Powerview Reports in sharepoint

after a developing a new report in powerview and saving it. I get the below error while opening the same report in IE and Chrome.
my colleagues can open the same report without any issues. I have tried closing and opening the browser and also done a reboot on my machines.
After i got the below,  i cannot access previously developed powerview reports too. there is no change to any data model
Power View was not able to complete the action due to a query failure.  This can happen if the structure of your data has changed, in which case closing and re-opening the application will resolve the problem.
please advice.
thanks

I managed to resolve it by doing the below.
Shut down the laptop
Undocked my laptop
Started my laptop without docking.
Opened IE and went to QA and tried one of the reports, it worked.
Went to production and tried the below report, it worked.
Docked the laptop back and the same report appeared on screen.
Weird but then ?

  • How to disable Interact option in the exported PowerView report?

    Hi
When I export a PowerView report (from SharePoint) as PowerPoint, it gives option to 'Interact'. However the customer does not want to have interaction in the PowerPoint. They just want to save the slides as images. How do we disable this 'Interact' option

It also prompt for user credentials while opening the report in PowerPoint. How to avoid this and view the slides just as images?

  • Enable Pagination In powerview reports

    Hi
I have created a few powerview reports in Sharepoint 2013 based on SSAS cubes as the datasource.
These reports have huge amount of data and I think it woud it be better if we could have some sort of pagination in the reports( Like in SSRS reports).
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mani,
Depends on what your report looks like, if you make a hierarchy in your Tabular or Power Pivot model you will be able to drill down to more details. Just drag the hierarchy on to a Table in Power View with the facts you want to see. You will notice an
Arrow right next to highest level of the hierarchy.
If this is no option for you, I would keep this report as a SSRS report, why? Power View is the perfect tool for dashboarding. For a report of 300 pages? I would consider a normal pivottable in Excel or an SSRS report (like you have now!). With these kind of
details SSRS is still very well suited.

    Hi Tanay,
I am not aware of a control you can put in PowerPoint, however, you can insert a web browser control and reference a page in SPO (or maybe even directly the path to the workbook, didn't try that).

  • Create subscriptions for Powerview reports like SSRS reports in SharePoint 2010

    Hi,
I have created the power view reports in SharePoint 2010 and now I want to create an email subscription for Powerview reports like SSRS reports in SharePoint 2010. Is it possible? If not, is there any workaround?
    Thanks,
    Suresh.

    Hi Suresh:
Unfortunately, you can't setup subscriptions in PowerView like you can on SSRS. I would suggest you to open up a connect item here and request for this feature - http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer

Please help me to solve this issue. I don't know if uploading the excel workbook is enough or maybe It needed to connect to another data source.
    I Appreciate in advance.

    Hi Ali.y,
Based on the current error message, the error can be related to the
Claims to Windows Token Service (C2WTS) and is an expected error under certain conditions. To verify the issue, please check the aspects below:
         1. The C2WTS Windows service and C2WTS SharePoint service are both running.
         2. Check the SQL Server Browser service is running on the machine that has the PowerPivot instance of SSAS.
         3. Check the domain. You're signing into SharePoint with a user account in some domain (call it Domain A).  When Domain A is equal to Domain B which SharePoint server itself is located (they're the same domain), or Domain
    A trusts Domain B.
In addition, the error may be caused by Kerberos authentication issue due to missing SPN. In order to make the Kerberos authentication work, you need to configure the Analysis Services to run under a domain account, and register the SPNs for the Analysis
    Services server.
To create the SPN for the Analysis Services server that is running under a domain account, run the following commands at a command prompt:
    • Setspn.exe -S MSOLAPSvc.3/Fully_Qualified_domainName OLAP_Service_Startup_Account
Note: Fully_Qualified_domainName is a placeholder for the FQDN.
    • Setspn.exe -S MSOLAPSvc.3/serverHostName OLAP_Service_Startup_Account
    For more information, please see:

  • How to display mutpliple components of one report in SharePoint webparts?

Our customer requires flexible report layouts in SharePoint. For example, if we create a PivotTable, a PivotChart and a filter in Excel, then these three elements should be made available as separate webparts so they can be placed anywhere on the SharePoint
page, e.g. the filter should be placed into an area which only opens on demand. The different webparts that make up the one report should still interact of course.
Another demand is to export certain parameters, e.g. the name of a dimension, and again make that option available in the form of a webpart, so the end user is able to select from a preset list of dimensions.
I am unsure if any of this is at all possible, since I have worked with rather "plain" Report Services reports and some Excel Services (w/o PowerView) reports in the past. I am thankful for any hints concerning such customizations, whatever the
technology may be (must stay in the MS BI world of course). Even implementing custom webparts that somehow communicate with SSAS (using Reports Services web service maybe?) would be an option if everything else fails.

    Hi timvdh,
As per my understanding, you are creating a PivotTable, a PivotChart and a filter using the same AS cube in three Excel files. You want to select some parameters in the filter, then PivotTable and PivotChart can be updated based on the filter.
If in this scenario, I suggest you can open the PivotTable Excel file, then add the same filter in the PivotTable, and then create the same PivotChart based on the PivotTable. In this way, the data in PivotTable and PivotChart can be updated based on the
filter, all components in the same excel file. Then add an Excel Web Access Web Part in a SharePoint page, upload this excel file to the web part.
    Reference:
Display a workbook in an Excel Web Access Web Part
If there are any misunderstanding, please elaborate the issue for further investigation.

  • SQL Server Reporting Services SharePoint Integrated mode - Power View is not supported

    Hi there,
    My environment is the following:
    SharePoint Server 2013
SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise edition
I am getting the following message when trying to open BISM item with PowerView icon:
"The feature: "Power View" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services."
My problem is that the first time I installed SQL Server Reporting Services SharePoint integrated, I used the SQL Server 2012 Standard edition ISO. But then I learned that Power View is only available with Enterprise and BI editions. So I uninstalled Reporting
Services Add-in from Control Panel, Reporting Services from the installation media and deleted the three Reporting DBs in the SharePoint DB server.
Then I used SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise media to install again Reporting Services but not sure why I am still getting the message:
"The feature: "Power View" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services."
Anyone can advice me what could be the problem? Maybe I have not complete deleted  the previous SQL Server Reporting Service Share Point integrated mode from the previous installation? What would be the proper way to uninstall Reporting Services?
    Any help will be welcome.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Joss

    Hi  Joss,
I am in the same situation,
SQL Server was installed in the standard mode because of that the powerview option is not working.
I have changed teh edition using maintenance --> upgrade edition. the sql server components like DB engine, SSAS and integration services are now showing in enterprise edition. The reporting services are installed from the application end still showing
as the reporting services are standard.
we reinstalled the reporting services but still persists the issue.
suggest me is there any work around to fix the issue other than reinstalled the whole SQL Server.
    Thanks

  • Interactive PowerView report (Incl Map) load to Web site

    Hi,
What is the best, easiest & quickest way to load an existing Interactive PowerView report & map to an existing Web site (not Shharepoint)? Interactivity is required after loading.
    Regards,
    Allan

    Hi Allan,
If you want to display a Power View report in a normal PHP or ASP .NET Website, the only way I can think of is that to open the power View Excel document from SharePoint (it should render as a web app) and copy the URL and then use it in your website.
But I don't think you can interact with this 'report'. the SharePoint should be the best option for you to Presenting Power View Reports to Users, since it totally support the Power View report feature.

  • Power view reports in sharepoint 2013 :

How can i add alert and subscription for the power view report in sharepoint 2013 ?.
and please let me know the difference beetween the performance point service and power view report.
    Please response fast.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to add alert and subscription for the power view report in sharepoint 2013.
You need to Additional Configuration to provision for subscriptions and alerts when you install Reporting Services SharePoint Mode for SharePoint 2013.
The Reporting Services subscription and data alert features may require the configuration of SQL Server Agent permissions. For more information, see
Provision Subscriptions and Alerts for SSRS Service Applications
PerformancePoint Services is a SharePoint Server 2013 service application. It enables users to create business intelligence (BI) dashboards that provide insight into an organization's performance. You can create custom reports, filters, tabular data sources,
and scorecard transforms to extend the native functionality of PerformancePoint Services.
Power View in SharePoint is browser-based Silverlight application, a feature of the SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 (SP 1) Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and 2013. Creating, opening, and saving Power View reports (RDLX files)
all take place in SharePoint Server 2010 and 2013.

  • MDX Error in Reporting Services/Sharepoint

    Hi,
    I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 CU5.
I have a reporting that executes a DataSet with a MDX query. That report was executing very well before (in SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1), but after we updated SQL to SP1 Cumulative 5, the report returns an error.
The strange thing is, if we execute the MDX query in Analysis Service, and after that execute the report in sharepoint 2010, it works fine, but about 10 minutes after the reporting returns error again, until we execute again the query in AS.
The error returned isn't clear, just say "Operation Cancelled", this same message is returned by the Analysis Services Log (Profiler).
    Some idea?
    PS.: Sorry my english.

    Hi Fdev,
According to your description, you encounter the issue after apply SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 CU5, right?
Based on the limited information, we cannot give you the exact reason that cause this issue. In order to narrow down this issue, you can apply the latest Service Pack and Cumulative Update as GregGalloway said. Besides, you can troubleshoot this issue by
using the Windows Event logs and msmdsrv.log.
You can access Windows Event logs via "Administrative Tools" --> "Event Viewer".  SSAS error messages will appear in the application log.
The msmdsrv.log file for the SSAS instance that can be found in \log folder of the instance. (C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS10.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Log)

  • Problem running SSRS report on SharePoint 2010 - report renders rendomly

I have an SSRS master report that contains about 30 sub-reports. These reports are deployed to SharePoint 2010 server. Per my understanding these reports run independently of Reporting Server (execute directly from the cube/database).
It appears that this master report executes for about 10 minutes and then returns a blank page for most requests. Seldom it returns the master report consisting 30 sub-reports. I have checked Report Server logs using the following query and it shows no trace.
    Use ReportServer
select * from ExecutionLog3 order by TimeStart DESC
I set SharePoint 2010 logging to the lowest level and reviewed the log for the run-time of the report. This log shows that the report and sub reports are being executed, however it does not provide any significant error information. Follows a sample of what
SharePoint log contains for single sub-report execution.

    Hi Kenny,
    Thank you for your question.
From your description, you can to move the parameter pane from right to the top in the SharePoint site, right? I am afraid this cannot be done in SQL Server 2008R2 SSRS reports on SharePoint 2010 integrated mode. And this is a know issue which you can see:http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/545893/allow-ssrs-parameter-panel-to-be-formatted

  • How to create a SSRS report with SharePoint 2013 team site's calendar?

Hi I have sp13 and SQL Data Rool (that brings up VS Shell 2010).
I need to build a report where the top part is to have a SP Team site's calendar for up coming week. The 2nd half would be a table with data from that same site.  This report would then need to be embedded in a email that automatically sent to several
    users  on weekly basis.
I have the table data report created form the SP list.  How can I get the calendar(display as a calendar that I see in the team site) on to the top part of this report?
    Thank you.

Please follow this article to write SSRS reports with data source as SharePoint list/calendars etc. All document libraries, list and calendars are derived from base list class so you can use any of this type as a data source
    http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/2068/using-a-sharepoint-list-as-a-data-source-in-sql-server-reporting-services-2008-r2/
Once your SSRS report is developed, you have multiple ways to show it in SharePoint
    - upload to SSRS server and show in sharepoint in a page viewer web part or simply open it as a link in new window
    - configure SharePoint environment with integration to SSRS and upload report to SharePoint library. Display report in a web part page using SSRS web part.

  • SSRS reporting with sharepoint list using Distinct and Multivalue parameters

i want create ssrs report with sharepoint list using ms-vs(2008). i want create Distinct multivalue parameters by using CAML query. There is any way we put CAML query where we use Distinct keyword and IN clause in CAML query... i hope all experts will
understand my poor English... sorry for poor English.. plz help me

    Hi AsifMehmood,
Per my understanding you have create an SSRS report with SharePoint list, now you don’t know to create the distinct parameters by using CAML query,  right?
For the CAML language doesn’t have any reserved word (or tag) to set this particular filter to remove duplicate results, but we can use the custom code to do this function. I have tested on my local environment and we can do that by create one hidden parameter(Param1)
to get all the values from the fields which will  add the filter and then create another parameter(Param2) to get the distinct values based on the Param1, we use the custom code to do the deduplication.
Step by Steps information in below thread for your reference to create the parameters and the custom code:
"How to get distinct values of sharepoint column using SSRS"
Other similar thread for your reference:

If your problem still exists, please feel free to ask and also try to provide us more details information.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you get error while running SSRS reports.
Basically, If the Request Management service is enabled, it manages all incoming requests by evaluating logic rules against the user requests in order to determine what\which action to take and which machine or machines (targets) in the farm should handle
    the request.
By default the Request time out value for Request Management service are as follows,
    RequestTimeout                    : 00:01:40
    RequestExecutionTimeout       : 01:00:00
So the error throws from RM service for those reports who take more than 1 minute to generate the report.
To solve this issue, we can stop the Request Management service.
    Or increase the time out
value by making use of following PowerShell  script.
    $waUrl = "URLofWEbApp"
    $wa = Get-SPWebApplication $waUrl
    $rmSettings = $wa | Get-SPRequestManagementSettings
    $req=$wa.RequestManagementSettings
    $timeout2= New-TimeSpan -minutes 5
    Sreq.Requesttimeout=$timeout2
    $req.update()
