, Analysis office and Crystal report enterprise and crystal report 2013.
8. Do we need to install all these on client machine?
9. Could you please give me software list which should be installed on client machine?
10. As i know there is life cycle management tool but it is not even available from server side not even on client side. Could you please recommend how it can be installed??

Could you confirm that you are able to ping the BO server from Client machine. Also use telnet command from commandline of CMD in client machine. It will help to confirm that port communication is successful. Use ipaddress:cmsport for the system while logging into the client software. Update the hosts file entries at client machine with BO server name and ip address. Create an exception for BO installation location at client machine and check the results

Check on the server side first where your web server is installed (I am assuming tomcat in your scenario). Use http://serverame:8080/BOE/BI and http://servername:8080/BOE/CMC (8080 is default port. If it has been changed use the correct port).
If its working well. Perform the same activity using ipaddress:8080 at server. Next chek whether using the same URL you are able to get BILaunchPad and CMC pages and able to login from the same.
6. We can't see SAP Lumira and SAP Dashboard on Service market place to install. Where we can find these software on Service maket place (https://service.sap.com)?

Look into the admin guide for installation pre-requisites. These are available at Analytics Knowledge Center
We have a drop down for all products. Look for the guide and proceed with the installation.

In BI4.1 LCM comes by default. It is a server application. You can find it in CMC named as Promotion management and version management.
Use the admin guide and installation guide for all of the above. It will help you.

Use the SAP Fiori Client

Dear Community,
I have been creating simple apps using SAPUI5. Especially the sap.m library is very useful in creating applications on mobile apps. Recently I came across the SAP Fiori Client:

This seams like a nice gadget for getting a better performance out of web application. However, I am not able to get something running in this client. All I get is a white screen. I do the following:
1.) Create a new app or download a Fiori app via se38->/UI5/UI5_REPOSITORY_LOAD and make some changes in eclipse
2.) Upload the app to our NW gateway using the team provider
3.) Use runs as->Run on ABAP server
4.) Grep the URL and paste it in the settings of the Fiori Client on my Iphone.
As mentioned before I only get a white screen in the client. If I open the URL directly in the browser of Iphone everythings is fine. Is there something I have to add to my app in order to get it running in the sap fiori client? In the documentation of the client I have not found any hints.
Perhaps anybody can help me out on this one.

thanks for the quick reply. I was using the URL for a specific Fiori app, created when I pressedthe run as->run on ABAP server in eclipse.
So I think your suggestion with the Launchpad is the correct way to go. How do I configure the Fiori Launchpad?
Do you have a reference on this topic? I have found some stuff via google, but I am not sure if this is a good one. (Setup of SAP Fiori Launchpad - SAP Fiori for SAP Business Suite - SAP Library )

BO 4 ports openned to access from client tools

We have a BO 4 installation in a server, we are trying to connect from a PC with the client tools installed (Webi) and we can not access to the system. We are connection thought VPN. Do you know which ports should we open in order to have access?
Which one for CMS, Input FRS, Output FRS...?

Hi,
you have to open the ports for the SIA, CMS, IFRS and OFRS. SIA and CMS are static assigned. IFRS and OFRS have to be assigned manually via the CMC. Open the Services and assign the Port.
Open these Ports bi- directional in your Firewall(s) and you should be fine.

Port used by HFM Client

Can you please tell me What is the default port used by HFM "WINDOWS" client to connect to Server ?

HFM uses DCOM. The connection is initially made from the HFM client to the HFM Application server on the RPC mapper port 135. After initial connection a dynamically allocated range of ports are used, it is not a fixed range by default. If you need to fix the range you will need to do this on each HFM application server using the DCOMCNFG tool.

If you need to deal with firewalls you will need to allow traffic from the client to the server on port 135, and you will need to fix the DCOM port range.

BusinessObjects Enterprise Client Tools XI 3.1 SP3 Connection Error

Hello everybody,
I installed BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3 on the server, the server has Windows Server Enterprise 2007.
Locally, in my Laptop, I installed the BusinessObjects Enterprise Client Tools XI 3.1 SP3, but i can´t connect with the CMS using the Webi, or anyother tool to the server. I made everything that is in the administrator, installation and configuration guides, but reading the administrator guide for Query as a WebService I read that if you install the BusinessObjects Enterprise Tools you need a key license to us it, the question will be this.
Do i need a different license than the one what i use to install the BusinessObjects Enterprise on the server to install, connect and use the BusinessObjects Enterprise Client Tools XI 3.1 SP3 on every machine that i install and use for it????

You do not need separate or additional license for the Client Tools.
Most often Client tools cannot connect to server components because :
1. CMS server is not running on the server
2. There is a firewall between Client machine and the server machine and firewall specific settings were not done. (Admin guide - working with firewalls section).

SAP Visual Composer tool

Hi,
My portal team is currently developing some reports using the SAP Visual Composer tool. How do we make a BW cube or ODS available for VC to see?
They can currently see only a few of the cubes, but we don't know how those are visible to VC and not others.

i dont believe we can see cubes or ods thru VC, but only queries. if what you say is true, then its probably due to the user authorizations on BW. the userId you use in portal is normally mapped to a userId in the BW system. chck the userID that you're mapped to (in BW bckend) has the relevant authorizations to view those cubes etc.

Port used by telnet

Telnet running on a server uses port 23 by default. My query is that what is the port on the telnet client which is used for connecting to the telnet server.
I hope my question is clear as to which is the port used on the telnet client to connect to the telnet server.

Unable to Repository using the Client tools SAP BI 4.0

We have Installed business objects client tools version SAP BI 4.O on our machines and enabled the 6400 to 6420 ports
but we are unable connect to the Repository .All the input/output servers are ruuning
Error message :File Repository server input down.
Could any suggest what need to be done inoder to work with the client tools

Hi,
you need to narrow down the Ports for the IFRS and OFRS. The Services choose their ports dynamically. They dont need to be in between 6400 and 6420.
Check the "Working with Firewalls" Chapter from the BI4 Admin Guide.

BO XI3.1 Client tools connection with SAP BW

Hello everyone,
I have the following challenge:
I have an installation with Businessobjects XI 3.1 which connects to SAP netweaver BW.
When I use the client tools wich are installed on the server also, I can make a connection to Sap BW in the designer tool, and create a web intelligence rapport on this connection. When I get the rapport in Infoview, I can refresh the data, en this is showed.
When I Use the Client tool from a workstation, and test the connection, or refresh the data, is get the error message :
A database error occurred. The Database error text is: A runtime exception has occurred. (License key Check Failed. Check that you are licensed to access SAP data sources). (WIS 10901)
In Bussinesobjects I configured each server to a dedicated port, and made sure that every server can be reached for the workstation.
Somebody any suggestions for this issue? When I search on the error n=message, is get a few hintu2019s but they are not the problem, because it is running fine from the server.

You're right, I did not have the SAP intergration kit installed, at the workstation. After installing it works.
I did not know, or did found this in the installation manuals.

Change SAP BI Password from BO Client Tools / Infoview, SAP Authentication

Hi,
We are using SAP BI BO Integration Kit (BO XI 3.1, SAP BI 7.0) & able to use SAP BI Queries with WebI, Xcelsius etc.
For a user group, we would be providing only Infoview access (using SAP Authentication). This means we would not want to install any BO Client Tools, SAP GUI or SAP Integration Kit Client, on user desktop.
We are faced with a issue - How does the user change password from Infoview (this is an SAP BI User ID used to login from Infoview).
Initial Password of SAP BI User cannot be changed from Infoview, since it doesnot prompt for changing the Initial Password.
Any ideas how to handle this situation.

no. Also within BI4 you are not able to change your SAP password.

[BO 4.0 Client Tools] Problems with using Translation Manager

I have Installed SAP BO 4.0 with SP 2 on a Windows 2008 R2 Server with a MS SQL Server 2008 R2 as repository Server.
I have patched the Server with the SP4 for BO. I have installed the Client tools with the same Patchlevel (SP 4) on the same Server.
The Java - Installation is the Installation from SAP BO 4.0
Now I try to use the "Translation Management Tool"
Login with a BO - Administrator and Enterprise authentification.
Next Step ist to load an object from the repository.
This ends with an error Message: java.lang.Exception: initInstance failed. -2
And now? I have no idea.
Who can Help?

it seems, that the higher memory limit solved the problem.
I made it in some steps and now I have a memory limit with 3 Gbyte.
And with a last step I've added the last 4 parameters.
But now I have the Problem:
"This server is considered failed because it has stopped 5 time(s) in 60 minute(s)."
And the actuall status is "failed"
Where can I reset this counter.
Waiting another hour to restart doesn't help
System Reboot doesn't help.
Where can I reset this counter or this timer.

In XI 3.1 client auditing is a bit limited, you may need to do some testing to determine if it is possible to audit what you are looking for.
