Post a new asset

Dear all,
According to business transaction, I post a new asset:
1. Post a new asset from AP
2. Post a new asset by manual
3. Acquistion from Assets under construction
Please tell me which transaction I can use to post a new asset though three ways
Thank in advance
Minhtb

Dear Minhtb:
For posting a new asset
1 & 2 . First create an a new asset using T.code AS01 and post a new asset using T.code F-90 with vendor.
If the asset is purchased, MM cycle has to been completed and new asset has to created in AS01.
From AP, use T.code F-43.
3. Create the new asset using Asset class:Assets under construction (T.code:AS01) and for  use Capitalization under construction using T.code AIAB & AIBU. For this Configuration has to be competed in Asset Accounting.
Refer to best pratices in www.help.sap.com.

  • Asset You can only post in new  year after closing the previous year

    Hi Experts,
I am getting below error while running the depriciation:
You can only post in new  year after closing the previous year.
    Message no. AA687
    Diagnosis
You want to post in a new fiscal year. However, a posting must have been made in the last period in the previous fiscal year before you can do this.
    Procedure
Post to the last period in the previous year first.
Note : I closed FY09, even though there were no assets in it at the time.  The first  asset was capitalized on 12/29/09 (clearly in FY10).  I tried closing FY09 again and got the messege  No year-end close is necessary for company code XXXX .
Could you please any one help me on this.
    Thanks In Adwance
    Regards,
    Saritha.

    Hi Saritha,
    Please check the following settings:
o Is there one ore more years since the last depr. run?
Solution: in this case an entry must be made into the table TABA.
                      Note 144441  gives a solution to make a "Dummy-entry".
o If there was never a depreciation run, the there must be 000/0000 in
      TABA and T093D.
Solution: please take the report from the note  Note 144441
and put the values  000/0000 in this fields.
o Do you  have a non-calendar fiscal year (e.g. 2009/10)? In this case
you should have in the field T093D-AFBLG the year 2010.
        Solution: Correction with note 26073

As u imported data from CIM for production and publishing(assuming u imported for both), There is no need to run BIZUI.bat mannually, CIM runs this.
    Coming to ur error:
From the logs  it seems that following mapMode is missing, It's OOTB and should have been loaded while Viewmapping repository data load.

I think there must have been problems during CIM data for publishing environment loading and because of that viemmapping is not loaded properly.
Refer to this post for initial data load : Re: ATG ENVIRONMENT SETUP ISSUE
Let us know if u didn't load publishing using CIM, there is some manual work required to load some repository.

  • Impairment in new asset fixed (FI-AA)

We are implementing SAP ECC 6.0  and IFRS scenario. We want posting impairment in a new asset, ABZU Transaction (write-up), in IFRS 60 valuation area. This posting doesnu2019t work because ABZU transaction required accumulate amortization.
How can we posting impairment in new asset.
Which transaction type we must be used?
Net book value positive in area 60 at fiscal year start
    Message no. AA647
    Asset affected: 000600300021-0001

    Dear Sider,
Transaction ABZU is used normally when you forgot to capitalize an asset in a fiscal year that is now closed. Also, there can be a case where depreciation you calculated in the past were too high. You must now correct this error using a write-up in the current fiscal year.
In your case, an impairment has to result in reduction in the book value of the asset and not a write-up.
The impairment can be done using Unplanned depreciation or Manual depreciation.
Once you enter the Unplanned depreciation, it will get posted after you do a regular AFAB depreciation run.
    Hope it solves your issue.

  • 'You can post in new year only after closing the previous year

    Hello Experts,
I am also getting same error while executing depreciation run AFAB ''You can post in new year only after closing the previous year''.
I found one OSS Note 18800 and it is saying solution as below ...
At the first depreciation posting in the new fiscal year after a shortened fiscal year, the fiscal year variants must, in all cases, still be entered in asset customizing and in FI customizing for the affected company code. If necessary, all periods for the following fiscal year must be maintained with the variant of the shortened fiscal year.
Up to 2.2D the following correction must also be installed:
Please carry out the syntax check only in main program SAPLAFAR.
But in my case there is no shortended fiscal year.
Can I apply this OSS note correction instructions ?
    Please suggest me.

    Hi
I don't think so. Moreover that is applicable till 2.2D.
Moreover depreciation is to be run for all periods you have not run earlier. Please check upto which period dep run has happened. Thereafter close the fiscal years in order thro AJAB.

  • Transfer of existing assets to new asset class

    Hello Experts,
We are working in a one-year old implementation of SAP ECC 6.0. A need has raised which is forcing us to transfer an asset with some Depreciation areas (we are currently working with ten areas between Real Depreciation Areas and Derived Depreciation Areas) to a new asset belonging to a new asset class with fewer areas.
We created the new Asset Class and tested in the quality environment using transaction ABUMN. An example was transferring an asset with two months of depreciation already posted and transferring this one to the new asset at the beginning of the next month.
The main issue is that we desire that the original asset keeps posting depreciation for the areas that are not transferred. Unfortunately, in our tests in the quality environment we have not accomplished this, what the system does is transfer the values to the new asset and then when you run transaction AFAB the new asset does post depreciation in the fewer areas that the Asset Class it is assigned to has but the original asset does not post any depreciation in any area.
We tried maintaining the Transaction Types for Transfers that were used by the system by deselecting the 'Deactivate fixed asset' but it did not work and then we tried creating our own Transaction Types but this also was of no use.
Hope you can shed some light into the issue!

    Dear Sankar,
Thanks for such a quick reply. I have already considered that (SAP forcing you to transfer the whole asset) as a possibility. Unfortunately, as I have already mentioned here at our implementation we need something like this to happen.
Let me elaborate. For the fiscal Depreciation Areas we are required to keep the original information on the asset so that the depreciation that is calculated does not change but conversely for the other areas we desire to change the depreciation that is calculated and posted (for example, some assets will suffer a change in the useful life others might merge into one big asset, etc.) but what we definitely need is to keep the original information in the fiscal areas so we can keep reporting that and therefore can keep paying the correct amount to our local tax authorities.
As I mentioned before I have already considered that as an option. So what we thought was duplicating the assets (through a mass charge of all our assets with the current values), then transferring the 'clones' to assets with fewer Depreciation Areas (we will eliminate the Fiscal Areas since this new assets will be only useful for the non-fiscal depreciation calculation which is the one that will change).
To sum up: the clones will not generate depreciation because when transferred they will be worthless. The assets they were transferred to will generate the non fiscal depreciation.
And finally on the original assets we will deactivate the non-fiscal Depreciation Areas so that these assets continue to calculate the fiscal depreciation.
I would really appreciate your opinion on this strategy or if you think it is a bad or incorrect strategy I would appreciate even more an advise on this matter.
PS. a little doubt now also strikes me: what is the "Deactivate Fixed Asset" in the Transaction Type definition for?

  • One asset value to be transferred into different new asset codes

    Hello,
I have one asset which has to be transferred into different new asset values. The instance as below:
    Old Asset: 1000
    Value: Rs. 10000
    Transferred into
    New asset code: 1100
    Value: Rs. 3000
    New Asset: 1200
    Value: Rs. 2000
    New Asset: 1300
    Value: Rs. 5000
How to proceed? I have tried in ABUMN with partial Transfer but unable to get the result. Need help.
    JK

    Hi,
This can be done through ABUMN only.
You have to post 3 transactions individually to that old asset.
For the first ABUMN transaction choode partial transfer and choose amount specification and enter 3000
For the second ABUMN transaction choode partial transfer and choose amount specification and enter 2000
For the last ABUMN transaction choode Complete retiremnet.(So the balance of 5000 will be transfered to the third new asset)
    Please check.
    Thanks,
    Srinu

  • Re-run depreciation for the month after creating new asset

    Hi Experts,
I have run depreciation for 01.2009. I then created an asset with start life and acquisition posting date as 01.01.2009.
In the asset's planned depreciation, the first planned depreciation period is 02. But the requirement is to re-run depreciation for the month and include the new asset in the run.
    Is this possible? How?
    Thanks!

When you have run the depreciation for period 01 and you create a new asset where the depreciation starts in period 01 you see that the planned depreciation (period 01 and 02) will be posted in period 02
It is possible to do the repeat run and then it will be posted in period 01, you will see this then back in period 01 as posted depreciation.
You can run this as test run and for only 1 asset!

  • Depreciation run problem."You can only post in new year after closing the"

    Hi,
We are implementing Asset accounting to one of our co code.New Assets were created in Jan and when I tried to Post depreciation for Jan, I get an error log that says "You can only post in new year after closing the previous year."
When i double click on error message.
    Diagnosis
You want to post in a new fiscal year. However, a posting must have been made in the last period in the previous fiscal year before you can do this.
    Procedure
Post to the last period in the previous year first.
So I went ahead and opened the previous year, posted the depreciation, closed the year and tried to post Period 1 again, but still get the same error.
Why do I need to post the previous period if I just created the assets in this period?
I Have completed AJRW, AJAB also.
I think it may be a problem with Table. Please suggest me.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Please check the following :-
    1. Check the Last Closed year in your Asset Accounting.
    2. Check the Last Depreciation Posted in Your Asset Accounting.
These 2 menus are available in "Data Transfer in Fixed Asset Accounting".
revert back to me for further actions,

  • How do I split a few assets set up in 2010 into hundreds of new assets?

New plant in 2010 and didn't have asset details until 2011 so around 10 assets were set up for the totals in 2010.  What is best method to split the existing assets into hundred of new assets?  Due to the large number of assets that need to be created we prefer to automate process as much as possible - such as load via LSMW if possible.
Have tested creating new assets with one LSMW which sets up asset with 11/01/2010 capitalization date and all appropriate depreciation start dates and than using a separate LSMW to load values but asset value date defaults in with current posting date so the depreciation does not 'catch up' in 2011.  The intent was then to write down the original assets and journal entry the difference out of the GL. Is there anyway to override or cause the asset value date to be something other than the current posting date? Or is there a different LSMW process to follow?

    Hi
    I would prefer as below
    1. ABSO - Tr type 101 - Specify an Off Setting P&L Account which is not a cost element
The impact would be: (asset reduced to zero)
    P&L account ...... Dr
    Asset APC .... Cr
    2. Create new asset masters
    3. Do ABSO again with Tr Type 100 and specifying the same P&L account as off setting account
Choose the desired Cap date and Dep Start date in Asset master as required

  • Launching AFAB for a new asset

    Hi All,
I've launched AFAB 'planned posting run' manner for period 02 (cost-accounting area).
Later, I've created an asset and recorded an acquisition on 2010.02.01
Whan I display AW01N for that asset, I can see that in the Cost-Accounting Depreciation Area,
the depreciation is planned from period 03.
Could I obtain a depreciation planned from period 02 for the new asset?
    Thanks
    Gandalf

When you have run depreciation for period 02 then the depreciqtion for new asset you see as planned value in period 03 with the repeat run you can post the real dpreciation for period 02 in period 02.  For more information see your other message

    Hi, Anjiee:
    Zz
You capitalize an asset for a fiscal year in which the asset was not originally capitalized. This posting, however, is to be made for a fiscal year that is already closed. This process would generally take place as part of a government tax audit.
You can find the data for this process under:
    1. You first Create an Asset for Post-Capitalization. The capitalization date for this asset is the date of the original acquisition.
    2. You then Post the Post-Capitalization. At this point, you enter the historical acquisition value.
    3. To analyze the values of your asset, you Display the Asset History Sheet.
    Best Regards, Lawrence
