Posting of XML file on a client's site.

Dear All,
I am required to POST our XML export file on client's site. To do so, the client has created for us a test environment and gave us the IP address, i.e.
http://192.168.6.23:8080/XTI/upload.html. In return, I shall get back client's XML import file.
How can I implement it at all? Where to start? Can I use Oracle for that?

I'll have to process the analogies a bit further which I tend to dissdect too much, so I'll try not to. I agree with it being uobtrusive, harder to find on the page is still much easier than for someone to go to the lengthes they would have to find out from the company.
But have they been known to generate leads? Considering the minimal effort it takes to include the credit, even a single lead is a plus, or just the inbound link. Unless there are downsides that would alter the balance. My concern is in the perception people may have - could it reflect as a negative that I have to promote my business this way?
Is the best practice to get the client's permission, or is it something they would expect and just include it anyway? Or, what about a situation where you basically built the site, then they turned it over to another company who only did content updates? Or, this is a real scenario - my company built the original site, the new one went to another bidder. Yet, I'm still called upon twice a year to update their product and pricing catalog. Would it be appropriate to include my name on just those pages?

URGENT - Posting a XML file to a listener URL

I have a situation like this: A servlet Client should post a XML file
to a listener URL, and the listener responds back with a XML file
after the processing the posted XML file.
1. Before posting, the servlet client should establish a session with
the server on which the listener URL is sitting and the Server will
return a cookie with the authentication credentials to the servlet
client.
2. That cookie should be added to the HTTPResponse and then the
posting of the file should happen.
The first part is happening okay ..and i could add that cookie to the
HTTPresponse.
Now, did anyone successfully post a XML file to a listener URL like this from a servlet?
I tried using URLConnection, but my cookie got lost and i got back a 401 error. The key there is i should use the same HTTPrequest and HTTPresponse objects, as the cokie needs to be retained!
Any example code please!!

Thanks for your response, but i dont think using authenticator would work. To tell you exactly what is happening there, the url to which the sevlet posts the XML file is protected by Siteminder ( a Enterprise securty platform) and all it requires is a cookie with authenticated credentials on the httprequest/httpresponse objects which are trying to post to that URL. If it find the cookie with the credentials, then the requestor will not be challenged for credentials.

when i execute the servlet, i get a tomcat error 401 on the last line above.
So the new URLConnection that is being opened, is not carying the credentials with it, or the siteminder is unable to read the credentails from the URLConnection. But i am positive that it can read the credentials from the cookie from the HttpResponse object.
Do you have any more ideas, please?

Help: question on send XML file from java client to java server

Hi, I am now to Java, and now I am going to set up a simple network in the lab.
I have created a random array of data and transferred to XML file on my client. Now, I would like to send it to the server. I am wondering how I can put the XML file into my client, and do I need any parser to let the server show what random date it has received?
Anybody can give me any idea or some basic code? Thank you.
Now, I am referring the KnockKnock example in Java online tutorial. But, not clear how to deal with the XML File.

There are several ways you can achieve this: one could be that you transfer data over HTTP, using Servlets for instance. Have a Servlet listening on the Server with content type 'text/xml', POST the XML data to the server and have the Servlet to receive the data and re-compose the XML file. This can be achieved with different libraries:
1) JAXB --> this is good because is the JDK standard, also for web services
2) Castor (http://www.castor.org/)

when i give a print from client machine first time it gives the record,and next time it did not get refresh.Always it shows the previous records in the browser.But when i go into the server machine and click on temp.xml,it shows the current record(correct records)

You never delete a Time Machine backup by dragging it to the Trash. You are supposed to use the TM application to manage the backups. What you will need to do now is to simply erase the drive using Disk Utility.

XML file for deleting a course site

I would suggest checking out and using the XSD when setting up your web services.
This should prevent you from getting some frustration with incorrect tag names.

How do I get an XML file on the client side hard drive

Is there a way to get XML files from a Flex form and get it
to the hard drive on the client side? I realize Microsoft got
impaled by allowing this sort of thing with ActiveX. We would like
the app to be browser based but need XML files dropped off on the
hard drive. There is an application running locally that needs to
consume them. Can I run flex standalone without web services and
still access the hard drive? Seems robust enough to do so.

You need to ask the printing service provider. Dealing with color totally depends on the printing process involved and of course the machines used.

Send updated xml file to the client with out any request

I am showing the data in the form of a table ,where the data are taken from a XML file. If i change the content of that XML file, the server should send the updated data to that client page, that means the client page should get refreshed automatically when there is a change in that XML file. The client is not supposed to know the server. You will need to have a periodic refresh. :)

Where do we post the .xml file with new redirect code?

We have two existing iTunes podcasts, which we wish to combine, rename and host with a different company. The old ISP submitted our original podcasts, and they are not being very direct regarding our questions about a redirect. We are not sure where the edited .xml file needs to be uploaded. Does it go to the directory of the old podcast host? If the old host is not willing to upload the file, is there a way to get around this?

This will not work.. Ypu cannot use FTP to 'PULL' a document into the database. (Yes I know there's a placeholder for an FTPURITYPE() but it was never implemented).
However you can use an FTP client to PUSH content into the XML DB repository. If the content is schema based XML associated with a known (registered) XML schema the content of the file will automatically be stored in the default table associated with the root element of the file. If the content is not associated with an known XML schema you can then use xdburitype to read the resource that was created when the document was uploaded into the repository

Sending xml file from client to servlet

I am writing the server component of an applcation, such that it will receive xml files from the clients(standalone application similar to javaSwing stuff but it's coded in C#), and the servlet will have to extract the data from the xml file and update the mySql database. it will also fulfill the client's request for xmlFiles (and extract data from DB, format to xml file and send back to client)
I'm new to implementing the servlet receiving files from clients so would need some help.
I've got 3 questions to ask:
1) How does the servlet receive/returns the xml file from the client as a series of httpPost request/response. Do i send a File or the file's contents as a String to/from the client?
2) Is it also a must to use socket for the file transfers? I have read in other posts about sockets as well as HttpURLConnection but i don't quite understand.
3) When I send a file back to the client(client is standalone application written in C# whereas server is coded in java), what do i specify for the HttpResponse.setContentType() in my servlet? (i'm returning the xml file to client)

Earlier I incresed the PROCTIME as 600 secs ( OSS Note 824554 ) -->

In this case do I need to increase this parameter value again & what should be the optimal value which will not effect the performance of the system too.

Write XML file on client

I'm trying to generate XML files on a client machine. I'm using SQL*Plus Instant Client v 10.1.0.4.0 connected to DB version 10.1.0.3.0. I've created a view of XMLType and am able to select XML from this view. I've been unable to figure out a way to generate well-formed XML via a Spool command and Select statement as Sqlplus returns the XML as one row and has problems with line wrapping, embedded spaces, and also including the SQL command in the spooled output. I've tried many different permutations of Set commands to no avail.
Is there a way to generate a valid XML file from Sqlplus on a client machine using the Spool command? If not Sqlplus, any other suggestions?

I would be inclined to write a pipelined function to take a clob, and break it up into pieces (perhaps after a '>').
Here's an example of a pipelined function, which you can modify to suit your needs, such as working with CLOBs. You may also want to add more intelligence to it, such as checking for when the chunk is longer than 2000 characters.

read or write xml files to a user's computer. What can be done,
however, is write xml to what is known as a SharedObject.
SharedObjects act as cookies for Flashplayer.

How to send an XML file via HTTP_POST

I have an ABAP program that creates an XML file and I need to somehow post this XML file to a webserver and read the HTTP Response that it sends back. I see that there is a function module called HTTP_POST but I've never used it before. I also see that there are a number of ABAP Objects related to HTTP. Has anyone done this before.

Collect data from a dynamic XML file into multiple internal tables

I need to convert the XML file into multiple internal tables. I tried many links and posts in SDN but still was facing difficulty in achieving this. Can some one tell me where I am going wrong.
My XML file is of the following type.It is very complex and the dynamice.
The following tags occur more than once in the XML file. The "I" and "L" tags and its child tags can occur ones or more than once for each XML file and it is not constant. i.e in one file they can occur 1 time and in another they can occur 100 times.

Thanks for the effort!
But I don't need to use GUI upload because my functionality does not require to fetch data from presentation server.
Moreover, the split command advised by you contains separate fields...f1, f2, f3... and I cannot use it because I have 164 fields. I will have to split into 164 fields and assign the values back to 164 fields in the work area/header line.
Moreover I have about 10 such work areas. so the effort would be ten times the above effort! I want to avoid this! Please help!
I would be very grateful if you could provide an alternative solution.
