Precompiled JSP files?

Hi,
I have precompiled my JSPs using the pre-compile option in the browser.(For
eg http://localhost:8080/Myapp/addCustomer.jsp?pre-compile)
I get the java and class files for each of the JSPs. These files are placed
in the work folder of Tomcat(ie
\jakarta-tomcat-5.0.16\work\Catalina\localhost\Myapp\org\apache\jsp).
If I want to deploy the web application as a WAR file (without the JSPs),
where should I place the .class files of the JSPs?
I have made entries in web.xml as shown below for each of the JSP files .
But , I get a 404 error when I try to access the
JSP(http://localhost:8080/Myapp/addCustomer.jsp).
<servlet>
<servlet-name>addCustomer_jsp</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>/Myapp/addCustomer_jsp</servlet-class>
</servlet>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>addCustomer_jsp</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/Myapp/addCustomer.jsp</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
It is not a must that I deploy it as a WAR file. But, where should I place
the precompiled JSPs so that I can access them from a browser? I am working
on Tomcat 5.
Thanks in advance.

Copy Jsps to install_dir/webapps/ROOT and access them with http://localhost/filename

    3. Select Rebuild to build all jsp files or Make to rebuilt only changed files

  • Precompile the JSP file

    I try to use the weblogic.jspc to precompile all the jsp file to :
              DefaultWebApp_myserver\WEB-INF\_tmp_war_myserver_myserver_DefaultWebApp_myse

    Hi, David:
    Since this is 9.0.4, I would suggest you that you try the following,
    . create directories build, build/ear, build/ear/app
    . extract the ear to build/ear so that you have build/ear/app.war
    . cd build/ear/app and extract you app.war to build/ear/app
    . mkdir -p WEB-INF/classes
    . ojspc -srcdir WEB-INF/classes -dir WEB-INF/classes yourOtherOptions <list_of_your_jsp_files>
    . now you can repackage ear. As long as the jsp page implementation classes are in WEB-INF/classes or packaged in a jar under WEB-INF/lib, jsp engine will be able to use them if the main_mode is set to justrun in web.xml of the war file or the global-web-application.xml of oc4j installation.
    The main point here is to use the expanded structure to see if that will solve your problem. Other options includes upgrading to 9.0.4.2 (is 9.0.4.3 out?) or even 10.1.3, filing an oracle support ticket. Lastly, you may contact me directly.

  • Unable to load the '.jsp' file

    Hi all,
              We use Weblogic 8.1 sp3 and are devloping a struts based application.
              I have deployed my 'ear' file (containing a '.war' and a '.jar' file). We use struts. Our '.war' file, contains the pre-compiled 'jsp' classes (we have changed our web.xml to indicate that we are using pre-compiled jsps. I can show my web.xml file if you need).
              When I click on my 'submit' button, I see that my action class has been invoked and it's spitting out messages to the stdout. Everything looks fine. But, when it is trying to load the '.jsp', I get the following error.

  • Precompiled JSP not taken in account by Weblogic 10.3.1

    Hi
    My JSPs are properly precompiled in my ear, and well taken in account by weblogic when I work with my local environment. But if I upload my ear on the Unix server, they're not taken in account anymore. Weblogic compiles them in real time, that causes a display time really long for each page.
    The precompiled JSP are present in the folder WEB-INF/classes/jsp_servlet/_jsp , inside the file app-web.war, itself included in the ear.
    Once the ear is deployed on the server, I find my precompiled JSP at 2 places :
    - <domain>/servers/<server>/tmp/_WL_user/<ear_name>/rdi76c/war/WEB-INF/lib/_wl_cls_gen.jar
    then in jsp_servlet/_jsp
    - <domain>/servers/<server>/tmp/_WL_user/<ear_name>/m8l8j8/app-web.war
    then in WEB-INF\classes\jsp_servlet\_jsp\
    At the execution time, Weblogic should be able to find the precompiled JSP at that 2 places. However, it recompiles the JSPs and places them here :
    - <domain>/servers/<server>/tmp/_WL_user/<ear_name>/rdi76c/jsp_servlet/_jsp
    I have already checked the dates. The dates written in the generated .java files match the system dates of the corresponding JSP files. It could have been an explanation, but it's not.
    Do you have any idea ?

    but encounter version mismatching error... It indicated that it only support 10.3.0... It's hard to tell based on your description, but I am going to guess that you are not selecting the right version of WLS runtime in the new runtime wizard. WLS 10.3.1 is also known as WLS 11gR1. Make sure that you look for it in Oracle rather than BEA category.

    Hi,
    If I create a method via the binding editor in JDev it creates a managed bean method with a void return type as default.
    eg.
        public void cmdlink_actionListener(ActionEvent actionEvent) {
            // Add event code here...
        }could it have anything to do with the two OJSPC warnings? jsf-impl.jar should be included in your war file. I haven't seen this warning when OJSPC is compiling.

  • How to send a JSP file in a MAU patch

    Hi friends,
    We need to send a patch for enhancement, which contains classes and a JSP file also.  So, we know how to send class files, but we are not aware of how to send a JSP file in the patch.
    Please help us if anybody know this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
    <b>Is is possible to update this jar file or to change some mappings?</b>--->I think you can not update the application.jar file.
    Let me know one thing, while you creating war file from NWDS/Eclipse did you compile JSP pages as Precompiled class files. If you did that, your application will not point JSP pages that you applied as patches.
    Is your application is in production phase? If yes, my first suggestion is..If you have updated application.jar file, apply the application.jar file as patch.
    If your application is not in production phase....best option is, again create a war file as pre-compiled jsp pages, and make changes in NWDS that the compiled class files should loaded as application.jar file. Then you can apply patches easily.
    Hope this helps you..

  • Help running a simple jsp file,Tomcat 5.0.16

    Hi,
    This question may be addressed many many times,but do reply.
    I have a Win xp operating system
    Installed Tomcat 5.0.16 in it.
    Next the directory structure

    in the WEB-INF,there is the web.xml,then sourcefiles<dir> and the lib directory which is empty.
    Now the servlet files work fine.........
    I have placed my MyJsp.jsp file in the above mentioned ROOT directory.
    I have not done any thing with the <TOMCAT_HOME>/conf/server.xml file
    and the web.xml which I have written.
    When I give the following URI
    http://localhost:8080/sampleapp/MyJsp.jsp,
    I get the HTTP status 404- /MyJsp.jsp

    Hoping that I have defined the problem specifically.Kindly show some light on this.
    Thanks
    AS

    Nevermind. I just found the answer. For the record, there are two ways in getting JSPs to work:
    1. Precompiling the JSPs and modifying your webapp's web.xml file with the XML fragment generated in YourWebApp/web/WEB-INF/generated_web.xml;
    2. Not precompiling the JSPs, but simply letting tomcat compile it on the fly on first access.
    PRECOMPILATION METHOD
    Go to http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-5.0-doc/jasper-howto.html. Copy-and-paste the ant script under the section "Web Application Compilation" into a file called compile.xml. For me, I save it in ~/development/compile.xml. Then compile the JSPs using the command (all in a single line):
    $ANT_HOME/ant -file <PATH_TO_COMPILE.XML> -Dtomcat.home=<$TOMCAT_HOME> -Dwebapp.path=<$WEBAPP_PATH>
    In my case, I cd into the directory where my app resides:
    cd ~/development/HelloWorld
    and then I type:
    ant -file ~/development/compile.xml -Dtomcat.home=/var/tomcat5 -Dwebapp.path=.
    (Note the trailing dot since my current directory is my webapp's directory itself. Also, in my case, my shell's PATH contains the path to the ant executable, so I just type 'ant' directly.)
    Open the file ~/development/HelloWorld/web/WEB-INF/generated_web.xml and follow the instructions in that auto-generated file, which is: "Place this fragment in the web.xml before all icon, display-name, description, distributable, and context-param elements."
    The web.xml referred to above is YOUR web.xml. In my case, it is the one in ~/development/HelloWorld/web/WEB-INF/web.xml
    When ready to deploy, type:
    ant dist
    as usual. Deploy the .war file in the dist directory as you normally would. In my case, I do:
    rm -rf $CATALINA_HOME/webapps/hello* (removes my HelloWorld webapp directory and its war file)
    cp ~/development/HelloWorld/dist/hello.war $CATALINA_HOME/webapps
    and wait for tomcat to unravel the war file. I can then access the JSP page based on whatever the generated_web.xml had specified. In my case, it would be http://localhost:8080/hello/sample.jsp
    NON-PRECOMPILATION METHOD
    Copy tools.jar from the Java JDK into tomcat's common/lib. (I found this only in the error message in tomcat's log file!! Didn't find it anywhere else!!). Do this one time only, then restart tomcat:
    cp $JAVA_HOME/lib/tools.jar $CATALINA_HOME/common/lib
    Restart tomcat.
    Deploy your webapp as usual which will include your JSP files stored under your webapp's 'web' directory. No precompilation of JSPs is required. Then access your JSP pages such as http://localhost:8080/HelloWorld/my-jsp-page.jsp and tomcat will compile it on the fly on first access. The disadvantage is that there will be a slight delay on first access.
    [Note:  I am putting all this down for the record, because it took me MANY HOURS to figure all this out as the info on how to do this is not found clearly in one place!!  Hope this helps others.]
    My next step is to incorporate the contents of compile.xml as mentioned above, into my regular build.xml file.

  • Precompiled JSP Compatibility Problem

    I am a developer in the Cross Applications Unlimited group. We are experiencing a problem with precompiled jsps in a ADF web application that we have developed. Any help that you can provide with this problem would be much appreciated. Neither Oracle forums nor the internet have yielded any leads to us so far. Here are the specifics of our problem.
    In our application, we precompile our JSPs when the EAR is built. The application was initially developed in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 and worked without problems when deployed to OAS 10.1.3.2. However, our application server MTR recently shifted to OAS 10.1.3.3. We migrated our workspace and projects to JDeveloper 10.1.3.3 and rebuilt our EAR file in JDeveloper 10.1.3.3. We are getting "500 Internal Server Errors" when this new ear file is deployed to OAS 10.1.3.3. The error does not always manifest when running the application. We can login and navigate to JSPs linked directly from our navigation menu (our first level pages). However, in these first level pages are buttons that navigate to second level pages. The error is being seen whenever we try to access one of these second level pages. Everything else about the application works fine. When we don't precompile our JSPs and deploy, the application works fine.
    This is the error we find reported in our application logs...

  • Precompile JSP's in Weblogic 5.1/SP6

              Hello,
              How do you get the precomplilation of JSP's to work in 5.1? I have
              seen some emails on this mailing list about how to precompile the
              JSP's in 6.0 but I would like to know how to do it in 5.1. looking
              at the documentation here: http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/classdocs/API_jsp.html#register
              In the weblogic properties file we have them set as follows:
              weblogic.httpd.documentRoot=htdocs/
              # WEBLOGIC JSP PROPERTIES
              # Sets up automatic page compilation for JSP. Adjust init argsfor
              # directory locations and uncomment to use.
              weblogic.httpd.register.*.jsp=weblogic.servlet.JSPServlet
              weblogic.httpd.initArgs.*.jsp=\
              pageCheckSeconds=1,\
              keepgenerated=true,\
              compileCommand=d:/jdk1.2.2/bin/javac.exe,\
              workingDir=D:/Mediaprise/mpsite/WebLogicServer,\
              verbose=true
              that should be picking up any JSP's underneath the document root
              folder (htdocs, in this case) and precompile them to the working
              dir. now we have JSP's in the htdocs folder and a whole stucture
              of JSP's underneath the htdocs folder in a folder called JSP with
              it's own file and directory structure. The weblogic.log file shows
              that the above properties are being set correctly on startup but
              no precompilation seems to be happening to the working dir. any
              ideas on how to make this work in 5.1??
              I am working on Weblogic 5.1 with SP6.
              Thanks,
              Gagan

    In WebLogic 6.0 register each jsp in the web.xml with a <servlet-name>, <jsp-file>
              and <load-on-startup>. For example:
              <web-app>
              <servlet>
              <servlet-name></servlet-name>
              <jsp-file></jsp-file>
              <load-on-startup></load-on-startup>
              </servlet>
              <servlet-mapping>
              <servlet-name></servlet-name>
              <url-pattern></url-pattern>
              </servlet-mapping>
              </web-app>
              The optional value of load-on-startup element must be a positive integer indicating
              the order in which the servlet should be loaded.
              In WebLogic 6.1 set the precompile parameter in weblogic.xml.
              <jsp-descriptor>
              <jsp-param>
              <param-name>
              precompile
              </param-name>
              <param-value>
              true
              </param-value>
              </jsp-param>
              </jsp-descriptor>

  • Precompiling JSPs

    Hi,
    I am trying to precompile a complete webapp containing about a hundred pages to be run isinde Tomcat 4.1. I was able to translate the pages with JSPC like this:
    jspc.bat -d c:/temp/jspcout -webapp c:/dev/webapps/myapp"
    Then I try to compile the resulting java files using javac. The problem is that all java source files produced by jspc have the same package name: org.apache.jsp . Javac then puts all resulting class files in a directory structure respecting the package name: org/apache/jsp .
    Compilation ends when Javac complains that there are duplicate classes, that is, JSP pages with the same name (ex: index.jsp), but in different directories will produce duplicate classes (index_jsp.class) in the same ouput directory.
    Normally with Tomcat, java and class files go together in a directory under tomcat/work that reflects the original directory structure of the JSP pages, not the package structure.
    How can I use javac to compile java files that are NOT under a directory structure that reflects their package and have the output classes created in the same directory as the corresponding java file?
    Thank you,
    Jean-Robert Haddad

    The important thing to remember with this is that you are no longer deploying JSPs to be run through the compiler with your web application; you're precompiling them.
    For example, there won't be any .jsp files in your webapp (.war file). Only servlets will be deployed. That means that you need to have servlet mappings that will let you use the URL syntax you are used to, like mapping /billingInfo.jsp to a servlet org.apache.jsp.billingInfo_jsp.class.
    There are options for generating a web.xml file and a partial web.xml file that contain servlet mappings like the following.
    <servlet>
    <servlet-name>yourjsp_jsp</servlet-name>
    <servlet-class>org.apache.jsp</servlet-class>
    </servlet>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>yourjsp_jsp</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>yourjsp.jsp</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    So, run JSPC with the result going into the proper directory (/WEB-INF/classes/org/apache/jsp) or a JAR file. Then, using either the webinc or webxml options, generate the necessary mappings. If needed incorporate the mappings into your application's web.xml.
    If merging the generated mappings into your web.xml file is too complicated, just carefully modify your web.xml file to incorporate the mappings (carefully because you no longer are doing it "on-the-fly" and will have to be concious of each an every jsp).
    One problem that you may encounter with merging the files together is that order of XML elements is important. You can't have a web.xml file with elements servlet/servlet-mapping/servlet/servlet-mapping/taglib. You need servlet/servlet/servlet-mapping/servlet-mapping/taglib.
    I hope this makes sense.

  • Problem compiling jsp file

    I am using ant to precompile my jsp files which contains struts taglibs but it is giving an error

    [jasperc] at org.apache.jasper.JspC.main(JspC.java:770)
    what i need to do to come out of this??

    You can load the JSP in the browser and add a jsp_precompile parameter, something like:
    http://yourwebsite.com/yourwebpage.jsp?jsp_precompile
    Any mistakes will end up being displayed in the browser, but the JSP will never get executed should it contain no programming mistakes.

  • Precompiling JSPs changes directory name

    I am using the weblogic.appc compiler to precompile JSPs and I noticed that if my source folder name contains a hyphen, eg. my-test, after precompilation the class files are stored under \WEB-INF\classes\jsp_servlet\_my_45_test\ directory.
              The "-" in the name is substituted by its ASCII value. Is there a way to stop this from happening other than choosing a different name for the source folder?
              Thanks

    I have created a file browse object on a page. After filling several text boxes and selecting a file the page writes a row into a table
    in the database.
    When a file is selected with the file browse the name looks like:
    C:\OracleApex\PDM-BOM comparison app\datafiles\B-15680-49_D_SAP.CSV
    However in the database the name appears as:
    F1531709975/B-15680-49_D_SAP.CSV
    What happened to the directory name? This causes problems because I need to use the directory and file name in a utl_file
    utility.<tt>F1531709975</tt> is produced to provide a unique file identifier in the <tt>apex_application_files</tt> view, and is the session state value of the file browse control that uploaded the file. The actual filename is available in the <tt>filename</tt> column.
    As has been noted in many previous threads on this topic: For security/privacy reasons recent versions of browsers by default do not send local file path information from File Browse items to the server, nor expose the file path in the control's JavaScript methods. Firefox, Safari and Chrome only provide the filename. IE6 & IE7 still yield the path in Windows format. IE8+ and Opera have adopted an irritating approach of replacing the path with a wholly imaginary "C:\fakepath\"&mdash;and this monstrosity has sadly had to be enshrined in the HTML5 spec...
    Changing IE's security config setting "Include local directory path when uploading files" enables the path to be exposed in IE, but unless you're working in an intranet environment where: IE is the only browser used; it's possible to make remote changes to this setting on every desktop; and this won't break/expose anything else, then trying to achieve this is pointless.

  • Precompiling JSPs Outside Weblogic Home Directory

    Using Weblogic Server 9.2. Was able to precompile JSPs in a war file with weblogic.appc at the command line with only the weblogic.jar inside the Weblogic installation directory in my classpath. I then translated this into an Ant task, and because the script may need to run on a box that does not have Weblogic installed, copied weblogic.jar to my build area and included that one in my classpath. It immediately began throwing NoClassDefFound exceptions. Discovered the "Class-Path" list of additional jars in the MANIFEST inside weblogic.jar, searched these jars and found all of the missing classes--except for the last one. The missing class is org/apache/bcelx/classfile/ClassParser, and the error I'm getting is "WARNING: unable to get an input stream for jar:file:D:\APPS\Java\jdk1.5.0_13\jre\lib\rt.jar!" followed by java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError. The error occurs in javelin.java.JavaClassFile.getParseTree() at line 178. There is a BCEL Apache project, but they have no mention of BCELX on their website. Anyone know where I can find this class, or source code for javelin.java.JavaClassFile?

    We've got quite a lot of jsps in our application. It seems the memory options are being ignored and it seems other people have experienced the same problem with the memory options being ignored when using wlappc and have switched to weblogic.appc.
    When I switch to weblogic.appc I don't get the out of memory issue, though of course I'm still getting the initial stack trace reported. Any other ideas?
