Possible to swap multiple partitions into a table?

Hi,
We are using partition exchnage to swap individual partitions into table which then backed up.
This being done one partition at a time.
Is it possible to swap several partitions of a tabel in one go.
using Oracle 11.2.0.3
partioned by date, one partition of reach day.
Is it possible say to move the last 7 days partitions into the other table for backup using partition exchange?
Thanks

No.
If the goal is to back up the data why not just use expdp to export the data for all seven partitions at once? Then drop the partitions.
If you only use one regular table for the exchange you would have to start with an empty table, swap one partition, backup the table, truncate the table, swap the next partition and so on.
Or you could create a table with seven empty partitions and swap the 7 partitions one at a time and then backup the new partitioned table.
Or you could create seven tables and swap each one with a partition and then backup all seven tables.
Too many choices.

  • Insert multiple records into a table(Oracle 9i) from a single PHP statement

How can I insert multiple records into a table(Oracle 9i) from a single PHP statement?
From what all I've found, the statement below would work if I were using MySQL:
         insert into scen
         (indx,share,expire,pitch,curve,surface,call)
         values
         (81202, 28, 171, .27, 0, 0, 'C' ),
         (81204, 28, 501, .25, 0, 0, 'C' ),
         (81203, 17, 35, .222, 0, 0, 'C' ),
         (81202, 28, 171, .27, 2, 0, 'C' ),
         (81204, 28, 501, .20, 0, 1, 'C' ),
         (81203, 28, 135, .22, 1, 0, 'C' )
The amount of records varies into the multiple-dozens. My aim is to utilize the power of Oracle while avoiding the i/o of dozens of single-record inserts.
    Thank you,
    Will

You could look at the INSERT ALL statement found in the documentation here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96540/statements_913a.htm#2133161
My personal opinion is that you probably won't see any benefit because under the hood I think Oracle will still be doing single row inserts. I could be wrong though.
The only way to confirm was if you did a test of multiple inserts vs an INSERT ALL, that is if the INSERT ALL met your requirements.

  • Combine Multiple Worksheets into one table

    Hello Everyone!
I have 2 Excel worksheets within the same workbook. Both have identical tables with almost the same fields except for 2 or 3 different columns in one of the sheets. Currently I have a macro assigned to a button on one of the sheets and I have to click on
it to combine the 2 sheets. I also have a Pivot Table on one of the sheets which pulls data from the table on that sheet and displays it on the existing sheet.
    I wish to :
    1. Combine (merge) these two sheets into one table on a new worksheet when Excel file is opened rather than clicking on the button.
    2. Once the Excel file is opened, i would like to have the Pivot Table to pull data off the combined sheet and display it next to the combined table. Essentially I would like the Pivot Table to be refreshed with the new data from the Combined table rather
    than from one table.
    Is this possible ?
I use the following code to combine the two sheets, but I don't know how to proceed further. Can someone please help me with the rest ?? Thanks in advance.
    Here's the code:
    Option Explicit
    Sub Combine()
    Dim J As Integer
    On Error Resume Next
    Sheets(1).Select
    Worksheets.Add
    Sheets(1).Name = "Combined Results"
    Sheets(2).Activate
    Range("A1").EntireRow.Select
    Selection.Copy Destination:=Sheets(1).Range("A1")
    For J = 2 To Sheets.Count
    Sheets(J).Activate
    Range("A1").Select
    Selection.CurrentRegion.Select
    Selection.Offset(1, 0).Resize(Selection.Rows.Count - 1).Select
    Selection.Copy Destination:=Sheets(1).Range("A65536").End(xlUp)(2)
    Next
    End Sub
The problem with being punctual is, there's nobody there to appreciate it !!!

  • Inserting Multiple Rows into Database Table using JDBC Adapter - Efficiency

I need to insert multiple rows into a database table using the JDBC adapter (receiver).
I understand the traditional way of repeating the statement multiple times, each having its <access> element. However, I am just wondering whether this might be performance-inefficient, as it might insert records one by one.
Is there a way to ensure that the records are inserted into the table as a block, rather than record-by-record?

    Hi Bhavesh/Kanwaljit,
If we have multiple ACCESS tags then what happens is that the connection to the database is made only once. But the data is inserted row by row.
    Why i am saying this?
If we add the following in JDBC Adapter..logSQLStatement = true. Then incase of multiple inserts we can see that there are multiple
    <i>Insert into tablename(EMP_NAME,EMP_ID) VALUES('J','1000')
    Insert into tablename(EMP_NAME,EMP_ID) VALUES('J','2000')</i>
Doesnt this mean that rows are inserted one by one?
Correct me if i am wrong.
This does not mean that the transaction is not guaranted. Either all the rows will be inserted or rolled back.

    Sumit

  • Using DATA_CELL and multiple queries into one table

    Hi WAD experts,
I have been trying to work out how to combine multiple hidden query result sets in their own tables in the template, into one table displayed as if the data originated from one query.
I have been looking at using the DATA_CELL method of "modify table" class.
Has anyone had to do this before - and if so do you have any clues as to how best to do this ?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Here is what I want:
Say I have a query that tells me about how many items were sold at a hardware store for each week. Then the output would look something like this:
    Week,Item,Num_Sold
    13,Hammer,15
    13,Nail,594
    13,Screw,398
    14,Hammer,16
    14,Nail,382
    14,Screw,331
But I want my output to look like this:
<space>,13,14 <-- these would be the week numbers
    Hammer,15,16
    Nail,594,382
    Screw,398,331
I asked this same question in a SQL-only forum and one person responded that they did not know how to do that. But I figure that this is done often enough that there must be some Open Source program that can transform the output data into a table. As you can see, it's not a pure transform. It's more like I take one column, make that the x-axis, another column, make that the y-axis, and "plot" the data based on the two columns. It's kinda like taking 1D data and making it 2D. There's no existing open source program which does this? I figure that I could just give the program my SQL queries, specify some rule such as "Make the first column of the resultset the row, make the second column the column and create a table with the 3rd row, using the first two rows to map the 3rd row into the table". Note that I think this only works with 3 columns.
Anyway, if there is no simple program that already does this, I can make a program to do what I just described. I just asked the question here because I figure that there are a lot of people knowledgeable about SQL and Java on this forum and that someone would know of a tool which already does what I want if one exists.

  • Inserting Multiple Records into two table

I want to insert records from a ADF swing form into two tables. In the first table the primary key is generated by a trigger and then I need to retrieve the primary id generated and then insert multiple records in another table using the primarykey obtained from the first table as foreign key.
    How to do this ?

    User,
If you're using ADF Business components, have a read on the DBSequence data type. If you have two VO's linked by a view link, and the FK is a DBSequence type, all this happens for you out-of-the-box.
    Hope this helps,

  • Inserting multiple checkboxes into a table cell

Hi all, new to Livecycle so I could use a little advice.
I'm trying to insert multiple checkboxes into a single table cell, but as far as I can tell that seems impossible as one checkbox fills the entire cell. Now how do I go about splitting the table cell into 2 rows so that I can insert both of the checkboxes?
I've also got to add a button to create new rows for the table on click so I don't know if that will factor into the answer.

Oracle Order Management provides one to one mapping between Order and (orig_sys_document_ref & Order source). You may need to go for custom solution to consolidate requisitions to create a single internal sales order.

  • Is it possible to have multiple partitions on my hard disk drive and use Bootcamp to install Windows?

    Hi all,
Here is my question: I have MBP early 2011 and was trying to install Windows 8 using Bootcamp but the option to install Windows is grayed out so I can’t click the box next to “Install or Remove Windows 7.” Is this because I have multiple partition on my hard disk drive? Is there anyway I can install Windows 8 using Bootcamp without deleting my partitions on my hard disk?
    Few more details:
    Mountain Lion 10.8.2
    Bootcamp 5.0.0
    Thanks for your response

You can't create a Boot Camp partition on a drive you've already partitioned, and you can't install Windows 8 through Boot Camp at this time.

  • Multiple Rows into a table

Hello, I am trying to insert 10,000 duplicate rows into a table for testing purposes. What statements can I use to do this?
    Oracle 11gv2 on HP-UX

    Hi,
You want all of the 10,000 new rows to be completely identical? Here's one way:
    INSERT INTO table_x (quantity, entry_date)
            SELECT           100,      SYSDATE
         FROM          dual
         CONNECT BY   LEVEL <= 10000
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables, and also post the results you want from that data.
If you're asking about a DML statement, such as INSERT, the sample data will be the contents of the table(s) before the DML, and the results will be state of the changed table(s) when everything is finished. In this problem, it could be that the only table involved has no rows before the DML. In that case, post no INSERT statements, just the CREATE TABLE statement and the results. Simplify the problem. Pretend that you only want to INSERT maybe 5 rows; we'll find a solution that works equally well for 10,000 rows.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.

  • Use multiple partitions on a table in query

    Hi All,
    Overview:-
I have a table - TRACK which is partitioned on weekly basis. Im using this table in one of my SQL queries in which I require to find a monthly count of some column data. The query looks like:-
    Select  count(*)
    from Barcode B
inner join Track partition P(99) T
        on B.item_barcode = T.item_barcode
where B.create_date between 20120202 and 20120209;In the above query I am fetching the count for one week using the Partitions created on that table during that week.
    Desired output:-
I want to fetch data between 01-Feb and 01-Mar and use the rest of the partitions for that table during the duration in the above query. The weekly partitions currently present for Track table are -
    P(99) - 20120202
    P(100) - 20120209
    P(101) - 20120216
    P(102) - 20120223
    P(103) - 20120301
My question is that above Ive used one partition successfully, now how can I use the other 4 partitions in the same query if I am finding the count for one month (i.e. from 201201 to 20120301) ?
    Environment:-
    Oracle version - Oracle 10g R2 (10.2.0.4)
Operating System - AIX version 5
    Thanks.

I'm with damorgan on this one, though I was lazy and only read it twice.
You've got a mix of everything in this one and none of it is correct.
    1. If B.create_date is VARCHAR2 this is the wrong way to store dates.
    2. All Track partitions are needed for one month if you only have the 5 partitions you listed so there is no point in mentioning any of them by name. So the answer to 'how can I use the other 4 partitions' is - don't; Oracle will use them anyway.
    3. BETWEEN 01_Feb and 01-Mar - be aware that the BETWEEN operator includes both endpoints so if you actually used it in your query the data would include March 1.

  • How to insert multiple records into a table?

    hi all
i have a table that name is : TiketsItem
now i  want to 100 records insert my table
    for example : TicketsHeaderRef=52000
    Active=False
    TicketsItemId=45000 to 45100
how to insert TicketsItemId  45000 to 45100 in my table
    thanks all
Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful and He created the human

So, you just want to insert the serialized data into the table, without useDate or WKRef? I'm assuming these values will be updated later?
    Try something like this:
DECLARE @TicketsHeader TABLE (TicketsItemID BIGINT, ticketsHeaderRef BIGINT, active BIT, useDate DATETIME, WKRef SMALLINT)
    DECLARE @startInt BIGINT = 45000
    WHILE @startInt <= 45100
    BEGIN
INSERT INTO @TicketsHeader (TicketsItemID, ticketsHeaderRef, active)
    VALUES (52000, @startInt, 0)
    SET @startInt = @startInt + 1
    END
    SELECT *
    FROM @TicketsHeader
    thanks
    i edited your codes:
DECLARE @TicketsItem TABLE (TicketsItemID BIGINT, ticketsHeaderRef BIGINT, active BIT, useDate DATETIME, WKRef SMALLINT)
    DECLARE @startInt BIGINT = 45000
    WHILE @startInt <= 45100
    BEGIN
INSERT INTO @TicketsItem (TicketsItemID, ticketsHeaderRef, active)
    VALUES (@startInt,52000 , 0)
    SET @startInt = @startInt + 1
    END
    when i execute:
    SELECT *  FROM TiketsItem
i do not see any records inserted in TiketsItem
    how to solve it?
