Dw cs5 BUG: record insertion Form

TO RECREATE:
When dreamweaver CS5 is connected to Coldfusion 8 and MySql server, And the mySql table field contains allow "NULL" (that is allows NULL)
the "Record Insertion Form" generates incorrect code. The varchar(50) does not work -- it incorrectly generates cfqueryparam(..."cf_sql_clob")   Hopefully this will help some one else.

MX 2004 was always a bit "gummy" on this.  Instead of using the DW wizard, I downloaded a free version of Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition.  I use that for all table Inserts, Updates,etc.   This accesses the tables directly on the server.  Nothing needs to be synced, put, gotten or whatever.  Use DW for Form and UI creation and making prebuilt queries.
Hope that helps

  • SQL syntax error when creating record insertion form

    Good day,
    I was hoping someone could help me.  I am trying to create a record insertion form on a website to insert data into a database table.  When attempting to create the form, I am getting the following error:
    You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' Organization, Office, Department, Phone, EmailAddress, JobTitle, `OfficialMaili' at line 1
    Not sure what is going on.  I am running windows 8 and DW cs5 w/ MYSQL.  I am testing on a local server prior to pushing to the remote server.
    Thank you for your assistance and please advise any code you would like me to send.

    Here is all the code from this particular webpage.  I apologize, I am too stupid to realize which parts are SQL vice PHP vice HTML:

  • Dreamweaver CS4 - Record Insertion Form js error

    Hi
    I'm dreamweaver cs4 and started using the Record Insertion form, I was mainly experimenting with it and just seeing what it could do.
    However when I get to the wizard i have to wait a few seconds for it to connect to the database and then I get an error message that says:
    While executing onLoad in ServerObject-InsRecPHP.htm, the following Javascript error(s) occured:
    At line 283 of the file "Macintosh HD:Application:Adobe Dreamweaver
    CS4:Configuration:Commands:ServerObject-FormCmnPHP.js":
    invalid array length
    I was just wondering if this was a common problem, or I've messed something up either in Dreamweaver, or in the SQL database that I'm using.
    I've also noticed that its the same for Update and Delete Records Wizards aswell.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Aaron Kennedy

    I see it's your first post. Welcome to the forum.
    A good place to start looking for answers is the Dreamweaver FAQ. You'll find the answer to your question under "Crashes, installation, JavaScript, and unexplained problems".

  • Record Insertion Form Wizard, page not displaying

    I used the "Record Insertion Form Wizard" in Dreamweaver 8 to
    build the following code. Problem is that when I upload this to my
    server and load the page nothing is being displayed. Anybody have
    any thoughts on this?

    Hi yea,
    you need to upload the includes folder that is created when
    using the
    interakt extensions.

    This error is usually associated with a permissions error.

  • Dreamweaver Error when using Record Insertion Form Wizard

    This is the error I'm getting:
    While executing onLoad in ServerObject-InsRecPHP.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occured:
    At line 283 of file "C:Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\Configuration\Commands\ServerObject-FormCmnPHP.js":
    invalid array length
    The strange thing is, that I've added a form using the wizard before and had no problems. But I deleted the form and wanted to create a new one using the wizard again. And that's when I got the error. I tried this on another computer and got the same error.
    Please help, this is very aggrevating.
    *Also, I've done the same thing on multiple computers and get the same error.
    I've tried deleting the file cache in the configuration folder as instructed by an individual who was talking about JavaScript errors and it still doesn't work.

    I know its 4 years later but I just got the same error. after several hours of debugging i found the issue was in my database.
    I have fields named - length, width, height, weight.
    I fixed it by changing them to Lamplength, lampwi   etc
    hope that helps anyone else in the future.

  • How can i display recent update/delete/insert records in form

    Hai !!!!
    i am new for forms,.......any body tell me, how can i display recent no of records updated or no of records deleted or no of records are inserted in a form. these records count are display in display items....give me detail explination......
    Subbu.....

    the easiest way is copy and paste the oracle-forms example from the OU.
    You need form-level-trigger ON-ERROR + ON-MESSAGE, POST-INSERT, POST-UPDATE, POST-DELETE, three global variables and a procedure:
    ON-ERROR
    handle_message( error_code, 'ERROR: ' || ERROR_TYPE || '-' || TO_CHAR(ERROR_CODE) ||': '|| ERROR_TEXT );
    ON-MESSAGE
    handle_message( message_code, MESSAGE_TYPE || '-' || TO_CHAR(MESSAGE_CODE) || ': ' || MESSAGE_TEXT );
    PROCEDURE handle_message( message_number IN NUMBER, message_line IN VARCHAR2 ) IS
    BEGIN
        IF message_number IN ( 40400, 40406, 40407 )
        THEN
          DEFAULT_VALUE( '0', 'GLOBAL.insert' );
          DEFAULT_VALUE( '0', 'GLOBAL.update' );
          DEFAULT_VALUE( '0', 'GLOBAL.delete' );
          MESSAGE('Save Ok: ' ||
            :GLOBAL.insert || ' records inserted, ' ||
           :GLOBAL.update || ' records updated, ' ||
           :GLOBAL.delete || ' records deleted !!!' );
          ERASE('GLOBAL.insert');
          ERASE('GLOBAL.update');
          ERASE('GLOBAL.delete');
        ELSE
             MESSAGE(message_line );
              END IF;
    END;
    POST-INSERT
    DEFAULT_VALUE('0', 'GLOBAL.insert');
    :GLOBAL.insert := TO_CHAR( TO_NUMBER( :GLOBAL.insert ) + 1 );
    POST-UPDATE
    DEFAULT_VALUE('0', 'GLOBAL.update');
    :GLOBAL.update := TO_CHAR( TO_NUMBER( :GLOBAL.update ) + 1 );
    POST-DELETE
    DEFAULT_VALUE('0', 'GLOBAL.delete');
    :GLOBAL.delete := TO_CHAR( TO_NUMBER( :GLOBAL.delete ) + 1 );try it

    I have CS5.5 and Acrobat XI.  My customer gave me a pdf with an example of what they were looking for.  On the bottom of the file, there is a small area which says "Click Here" and allows you to browse and insert an image.  There has to be a way to do it, I just don't know how.

    My table has a field - MDD_KEY - that is a primary key. It is updated from a sequence with a before-insert database trigger. I know this works properly as the primary key was accurately populated when I inserted 1433 records.
    In Forms 6, I have a form based on that table. I have set the mdd_key as a hidden field because I assume it will be entered by the before-insert trigger. However, when I enter data into the table, and then try to save it, I get a FRM-40202: Field must be entered. - followed by - FRM-40222: Disabled item MDD_KEY failed validation.
    If I set DATA Required to no, when I try to save I get an FRM-40600: Record has already been inserted - but no such record exists in the database. I know this record is unique and does NOT exist because I deliberately made it up.
    In the property palatte, the attributes of the field are:
    DATA Data Type Number
    Required Yes
    DATABASE Database Item Yes
    Primary Key Yes
    Query Only No
    Query Allowed Yes
    Query Length 0
    Insert Allowed Yes
    Update Allowed Yes
    Update Only if Null No
    Lock Record No
    I assume that my problem is that with a new record, the form wants to see the MDD_KEY populated before it saves - but that isn't going to happen until the before insert trigger fires in the database. I assume I have to populate that field within forms, but how do I do that without messing up the database trigger/sequence? I will have to load more data directly into the database - so I need the database trigger in place.
    I have not used primary keys before so I am more than a little bit confused about how and when it should be populated when a new record is created in Forms.
    Any help would be appreciated as I cannot enter new data into my form (works well with existing data).
    Thanks
    Glenn

  • Bug in Oracle Forms 9i triggers

    I've found a bug in oracle forms 9i. It happens when you have a select query inside a when-validate-item trigger and in that query you opt to show an alert when the query has encountered an exception...
    When that trigger is fired, the alert will show even if the query returns a record(which means that it does not go through the exception). The solution is to recompile the said trigger.
    Is this bug present in the other versions of Oracle forms?
    Is there a patch for this bug?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I've consulted with some of my colleagues who have been using Oracle forms for more than 5 years now, and they said that the bug seems to randomly appears...The code works fine in the local environemnt (forms builder) and in the AS itself (compiled in Unix) but after sometime, the bug appears and they just compiled the trigger where the code of the alert is in...
    Is there any logical explanation of why compiling a trigger (without changing any code) solves this problem?

  • CS3 Insertion Form Wizard double entries

  • CS5 Update Record behaior deletes the record

    Hello
    I am having an issue that I just cant seem to understand or resolve.
    I am using the CS5 Update Record Server Bahavior to update the user table for a website, but instead if updating the record, it deletes the entire record.
    I look at the SQL and it is definately an Update, so I dont see how it deleting the entire record.
    What I did:
    Passed in record ID through querystring to get the filtered recordset
    Created update form for dynamic data (the corrent data is filling form from recoredset)
    Created hidden field to hold ID
    Clicked the Update Record Server Behavior and matched form variables to appropriate DB fields
    Set it to go to page to list all users
    Saved page
    Run on local server (php/MySQL)
    When I edit the user  data in the update form and click submit, the record is deleted.
    * I checked the MySQL DB and the entire recored has been deleted
    Anyone have a clue on why this is happening?

  • [php+mysql] how to pass data from one insert form to another?

    Hi all,
    I have an insert form (in a mysql db) on the page. Is there a way to
    view the inserted data after inserting so stat the user can print it
    out?
    TIA
    tony

    >Hi Tony,
    >let´s assume the table´s Primary Key column is named "id" -- just add this value (available as "Dynamic Data") to the "Redirect after Insert" URL in the following way:
    >print.php?id={id}
    >...and on that page add a recordset which queries the table like that:
    >"SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE id" equals the URL parameter "id"
    >That should be all there is to do.
    >Cheers,
    >Günter Schenk
    >Adobe Community Expert, Dreamweaver
    Hi Günter,
    Thanks, it works.
    I added a bit of code to set a session variable using this Parameter
    URL, so that I can manage the record ID along the whole user session.
    So, I ask you a little question: when it is best to delete or destroy
    session variables? after displaying the inserted records or just befor
    inserting the first one?
    Here is my little test workflow:
    1- destroy variable sessions (I think I will unset session variables
    one by one instead, to eliminate the risk to delete other sesssion
    variable (UserID...)
    2- insert the first record (redirect to the next page using the record
    ID1)
    3- set a session variable (S1) using the ID1 coming from previous page
    ($_GET)
    4- insert the second record (redirect to the next page using the
    record ID2)
    5- set a session variable (S2) using the ID2 coming from previous
    page ($_GET)
    6- insert the third record (redirect to the next page using the
    record ID3)
    7- set a session variable (S3) using the ID3 coming from previous page
    ($_GET)
    8- create a recordsets to filter the db by S1, S2 and S3.
    9- display the report
    it seems to work.
    do you think there is something to refine?
    Thanks again for your kindness.

  • Where is the Record Update Form Wizard in DWCC?

    Trying to follow online help but it doesn't relate to DWCC.   A tutorial I found for CS6 suggests that it's in Insert > Data Objects > Update Record > Record Update Form Wizard but in DWCC there is no "Data Objects" option in the Insert menu.
    By the way, I'm looking for the wizard not the straight Update behaviour which I'm aware is in the Server Behaviours panel.
    Thank you.
    NJ
    EDIT:  Just spoke to Adobe "support" by chat about this and they were absolutely useless. The directed me to the article that I've highlighted above as being for CS6, which isn't helpful because "Data Objects" isn't in the Insert menu in DWCC, and when I pointed that out they gave me this link to try:  http://www.adobe.com/devnet/
    Seriously?  Is this the best I can hope for from Adobe support?  It was clear that the operative was just doing Google searches for the answers as opposed to actually knowing the software that they represent.  Really disappointing support.

    Hi Jon,
    "Database functionality was removed from DWCC."  - I use database functionality a lot so this is a real let down.  Why has it been removed when it seems so integral to a lot of modern websites and web applications?
    I've got the Legacy Extension, or Depracated_ServersBehaviours panel extension, but that does not bring back the Record Update Form Wizard.
    Tutorials as far as CS6 reference the Record Update Form Wizard but I'm guessing that it has just been completely dropped in DWCC - not that anyone from Adobe know that one way or another.  The official "support" I received earlier was a complete joke (some guy doing Google searches whilst saying - "I'm just verifying your account").
    I'm quite handy with Google myself so maybe there's an opportunity for me to move into a career as an Adobe support technician.
    I'll have to find a third party extension then I guess.  Thanks for the advice.
