Position control and organizations

Hi,
I would like to ask about the meaning of (position control) and (Top node position control enabled), which is in the path:
(Oracle project costing> Setup> Resources and organizations> HR foundation> Work structures> Organizations> Hierarchy)
And regarding the screen with the path: (Oracle project costing> Setup> Resources and organizations> HR foundation> Work structures>Organizations> Description)
Does the sysadmin enter the organization name or it is retrieved from the HR????
Thank you very much
Tasneem Ghnaimat

Hi
Position Control and Position Hierarchy have no meaning in the standard functionality and processes of Oracle Projects.
I assume Position Hierarchy may be used when customizing some of the Approval Processes Workflows.
For example a person is assigned in a position of project manager, and another person is assigned in the position of Engineering department manager. In the position hierarchy the various project managers are set up as reporting to that manager.
Now in Oracle Projects you could setup a workflow for approving a project and for approving the budgets. That workflow could send the approval request from the project manager to the higher level on thta hierarchy, to the Engineering Department Manager.

  • Stepper Motor with Linear Stage (Position Control and Data Acquisition)

    Hey All,
So.. I've attached a stepper motor to a linear stage and so far it's working pretty well.  Using a stepper motor driver from Pololu, I've simplified the control of the motor by just using output pulses from the counter output of a PXI-6143.  I've tested the motor using the Pulse Train examples in LabVIEW and all is working well.
My goal now is to allow the user to collect data from a pressure sensor, attached to the linear stage, every X number of steps.  From what I can tell so far, and please correct me if I'm wrong, the motor step movement is synchronised with the pulse train input.  That is to say, if I give the motor a 200 step pulse train, the pulse train ouput is completed at the exact time the motor has moved 200 steps.  From this, I've created a VI that moves the motor X steps, aquires the data point, and then repeats this process for the required amount of data points.  The problem with this is that the motor movement is not continuous; it stops for a split second to take the data point.
How can I have labview ouput a pulse train of say 1000 steps and record a data point every 50 steps?
Two ideas that came to mind were:
    1. Use the counter input port on the card to count the pulses being sent to the motor.
    2. Use an encoder connected to the motor shaft.
I wanted to stay away from theses ideas though since they require resources from the DAQ card.
    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi Ryan,
Just to cover all the bases, what version of LabVIEW are you using and can you attach your VI? Initially your ideas sound like they should work, do you expect to be nearly maxing out the DAQ?
    Thank you,

  • Controlling of organizational units in approp request with position id data

    Dear Experts,
I am using Investment Management for PS.
I have created Investment management program and position ids, in Position ID master data, I ahve mentioned the Co area, Company Code, Plant and Business Area.
Then creating an Appropriation request using IMA11 code, in control data tab, I mention the Investment program with position ID and Organizational data tab, I am mentioning the requesting cost center and Plant, system automatically populates the other fields in that tab.
Here I want to have a check of the plant and business area of the appropriation request with that of the Investment Program position ID.
Say the plant in position id is 1000, and plant in appropriation request is  1100, system allows to save the appropriation request.
I want to stop it. Also, can system check the budget of the position id while saving the appropriation request, currently system doesnt check the budget also, while saving the approp request.
I have searched for user exits and BADIs, but could not find out the appropriate one.
Can some one help me out in solving this issue.
    Regards
    Praveen

    Hi Ahmed,
    Thanks for your reply.
Have you ever worked with this BADI??
I have gone through the documentation of the BADI and it seems to be okay.
I need to check with my ABAPer as well.
I'll get back on this once I implement the same.

  • Position Control - HR or Finance?

It is believed that HR should manages the org structure and control the increases/decreases in positions.  Since Finance is managing the Budgets how do the increases, decreases or movement of positions monitored and reflected in the financial budgets?  Does Finance approve the changes to the number of position? or does Finance get a report to monitor the budget of positions?  If yes, which would be the best report so that Finance can get the information they need to monitor position budgets?
I just like to know how other international organizations manage their org structure and position control and the Finance department's involvement in controlling the budgets.  If available kindly send me links to documents or white papers on the subject.
    Thanks for your help.

    as you said
HR shd manage the Organisational structure
    and Finance Budgets right
The finance people can know Cost incurred for all the employees
based on the PERSONAL NUMBERs and the results will posted to fico and u will get thru Cost Center  and that is assigned to GL account
here the Personal number is assigned to the Position and cost Center is assigned to Position or Personal Number
so when u hire an employee he shd occupy certain postion and that position shd assigned to Cost Center
and Cost Center will gives the details of the Balances and Expenses Right
    >here there might be a question wht in case for Vaccant Positions as there are not used these position will not come into the PICture unless they are assigned to the person
so the control shd be with in the HR as some times the Person may move form one orgunit to another orgunit at that time
the cost center will get differs right ???  and the first person who gets intimation towards tranfer of the employees is the HR

  • Position Hierarchy Vs Organization Hierarchy

    Hi
Our organization is position driven organization. I want to know what are the main advantages and disadvantages for Position Hierarchy and Organization Hierarchy.
Because on top the hierarchies we will create security profiles.
Can I have any document where I can find the comparison between both of these hierarchies.
    Thanks
    Gaurav

No, the supervisor hierarchy is constructed simply by specifying supervisors on assignments.
Added complexity can be added to the supervisor hierarchy in a multi assignment environment; you can then specify a 'supevisory assignment' as well but that is rare.
It sounds like you will be invariable be drawn into using Positions. Having a 1-1 relationship between positions and employees is not unusual but be warned it can be extremely time consuming to maintain. I have been to organizations where position maintenance is virtually a full time job for a member of staff.
If you are using Appraisals, definitely make use of the supervisor hierarchy, it is hard enough to implement correctly as it is without making it harder and trying to use the position hierarchy.
You should be able to use the supervisor hierarchy for the OTL and iRec approval processes too but I'm happy to defer to other experts on the forum for those.

  • Position Control of compumotor linear servo table and GV-U6E with PCI-7344

    I'm referring PCI-7344 (not 7334).
I have the GV-U6E which is a drive only and does not possess control functionality. the drive only version does not store or use programs. So, serial commands can not be sent through COM port by LabVIEW even though A few basic commands can be emulated.
I am trying to do position control as I mentioned. For example, the motor should move A point to B point exactly with a certain speed. The points must be aboulte position.
I would like you to see the reference comment that I have been contacting with in your website forum.

Yes, we used an NI PXI-7344 motion control card with an NI UMI-7764 box connected to a Gemini GV-U12E servo drive. (which is a drive only.)
We did positional control in absolute position mode.
I can send you an AutoCAD schematic detailing how to connect the UMI-7764 to the Gemini GV servo drive.
In regard to the Rs232 interface to the GV servo drive,
the GV drive only model is "configurable" not "programmable". You can create unique GV configuration files with Compumotor's Motion planner then download the configuration via Rs232 using LabVIEW as desired. Or, using LabVIEW via Rs232 you can change individual GV drive parameters on demand,
or use the GV's two analog outputs back to LabVIEW's analog inputs to measure commanded motor current or torque, etc.etc.etc

Actual accounts & contacts need to be route around 2000 & 3000 but we have observed lakhs of records routing into local DB.
We have verified all the Assignment Rules, Views.
We ran docking object visibility rules and we have observed that some other accounts are routing due to Organization rule passing. (these records are not supposed to route).

let me know what would be the reason that 1st million takes only 15 minuts and the time goes on increasing gradually with the increase of dataYes that's a little strange. I only can guess:
    1. You are in archivelog mode and the Archiver is not able to archive the redo logs fast enough
    2. You don't use Direct Load and DBWR ist not able to write the direty block to disk fast enough. You could create more DBWR processes in that case.
    3. Make a snapshot of v$system_event:
create table begin as select * from v$system_event;After the import run
create table end as select * from v$system_event;Now compare the values:
select * from begin order by TIME_WAITED_MICRO descwith the values given you by
select * from end order by TIME_WAITED_MICRO descSo you can look where your DB spent so much time waiting for something.
Alternativly, you could start a 10046 trace on the loading session and use tkprof.

  • Position Budgeting and Control

    Dear Friends,
Can antyone please tell me what is he function of and purpose of node "Position Budgeting and Control".
i have searched alot about it and all I come to know about it is this that it is soe how realted with PCP and Payroll simulation but I am not getting any sense out of it .
i mean why to use it. on using it what advantages could be attained in Personnel Cost Planning and Simulation and as well as for Enterprise Compensation Management.
Currently we are implementing PCP and ECM so wanted to know if position budgeting and control woudl have any realtion with it. its importance while implementing PCP and ECM. and suppose f we dont implement this node that what we are loosing.
your help and support would be highly appreciated.

Hi, I have lots of written information about Position Budgeting and Control, one of them a nice white paper mhich may give you an understanding of the principles. We evaluated it at a customer and decided "only" to implement PCP. As I understood PBC uses PCP as a motor for collecting plan data, but you will not be able to do detail planning f.ex, as in Personnel cost planning. So as I understood it is amongst others a way of collecting HR financial data from a data basis and integrate it with Financial, a bridge between HR and FI. The commitment processor is the engine for this integration, if I've understood it correct. I can't say that I fully understood the principles either, but if you like I may provide you with some documentation. Do not know how to reach you, though. I also have a comment from a PBC-expert, maybe this will enlighten you (FYI: this is taken out of a context):
"...PBC is not intended to do detailed budgeting. PBC main feature is the possibility to create commitments / encumbrances and reserve this budget based on salary expenses.  Customers usually spend a big part of their budget in salaries, so this tool offers them the chance to monitor and control this effectively by reserving the budget they will need for a certain period of time (usually the fiscal year) and being able to monitor if there are budget deficiencies in case of salary adjustments or new hires.   PBC only uses the budget from FM to post agains it, but in no way pretends to offer a tool to manipulate this budget, plan or make decisions against the whole budget..."

  • Photoshop CS5 - Control and navigate the cursor position automatically

    Hello
I wonder if it’s possible with Photoshop CS5 (OS: Win7)  to control and navigate the cursor position automatically?
Given: I have individual image coordinates for a set of locations.
Wanted: A possibility to position the cursor sequentially at those image location by the means of an external script or procedure.
Any ideas if that is possible with CS5?
    Thanks for any help.

As far as I can tell with regard to a Photoshop Scripting approach: No.
Creating a Selection of certain dimensions and a certain position would be possible, though.
What exactly are you trying to achieve?

  • Controlling position of + and – when adding text size controls

    Dear gurus,
I am trying to sort my text size controls (+ and –) and
have managed to get them to resize but I can't get them to sit

Resize text then there is a big gap and there's the minus
(–) then the plus (+) is pushed over onto the next line. I've
tried my best but I simply don't have the knowledge to fix the
    problem.
I have attached the code, see below (it may be full of
    mistakes so, don't laugh).
Can you help and have I given you enough info?
    Thanks,
    Mark

@dkg62 – to make clear what's going on, select the text frame and show us another screenshot.
There are at least four cases where you can get a text like that. All cases imply, that the font you'd like to use is missing. I simulated this by formatting text with a font weight that is not available by a character style.
    1. The most likely case: There is baseline shift applied; here in my case 9pt.
All other cases are academical, because the pink highlighting is aligned with the text:
    2. Text frame options, baseline set to a fixed value (zero in this case)
    3. Text on path and the text frame options (baseline) is just the standard default. You can see a second #-end of story sign inside the text frame.
    4. Text on path and the text frame options (baseline) is set to fixed (zero in this case). The second #-sign inside the text frame is shifted above because of the fixed value of the baseline option of the text frame options. And obscured by the pink highlighting.

  • Position Control Budgetting

To use the Position control budgeting do we need separate HR Public Sector licensing.
    Please advice

Use the Position Transaction window to define and maintain position definitions for organizations that you have selected as position-control organizations.
In the menu "Workstructures : Positions" you can find the form "Position Transaction".
Positions of position-controlled organizations cannot be maintained in the form "Description" unter menu "Workstructures: Positions".

  • How do I handle a count overflow while running "end's" rotation drive in position control?

    Hi everyone!
We run a direct drive in position control mode and normally do oscillating movements i.e. +-10°. The Signal we get is a TTL with 120 counts/°. And with those counts we do our control.
But now we want to run the motor permanent one direction for some days (or 4 ever :-). That means that we get sooner or later a overflow on the count variable. So I think we have a problem when the setpoint is on Overflow -32767 and the Position is 32767. ( I know that I can increase the Integer Value but that does not solve it at the end :-)
    How can I handle that?
    Is there any programmatic approach?
    Thanks for Help!

    Hi Petric,
I do see the math but that does not help when I have more then one overflow, right?
Well, you have to make sure you NEVER miss such an overflow event. It would be a big problem if you would detect just every second overflow…
I got a big issue when the setpoint is jumping due to overflow! I have to handle that primarly.
Have your control loop work with arbitrary units.
Convert your measurement signal to arbitrary unit with handling overflows in this step.
Convert your control output to output signal handling overflows as well…

I'm using NI-PCI-6251 (DC Motor ) with Labview to control the position of a DC motor  we developed the program that reads the encoder and display the position of the DC motor shaft
but the problem is that the counter 0 (cnt0) always increases whether the disc rotating clockwise or anticlockwise??!! and when the desired position is reached the controller does nothing to stop the motor ?
i don't know what is the problem or why its happening.

    Hi,
I am also doing something similar.
The problem is the motor is the DC motor from Quanser. (DCMCT).
I know the encoder channel of the motor is ctr0 and when I test from "Measurement and Automation Explorer" (Labview>>Tools) I can only read the PFI8 channel.
The motor read 4096 pulses per revolution and no reading is available from PFI10. As per Quanser the motor should be about to do position control. I have seen lab tutorials for position control in internet.
I tested both the vi is mentioned above. The "Example" vi reads the motor position in terms of pulses. But when I rotate the motor in the other direction the count increment not decrement.
Also the quadratureencoderMseries vi did not read the angle position when I set the channel values.
I have attached the parameters that I set.
    Can any one please check..
    Thanks.
