Position to first field in a form WITHOUT JAVASCRIPT

DOes anyone know how to position to a field in a form without using javascript OR is there code that can be used in JSP to tell whether the browser is javascript enabled and within that block, use javascript to position to the field.

Unfortunately, the only way I know how to do it is using JavaScript and the onLoad event. You can determine if a browser is JavaScript compatible simpley by looking in the request header for the type and version of the browser, and you know which browsers support javascript. But you'll need to use javascript to figure out if they actually have javascript turned on.

  • Addition of fields in Adobe forms using JavaScript or FormCalc

    Hi All,
    I have a few amount fields in my Adobe form. I want to calculate their sum and show it in another textfield. Any ideas how this is done using JavaScript or FormCalc.???
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sameer

    Hi Sameer,
    you cant use JavaScript here in Web Dynpro. But if you want to calculate the sum through a button click that can be done through the Action Handler method.
    Suppose you have 2 fields to add whichare field1 and filed2 in the context tree and the sum will be shown in field3 of context tree - all of numeric data type - obviously. So you can do the following in the action handler method.
    int sum = wdContext.currentContextElement().getField1() +
              wdContext.currentContextElement().getField2();
    wdContext.currentContextElement().setFields3(sum);

  • Managing Blank Fields in Search Form

    I am trying to create an advanced search form to filter a recordset of events, so that I can search through these events based on parameters such as category, time, date, place, etc. Right now, because I'm new at this, I have been trying to create a filter with only two parameters, category and price. 'Category' is the first field in the form and 'price' is the second field in the form, followed by fields for time and location. When I search by category, the search works fine. When I search by category and price, only the category parameter works, and it doesn't filter by price. When I search only by price, the recordset comes up as blank. Does this have something to do with fields in the form being left empty or do empty fields have no effect on the search. When I test my query statement on my SQL query browser, it works fine, so I don't think that's the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

    Not an ADDT-specific question so I never responded. However the OP re-posted here in the Dreamweaver Application Development forum which produced a very interesting thread.

  • Populating parts of form based on Value entered in the first field

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a form, where user will enter the serial number of his equipment and I want him to click a verify button next to it.Upon clicking the verify button I want the Item Description field of the form to be updated ( this info is pulled from a backend MySql DB).Also, the text fields corresponding to the Equipment Site to be populated.After checking all the info, user should be able to click a submit button at the end of form and this information should be written to another table.I attached a Insert record server behaviour to form.Essentially, I want to attach a different action to both buttons on the form.In my view this is same a when we fill those registration form and based on our country, our state drop down gets populated.It seems this is doable, but I am not able to figure out how.I would really appreciate any help
    Thanks

    This is very simple if you understand PHP code. Basically, you give the two buttons different names, and use PHP conditional logic to control what happens. Call one button "verify" and the other "insert". If you use the POST method, you control the script like this:
    if (array_key_exists('verify', $_POST) {
      // create a recordset to retrieve the details ready for display
    } elseif (array_key_exists('insert', $_POST) {
      // insert the details in the the new table
    If you're not comfortable coding PHP yourself, the easy way to do it with Dreamweaver server behaviors is to use separate pages. In the first page, just create a form for the user to enter the serial number. Use the GET method to send the serial number to a separate page. In the new page, use the URL parameter containing the serial number to create a recordset to populate the insert form. Then apply an Insert Record server behavior using the POST method to insert the details into a new table.

  • How to save PDF form without empty fields ?

    Hello,
    I try to find how to save PDF forms after a school registration but without empty fields because i have lots of relation in my Form but i haven't.
    Is it possible and how ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Are you downloading responses as PDF forms after forms are submitted? If so, FormsCentral doesn't provide an option to exclude empty fields and you won't be able to save PDF forms without empty fields.
    You can use this form to "vote" on popular feature requests, or to add a new one of your own:

  • Changing Tab order in a completed form without altering or moving fields here and there

    Hi All,
    I've made a complex questionairre and is almost complete. Now the problem is that when I converted this file from Word, many fields were automatically detected and their tab order/ numbering was set by Acrobat itself. The remaining fields in the form (at different places) were created by myself. Now in the tab ordering, the fields automatically detected have priority and the fields I created, are much different from the corresponding fields in tab numbering. For your understanding, I'm including the screenshot too. Please see the tab numbering in the image and after field # 7, there is field # 28, then field # 26, and then field # 29 which is not the way it should be.
    Please advise any solution (if there is any) on your earliest convenience.
    Thanks in anticipation!

    Have you opened the "Pages" navigation panel and looked at the options for the page?
    There should be a series of options like "Row", "Column" or "Unspecified". Select the "Row" and see if the form tabs the way you would like.

  • How to print Adobe Forms without the black/gray backgrounds in the side columns

    How can we print Adobe Forms without the black/gray backgrounds in the side columns? We are wasting a lot of ink printing out these forms and would like to have simply black ilnes to distinguish columns and black lettering, but no background colors.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    I am not positive what you are printing from but I am thinking it is from the View Responses tab with a response row selected and then shown in "Detail View" and that the column of field names has a dark grey background...
    To change the color of the column headers select the row of headers (do this by clicking on the first dark grey header field and then scroll to the last one and shift+click on the last one), then in the "Text" tools change the text color to Black and the Fill color to white:
    (Selected the header cells)
    Changed the text/font color to black and the fill color to white
    Now you can see the detail view does not have the dark grey.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • How can I promote a field in my form to a SharePoint 2010 list column and have it populated?

    Hello,
       I have created a form using some jquery, html and <td> tags. I would like to promote the fields that I am having users fill out in the form so that they appear in the list that the submitted form is writing to. Below is the code that I
    have written, with some help of a great tool (Forms 7), is there another tag or class that I can input in order for the field names to appear in the list? I'm trying to also create a workflow and without these fields being columns I'm at a loss. Please help

    Hi,
    If you want to add fields to a list, as you have written your form in JavaScript, you can take consideration of using JavaScript Client Object Model to add/delete fields dynamically.

  • Adding new field in PE51 Form

    hi experts,
    I want to print a new field in PE51 Form.
    i added a new line in the form.
    but when i selected the single field radiobutton and in change mode double click at the position where i wanted to print a new value it is giving error ie dialog box -
    No data has been set up at this fixed position.
    so are ther any attributes to set for the new line added for data to be printed?
    Please reply me how to do this as soon as possible.
    Thanks & regds,

    Dear Imran,
    Double click will work only after assigning the source value for the field instead first you should create the value to fetch the data for the field.
    Good Luck.

  • Access 2013: Sum fields on a form suddenly showing up blank

    I have a simple Access database (originally built in 2010, now running 2013). Sometime in the last week or so all of the SUM fields in the database started showing up BLANK (one minute everything was working fine, the next it wasn't, not sure what happened
    in between). Even when I create a new, basic form, I can't seem to get my SUM fields working.
    For example, I have a table where I document number of miles traveled for work purposes, the fields include: TravelDate, ProjectID, Mileage, and Description. Mileage is a Number field, Long Integer. If I create a continuous form, connect it to the table
    (same thing happens if I connect to a query), add a field in the Detail section with
    Mileage as control source and txtMileage as name and a field in the FORM FOOTER that is: =Sum([txtMileage])...the SUM field is empty in
    Form View. And, there are no NULL values in the data set. This is happening across all of my forms and subforms, all SUM fields are now displaying as blank.
    Is it possible that I changed a global Access setting to cause this? A form setting? Any other ideas?
    Thanks!
    Laura

    I had the same sudden issue. But I was able to determine that it involved only one workstation. All the others were fine, as well as a test run on another Win 8 station outside the environment. From there I was able to determine that  a third party
    app had been installed near the time of the problem showing up. I uninstalled it and it immediately was resolved. The app was a C# based tool thought the authors have yet to identify why this caused a problem. My suspicion is that they wrote a 32 bit version
    and this was installed on a 64 bit station, and there is some issue with mso.dll, where I believe the function calls exist for sum. I am testing to see if there are similar function errors in Excel.
    What is noticeable was that Access did not throw a an Error# nor a #name. Just nothing appeared, and when you click on a row, the sum would appear, though it was incorrect.
    In Access 2010 I remember there were some footer field issues in continuous which eventually were patched.
    It was an opportunity to remind my client - do not install anything from any one on the live system without prior testing.

  • Enable/disable fields in Workspace form

    Okay here is my scenario. I need to disable some fields on a form depending on which user logs onto workspace to open the same form.
    1. User1 logs onto workspace and opens leave request form, fields at the top of the form are enabled for the user to fill out, bottom fields which are for leave request administrator to fill out are disabled but visible.
    2. User1 fills out top portion of leave request form and completes form. Workflow sends form to leave request administrators "To do" list in Workspace.
    3. Administrator opens up submitted form in Workspace and sees User1's filled out data on the form and the bottom fields are now enabled for administrator to approve or dissaprove. Bottom fields only include two check boxes, two text fields and one date field.
    Now how is this done? I am sure their maybe scripting involved? if so what is it and at what events in the form? Is this whole process done in the form or through Admin UI or Workebench as well? Please help!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Rahat,
    You can use the same form and enable/disable some fields according to the user's role with only little scripting. Review the steps the below:
    1-First place a hidden field ("user_role") in your form
    2-Insert a script object into your form onder "Variables" in object hierarchy and write a script for enabling/disabling the fields (regarding the value of "user_role")
    3-On the initialize and change events of the "user_role" call your script object
    4-On your process design, put a SetValue service before User tasks. In the asssignment you should set the desired user_role to the form, so that the script is triggered in your form and the fields are enabled/desiabled

    Hi Mike,
    CRSE is an OEM Product and for use with a custom application they have written. Unfortunately we don't their reports or how they are connecting, it would appear they were originally built off a SQL and then set to a Dataset in the app or they could be adding the data source at runtime. Lots of variations and without access to the source code to see what they are doing not much we can help you with.
    You need to contact the OEM Partner for help in resolving this and find out what you can and need to do to update your SP and work with their canned reports,
    Thank you

  • Is there a way to delete one of several checkboxes from a pdf form without the leftover checkboxes automatically renumbering themselves?

    Is there a way to delete one of several checkboxes from a pdf form without the leftover checkboxes automatically renumbering themselves?
    I used LiveCycle Designer to make a pdf form with many checkboxes. When I deleted a few of the checkboxes the rest left on the form renumbered themselves. This made my JavaScript out of sync since the JavaScript checkbox numbers did NOT update automatically. I am hoping there is a preference option to not auto update. I just cannot find it,

    I believe you're using the same name for each checkbox, right?!
    If so, each checkbox has an index number which represents its position relative to the other copies in the XML tree and when you add, delete or reorder the copies the index will always be recreated because thats the way how XML works.
    There is no way to stop Designer from doing this, I'm afraid.
    To address individual objects through JavaScript you should use unique names.

    Hi,
    Write the following script at the exit event of your text field.
    if ( $.rawValue == null )
    then
    $host.messageBox("Please Enter Value")
    $host.setFocus("TextField1");
    endif
    Here TextField1 is the name of the text field.
