Possible deadlock not detected?

Hello,
I am attempting to debug a database condition that has arisen in a test system. I believe a deadlock has occurred but I have enabled deadlock detection and also tried manually running db_deadlock.
I have three processes accessing an environment and they have a number of transactions:
Active transactions:
        80007c4d: running; pid/thread 31923/3076310752; begin LSN: file/offset 1232/4328339
        80007c5c: running; pid/thread 31924/3076269792; begin LSN: file/offset 1232/4326589
        80007c60: running; pid/thread 31924/3076269792; begin LSN: file/offset 0/0; parent: 80007c5c
        80007c61: running; pid/thread 31923/3076310752; begin LSN: file/offset 0/0; parent: 80007c4d
        80007c62: running; pid/thread 31923/3076310752; begin LSN: file/offset 0/0
80018cc6: running; pid/thread 12622/2445568912; begin LSN: file/offset 0/0The two processes that appear to be deadlocked are 31923 and 31924.
One is inserting a document into a container, the other is trying to open the same container.
Here are lock waits:
80007c60 READ          1 WAIT    9040887.dbxml             page          0
80007c62 WRITE         1 WAIT    9040887.dbxml             page          5and here are other locks on those pages:
80007c4d WRITE         4 HELD    9040887.dbxml             page          0
80007c5c READ          1 HELD    9040887.dbxml             page          5
80007c62 READ          1 HELD    9040887.dbxml             page          5At first I believed that this should be detected because even though the deadlock involves three transactions the transactions that are waiting for each other are in different processes. But on reading another post on here, I'd like confirmation that this will not be detected because the deadlock detection assumes that different transactions are in different threads and will proceed.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

What release are you using?
It is possible you are seeing the same problem as reported in
using 2 PHP processes blocks both processes
The problem occurs when there is a lock conflict between an existing writer and another process or thread opening the same container.
If you send email to george dot feinberg at you-know-where I can send you the patch. Lauren also posted her email in the thread referred to above.
Regards,
George

  • [Potentially Solved] Touchpad sometimes not detected possible IRQ.

    Edit:
Potentially solved: since adding the below entries to my bootloader I have not encountered the issue, or it may be just a coincidence.
append to the boot line: i8042.nomux=1 i8042.reset
I've been experiencing an issue for the last few years which has bugged me across two different brands of laptop, but has been very hard to debug due to how random the event seems to occur.
One in every 20 or so boots, the touchpad on my laptop (Lenovo Z500) is not detected; not just by X, but by the system as a whole, it's as if it has been physically disconnected somehow.
It will take a few good reboots for the system to detect it again, and the problem disappears for another few days/weeks
One strange thing I have noticed, is that when looking at the listing of interrupts during a 'failed touchpad boot', IRQ 12, which I believe is normally the touchpad, has vanished.
I'm not very clued up on these matters so I'm not sure how to start debugging this, and working out if the issue is down to my setup of the system or not.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?
    Thanks.

    Hi gav989,
welcome to the forums. Please have a look at our forum etiquette, esp. at the "Pasting Pictures and Code" section.
The image you posted is too big, but only slightly, so I leave it there for now. You may want to look at these screenshot posting rules as well.

  • Dv5 / dv6 / dv7 webcam not detected - one (possible) solution

There are SO many posts on webcams - here is something for those of you who no longer have warranties and need help.
    Background:
I just purchased a new dv7 - no webcam detected!  I tried everything I could think of and ended up sending the system in for service last week.  Tech hinted that the connection may be loose (not the end at the mother board, the other end, next to the camera).  Sad, that.  I am still pawing through the posts looking to see if I'd missed anything that I could have tried.
Found this post all the way back from February 2011 from NotBuggy - Read on: this solution might work for you:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/Windows-7-64-bit-Webcam-Drivers-for-dv5t-1000/td-p/46...
NotBuggy's first post descibes the initial issue.  At the bottom of that post is the "Solution" link.  For those interested, there may be helpful hints from other members in the answers NotBuggy received.
As NotBuggy says, this is not for the "faint of heart" - you will need to take apart your system and risk damage.  Proceed only if other avenues are closed.
    Good Luck!
    Kind Regards,
    Dragon-Fur

webcam not detected  I have reinstalled the driver for the webcam but the issue persists with an error saying "No Webcam Detected". I have been to the device manager and the webcam is not listed there .I would like to know
how to get this fixed please. Thank you very much.

  • Possible deadlock: transactions, cursors, and sequences...

    Hello,
After making recent changes to our database in response to a previous issue (bug found and patched in BDB; local code fixed by removing both DB_TXN_SNAPSHOT and DB_MULTIVERSION) we've come across a possible deadlock.
    BACKGROUND:
This database has been running for over a year in production and I've never seen a hard deadlock. We use the default deadlock detection engine internal to BDB, transactions, and our code supports the processing of deadlocks and subsequent retries and final abandonment when necessary. The transactions in question involve cursors and sequences; we're using cursors to flip through entries in an existing database, and should no match be found for an update, we insert a new record. Before doing so, we grab the "next ID" (primary key) from a sequence we have (attached, as all sequences are, to its own different DB, done on advice from online docs: "For this reason, it is often preferable for sequence objects to be stored in their own database.") and finally insert the new record.
This is a 64-bit Linux machine. There were 4 operational threads at the time; all were waiting on pthread conditions. As I understand it, deadlocks should have been internally detected and returning DB_LOCK_DEADLOCK to us somewhere? Since we're using the default lock detection engine and firing it constantly, we should not require an Nth thread to monitor the lock tables and manually reject deadlocked transactions, etc?
I wasn't sure what to do when the deadlock occured, but I found some forum posts referencing a db_stat -Co and ran it, along with grabbing a core dump which I still have available. I've reverted the DB binary to older DB_MULTIVERSION code as I work on figuring this out, but if there's something else crucial I should have done, I can run the new code again and wait for another deadlock to happen to run additional diagnostics.
Any ideas or assistance is appreciated. Thank you.

What else could be causing this in terms of the application having a resource locked? I can say that there are no other running threads doing anything related to BDB at all - they are all in similar "no work, sleep until we get some" calls, with the exception being the main thread which is sitting in sigwait(). What types of things could the application be doing that would prevent all 4 BDB threads from being able to obtain mutexes that are internal to them and not accessible to the application?
    Other thoughts:
    * On a fifth thread, from time to time, txn_checkpoint() is called. Could this have been left in an unclean state?
    * If DB_RMW is used incorrectly, could lock order be compromised? We are not using CDS, so do we need to specify DB_WRITECURSOR to our db->cursor() calls? We do not; we only provide DB_RMW to pget() calls at present.
    * Why is the thread attempting to call sequence->get also deadlocked? The sequence is in its own database - is it waiting on a more global "locker manager" mutex at a high level?
As I don't see how anything we do can directly control BDB's locking strategies, my only thought is that we're making a programming error to force BDB to lock things in an incorrect order in a way that prevents deadlock detection from occuring. Is this possible? Mainly the only thing changing here was our replacing DB_TXN_SNAPSHOT with the appropriate DB_RMW flags when needed, which is why I'm thinking we did something wrong here, but I'm not sure what.
I'll continue investigation, but any ideas you have in terms of appropriate directions would be helpful. I'll also work on reproducing this if I can by working backwards from the stack information. Thanks.
Later thought: Why is 808cfad3 not waiting on anything even though stack clearly shows it (thread 5, I'm guessing) in pthread_cond_wait? Can a transaction enter a wait state without showing up in db_stat output?
    Thanks!

  • DVD-Audio and "can not detect sound blaster card" with Audigy2 Va

I recently purchased an "Audigy2 Value" card from an eBay user, because I recently purchased some DVD-Audio discs. I downloaded the Audigy2 drivers from the website, and the Creative MediaSource player. 5. Surround sound worked fine for me, though sometimes the driver would reset to the default 2/2. sound and I would have to re-select 5. sound, which was annoying.
Then I was completely unable to get the MediaSource player to recognise my DVD-Audio discs, and the EAX functionality of the player would never work. The EAX logo never appeared in the player. When I tried installing the MediaSource player from an install disc, I got the message "can not detect sound blaster card". Then I discovered the world of EEPROM problems.
I followed advice from some other threads, including using ScanPCI to get information on the card, which yielded the following result.
When installed on my machine (Asus A7A266 motherboard) the ScanPCI reads:

On another machine (specs unknown, it's a "house pc") I got this (with 3 entries!):

(Just a note: above you can clearly see that it does not say I have an Audigy, it thinks it is a SBLi've. Is this normal? The card IS an Audigy 2, it says so on the card.)
So, I put the card back on my own PC, thinking this has fixed my EEPROM, but I get the same as before. Subsystem ID 0002h. And of course the install software will not detect the card.
I realise that I could go back to using the web drivers, but this still leaves me with MediaSource not recognising the card and not enabling DVD-Audio or EAX, which is why I bought the card in the first place!
I have heard that the VIA chipset is possibly to blame for the EEPROM problems on the Audigy cards, and certainly it seems like it is not permanent, since it gave different information on the other PC. So now I am seriously considering getting a new motherboard.
Do other motherboards cause this same problem? I don't want to buy another board and get the same trouble. All I want is to be able to install my MediaSource and have it recognise my card so I can listen to my DVD-Audio discs.
    Cheers,
    Russ.

Figured out my problem. Installing the drivers from the web to begin with was a bad idea. They just did not work properly with the card.
The "card not found" problem has gone as well, after installing it in another PC. I am also using the proper install disc now, as the other one I was using turned out to not be for the Audigy 2 value after all, but was an Audigy 2 install disc. That easily explains the "Card not found" error. The differing results from the ScanPCI program are still bizarre, though.
Thanks to all of the people on the forum who posted information in other threads to help me deal with this issue. For now I am sticking with the original drivers from the disc and I am not upgrading.

  • Adobe creative cloud desktop is not detecting my internet connection?

adobe creative cloud desktop is not detecting my internet connection?

i connected with the adobe people through 'contact an agent'.
very helpful, they remote managed my desktop to fix the issue.
apparently something to do with permissions not activated for adobe, not sure how and why this happens though, or why it was fine earlier and suddenly stoppped.
they insisted it was to do with being on a wifi connection but that's not possible because i have my laptop right next to my desktop and that was working fine.
it took about four hours to fix though, so be patient!

    Hello @PARTHA_BISWAS ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the computer is not detecting the webcam. I will do my best to assist you, but first I require the following information:
    1. The computer's model number. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website: Guide to finding your notebook product number
    2. The computer's operating system. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website to determine your Windows operating system.
    3. Does this occur on certain programs, or all programs?
    4. Have you installed any new software or drivers on this computer, before the issue appeared?
    5. Have you tried another webcam to see if one does work?
Additionally, if the issue just began occurring, I would perform a system restore. I want you to bring the computer back to the earliest restore point possible, in an attempt to dodge whatever caused the issue. Here is a document on how to perform a System Restore: System Restore

  • Macbook Pro(Mid-2014) Not Detecting External Monitor

Hi everyone, I'm trying to connect my MBP to an external monitor via HDMI. Since my MBP has an HDMI port built in, I'm not using any adapters between it and the monitor. But nothing is happening when I connect the HDMI cable, my MBP does not seem to detect it. I have tested my monitor with that HDMI cable on a desktop PC, and it all works without any issues there, so I reckon it must be something on the MBP end of the connection. But what could it possibly be? I have looked through forums and read countless threads about external display problems, but have not found any info that could identify the problem. I have tried booting my MBP and/or turning on my monitor before and after connecting the HDMI cable, and there was never even a hint of detection.
I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1, and the external monitor in question is an HP Pavilion 27Xi in 1080p.

I have a problem connecting external display (Dell U2311H) to my 13" MacBook Pro (Early 2011).
I use Tecklink Mini DasplayPort to HDMI adapter (http://www.techlink.uk.com/products/wires_cables/wiresmedia/wiresmedia_media/wir esmedia_mini_displayport_plug_to_hdmi_plug), but since U2311H doesn't have HDMI input, I also use Manhattan DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (http://www.manhattan-products.com/en-US/products/8101-displayport-adapter).
    And nothing.
The display is not detected, no picture or even external monitor presence at all.
I even reset PRAM, and installed 10.8.2 Supplementary update.
I also plugged and unplugged all I could, with no luck.
As I can see on Apple discussion, it is a common problem with 2011 MacBook Pro's.
It seems like the problem is in Thundebolt port, it somehow does not work properly.

  • ITunes WILL NOT detect my iPhone 4 - Tried everything I can think of!

    Hi everyone
I am in desperate need of some help.
I plugged my iPhone into my PC today and iTunes wouldn't detect it, no matter what I tried. All iTunes would do was freeze for 5 or so minutes and then return the error "iTunes cannot read the contents of this iPhone, please restore etc."
I have come across this error before but have gotten around it by restarting iTunes or unplugging and replugging in the iPhone. This time I couldn't get past the error.
So eventually I became frustrated with the fact and decided to restore my iPhone. BIG mistake as once it had restored it needed reactivation and iTunes still would not detect it no matter what I tried.
So I took it to my brothers PC, had him install iTunes (the same version as me, the latest 64bit version) and it had no problem detecting and reactivating the iPhone.
Then the problem became that I had my iPhone activated but my own iTunes would still not detect it so I've lost all my contacts/apps etc. without the possibility of restoring from the last backup.
So my iPhone, in it's current state is if it was just activated, completely empty otherwise.
Oddly enough, Windows has no issue detecting the iPhone with autorun popping up asking me to import photos etc. every time so this leads me to believe there's an underlying issue with iTunes which is weird as I have not changed my iTunes at all in the past week and had no issues syncing etc. a few days ago.
    THINGS I'VE TRIED:
    - Reinstalling iTunes (numerous times)
    - Using different versions of iTunes
    - The various different fixes found via Google
    - 6 different USB ports
    - 4 different USB cables
    THINGS I FOUND WEIRD:
    - Girlfriends 3GS doesn't get detected in iTunes either but Windows has no issue
    - The fact it detected on another PC
Win7 Pro x64 and my rig is pretty high spec so I can't see there being an issue there.
Let me know if there's anything you need to know.
    All suggestions welcome and appreciated.

I've had this issue before as well. I think it has to do with 64bit Win 7. Most times I would connect my iPhone to it, it would automatically load iTunes, but it would just freeze and do nothing. I've since reinstalled my OS to 32bit and don't seem to have as many problems.
You can try this... seemed to get it connected for me when I had issues. Not sure if this is how you attempted to fix it before, so I'll say it just in case.
Plug iPhone in and let it load iTunes. When it freezes...
Unplug phone, close iTunes. Open windows Services panel, and do the following in this order:
    Stop the "iPod Service"
Stop the "Apple Mobile Device" service
Wait a few seconds, then Start the "Apple Mobile Device" service. Leave the other service stopped.
Plug in the iPhone. Hopefully works after this.

  • Ipod mini 2nd gen 1 gb: not detected by laptop (win 7 64 bit), if detected: error during autofill and cannot be restored, please help :D

My laptop does not detect my ipod mini (2nd gen 1 gb), when i connect it the orange light flashe 2 or 3 times then nothing happens. if ever that it will be detected by my laptop and when i sync music on it there will be an error and itunes will suggest to restore it to its factory setting and if i choose to restore it error 3194 happens. so my top priority of course is for it to be detected then fix the latter. please help any will be much appreciated

This is an Answer for a Possible Solution. It worked for me and is still working. The issue I was having with my 64 bit vista, was Apple Mobile Device Service was not being installed, I dont know why. But I disabled any active running program through MSCONFIG, to allow a clean uninterrupted install of ITUNES 8.02. This allowed AMDS and drives from ITUNES to install. Hope this works for most of you.
APPLE, please review your Support Methods. Re-installing doesnt help an issue that resulted from installing.

  • 5th generation ipod not detected by my windows xp.  works fine on other pc.  performed necessary steps to remove and reinstall itunes but having same issue. is there a driver i can download to pc then direct to that specific location when installing?

I have a similar issue - my iPod nano connects and is visible in Device Manager yet invisible in My Computer and iTunes. I've tried everything I can possibly think of to try and solve this myself, all in vain.
Mine is a nano 4G. I've been using it for quite some time without the slightest problem. I have been using WINAMP instead of iTunes to manage my darling nano.
Then, one fine day I bought a new computer and the nano would not show up in My Computer, though the nano display shows "Do not disconnect". On my old computer it worked (and still works) absolutely fine with win XP as well as with win7 (the later I currently use on my new/problematic computer, which I bought last summer and that's how long I've had this problem).
Of course, after several first attempts I gave up and installed iTunes. I've tried using the Apple support article "iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows":
    - reset
    - fully charged,
    - cable works fine on two other computers
    - in normal or disk mode makes no difference
    - tried to find anything useful in the diagnostics mode
    - reinstalled iTunes several different times since then to the latest version
    - I've unplugged every other USB device except for my mouse and keyboard and tried several different USB ports on my motherboard (USB 3.0 and conventional), as well as trying different USB- related options in my BIOS.
    - I've never used any Mac with this ipod
    - I've tried fiddling with the win7 Services by stopping and restarting them and of course
    - uninstalling the iPod drivers in Device Manager. After such an uninstall the ipod would automatically be recognised and "ready for use", i.e. being invisible in My Computer.
    - Attempted to find any possible third-party conflict with msconfig or the possibility that my ipod is being confused for a network drive (for which I've disconnected my HDD, leaving only my SSD with the OS).
Sometimes, iTunes would note that iPod service (or something, can't remember exactly) failed to install properly and asked to try and repair it. I would click YES! and voila - no change! The ipod would rarely show up in iTunes on my problematic computer like this:
iTunes would warn me that the nano would need restoring so I would try and do it on my haunted machine upon which iTunes would freeze like you seen in the picture.
Despite this, I've updated and restored the nano on my father's computer to the latest version without any problems. This though, did not solve my problem in any way.
I can load music to my nano through my old computer (which for me is a real pain and hassle) and the gadget works normally in terms of its disconnected functionality.
I've taken my nano to the local service for repair and they said it was fine. Mercifully, they didn't charge for the diagnostics service (gee, thanks for not ripping me off!).
Here are two screengrabs from my Device Manager
and Devices and Printers screens on my comp:
That is my sad story as far as I can remember. It's most likely something with the drivers or something along those lines though I'm out of ideas at this point.
If you think you have any idea PLEASR HELP, I'M DESPERATE!

  • JMF-based applet can not detect audio devices on Vista (?)

    Hi,
As many people reported, I encountered the same issue - CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList does not detect any audio device on IE/Vista.
    Here is my testing environment:
HP XW4600, RealTek HD Audio onboard sound card,
Vista SP1 (Business, Home Premium, and Vista64)
    JRE1.5.0_16, JMF2.1.1e
A recording Applet runs in IE7 (which works fine on XP and its Java application version always works fine on Vista)
I have tried a number of things without success:
1)Use different audio formats as the input parameter for getDeviceList
    2)Try CaptureDeviceManager.getDevice(new String("DirectSoundCapture"))
    3)CaptureDeviceInfo info = new CaptureDeviceInfo(com.sun.media.protocol.dsound.DataSource.NAME,new MediaLocator("dsound://"),null);
    4) Vector devices = (Vector) CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList(null).clone();
    5)Uncheck UAC(Vista User Access Control)
    6)Set IE settings least restrictive
7)Try signed or unsigned recording Applet
8)Pack the recording Applet to a jar and deploy to JRE\lib\ext
9)Run JMFInit and copy the files in JMF\Lib to System32 folder
On a few occasions, audio devices can be detected. For examples,
10)Upgrading an HP XW4200 (XP machine with AC97 codecs driver) to Vista,
11)1/5 chance on the machines with both Sun JRE and MS Java SDK installed.
12)Trying Item # 9. it worked once on one machine, but after rebuilding the machine, the same trick does not play.
I am wondering if there is a way to let JMF-based applets detect audio devices on Vista or this is an inherent problem with JMF, IE and Vista.
I would appreciate it very much if youd kindly offer any help and suggestions.

I would appreciate it very much if you'd kindly offer any help and suggestions. >I suspect the basic problem here, is the installer that defaults to preventing the applet access to record sound (I am guessing that would 'spill over' into web-cam permissions). A quick test of that is to try the same code as an application.
If the application works, one possible fix is to launch the application using webstart. Webstart will work from a web page, and offers many other advantages over a standard applet.

  • Hard-Drive not Detected load sata drivers

Hi everyone I have a G6-1189sa notebook, I had a faulty harddrive so replaced it with the exact same drive 750GB WD, Thing is I could not save anything from the original drive ? so no recovery partitions are anything I even lost all my family photos and software.
Ok so I done a straight swap over and went ahead installing my fresh Windows 7 x64 disk, then I got an error message saying no device detected please install driver etc etc.
I know I need to install the sata driver for the harddrive to be detected, so I extracted the HP sata control driver to a USB pen the tried to load the driver, with the load driver option on the install disk.
Error message saying driver is not signed !!!!   So after some reading on google I learned I had to disable the naitive sata option in the bios settings for the harddrive to be detected.
Thing is there is not a option for this in my bios ?  unless Im missing something like an advanced bios setting.
I even went to the Intel site and tried some of there drivers but I get the same error message driver not signed.
So my question is ? how can I disable the native sata option if Its possible , If not how can I load the HP sata driver if its not signed.
Its very anyoing someone even said I have to slip the drivers in and make a new home made W7 disk myself to get my pc working again what the hell, where would I start.
Maybe I should put the laptop in the post and send it back, Ive never had so much trouble before making simple memory and harddrive exchanges.
Any advice please people Im at my wits end, my laptop is only a few month old and its now a door stopper lol

    Hi,
Boot into the bios and be sure that the hard drive is detected.
Sata drivers are included in Windows 7.
Return the bios to its default settings and use the HP Recovery Disks.  If you don't have the Recovery Disks then order them from HP. Order HP recovery Disks.

(my probable guess is hardware malfunctioned?) If the hdd is no longer detected in the bios then the possibility is that you have a crashed hdd and therefore need to replace it. Just to be sure, go to bios and set everything to default. Save and exit. See if you can now see the hdd in the bios.
