Potential Problem 2PC

We are using weblogic 8.1 sp4 on our Server
          Solaris 2.9
          We have a Stateless Session Bean which does the following:
          Gets a User Transaction
          Begins Transaction
               gets JDBC TX Connection
               Calls DBMS Stored Proc
               Sends Message to a queue
          Commits Transaction
          What seems to be happening is that the message is sent out before the
          commit to the dbms has occured. We noticed this when a client complained
          when they replied back to a message that the message did not exist in the
          dbms
          We are using Sybase JConnect5.5
          We are emulating 2pc on their driver
          Our Queue Connection Factory has XA Connection Factory Enabled
          Our JDBC Datasource has Emulate Two-Phase Commit for non-XA Driver
          This has occured in production 6 times within the last 5 months.
          Any help would really be appreciated.

          Hi. You can try the JDBC with an XA driver, but it might help or it
          might hurt, depending on how long the DBMS takes to do the commit
          anyway. (I would try it) There is one transaction that includes the
          JMS resource and the DBMS resource. There is no way for a tx coordinator
          to control how long each of these resources take to commit, and they
          may even be committed in separate threads, not serially. The only way
          to ensure that everything is where you want it, is to react only to
          the completion of the whole WLS transaction, not the immediate content
          of any of the resources as they individually complete their commits.
          If the DBMS commit fails, it is ugly in 8.1. Luckily with Sybase
          and MS SQLServer (for instances) a commit is exceedingly unlikely to
          fail at runtime (as opposed to during recovery), because the pessimistic
          locking scheme has made sure the DBMS has already gotten all the locks
          it needed for the tx. The delay may have to do with DBMS log contention...

  • HT5624 My husband, myself & our 2 daughters all use the same Apple ID but w different user names. Is this a potential problem?

    4 members of my family use the same Apple ID but different user names
    Is this a potential problem w privacy etc?

    Since the Apple ID does not have a username, I suppose you mean different e-mail-adresses?
    In theory, this is not a problem, but of course it can be difficult if you want to keep things separated. For example, logging in with you Apple ID will automatically set up iCloud and sync your calendar, reminder, notes, mails etc. You can disable this syncing on your daughter's devices, but then they won't be able to use functionalities unless they create their own accounts (for example set up another email account). I think (but I am not 100% on this) they will be able to create reminders/notes etc. locally on the iphone.
    If you mean app-wise or legal-wise: No, this is not an issue. You can use your Apple ID and the apps you bought on up to five different devices. Still, for simplicities sake and to give everyone their share of privacy I personally would suggest different IDs for everyone.

    Can anyone help me.  I have iPhoto 9.2 and  Mac OS X 10.7.2.
    Every time I open iPhoto 9.2 and try to go to photo stream iPhoto quits unexpectedly.  When I reopen I get "iPhoto has detected inconsistencies in your library.  Please click Repair to avoid any potential problems."
    I have read plenty of the posts on the subject and it seems that deleting the "3ivx" fixed the problem.  I looked at the detaied reports and see where it says "
    Library/Application Support/3ivx" etc..
    On my report it says "/Library/Application Support/iLifeMediaBrowser/*/iLMBiPhoto8Plugin".  Does this help with an answer?

    I am also having this crashing problem. I am running lion on a 2010 mac mini. My iPhoto library is kept on an external drive. I just upgraded to iPhoto 11 and everytime I try to enable photo stream the app crashes. I have tried all the above suggestions, including re-installing iphoto from the Mac App store. Below are the first 50 lines of the error message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Tiff placed in Indesign and set to Multiply mode - potential problems?

    I am set to send a file to print and would appreciate any heads up on any potential problems.
    It's a simple file: cmyk yellow background colour with a bog standard Tiff of black line artwork. Because the Tiff is black artwork on a white background I've set the tiff to multiply mode so the white vanishes and I'm left with just the black lines on the yellow backround.
    Is this the best way to go about this or does it (multiply mode) create problems? Would italways be best to attempt to create a psd with the black line work on a seperate layer (not a white background but transparent)?  What's the "industry standard" way to handle this?
    Thanks.

    If the artwork is just black ink, it should be saved as Grayscale or Bitmap mode. The white parts will take on the color of the frame fill. Grays will be somewhere between black and fill color, depending on the density, or you can change the black to another color.

  • Potential problems with using a report to run a commit in a separate LUW.

    I am working with a classic Badi within a transaction where I wanted to commit some information to a database before the commit that occurs at the end of the transaction.
    Putting a commit point directly inside the BADI caused problems with cursors that were open inside the transaction, so I researched some and discovered that Report Programs can run in a separate database Logical Unit of Work (LUW).
    I coded my BADI to call a report which does some database work based on input parameters, and then commits this work to the database before returning control back to the calling BADI function.
    Does anyone know of any potential problems from doing this?  It seems like a good way to get around restrictions on the use of commit points inside transactions, but I'm not sure if there could be potential undesired effects from doing this.
    Has anyone tried this before?

    Hi Clay,
    Yes I did it too. We faced some issues with commit when using fm HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION . We had to enclose it in separate report which only then let us do physical change in DB.
    What is to be noticed here as well is (according to SAP) that DB commit is triggered each time work process is released which happens when:
    - system shows dialog message
    - RFC call is executed
    - new transaction is called
    The above however didn't work for me in couple cases, but using separate SAP LUW solves the problem (as you already read). This happens each time:
    - new report is called (SUBMIT ...),
    - new transaction is called (CALL TRANSACTION ...)
    - new asynchoronus RFC call is executed (CALL FUNCTION...STARTING NEW TASK).
    This approach works fine for cases I met and had to overcome with such solution. So far we didn't face any issues with that. Works perfectly
    Regards
    Marcin

  • Potential problems of burning a large quantity of CD's on Mac mini

    At my work, we have Intel Mac mini's running Windows XP. One of my managers want a few of us to burn 220 CD's from our mini's instead of paying for CD duplication. Is there any potential problems in burning such a large quantity of CD's?

    While the slot loading drives used in the Mac mini (and other Apple systems) are not the most robust, they are not fragile devices and should not be assumed to be incapable of use in a broadly similar pattern of demand as any other drive. Where they do suffer is in being relatively slow in performance and relatively fussy in media compatibility compared to tray loading devices. As long as you have patience, don't force the disks in (or out) and use media the drives 'like', 220 burns over 6 months should be within the drive's capabilities.
    I do agree with the previous comments that it would make more sense, given the cost of an external burner, to use such a device instead, but that's as much to do with the fact that the improved burn performance and reliability would save more in labor time (and potentially media) than the drive would cost!

  • Potential Problem in migration from 8.1.5 to 9i - Help!!

    Hi,
    We are in the process of migrating our Oracle 8.1.5 Server to Oracle 9i. Till now we have not faced any issue. Came to know that the logic for sort is opposite as in the case of 8.5x and above releases. This should not have any issues in our case, i guess.
    Any help as to on which cases (examples) does it have an impact?
    Other than this, is there any potential problem, which you feel should bother us?
    Please advice.

    Chetan,
    This forum is for migration issues migrating from 3rd party databases to Oracle. You would be better posting this question to the database/general forum

  • Zen 32GB and CreativeMediaSource organizer potential problem?

    I'm using Windows XP home/ SP3
    Hi!? And thanks in advance for any help with this...:-)
    I just bought a used Zen 32GB player ( I haven't received it yet) and already know it's missing the installation CD. I'm anticipating some problems that hopefully will be addressed here.
    I DID read the FAQ for the Zen player but stil not completely clear (sorry!)
    I already have CreativeMediaSource 5 Organizer on my computer from my VisionM and Vplus players.
    ) Without the installation CD, will my computer automatically recognize the new Zen 32GB player?
    2) Will the CreativeMediaSource 5 organizer work to transfer files with the Zen? I find this to be the easiest way.....don't like using Windows Media and synching.
    3) Assuming that I absolutely need the installation CD, where exactly do I download the origianal install software-

    When I receive my used Zen player and want to clean it out and restore it to it's original config,
    what should I do and in what order? ie:? firmware update, application download, charge the player etc...
    Thanks so much. I know I've asked alot of newbie questions but I've never bought a product before without the included software.

    Re: Zen 32GB and CreativeMediaSource organizer potential problem?OBeen addressed on another forum. Yes, CMS5 will be useable with the player so you don't really need to install anymore software for it. If you insist on having more then this is what you can install. It is for XP [url="http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=049" rel="nofollow">here[/url]. For converting Video files to play on the player I use & recommend this one has a preset for the player fast simple & free. [url="http://eng.kipple.pe.kr/doc/badak/" rel="nofollow">here[/url] The first thing you should do is charge the player fully.You may not need to do any firmware updating since the player has been previously owned & has most likely been done. Even if it has not I personally don't think firmware should be meddled with unless it is absolutely? necessary .

  • Potential Problems with Airplay and Mountain Lion

    Hey Everyone,
    I recently purchased an Apple TV, and I tried to use Airplay with our Macbook Pros. Airplay would work with all of the iOS Devices, but when it came to using with the MBP, it would either show a black screen, or a frozen image of my screen. I called AppleCare, and the rep told me it was a problem with the AppleTV, so I returned it and bought a new one, and it did the same thing. I found out that the problem was occuring because of the type of router I was using. I have a dualband router, and I set everything on one band of the router. I decided to try to place the laptops on a different band, and that's all it took. My airplay now works flawlessly.
    So, if you're having a problem with airplay, and you have a dualband router, try placing your computer & iOS devices on the opposite band, and it should work perfectly.
    Hope this helps.

  • HomeHub 2 with Windows 8 : potential problems?

    I currently need to get a new PC, which will have Windows 8. I'm wondering if there will be a problem setting up the HH2 with it, since the original installation disc that came with it identified it being valid only up to Vista. Will the disc also automatically work with later Windows editions?

    You don't need the CD. Use it as a cup coaster or something else.
    You just plug the Ethernet cable into you computer and it should all work.
    If it's wireless you will need to scan for your wirelss network which is the SSid (name) of the homehub. It will be something like Homehub2-xxxx. Click on that then enter your wireless passkey which is on the label of the homehub.
    Windows 8 wil more or less guide you through this when you start the computer up.

  • Potential problem with XMLDOM.writeToClob()

    I'm really hoping that someone can help me with this. Last fall, wrote some code that used XMLDOM to build a document and send it to a web service. I remember having problems with WriteToBuffer and WriteToClob during my development efforts, which I thought were successfully resolved. Now it looks like the problem may be occurring at a client who recently upgraded to use this code. I can't get this to fail in-house, so I can't do much debugging on it. So I'm hoping that someone else has come across a problem like this and remembers what they did to fix it.
    Basically, what happened was, WriteToClob (or sometimes WriteTuBuffer) didn't return anything, even though the DOM document was not empty. I remember going back and forth between WriteToBuffer and WriteToClob, trying to get it resolved. But I don't remember specifically finding any "magic bullet". Here's what I currently have in the code:
    DBMS_LOB.createtemporary (v_source_data, TRUE);
    DBMS_LOB.OPEN (v_source_data, DBMS_LOB.lob_readwrite);
    xmldom.writetoclob (v_main_doc, v_source_data);
    DBMS_LOB.CLOSE (v_source_data);
    Has anyone had a similar problem, and remember what the fix was? I'm also not sure that the Open/Close calls are necessary. Or what TRUE means on CreateTemporary (aside from some generic comment about "buffer cache" without telling me what a buffer cache is).

I remember going back and forth between WriteToBuffer and WriteToClob, trying to get it resolved. But I don't remember specifically finding any "magic bullet". Here's what I currently have in the code:
    DBMS_LOB.createtemporary (v_source_data, TRUE);
    DBMS_LOB.OPEN (v_source_data, DBMS_LOB.lob_readwrite);
    xmldom.writetoclob (v_main_doc, v_source_data);
    DBMS_LOB.CLOSE (v_source_data);
    Has anyone had a similar problem, and remember what the fix was? I'm also not sure that the Open/Close calls are necessary. Or what TRUE means on CreateTemporary (aside from some generic comment about "buffer cache" without telling me what a buffer cache is).

  • Potential Problem with Time Capsule after purchasing second computer?

    I have had a MacBook for 3 years and have been backing it up on a Time Capsule (about 40Gb). Now I bought an iMac and would like to set up a system
    1.with all applications and files on the iMac, as my main computer, backed up on the Time Capsule ,
    2. and with the option to easily synchronize new or adjusted files I produce when I travel with (or work on) my Macbook and iPad .
    How should I proceed to avoid trouble? Any experience with an isuue like that?
    Thank you very much
    Paul

    I have almost the identical issue to above - except for the different version of operating systems (I'm running Lion to Lion both most recently updated). I migrated from a 2009 24" iMac to a new 2011 27" iMac and the first backup to initiate following the migration failed with exactly the same error message. Notably, this was on my 2009 Mac (as I have not activated TC on the new one yet).
    Pondini is a great reference... but following his logic, I would seem to have a corrupt disk. But I can still access the TM history and browse without problem. Help

  • Potential problem

    Hi
    I follow the article at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-schedule.html, creating a simple scheduler to routinely run a task e.g. monthly. Basically the program works. However, I have a few questions.
    The program may looks like
    public class Scheduler ...{
    final Timer timer = new Timer();
    ... schedule(SchedulerTask task, IteratorIF itor){
    Date date = itor.next();
    if(date == null)
    timer.cancel();
    else
    timer.schedule(task, date);
    Because it is recursive, my questions are
    - will this infinitive loop cause out of memory exception or similar problem (stack overflow)?
    - how to design would be better if i would like to give user to determine when to stop the task or change the date they want?
    Thanks

    Because it is recursiveDoesn't look recursive to me.
    will this infinitive loopWhat infinite loop?

  • Changing iTunes Store Apple ID to match my iCloud Apple ID...potential problems?

    Thanks in advance for any feedback you can give me on what problems to expect.
    I know Apple does not allow merging of Apple ID's. I have 2 Apple ID's...one that I use only for iTunes & App store purchase and also for posting on this community support board...another Apple ID I use only for iCloud services. I would like to just work with one ID for everything going forward so I have decided to start using my iCloud ID for everything. I would like to just forget the other Apple ID for good and not deal with it again. But before I make this transition, I am trying to anticipate any problems I might have.
    I know my previous purchases are tied to my old ID so if I change the iTunes store ID on my computer to the iCloud ID and also change the ID in the iTunes & App Store settings on my iOS devices to the iCloud ID, will I have any problems with updating my previously purchased apps or using my previously purchased apps? And will I have problems with playing my previous song purchases?
    Also, what do you suggest I do about my support community posting information which is also under my old iTunes Store Apple ID? I don't suppose I can transfer all my previous posts and profile to my iCloud ID or can I?
    Any other problems or issues that I am overlooking that I should be concerned about? Any suggestions?
    Thanks again for your help.

    Take a look here and see if it gives you the information you're looking for.

  • Potential problems using bootcamp clone on new iMac

    I am contemplating upgrading to the most recent imac (I have a late 2011 model.) If I clone my existing bootcamp parition, could there be problems with the different hardware when transferred to the new machine? I am particularly concerned about driver incompatibility, and any other issues which may arise.
    Many thanks

    Yes, there will be problems, how do you plan on cloning?
