Precompilation of JSPs

Hi all....
          we have a problem regarding the precompilation of the JSP pages. In
          development mode we don't want the jsps top get precompiled when the
          Server is restarted or app is redeployed as it takes a lot of time to
          see a minor change working.
          For this we have modified our weblogic.xml file in the WAR
          descriptors as:
          <jsp-descriptor>
          <jsp-param>
          <param-name>precompile</param-name>
          <param-value>false</param-value>
          </jsp-param>
          </jsp-descriptor>
          but for some reason it does not seem to work..
          any pointers to correct it...????
          thanx
          aseem

I never found a fix for this.
          In the end I just wrote an ant script using basic ant tasks i.e. no weblogic ant tasks - and used the weblogic.xml file to get the server to precompile jsps at deploy time.
          My experience with the weblogic ant tasks has been less than satisfactory.
          Good luck - and let me know if you have any major breakthroughs.

    Ramesh,
              We experienced this sympton as well. In our JSPs, we converted
              <%@ include file="xyz.jsp"%> (static include, source time) to
              <jsp:include page="licensedQuote.jsp"/> (dynamic include, run time)
              and the problem went away.
              We still use static includes at the very start of the JSPs. It seems the problem only occurs when the static include is inside of a tag whose body does JSP evaluation.

Parabéns...Etapa 6) Selecione outro newsgroups e repita o passo 5.

  • Filename case issue in precompilation of JSPs for Windows

    Hello,
              I have determined why my JSP pages have been recompiling
              despite including the corresponding compiled class files in
              my application package.
              It seems as though on Windows, any jsp files that have
              filenames that have upper
              case letters are being recompiled, even if their precompiled pages
              are included in the .war file. JSP files that have filenames that are all
              lower case
              are not recompiled, which is expected behavior.
              The UNIX version of BEA does not seem to have this bug
              related to the case of JSP filenames.
              Could someone from BEA please give us more information
              on this issue and when we can see it fixed?
              Thank you very much,
              Peter Kim
              p.s. I am using Weblogic Server version 7.0.1.0.

    I'm seeing something slightly different here.
              I'm including __MyJsp.class (with the proper case) in my
              packaged .war file, but when a request is made for MyJsp.jsp,
              BEA looks for __myjsp.class instead of __MyJsp.class--
              therefore it recompiles MyJsp.jsp.

  • Precompilation of JSPs for default web application

    Hello,
    Once in a while I need to redeploy my "Default" web application. I would like to have its all JSPs precompiled, so that it was immediatly available after redeployment.
    However, if I try to redeploy my web application (.war file) under, let's say, "DefaultWebApp" root context, using the administration console, with the "Precompile JSPs" option enabled, it does compile all JSPs, but ONLY those deployed under the "DefaultWebApp" root context.
    However, If I access a url like "http://somehost/SomeResource.jsp" (a file that belongs to that default web application"), I can see (due to a pause) that my JSPs have not been compiled under the root context.
    Is there any way to precompile JSPs for my default web applications?
    Sincerely,
    Sergei Batiuk.

  • Weblogic Precompilation of Jsps

    Hi there,
              I'm deploying a project to Weblogic 8.1.2 and I'm trying to use Ant - in conjunction with Weblogic tasks - wldeploy and wlappc - to build and deploy my project for me. And I'm noticing some bizarre behaviour with the weblogic precompilation.
              As part of the build process - all jsps are precompile when assembling into an ear file. However when I deploy the ear - Weblogic Server goes ahead and recompiles the jsps all over again - which the defeats the purpose of compiling them at assembly time.
              The message I get from the server is
                        16-Aug-2004 10:45:53 o'clock BST> <Info> <HTTP> <BEA-

              WebLogic Server.JSP build version: 8.1.2.0WLS build
              version: 8.1.2.0.>
                                            Does anyone know how I can stop this second precompilation?
              Thanks in advance

    I never found a fix for this.
              In the end I just wrote an ant script using basic ant tasks i.e. no weblogic ant tasks - and used the weblogic.xml file to get the server to precompile jsps at deploy time.
              My experience with the weblogic ant tasks has been less than satisfactory.

  • Precompiling a JSP that uses a bean

    Hi,
              I am facing a problem when I startup Weblogic with precompiling ON.
              I have a JSP that uses a bean. When the JSP is being compiled, Weblogic is
              actually trying to instantiate the bean and is executing code in the
              constructor of the bean !
              When I use the weblogic.jspc compiler to compile the JSP, no such thing
              happens.
              So this happens only when I precompile such a JSP when starting up Weblogic
              server.
              - Why does weblogic attempt to instantiat the bean ?
              - Is there any way to tell weblogic "dont instantiate this bean now" ?
              Also, the compiler is unable to find a class that is required by the bean. However, this class is there in the /applications/..../WEB-INF/lib in a JAR file. So why is the class not being found ?
              Thanks,
              Jay

    Do a stack trace from the constructor to determine who is calling it, and
              maybe why ...

              However, this class is there in the /applications/..../WEB-INF/lib in a JAR

  • Precompile the JSP file

    I try to use the weblogic.jspc to precompile all the jsp file to :
              DefaultWebApp_myserver\WEB-INF\_tmp_war_myserver_myserver_DefaultWebApp_myse
              rver\jsp_servlet
              But when I visit the JSP page from browser, it seem like the weblogic
              compile it again
              Any help??

    Hi, David:
    Since this is 9.0.4, I would suggest you that you try the following,
    . create directories build, build/ear, build/ear/app
    . extract the ear to build/ear so that you have build/ear/app.war
    . cd build/ear/app and extract you app.war to build/ear/app
    . mkdir -p WEB-INF/classes
    . ojspc -srcdir WEB-INF/classes -dir WEB-INF/classes yourOtherOptions <list_of_your_jsp_files>
    . now you can repackage ear. As long as the jsp page implementation classes are in WEB-INF/classes or packaged in a jar under WEB-INF/lib, jsp engine will be able to use them if the main_mode is set to justrun in web.xml of the war file or the global-web-application.xml of oc4j installation.
    The main point here is to use the expanded structure to see if that will solve your problem. Other options includes upgrading to 9.0.4.2 (is 9.0.4.3 out?) or even 10.1.3, filing an oracle support ticket. Lastly, you may contact me directly.

  • Precompilation of jsp

              When I set my web application to have its jsp's precompiled when the server starts,
              the web application does not deploy because a jsp failed to compile. What do I
              need to do to tell the compiler to keep going, so that the web app can still be
              deployed? I am using the JSP Descriptor GUI from the WL Console.

              Set the -k option on the jsp compiler.
              -k
              When compiling multiple JSPs with with a single command, the compiler continues
              compiling even if one or more of the JSPs failed to compile.

  • JSP precompilation and my .java files compilation issues /  building WAR file using ANT

    Hello.
    I am new to working with WAR files and the whole process of it. A little
    background on what we are using. We are using, WLS 6.1 SP3. I am using the
    ant.bat that is supplied in the bin directory of the WLS install.
    I am trying to work with ANT and getting it to build the file. I am making
    progress, but at a point where I am having trouble getting my java code
    files to compile using ant. I am having one issue and looking to do one
    other item.
    1) I would like to precompile the JSPs if possible prior to putting into the
    WAR file. Not sure if this is done or not, but there was a utility when I
    was working with ibm's app server that gave us the ability to do a batch
    complile. Was thinking that maybe a similair concept is possibly here.
    2) Having issue getting ant to compile code properly. In the compile
    section of the build.xml file for ant, I tell it where the source files are,
    and the destionation folder for the compiled class files. I then try to set
    the classpath so that it finds the .jar files that are necessary for my
    source files to complile. But, it won't find them. And not sure how come.
    I may be going about this all wrong, but dont know. Here is the compile
    section of the build.xml I am using:
    <target name="compile" depends="prepare">
    <javac srcdir="classes" destdir="${deploy.home}/WEB-INF/classes"
    classpath="$(lib.home)"
    debug="on" optimize="on" deprecation="off"/>
    </target>
    One note, I've tried many different items in the classpath line, which
    don't work. if I do *.jar it fails at complie time, invalid argument. As
    well as if I use *.* and so on. if I list the explicit file names, it still
    doesn't seem to find them.
    I was wondering if anyone could help, if you need anymore information let me
    know, I can send the entire build.xml if necessary. I may be missing
    items, seeing that this is my first try at using ANT.
    Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance. Hopefully not sounding too
    off the wall. Hopefully get some clarification and understanding.
    Thank you.
    Kevin.

    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs70/jsp/reference.html#57794
    or just set the precompile flag in weblogic.xml
    You can configure WebLogic Server to precompile your JSPs when a Web
    Application is deployed or re-deployed or when WebLogic Server starts up
    by setting the precompile parameter to true in the <jsp-descriptor>
    element of the weblogic.xml deployment descriptor.

    maybe because you are not using curly braces there on lib.home??
    if you do it the way above, you would have to list all your jars
    classpath="$(lib.home)\lib1.jar:$(lib.home)\lib2.jar"
    or you can nest
    <javac srcdir="classes" destdir="${deploy.home}/WEB-INF/classes"
    debug="on" optimize="on" deprecation="off">
         <classpath>
              <fileset dir="${lib.home}" includes="*.jar" />

  • Precompiled JSP Compatibility Problem

    I am a developer in the Cross Applications Unlimited group. We are experiencing a problem with precompiled jsps in a ADF web application that we have developed. Any help that you can provide with this problem would be much appreciated. Neither Oracle forums nor the internet have yielded any leads to us so far. Here are the specifics of our problem.
    In our application, we precompile our JSPs when the EAR is built. The application was initially developed in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 and worked without problems when deployed to OAS 10.1.3.2. However, our application server MTR recently shifted to OAS 10.1.3.3. We migrated our workspace and projects to JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 and rebuilt our EAR file in JDeveloper 10.1.3.3. We are getting "500 Internal Server Errors" when this new ear file is deployed to OAS 10.1.3.3. The error does not always manifest when running the application. We can login and navigate to JSPs linked directly from our navigation menu (our first level pages). However, in these first level pages are buttons that navigate to second level pages. The error is being seen whenever we try to access one of these second level pages. Everything else about the application works fine. When we don't precompile our JSPs and deploy, the application works fine.
    This is the error we find reported in our application logs...

  • Precompile JSP's in Weblogic 5.1/SP6

              Hello,
              How do you get the precomplilation of JSP's to work in 5.1? I have
              seen some emails on this mailing list about how to precompile the
              JSP's in 6.0 but I would like to know how to do it in 5.1. looking
              at the documentation here: http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/classdocs/API_jsp.html#register
              In the weblogic properties file we have them set as follows:
              weblogic.httpd.documentRoot=htdocs/
              # WEBLOGIC JSP PROPERTIES
              # Sets up automatic page compilation for JSP. Adjust init argsfor
              # directory locations and uncomment to use.
              weblogic.httpd.register.*.jsp=weblogic.servlet.JSPServlet
              weblogic.httpd.initArgs.*.jsp=\
              pageCheckSeconds=1,\
              keepgenerated=true,\
              compileCommand=d:/jdk1.2.2/bin/javac.exe,\
              workingDir=D:/Mediaprise/mpsite/WebLogicServer,\
              verbose=true
              that should be picking up any JSP's underneath the document root
              folder (htdocs, in this case) and precompile them to the working
              dir. now we have JSP's in the htdocs folder and a whole stucture
              of JSP's underneath the htdocs folder in a folder called JSP with
              it's own file and directory structure. The weblogic.log file shows
              that the above properties are being set correctly on startup but
              no precompilation seems to be happening to the working dir. any
              ideas on how to make this work in 5.1??
              I am working on Weblogic 5.1 with SP6.
              Thanks,
              Gagan

    In WebLogic 6.0 register each jsp in the web.xml with a <servlet-name>, <jsp-file>
              and <load-on-startup>. For example:
              <web-app>
              <servlet>
              <servlet-name></servlet-name>
              <jsp-file></jsp-file>
              <load-on-startup></load-on-startup>
              </servlet>
              <servlet-mapping>
              <servlet-name></servlet-name>
              <url-pattern></url-pattern>
              </servlet-mapping>
              </web-app>
              The optional value of load-on-startup element must be a positive integer indicating
              the order in which the servlet should be loaded.
              In WebLogic 6.1 set the precompile parameter in weblogic.xml.
              <jsp-descriptor>
              <jsp-param>
              <param-name>
              precompile
              </param-name>
              <param-value>
              true
              </param-value>
              </jsp-param>
              </jsp-descriptor>

  • Precompiling jsp's in weblogic

    Hi ,
    I want to precompile my jsp's when I start the server. I don't want wait for long time when the page start's loading. Can we do this in weblogic.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Anitha

    hi anitha,
    yes you can do that in Weblogic by setting up the precompile parameter for <jsp-descriptor> element to be true in weblogic.xml descriptor file when the web application gets deployed or re-deployed !!

  • JSP Precompilation Issue:

    I'm trying to precompile my JSPs so that the .class files can be included along with the WAR.
    For this pre-compilation , i'm using the jspc ANT task.
    I have the following issues:
    1) A number of JSPs have HTML pages included in them.
         Say my JSPs are in a folder : jsp
         and HTMLs in a folder :html
         The JSPs include the HTML with this TAG :
              <%@ include file="//html/myHtml.html" %>
         When i try to run the jspc task for the first time, I get an exception indicating that //html/myHtml.html has not been found.
         I do not make any changes, but run the ant task again, The JSPs are convered to Java files.
         I'm not able to figure out what happens the first time i run the ant task
    2) Once i run the jspc task, i run the javac task to compile the JSP converted JAVA files.
    Since a lot my JSPs have other JSPs included in them, i get several compilation errors caused by the included JSPs
    Should the JSPs be compiled in the order that they are included in the JSPs?
    3) I'm using Tomcat 4.1. to host the web appln. What are the modifications i need to make to use pre-compiled JSPs in the WAR file?

    Simply change the file extent on the JSPs that are only included. The extent ".jspf" (JSP fragment) is a reasonable convention.
