Possible deployment options for AccAD

Hi,
We have tested AccAD 2.2 SP1 and very happy with the results and so now wish to proceed to deployment. Our concern is the CFE going down. By default the end user will get page not found on a given service but obviously we would want some sort of re-direction to the portal server directly if AccAD was not available. As we have no Global proxy or even a global proxy server standard then we would need to touch all 32000 workstations and alter their proxy if wer are using this method as per AccAD guide. To add to this we desire to have Regions and a region would use one dedicated CFE.
We could use DNS to point to the AccAD CFE for a given url, ie, http://test would go to AccAD instead of directly to the Portal. However from my understanding if the CFE is down then DNS can not then re-route to another IP. Please correct me if I am wrong. We can not also send all DNS traffic to the AccAD CFE either as the business will not allow this.
In short the methods mentioned in install guides are not able to be deployed in our environment. Are current thinking is to have a reverse proxy that takes dns resolves to http://test and then the reverse proxy checks for AccAD being up and then basedo n the result re-directs to either AccAD CFE or directly to the Portal. But I am posting this to get any other ideas you may have.
I look forward to your replies and sorry for such a long post.
Regards
Brian Lane

Hi Brian,
We beleive that you have already resolved this issue - but for others who may be encountering this same issue our recommendation is as follows:
We recommend that you have a primary and secondary DNS in which the primary DNS is the AccAD CFE and the secondary DNS is actually the DNS Server that will point directly to the application server.  In a case in which the CFE is down for any reason than the secondary DNS will be prompted.
Another possible solution (which is expected to be relevant from AccAD 2.2 SP2) is to update the PAC file and indicate there, where to turn to in case of CFE failure.
All the Best,
Smadar

  • Adf mobile deployment option for blackberry/windows-mobile is disabled

    Hi,
We are trying to deploy the sample FOD mobile app to blackberry simulator as per the tutorial given at:.
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/jdev/obe11jdev/ps3/adf_mobile_top/adf_mobile/jdtut_11r2_54_1.html
We had followed all the steps given till Part 2 and were able to deploy the app to the BB simulator and test it also.
After that, we followed the steps given in Part 3 and now when trying to deploy the mobile client app to the simulator, the deployment profile option for BB is disabled and hence we are not able to deploy the application.
We have Jdev 11.1.1.4.0 with mobile client extension installed, and have also installed the BB JDE and simulator.
Can someone please help us to get the deployment to BB profile option enabled again?
PS: We also tried installing Jdev 11.1.1.4.0 with mobile adf extension on another machine with BB JDE and BB 9700 simulator, but on this new machine, the deployment profile option is disabled right from the start, we are not even able to deploy the changes we have done for part 2 of the tutorial.
    Regards,
    Hemant

Hi, Hemant, just to make sure, did you try to kick off deployment from the MobileClient project, or at the Application menu? Mobile Client app needs to be deployed from the application menu.
Also, if you have deployed already, the deployment profile has been created, so you simply would need to deploy again from the application menu.
If you are seeing these items are somehow disabled, then I don't think I have seen it before. Perhaps we can set up a web conference to look at it.
    Please just ping me directly.
    Thanks,

  • Alternative deployment option for custom xpath- 10.1.2

    Hi,
    BPEL ver: 10.1.2
What is the best way to deploy custom xpath classes?
Here is the list of location that I know that it works
    1. Copy extracted classes files in %BPEL_HOME%/integration/orabpel/system/classes with package hierarchy
    2. Copy jar file in %BPEL_HOME%/integration/jdev/j2ee/home/applib
Somone said in the forum, approach 2 does not work any more in 10.1.3. But our sysadmin team does not like the approach 1 at all because it is in system area.
Is there an alternative to these deployment that can also work in 10.1.2?
    Thanks for your help,

The demo is not available through OTN. It ships with jheadstart 10.1.2.2 which is only available for licensed Jheadstart users.

  • Connect 9 Managed Services Deployment Option

I have some questions about the managed services deployment option for Adobe Connect 9
Does the AC9 A managed services deployment include the cost of running on AWS or do I have to purchase that separately?
Can I upgrade from AC8 on premises to a managed deployment?
Can it be merged with some on premises installs of Connect and/or Connect Edge for a customised install?
Does it scale based on user demand or as a result of consultation between AC support and Client or not at all?
Does it scale from simple install to clustered version by simple I mean 1 Connect, server and associated support servers kind of setup to a more robust setup involving edge servers and clustering?
Can I modify the deployment or have it modified for me during the life of the deployment e.g. add SSO a few months after 1st deployment?
Is there a minimum number of host licences that need to be purchased?
Can I specify data location rules e.g. all data resides within EU datacentres?
Can extra features like Events or Courses be added to the managed deployment?
Is it only AWS platform that is avaialble for the managed services?
What kind of feedback on usage/performance of the deployment environment does the client get? (can the client access the logs, resource usages of the AC servers or is access only via the Connect web UI and the Adobe Support ticketing system)

    1. You are paying an annual fee, there shouldn't be additional costs unless you increase licensing. The accounts are all deployed on AWS, I believe.
    2. Yes, it will cost money to migrate the data, but it can be done.
    3. [Updated] This is probably possible if you throw enough money at it.
    4. The account can scale as needed. This is more of an issue around licensing though. Maybe I'm interpreting the question wrong.
    5. The setup of Edge Servers and Clustering is on Adobe. You purchase the account and licensing, they get their hands dirty to configure setup. I know there is clustering for fail over scenarios.
    6. Yes, the account is like having a licensed deployment, only you can call Adobe and yell at them when it doesn't work. SSO, SSL, additional licenses can all be added when needed.
    7. There is a minimum cost, so I guess licensing could be tied to that, but it would vary based on the account needs.
    8. Probably, that is best answered by the ACMS team.
    9. Yes, just purchase the licensing.
    10. AWS, I believe, is the only platform offered by ACMS.
    11. You should have full access to the logs (or at least be able to request them at any point, or set up a recurring delivery of the logs/information). Think of this as a licensed deployment, you will have all the info you get by running your own server. I don't know a web UI that will deliver this info, but there may be something that Adobe can put in place. You should have a dedicated number of a person or team to reach out to for your ACMS deployment. You shouldn't need to start at 800-42-ADOBE.

  • FCoE options for Cisco UCS and Compellent SAN

    Hi,
We have a Dell Compellent SAN storage with iSCSI and FCoE module in pre-production environment.
It is connected to new Cisco UCS infrastructure (5108 Chassis with 2208IOM + B200 M2 Blades + 6248 Fabric Interconnect) via 10G iSCSI module (FCoE module isn't being used at th is moment).
I reviewed compatibility matrix on interconnect but Compellent (Dell) SAN is only supported on FI NXOS 1.3(1), 1.4(1) without using 6248 and 2208 IOM which is what we have. I'm sure some of you have similar hardware configuration as ours and I'd like to see if there's any supportive Cisco FC/FCoE deployment option for the Compellent. We're pretty tight on budget at this moment so purchasing couple of Nexus 5K switches or something equipvalent for such a small number of chassis (only only have one) is not a preferred option. If additional hardware acquisition is inevitable, what would be the most cost effective solution to be able to support FCoE implementation?
Thank you in advance for your help on this.

Unfortunatly there isn't really one - with direct attach storage there is still the requirement that an upstream MDS/N5k pushes the zoning to it.  Without a MDS to push the zoning the system it's recommended for production.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/gui/config/guide/2.0/b_UCSM_GUI_Configuration_Guide_2_0_chapter_0101.html#concept_05717B723C2746E1A9F6AB3A3FFA2C72
Even if you had a MDS/N5K the 6248/2208's wouldn't support the Compellent SAN - see note 9.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/mds9000/interoperability/matrix/Matrix8.pdf
That's not to say that it won't work, it's just that we haven't tested it and don't know what it will do and thus TAC cannot troubleshoot SAN errors on the UCS.
On the plus side iSCSI if setup correctly can be very solid and can give you a great amount of throughput - just make sure to configure the QoS correctly and if you need more throughput then just add some additional links

  • Where is the doc for xml task options for deploy and ojdeploy-build ?

    I am a new user.
I tried using jdev help to find my answer, but got lost quickly in the zillions of manuals.
    1) Where is the manual/doc for the xml task attributes/options for the Ant tags <deploy> and <ojdeploy-build>?
I am modifying an xml script that ojdeploy will call, but do not know what attributes/options are supported for these tags. I need to know whether an option such as failonerror exists, so that I can report a bug that <deploy> does not default to fail on error (or that <ojdeploy-build> ignores the error and continues with the script.
    Followup questions:
    2) How do I find the java code that implements the tags <deploy> and <ojdeploy-build>?
    3) How do I report a bug on the implementation for these tags and propose a fix (assuming I can see the java source code)?

I guess I wasn't clear enough. What I tried to say was:
    1) Where is the manual/doc for the xml task attributes/options [I meant to say attributes/elements] for the Ant tags [I meant to say tasks] <deploy> and <ojdeploy-build>?
I did not mean the ojdeploy command, but the Ant tasks <ojdeploy-build> and <deploy>.
The jdev help does not seem to provide the complete list of elements or attributes for these critical Ant tasks, though it has a few examples.
So far, it appears that <deploy> has been misdesigned and I cannot do what I want, which is to "failonerror" (failonerror="true" should be the default but the opposite is true and there is no attribute to change the setting).
You could consider this to be a bad flaw in Ant itself, that you cannot get the exit code from every Ant task (since they are java programs they do have an exit code), so when new tasks are implemented by folks who lack experience they may leave out access to this programming feature that is however implemented for a bunch of important core Ant tasks such as "java" or "exec". It would have been far more useful to make this a generic feature of all Ant tasks. Of course then folks would be asking for stuff like "fail if" or "fail unless" and where would it end? Maybe with a real programming language like TCL but in XML form.

    Identify Your iPad
    http://www.ifixit.com/Info/ID-your-iPad
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.0.4. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.
     Cheers, Tom

It depends upon how the other machines are connecting to your MBA:
If the the other machines are also using wi-fi, they can connect directly to the wireless access point (router) without going through your MBA
If the other machines are connecting to the MBA using ethernet you can share your wi-fi connection to them

  • NI Industrial Communications for EtherCAT 2.4 requires FPGA deployment option?

I am using NI Industrial Communications for EtherCAT 2.4, along with PXI real time target and some third party EtherCAT devices.
When I right clicked on my third party slave device in the LabVIEW project tree and selected Online Device State it started searching for NiFpgaBitfileGet_all.vi, then put up a message Cannot display selected category. I have temporarily fixed it by installing the FPGA deployment option. Will the fix still work once the 30-day evaluation period is over? I shouldn't need FPGA deployment option so why is there a dependency?

I do not have any NI slave devices. The third party device is a Micro-Epsilon confocalDT 2451 distance measurement probe. My controller is a NI PXI-8109, and I am using a PXI-8231 as the EtherCAT master. I am using LabVIEW 2011 with LabVIEW Real-Time 11.1. As an initial test setup I have just the one slave, as the attached project tree shows. I eventually want to have eight of these slaves, but that will need another thread. I have not had the opportunity to try "Revert to Default Personality" yet.

JDeveloper2 provides a natural coupling to OAS and 8i which no
other tools offer. The Connection Manager, Oracle's InfoBus
beans, Info Form wizards, CORBA definition wizards, deployment
wizards for 8i etc. are all there to tie the suite together.
I used JBuilder with 8i813beta well before JDev2Beta was
released for Web Server Applications/CORBA. 8i provides a
number of command line utilities(loadjava, dropjava, publish,
sess_sh etc) to perform the deployment of CORBA objects. JDev2
are essentially calling those utilities but wrapped around a GUI.
You can certainly use other tools but you will probably discover
some critical features are missing. Features such as SQLJ
support and a light weight servlet engine for debugging servlets
    are well worth it.
One thing I hope Oracle would address is remote debugging of
Java in the Database(either JSProcs/CORBA objects). You can
certainly debug CORBA objects outside the database using
Visibroker/OSAgent but this means you have to change a lot of
code for debugging b/c Visibroker doesn't support sess_iiop nor
    AuroraJTS.

There are a number of other concerns that I've listed in a
post "heavy IIOP issues - 8i/408" but nobody has responded to
    that and probably never will.
I think JDev3 with OBC4J will offer further encouragement to
move away from other dev tools though. Depending on whether
your organisation will take advantage of this new enterprise app
framework you may not need to make the move. I dont know I
haven't used it but I'm waiting in anticipation. I'd be
interested in hearing what the beta testers are saying about the

In individual CC the maximum purchase can be done for 1 year,
However: An Enterprise Term License Agreement (ETLA) is ideal for organizations that manage large deployments of Adobe software and prefer a direct relationship with Adobe. An ETLA provides custom software licensing options and pricing for volume purchases, access to advanced customer support programs, and streamlined IT administration tools to package and deploy Adobe apps and services across the enterpris with an agreement of three years.

  • Deployment Options

OWB newbie here - previous experience in custom built ETL. Multiple clients using our Oracle OLTP. Now need to build a warehouse that can be deployed to all clients but with options to switch on/off relevant components. Possibility/probability of moving into disparate source systems in future. So I have questions about deployment options.
    1. Deploying to many targets when we cannot see the target. Brief reading tells me that we need to export the metadata, install the OWB client and runtime repository on site & deploy it all there? If all sources are Oracle, then the "here's your script, execute it every night" would be a simple deployment. Maybe with more disparate sources (flat files, etc), having to install OWB is a small overhead compared to the potential pain? Any advice welcome!
    2. Core source schema is the same, but some modules may not exist on some client sites (e.g. different countries use different third party data). So invalid staging packages result in invalid parent packages? I suppose a possible workaround is to put the staging extract in dynamic sql so it always compiles and only run when the parameter is switched on. But then we're possibly losing some OWB benefits (source tracing, etc). Are there other options for this sort of thing?
    Thanks for your help!

Or you could also assume that you have to do the initial leg work...
Analyze all sources which could be different based on the country, region, etc.
But that's not a problem because you can handle that using custom view in your integration layer to make all sources look at some point idential
Then you could load all this wonderfull data in your target DW using the same processes ....

  • Options for 3rd Party Portal Authentication

We are implementing EP 6.0 SP12 at Tellabs. But there is  BroadVision portal that is at the front and so authentication happens at BroadVision. Since we need single sign-on between the 2 portals, we are exploring various options for this.
Option 1: Custom Login Module - We will need to implement a Custom Login Module that picks up a cookie from BroadVision request, use that cookie to check with BV and then allow access to EP resources.
Option 2: Portal Service - We will need to implement a Portal Service that picks up a cookie from BroadVision request, use that cookie to check with BV and then if the user is authenticated pass the request to a standard login module.
Option 3: Servlet filter – Is it possible to use a J2EE Servlet Filter for all requests coming to irj? We have implemented a standard Servlet Filter and tested it on some custom J2ee applications on Web AS 6.40. But we are unable to integrate it with the irj application. How should we deploy/configure the Filter with the standard Header Login module?
We tried deploying the Filter using the Visual administrator, NW Developer Studio and the Deploy Tool - but for some reason the Filter does not deploy on irj. Is there anyway to deploy a Servlet Filter (a J2EE
filter) on irj and make it work?
We are considering Option 1 since we are facing deployment issues with Option 3. If we get a solution for Option 3, it would save us a lot of development/testing time. (Servlet Filter has already been developed and tested)
