Pppd and vpnd changed.....Format String Vulnerability probably cause?

Looks like I am hit with this pppd problem. Noticed when I ran disk utility that pppd and vpnd (I use Cisco VPN) were changed and could not be repaired.
I cannot get net access at all, but I can do an ssh using terminal, sftp, and use screen sharing app (which is ssh). I can print to a network printer. Cannot get connected inside my work. When outside my domain, I can reach all, expect my work domain.
OK, my options seem limited. I must scrape and rebuild, as far as I see it. Is theer another option?
Thanks to all who respond.

I actually want the date format of DD-MON-YY. Which, from what I understand, is the default format for both Oracle 8.0.5 and 9.2.03. I'm trying to figure out why it is now displaying as 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss'. I could convince the client that the code needs changing if I had evidence that this version of Oracle (9.2.03) used a different default date format. Or if Cold Fusion pulls the date differently. • How to pass a XML message as a string and to change the string back to XML

    Hi there,
    in our current application, we have to access a webservice with a message whose XML Schema Definition was provided by the service's provider. But when accessing the webservice's WSDL, it says that the service expects the message part as a string type.
    How can I accomplish to send this structured message (as defined by the .XSD) to the webservice as a string?
    Thanks in advance,

    Michal,
    thanks very much for your help!
    I've managed to correctly serialize a xml into a string with the tips in your blog. However, I've not managed to perform the string -> xml (unserialize) step (I'm using Udo's sugestion).
    The problem is that XI generates a namespace prefix in runtime (it can be ns0, ns1, ns2..., depending on the context), and so I need to reference this namespace into the unserializing XSLT. With XMLSpy, I've managed to correctly transform it using the XPath "//*:my_tag" to the string tag, but this approach didn't work in XI.
    If I try to use just "//my_tag" the transformation concludes successfully, but XI says that the generated XML is not well-formed (probably because it doesn't fits the Schema of the target message, but I'm just guessing here). If I try to use "//:*my_tag", it doesn't even performs the transformation, and gives a "Problem When Testing" error, which says "Transformer configuration exception occurred when loading XSLT ...".
    Any ideas on how to reference namespace prefixes in XSLTs in XI?
    The codes of my XSLT's are below:

  • Numbers for IOS -- How to paste formulas and/or change formatting

    I'm a brand new user of Numbers for IOS (version 5.0.1) on my iPhone...  It was suggested in the iWork > Numbers forum that I check in one of the IOS forums for help with this version of Numbers, and the iPhone forum has a comment to the effect that there are more IOS Numbers users in the iPad forum....  So here's my question:
    I received an email with a cute countdown formula for the new year, =10*9*8+7+6-5+4*321 so I copied it from my email, and pasted it into a cell in Numbers for IOS.  I found that it won't paste at all (the black "Paste" symbol doesn't appear) unless I hit the "T" for text mode, so that's what I did, and I pasted it into the cell of a table.  But it shows up simply as =10*9*8+7+6-5+4*321, not the value of that expression, which is supposed to be 2012.  So I double-clicked a different cell, and selected the = symbol, and then tried to paste the formula into the green bar at the top, but like I said, the only thing that pops up in that mode is the magnifying glass.  So I typed the formula in, using the x in place of the asterisks, and it worked just fine.  So I can use formulas, and I can paste text into cells, but I just can't paste text into cells and have Numbers interpret the text as a formula.  Any hints?  Thanks!

    This isn't a pro answer but I found if you use the + cursor and select all cells and the set font, color or whatever you want, when you then go to specific cells, it will be the way you want.

  • Usr/sbin/pppd and usr/sbin/vpnd.  What are these?

    In performing a permissions repair, it listed usr/sbin/pppd and usr/sbin/vpnd as having been modified and unable to repair. I also performed a permission repair by booting from the Leopard disc, and got the same results.
    What are these, what do they do, and where are they? I couldn't locate them through a search.

    As Limnos says, don't worry about the messages.

    pppd and vpnd are daemons (faceless helper programs). pppd is the Point-to-Point Protocol Daemon, commonly used by dial-up modems and DSL and other kinds of network links. vpnd is for VPNs, or virtual private networks.
    Read the man pages for pppd and vpnd for more information (possibly even more than you wanted to know).
    And as Limnos says, they live in directories that don't get searched.

    Pretend you are explaining this to someone who has no idea what you are talking about (because we don't).
    Statements like "but therewas a problem" are next to meaningless because you didn't explain what the problem is.
    You don't give any useful information such as:
    * Version of JDeveloper/ADF
    * What technologies are you using (I guess ADF Faces, but I don't know)?
    * How did you try exporting to Excel?
    * What was the exact problem you had?
    I've already spent more time thinking about how to ask you questions to get to the real problem than you have formulating your question.

  • SQL LOADER and ORA-01861: literal does not match format string

    Hi,
    I've to load data through control_file(.ctl) into oracle table through sqlldr. Oracle 11g, win xp.
    as soon as I use - sqlldr dss/dss control=orders.ctl I get error or nothing.
    Text file that is generated after loading fails has the following error.
    Record 1: Rejected - Error on table ORDERS, column O_ORDERDATE.
    ORA-01861: literal does not match format string
    I have checked the format of data to be loaded into Orders table is like this : *1996-01-02.*
    I checked the format of data in my database by querying sysdate from dual i.e. 10-JAN-10
    I thought that changing its format might solve my problem so i tried this:
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format='YYYY-MM-DD';
    Session altered.
    SQL> select sysdate from dual;
    SYSDATE
    2010-01-10but still i'm getting the same error. I've to load millions of data. how I can solve this issue.
    Please suggest.

    Hi,
    It's strange ....nobody knew it?. I think this type of load problem will be very common isn't it.... where date column data is in a different format than in the db i.e.
    How to change *1996-01-02* in the Control_file to make it able to load in the table where sysdate is like this: *11-JAN-10*
    Sample data to be loaded is :
    1|36901|O|173665.47|1996-01-02|5-LOW|Clerk#000000951|0|nstructions sleep furiously among |
    Desc Orders
    O_ORDERDATE NOT NULL DATEI have tested this by creating a test table and a test control file by omitting this O_ORDERDATE and then everything was fine, data was inserted but don't know how to load this DATE also.
    Also not able to understand about POSITION in the control file...?

    I'm not familiar with 'styled text'- which does not mean much other than it's on a very long list of things I don't know. But I do know you can cut several steps out here:
    If your script works so far then you can clean it up:
    tell application "FileMaker Developer"
    open "MacintoshHD:Users:stuart:Desktop:Practice.fp7"
    set mytext to record 2 of table 1 of database 1 as styled text
    end tell

  • Parsing formatted String to Int

    How can I parse formatted string to Integer ?
    I have a formated string like this $900,000 and I need to convert it to 900000 so I could do calculations with it.
    I tried something like this
    NumberFormat nf = NumberFormat.getIntegerInstance(request.getLocale());
    ttlMargin=nf.parse(screenVal);I got this exception
    "java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "$1,050,000""

    I am working on the JSP file that provides
    margins,sales etc. I am reading this data off the
    screen where it is beeing displayed according to the
    accounting practices.
    That's why I get it as a formatted string and why I
    am trying covert that string to the numberScreen-scraping is a problematic, bad design. It sounds like what you really want is to call a web service which returns its results as data that a program can understand (XML, for example), not HTML (which is meant more for humans to read). I know, you probably can't change the design at this point... just food for thought. In the meantime, you'll probably have to manually parse those strings yourself by stripping out the '$' and ',' characters and then use parseInt on the result.

  • Time and Date Stamp Format and User name

    Hi All,
    I am very new to adobe acrobat so forgive my ignorance.  I am trying to add a date and time stamp to pdf files using adobe acrobat so that when they are printed using adobe acrobat the print date will be automatically added.  First I have found the below script on the forum which is entered as a field, will this work using acrobat version 5 or version 7?  Also i believe that the date format is 10/01/2009.  How can I change this so that it will be in the 01 October 2009 and 24 hour clock format?  Finally how do I also add some descriptive text before the date and time i.e. 'print date' and 'not valid 24 hours after printing'?
    var f = this.getField("today");
    f.value = util.printd("mm/dd/yyyy
    h:MM tt", new Date());
    One last question is there a way to add a user stamp to a pdf so that when the document is printed out the user's name is printed i.e. 'printed by J Smyth'.
    Many thanks,
    John

    As noted, you need to change the formatting string to generate the date appearance as you need. You can add additional text to this string using the concatenation string operator, '+'. So you can do:
    var f = this.getField("today");
    var sDate = util.printd('dd mmm yyyy HH:MM tt", new Date())
    f.value = 'Print date: ' + sDate + ' not valid 24 hours after printing';
    All of the above information is covered in Adobe's freely down loadable Acrobat JS API and there are additional resources for JavaScript programing at the Acrobat Users Community and Planet PDF.
    Accessing the 'identity' object is more complex. First, all users will need to complete the 'Identity" information for the application's preferences, as only the login name is picked up from the OS. Then each user will need to have an application folder level JavaScirpt installed on their computer to capture this information during the application initialization of Acrobat/Reader
    // Folder level script to create an application level variables for the "identity" objects properties
    var Identity = new Array(); // array for the identity objects elements
    Identity.Corporation = identity.corporation;
    Identity.Email = identity.email;
    Identity.LoginName = identity.loginName;
    Identity.Name = identity.name;
    // or
    var Identity = new Array();
    for (i in identity)
    Identity.i = identity.i;
    You can then access the items in a PDF  by adding the array element name to the Identity array:
    // set a fied's value to the value of:
    this.getField("loginName").value = Identity.LoginName;
    this.getField("name").value = Identity.Name;
    this.getField("by").value = "By: ";
    this.getField("by").value += Identity.Name;
    You can find the necessary JavaScript folders for Acrobat using the following code in Acrobat's JavaScript debugging console:
    app.getPath("app","javascript");
    app.getPath("user","javascript");

  • EXIF, UserComment and UNICODE. Format???

    I am trying to write the image description into the EXIF UserComment tag as UNICODE. Unfortunately, in the TIFF6 and EXIF file format description, there is no specification for the format to use for the UNICODE characters. Is it 2-byte LE, 2-byte BE, UTF-8, UTF-16, ??? Photoshop seems to treat this tag as some 2-byte characters, at least when changing the byte order of the file (for example when reading DNG and storing as TIFF), the bytes of the UserComment tag get swapped too. However, since the tag is of the type "Undefined", byte swapping should not take place. I tried to add little endian, big endian and UTF-8 byte marks, but the text still gets messed up. So, what is the correct format for this tag? Does it help to store the comment as undefined (8 * 0x00 as format identifier) and then use the appropriate byte marks for the text string? A related problem: Why does Photoshop remove the GPS tag when reading a DNG file and then storing as TIFF, but retains the tag when storing as JPEG? Does not make much sense to me...

    What are you using to do this? The EXIF 2.2 file format standard provides for an 8 byte character code string, one of which is for Unicode, namely the ASCII bytes for U, N, I, C, O, D, E, \x0. The EXIF 2.2 standard is dated April 2002, and it simply refers to "the Unicode standard". The latest version of the Unicode standard at that time was 3.2.0, which is dated March 2002. Obviously, no encoding developed after that time would be what EXIF expects.
    After typing that, I did a google search for EXIF+usercomment and came up with a useful posting at http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/digikam-devel/2006-May/005000.html , relating to a tool called exiv, which states:
    >Unicode support for JFIF and EXIF comments:
    >
    >- use UTF8 for JFIF comment
    >- use Unicode (UCS-2) to write JPEG UserComment,
    > support charset specification when reading the UserComment
    > - add convertCommentValue method to DMetaData
    >
    >Using UTF8 for JFIF is simple and easy and should work.
    >The UCS-2 support needs testing (and a decision if we
    >always want to write Unicode, or a way to find out when we need to
    >and when we can as well write ASCII)
    So maybe use UCS-2 (UTF-16)?

    Here's the query:

    Now, this query will not work by running straight through SQL worksheet in either the 8.0.5 or 9.2.03 regions. So I guess it has something to do with Cold Fusion- which I know nothing about. Has anyone had any experience using Cold Fusion to issue a query? What would be the cause of the difference between the Oracle versions? That is the only thing that changed.
    Thanks for any input.
