Possible to force Flash to default to "low" quality setting globally??!!

I really hate all the flash-laden websites around these days. I know that it is the way of the present, but is there a way to force the Flash plugin to default to the low quality resolution setting globally? I would do backflips of joy if that were the case. I have searched high and low for a solution, but I have found none.
Thank you!

This is what I did to auto set a master page for all new sites.
1)Create a new blank vs solution
2)Set the site url to your site collection
3)Add new item->event receiver
4)web events->a site was provisioned
5)
public
override
void
WebProvisioned(SPWebEventProperties
properties)
base
.WebProvisioned(properties);
properties.Web.CustomMasterUrl =
"/_catalogs/masterpage/custom.master"
properties.Web.MasterUrl =
"/_catalogs/masterpage/custom.master"
properties.Web.Update();
6)deploy

  • Force Flash 10 games into low quality always. Help please.

I have an old computer and Flash always being set to "HIGH" everywhere is KILLING me.
I can't go on facebook myspace or pretty much anywhere without it taking ages to load. Once it loads i put everything to "Low" and it's fine...until it refreshes! and its back to high.
I also used to enjoy playing many flash based games. No longer can i play them due to everything being set to HIGH !
Ninja Warz for example, i love this game, but whenever i actually manage to load into a fight,  i get stuck there for 15 minutes trying to load back to the home screen!
There HAS to exist some way, some script, some browser, some program that will AUTOMATICALLY make anything flash appear in LOW QUALITY by DEFAULT ???
Please, flash owns the internet, everything is run on flash. Default=HIGH is ruining my internet experience!
I have tried googling the problem and what i''ve heard is
    Get Firefox
    Get Greasemonkey
So i did, the only things regarding the function of "Flash quality=low" is one script, and posts dating back to 2004!!.
The script has worked for me, but ONLY for EMBEDDED Flash. Such as youtube videos and some advertisements. Those are set to low. It has helped tenfold with internet browsing. BUT the script does NOT work with pop-out flash games! such as newgrounds games or Facebook applications like farmville, ninja warz. etc.
Those are all still set to high, and yes if i set them to low they work just fine, but they reset themselves to high in under 5 minutes! one smooth battle in ninja warz is all i get until i have to go back to the home screen which sets everything back to high!
    http://apps.facebook.com/ninja-warz/
thats the program i mainly want to run LOW !!!!

  • Client-side default to low quality

    Hi all,
I have a very slow computer (700 Mhz PIII with 358 MB ram).
There are certain videos and applets that almost crash my computer
upon loading in to Firefox, but run very smoothly when I set the
Quality setting on the right click menu to "low".
What I'd like to do is force any SWF that loads in a Web
Browser to use the "low" quality setting, whether the SWF author
likes it or not. Any SWF that loads must, must, use the "low"
quality setting whether that setting is available on the menu or
    not.
Is this possible? If not, it absolutely should be for slower
    computers.
    TIA

You will need to use mozilla firefox and the greasemonkey plugin. using this setup you can force most flash pages to low quality.
Take note adobe, if you keep enforcing your ideas and ideals on me i will disable the flash interpreter for all but the pages that require it to be able to read them.
i'm tired of ads on web pages using 95% of my cpu (yeah thats right bigpond i'm watching you). for a start you havn't asked my permission to use my cpu and you aren't paying the electricty bill or my bandwith bill which you would need to do to be able to legally force this.
Also do not moderate or change my post as this will only increase my distaste with your company

  • How to put in low quality without use the mouse ?

    Hello,
I look for a means to put an flash player application in low quality by passing only by the keyboard.
By example, for put in high quality, I can use the hotkey shortcut ctrl + h.
I search that too for the option 100% and "afficher tout" (in french).
    Thank you very good.
    (sorry for my approximately English)

    You can change the quality with the stage class in ActionScript. For example:  stage.quality= StageQuality.LOW;
If you want to use key events to change that then you will have to create keyboard event listener and in your event listener function you change the stage's quality.
Hope this give you some insight

  • Preview Quality Setting--is low good enough?

I tried importing a set of images at different preview quality settings: 10 jpegs, 27MB total, 1440 pixels standard preview size. At low quality, standard previews took 1.8MB, adding 1:1 previews increased it to 7.6 MB. Medium quality was 2.9 and 12.8MB, while high was 6.2 and 30.2MB! Doing side-by-side comparisons on-screen, I can see absolutely no difference between low and high-quality previews, either standard or 1:1. Is there any reason not to use the low-quality setting and save a bunch of storage space?

    Fred,
    This is interesting.
For the standard preview, I definitely see a difference in quality between Low, Medium, and High... the High setting being the only acceptable one for me.
However, when I have Previews set to Low, and the standard preview looks terrible, once I render the 1:1 preview (keeping the Previews setting to Low), the image looks fine.
There could be two possible explanations:
1.) The 'Previews' setting of Low, Medium, & High *does not* apply to 1:1 previews.
    --or--
2.) Since my image is a 20MP image (huge), even rendering a 'low-quality' 1:1 preview is all right, because by the time you zoom out to fit-to-screen, the resizing/downsampling makes the preview look acceptable.
Anyone care to chime in on which of the above 2 scenarios is more likely? Or if there is a 3rd that I am missing?
    Thanks,
    Rishi

  • Can I add an extra lower quality music library to iTunes for iPhone syncin?

    Hi
I currently have my whole iTunes library in Apple Lossless format as I like the high quality for my AppleTV and don't mind the extra HD space it takes up. However, it means that the files are really too big for the limited 8GB capacity of my new iPhone.
Question - can I set up a seperate area/seperate Music Library/seperate folder (whatever), where I can duplicate my entire current iTunes Music Library at a lower quality setting, specifically for use when syncing to my iPhone?
    1. How would I duplicate to a lower quality?
    2. How do I set up a seperate area for these lower quality files that will sync to iPhone?
    3. Could I automate the CD ripping process so that it placed a file in each of the seperate areas (big ask that one)?
    Kind regards,
    Garglon

    1. Go to iTunes Preferences>Advanced>Importing
    Select Import using <AAC encoder> Setting <Custom>
Select the music you want to duplicate and add it to a playlist so its easier to find
Select all music to duplicate again right click and select Convert Selection to AAC
    2. Close iTunes. Open iTunes holding the option key
It will ask you if you want to create a new library or open an existing one. Select create library
Add the new lower quality songs to the library
You can add the original songs first to this new library >>> then convert >>> and after the conversion remove the original songs from the library(just from the library do not move them to trash)
You can also just create a new playlist with the lower quality songs but then you would have duplicates in your library
3 You would have to import the songs from the CD twice
    a. Once in the good quality library(by changing the import settings back from the low quality)
    b. Then open the new library change the import settings and import again
An easy way to find the newly created files is adding a new smart playlist with the rules:
    Playlist is Music
Limit to <how many songs you are duplicating> <items> selected by <most recently added>

  • Is it possible to force 16/32-bit stack alignment without using the optimizer?

The compiler emits code targeted at the classic Pentium architecture for the -m32 memory model.  I'm running into problems mixing Sun Studio compiled code with code built with other compilers because the other compiler builds under the assumption that the stack is 16-byte aligned.
The only way I've found to force Sun Studio to comply with that restriction is with -xarch={sse2a,sse3,...}, but this causes the code to pass through the optimizer.  As noted in the documentation, if you want to avoid optimizations you must remove all flags that imply optimizations -- that is to say, there's no way to disable optimizations once enabled.  This should not, however, be treated as an optimization because it's an ABI requirement.
I've scoured the documentation, spent many hours googling, digging through forums, and asking questions.
The best I've come up with is the -xarch option which is sub-optimal because it has side effects.  I tried -xchip=pentium4 (this is what my other compilers have set as their default target), but the generated code doesn't force 16-byte stack alignment.
Is there a way to force the compiler to emit code conforming to a different ABI without using the optimizer?
    -Brian

    Thank you for your response.
I hope you won't mind my asking: do you have a way to prove that it's not possible to force 16-byte alignment without using the optimizer?  I ask because your username / profile don't give the impression you work for Oracle, so while I think you're probably right it's at least possible that we're both mistaken.  I haven't been able to find any documentation on either stack alignment or altering the targeted ABI short of using the -xarch flag, and even there the details are fairly sketchy.

  • How to suggest flash objects they should play at low quality.

I should also note that this doesn't stop developer from inserting code in thier flash content that a. sets the flash quality to high and b. removes the quality menu from the client.
I have seen this done for a competition from a company in australia.
As soon as this activity becomes widespread the plugin will be disabled as i stated above. And i will request a non flash content version from that website as they may not force me to use flash and i believe there may be legal repurcussions to any entity that tries to force thier customers to use flash.
Anyone having the same problem and feeling the same way about flash please feel free to post below.

It is not Flash Player that inserts ads onto websites, but the site owners.  If you don't like these ads, don't visit their websites.

  • Possible to force install other Mac OS'es other than ones shipped?

    Hello everyone!
So, I have a power mac G4 2003 dual 1.25 MDD model and although I have the original install/restore disks for 10.2(Jaguar) and OS 9.2.2, I was wondering if there is a way, or if it exists, of hacking the firmware to allow my system to boot anything lower than 9.2.2?
Although, I got a glimpse of what OS 8.6 and lower looks like through Sheepshaver, I wanted to go a little step further and see if it is remotely possible to FORCE recognize on boot any version of Mac OS other than the ones that came with the machine?
I want to natively boot into Mac OS 8.6 and see what it looks like in full screen and just to see how it runs for nostalgic reasons. I know System 7.6.1 won't work for sure, though there has to be a way to allow the system to recognize by force mac OS's that are lower than what came with the machine?
Even Puma and Cheetah would be interesting to see. Again, I know this is a rather stupid question or request, but has anyone ever done this, or if it is remotely possible?
Thanks and have a great Monday!

There are plenty of examples where what you want to do would work fine. But on the specific Mac you are using, the mirrored drive doors G4, there were major architectural changes.
The Bus Controller used in previous Macs was replaced with a different High Speed custom Integrated circuit that provided access to a never-before-seen type of memory running faster than ever before. No support for it exists in any previous version of any Mac OS. That same IC also provided a previously unseen Interface to the Hard drive, now at ATA/100 speeds. Another new Interface running at speeds never seen before. And that same IC also provides an Interface for FireWire 800 in certain models, another architectural change. The performance gains are remarkable. That it will not run older versions of Mac OS is completely unremarkable.
Your Mac has a completely different Hardware Architecture for its Memory and Hard drive. There was no code to drive that Hardware in previous versions of Mac OS because that Hardware did not exist when those versions of Mac OS were written. If you want to run older versions of Mac OS, you WILL need an older Mac that can run them. If there were a way to hack it, this community would know about it and tell you.

  • Is it possible to force only a single evaluation of a function?

I am only an occasional user of numbers...
The question:  Is it possible to force a single evaluation of a function like TODAY() ?
i wanted to place the current date into a gas milage numbers document, and I foolishly
    used =Today().
Well the second time I entered the date as above I noticed that the previous entries had
of course been changed to the current date ;(
ie the Today function is re-evaluated whenever the spreadsheet is re-opened.
Is there a slick way of forcing a single evaluation of functions like Today() ?

    Badunit,
I have a keyboard shortcut for Insert > Date & Time that has been working faithfully for about two years now. Prior to that I hadn't had good luck, so it may be my choice of key combination that I assigned to this action. If you'd like to try it, I use:
    Shift-Option-Command-D

  • External screen resolution "defaults" to low-rez (T510, docked; Samsung SyncMaster 730b monitor)

I have a T510 Thinkpad with docking station (Windows XP) with Samsung SyncMaster 730b monitor. Every time I start up, it defaults to low resolution and I need to manually increase the screen resolution. Is there a way to make the default setting for the external monitor is high-resolution?
    Thanks!

    hey ct-user,
it is hard to say if this is caused by the external monitor or by the docking station.
try having the the external monitor connected to the T510 and see if it "saves" the resolution that was previously set.
also, test the external monitor on a different laptop and see if the same issue occurs.

  • Possible to update Flash without admin rights AND without internal server?

We have numerous laptops and tablets that are rarely, if ever, connected to our internal network.  All of our users are standard users; our users are not allowed to be administrator users.
Nonetheless, we'd like Flash Player to automatically update itself from Adobe's servers all the same.
Is it possible to have Flash Player automatically update for non-administrator users without connecting to our internal server?  It seems like we could somehow use the Flash updater service, which runs as the SYSTEM account, to do this.
