Preload record in form

Can I preload a record in a form, e.g. I select the record in a list and I get the selected record in the form with the Update/Delete button available. (I like the Pass Parameter between Portlets sample from this forum by Jerry Silver, for displaying reports. I would have the same behavior with a report on the left and a form on the right of my page, instead of another report, is it possible).

Two ways I've found.
Pass the form the rowid of the record works fine (retrieves the row you want) or more intelligently, create a PL/SQL procedure which identifies the row in question (from a unique key or some other identifier) then call the form using its call interface.

Dreamweaver CS4 - Record Insertion Form js error

I'm dreamweaver cs4 and started using the Record Insertion form, I was mainly experimenting with it and just seeing what it could do.
However when I get to the wizard i have to wait a few seconds for it to connect to the database and then I get an error message that says:

I was just wondering if this was a common problem, or I've messed something up either in Dreamweaver, or in the SQL database that I'm using.
I've also noticed that its the same for Update and Delete Records Wizards aswell.

Problem with a primary key when creating a new record in Forms

My table has a field - MDD_KEY - that is a primary key. It is updated from a sequence with a before-insert database trigger. I know this works properly as the primary key was accurately populated when I inserted 1433 records.
In Forms 6, I have a form based on that table. I have set the mdd_key as a hidden field because I assume it will be entered by the before-insert trigger. However, when I enter data into the table, and then try to save it, I get a FRM-40202: Field must be entered. - followed by - FRM-40222: Disabled item MDD_KEY failed validation.
If I set DATA Required to no, when I try to save I get an FRM-40600: Record has already been inserted - but no such record exists in the database. I know this record is unique and does NOT exist because I deliberately made it up.
In the property palatte, the attributes of the field are:

I assume that my problem is that with a new record, the form wants to see the MDD_KEY populated before it saves - but that isn't going to happen until the before insert trigger fires in the database. I assume I have to populate that field within forms, but how do I do that without messing up the database trigger/sequence? I will have to load more data directly into the database - so I need the database trigger in place.
I have not used primary keys before so I am more than a little bit confused about how and when it should be populated when a new record is created in Forms.
Any help would be appreciated as I cannot enter new data into my form (works well with existing data).

Record Insertion Form Wizard, page not displaying

I used the "Record Insertion Form Wizard" in Dreamweaver 8 to
build the following code. Problem is that when I upload this to my

validateRow() of your XXVORowImpl is equivalent of When-Validate-Record of forms.
This method calls validateEntity() of your XXEOImpl
This method is generally invoked on form submits (POST Requests)

SQL syntax error when creating record insertion form

Good day,
I was hoping someone could help me. I am trying to create a record insertion form on a website to insert data into a database table. When attempting to create the form, I am getting the following error:

Not sure what is going on. I am running windows 8 and DW cs5 w/ MYSQL. I am testing on a local server prior to pushing to the remote server.

Dw cs5 BUG: record insertion Form

TO RECREATE:
When dreamweaver CS5 is connected to Coldfusion 8 and MySql server, And the mySql table field contains allow "NULL" (that is allows NULL)
the "Record Insertion Form" generates incorrect code. The varchar(50) does not work -- it incorrectly generates cfqueryparam(..."cf_sql_clob")   Hopefully this will help some one else.

MX 2004 was always a bit "gummy" on this. Instead of using the DW wizard, I downloaded a free version of Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition. I use that for all table Inserts, Updates,etc.   This accesses the tables directly on the server. Nothing needs to be synced, put, gotten or whatever. Use DW for Form and UI creation and making prebuilt queries.

Where is the Record Update Form Wizard in DWCC?

Trying to follow online help but it doesn't relate to DWCC. A tutorial I found for CS6 suggests that it's in Insert > Data Objects > Update Record > Record Update Form Wizard but in DWCC there is no "Data Objects" option in the Insert menu.
By the way, I'm looking for the wizard not the straight Update behaviour which I'm aware is in the Server Behaviours panel.

EDIT: Just spoke to Adobe "support" by chat about this and they were absolutely useless. The directed me to the article that I've highlighted above as being for CS6, which isn't helpful because "Data Objects" isn't in the Insert menu in DWCC, and when I pointed that out they gave me this link to try: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/
Seriously? Is this the best I can hope for from Adobe support? It was clear that the operative was just doing Google searches for the answers as opposed to actually knowing the software that they represent. Really disappointing support.

"Database functionality was removed from DWCC." - I use database functionality a lot so this is a real let down. Why has it been removed when it seems so integral to a lot of modern websites and web applications?
I've got the Legacy Extension, or Depracated_ServersBehaviours panel extension, but that does not bring back the Record Update Form Wizard.
Tutorials as far as CS6 reference the Record Update Form Wizard but I'm guessing that it has just been completely dropped in DWCC - not that anyone from Adobe know that one way or another. The official "support" I received earlier was a complete joke (some guy doing Google searches whilst saying - "I'm just verifying your account").
I'm quite handy with Google myself so maybe there's an opportunity for me to move into a career as an Adobe support technician.
I'll have to find a third party extension then I guess. Thanks for the advice.

Record Insertion Form Wizard Help required

I am having trouble getting my insertion form to save the

Restricting creation of new records using forms personalization

Hi,
I have a requirement for which I have to restrict he user from creating a record in the Supplier Master form if the suppliier type is 'Affiliate Supplier'.
I have done the following setups

Thi is working good on one instance but when I moved it to another instance
when I query the form and try to navigate to the bank accounts tab of the form which is based on a differnt block i.e VNDR_USES block, this trigger fires there also and stops the processing.
Any suggestions on this would be higly appriciated.

How do you Delete a Record using Form with submit button?

Hi,
The table REGISTRATION has two feilds, FULL_NAME and USER_GROUP. I created a form that has a drop down
of all the FULL_NAME values that allows the user to select the record that they want to delete. I got the drop down to work and
created the Delete Record behavior, I just can't get the submit button to send the form data and cause the delete to happen.
I have created other pages that update records in this way, but for some reason, I can't get delete to work.
Any Ideas?

Ps     Anyone know why this site locks up in I.E. on some PC's? My Company PC is locked down and they won't investigate. My laptop works but says error on page. I have the latest updates and JAVA ...

The name of your form control is "select".

The name of your form field in your SQL is full_name

You probably really want these names to match!
P.S.
Is your name field really a "clob" data type? Just how long are these names anyway.

Display multiple records in forms 6i

hi every body
will anybody plz tell me how to display multiple records in tabular view of forms 6i.for example say i have a field in a block of a form.and i have to display multiple records in another block in the same form depending upon the value of the mentioned field in the above block.
will anybody help me??

Why are you manually populating your data block when Oracle Forms will do this for you? Oracle Forms is tightly integrated with the Oracle Database. You should just base your Forms data block on the ISSUED table. Then you can filter the records displayed by setting the WHERE Clause property to ID = :BLOCK1.ID or you can dynamically set it with code using the SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY('BLOCK_NAME',DEFAULT_WHERE,'ID = :BLOCK.ID') built-in.
Then, the only code you would need in your Button's When-Button-Pressed trigger would be:

EXECUTE_QUERY;
END;This is the point of InoL's reply. When a Form is based on a table, you can use the "Enter Query" and "Execute Query" built-in features to query and display records.
Sounds like you might be new to Oracle Forms development. If that is the case, you might want to go through a few Forms Tutorials to learn what Forms can do for you. ;) Just search the internet for "Oracle Forms Tutorials" and you will find many!

How to control the space between records in form layout

Hi ,
I need to display mutiple records (15-20) in a form ,
and have choosen FORM layout as I need to display each record in two lines (Can a record be displayed in two lines in TABULAR layout ? ) .
Now There is lot of space between each record and I could not move records closer . How can I control space between reords in FORM layout ?
(While creating Canvas I selected Distance bwteen records = 0 )

Asha,
no in tabular layout there is no way to display a record on two lines. All you can do is to use a stacked canvas and use it to make the table scrollable horizontally
The distance between record setting is a property on the item level. if this is set to 0 (please double check) then all that is loeft is the item bevel. You can set the item bevel property to plain and then work on resizing the items hight until close to acceptable.

Showing Blank Records oracle forms 11g

Deal all..
i am using oracle forms 11g , i created a form by using data block wizard & layout wizard , but when i run the form, the form running successfully in browser, url is ( http://arun-pc:9001/forms/frmservlet), but it is showing empty records.
when i check with sql plus user Scott , i found 10 records in departments table , same user and same table i used in oracle forms.
i don't know what is the problem.. i am new to oracle forms please help me..

I follow the link what u given in above post.. But still i have the same issue.. i am not sure, but i think i have problem with my Environment, bcz in many blogs i read that oracle forms is not recommended to use with 64 bit OS. and second , iam not using developer suite 10g,
currently i am using,
operating system: windows server 2008 r2
weblogic server :- wls1036 (64bit)
JDK :- 7u17 64bit
Oracle forms :- 11g
and database in another host , just i edit tnsnames.ora file in forms directory. the following are my configuration options
