How add a css preloader in Edge animate?

You can add a preloader by selecting the Stage and then clicking on the "Edit..." button in the properties panel in the Preloader section.

How to eliminate or customise the White preloader with Edge content in DPS apps.

I am looking for a possible solution with the White Preloader Page when creating an IPA via Indesign.
The content is fully created in Adobe Edge Animate, then its published HTML is placed via the Indesign Folio Overlay. Then via the DPS APP BUILDER converted to an IPA, this is working fantastic !!
.. but..
When the app is launched on the iPad there is always, always the white preload screen with the spinning wheel for a few instances.
Tried to customize the preloader screen in Edge but the White screen will show first, then the custum preload screen and then the content.
Also tried to modify directly the HTML but no luck, there is always the White screen with the spinning wheel.
Somebody got any idea how to hide this White Screen ? Or how to customise this ?

I'm not sure what you mean by IPA but are you using the HTML files from Edge or the .oam file. You know that the .oam file is much easier to use than the HTML files from Edge when being used in DPS. You know you can create a poster image directly in Edge as well that is not white. You can also take the posterimage.png file from the image folder and bring it into Photoshop and delete everything and save it as a transparent .png and replace it. That way what ever is behind the animating shows through. Just a suggestion.

PRELOAD ALL EDGE FILES AT ONCE?

I have one edge project with single edge files. My aim is to have a html5 based website, in which it is possible to link between the files. It would be nice, if the whole project will be loaded at once instead to have the preloader after every single link.

Probleme de preloader sous edge

Bonjour à tous,
j'ai mis en ligne mon projet edge sur mon site suivant : http://www.haroldgene.com
je rencontre trois soucis. premièrement le preloader ne s'exécute pas même en étant online ou offline.
Deuxièmement l'animation prend un temps fou a demmarrer, environ 5 à 10 sec et bien plus sur mobile.
troisiemement, le projet n'apparait carrément pas sur les mobiles tournant sous android.

Plusieurs questions d'optimisation :
le nombre d'assets, 85 à charger, ça veut dire que le navigateur se connecte 85 fois au net pour demander un élément, attend le serveur, reçoit l'élément. Pour cela regardez du côté des spritesheets
le poids des images, dans le dossier screens, les visuels font entre 100 et 200k. on peut les diviser par 3. Il me semble que même sur les autres images, on pourra gagner de la place, voir enregistrer pour le web via photoshop, jpg 70 serait suffisant.
Pour les zeb 123, passez par fireworks pour faire des png plus légers (+ spritesheet)
2,5MB pour une seule page, ça reste beaucoup, surtout à l'heure des connexions mobiles.

Preloader: Only works on first publish?

Ok. I have a simple animation composed of two SVG's. The SVG's are quite simple (random dots simulating a starfield). This oam file will ultimately be added to a Muse project.
I can successfully publish the animation.
I can add the animation to the Muse project...
Publish the Muse project
On Publish, Muse launches a browser window and viola..
I can see the preloader and Edge animation working ok on first publish...
However, if I refresh my browser, the preloader just hangs the animation...
This happens in a variety of browsers (*Our primary build out is Chrome)
Things to note:
The homepage containing the animation does also include Inserted HTML at the footer of the page. Notice the slow marching parade of accolade logos? This is separate HTML/CSS animation and outside of the Edge animation I am referring to above.
I have tried both he "Immediate" and "Polite" options on the preloader setup
The animation is not very large so my expectation at this time would be that the Preloader just blinks real quick and disappears. This would be a satisfactory result.
I have been deleting browser cache during testing
"Host runtime files on Adobe CDN" checked and unchecked; tested both... no change in outcome...
No audio has been added to the project assets; audio is not being used in this project (unfortunately; I like this feature though)

Customising Preloader

Hi all,
Having reall dificulties customising preloader in Edge Animate...
To get straight to the point(s):
1. My main project is utilising 100% stage width and height amd naturally I would like for preloader to do the same but somehow animated gif always gets 'stuck' at the very top of the page ignoring Y percentage coordinates. How am I to center preloader animation regardless of the screen size?
2. Preloader page is always white... How am I to change its colour? Or even better, how can I load some background pattern instead of using plain colour?
These are my two main issues for now.

If you have a preloader the preloader will not center using the above method.
You will need to use this method:
Open the HTML file created by Edge...
Using Dreamweaver or Notepad
add this in between the <head> tags:
<style type="text/css">

</style>
Make sure the height and width match the height and width that you set for the Stage in Edge.

How does the new HTML5 video Support work? and what are the limitations?

So the new Edge has been relased along with many new features including HTML5 video support So along with the new feature here are a few new questions!
How does Edge load the Video? is it fully preloaded before Edge shows the content ? Or is it more of a "youtube" pregressive load while playing?
Or can we choose?
What is the recommended video file size example 4mb ?
How does edge deal with browsers that only support .ogg or .webm instead of mp4?
How is the support on ISO & tablets? load times, "lag" etc?

When you import an audio or video file a group is created for you. You can import media with the same name(videosample.ogv; videosample.mp4) to this group for ensuring browser compatibility. The corresponding format will be chosen depending on the browser that loads the composition.
Regarding WebM format - You can also add a webm file in your composition;However since this is a royalty format, Animate will not show a live preview inside the Authoring tool. If you browser supports this then it will definitely play fine on browser preview.
You can take a look at the In-app Video lesson which is available to you in the lesson panel for more details on how this works.
And yes you have pre-load options for HTML5 Video too, however progressive download is not available. You will need to use scripting using JS for getting this functionality.

How to create a Lightbox in Edge Animate with Preloader

Hi guys, please am new in a lot of stuff in edge animate but I need some help. I want to create a lightbox containing image slider (loading from an external image folder) but I want the images to be preloaded first then edge displays the slider for a smooth experience. Or is it that Edge preloads all assets before playing the website if of course I use the inbuilt preloader built within edge. I often assume that the preloader built into edge might not include the image slider i intend to load externally.(Please correct me if am wrong). Still struggling with a Edge. Assistance with a small sample file will help. I learn fast that way. Thanks

Edge 2014.1.1 Coordinated Preloading functionality is dead ?

I used the versions of Edge prior to 2014.1.1 and i have see that the Coordinated Preloading functionality does not exist anymore.
This is a problem, I need to create a pause between the preloading and the play of slide.

At the end of the old guide, you can see "Coordinated Preloading" and the AdobeEdge.loadResources(); AdobeEdge.playWhenReady(); commands.
I have use this tecnique.
I have create a slide that:
1- load itself and width the
<script> window.AdobeEdge = window.AdobeEdge || {}; window.AdobeEdge.bootstrapLoading = true; </script>
when it is loaded, it is in stand-by mode.
2- load others materials external from slide and, when load is finished, i call the command AdobeEdge.playWhenReady(); so, when the required assets and scripts are loaded the Edge slide can play

Preloader (Edge Animate)

Program freezes after adding a preloader. nothing responds. The file can be new or old. I have reinstalled everything. This has been going on for 2 days. I have done everything I can think of. Does anyone know how this could be?

Embedding edge animate video - endless Preloader no Video -- Updatet!

Hi,
i do a simple test with the Edge Animate Video-Tutorial on my FTP-Server. With a simple Play/Pause Button and a Video(mp4/ogv).
I add a preloader image at the beginning and i center the whole stage.
After i publish and upload the web folder to my FTP-Server, i get the animated preloader image in the Browser Window in the top/left corner and nothing else(endless Preloader animation).
Only after i press 1 to 3 times the reload Button, i get the right animation and the video play if i press the play button and the Stage is centered. Everything works then fine.
Safari, IE9, Chrome and Firefox have the same behaviour.
What is wrong???

i have deleted the preloader and updated the animation to my FTP-Server, now it works fine on Chrome, IE and Safari except of Firefox. On Firefox i have to press reload one time.
What can i do??

How can I get Preloader to work with my (Edge Animate) project?

I have carefully followed the instructions to set up a simple preloader gif for my fairly large project. After hours of torturous examination, I still cannot find out why the preloader gif does not appear. Can anyone help? The project is at:

How do I export an Edge Animation into a single folder? (no subfolders)

I need to export an Edge Animation so that all of the javascript, html, and images are located in one folder. (no subfolders)

if you do.
open [you comp name]preloader.js in an editor look for "aloader" and remove the paths from edge.*.min.js and the jquery1-7...
open [your comp name]-edge.js and edit " var im='images/'; " to var im=''";
then cut paste all your files to the sinle folder

How do I keep an Edge Animate banner ad file size small?

Most publishers cap the file size of banner ads at 30 KB to 50 KB. Is that possible using Edge? I know someone asked a question like this two years ago, and the reply was to use a CDN to serve the larger .js files. Is there a more direct approach now that Edge is no longer in preview? Thanks!

We were just forming what became the Edge Animate team two years ago, so many questions were asked at that time. The 30k-50k ad standards were built with Flash in mind; HTML advertising standards are still emerging. In the meanwhile, we are making a continuing investment to improve the form factor of Animate output. Here are a few things we've done so far in "Publish":
- Frameworks via CDN (for jQuery)
- "Polite" preloader - this allows you to sneak-in under 30k size limits. It shows a light-weight "preloader" and then pull in a larger payload after the page has loaded. The preloader UI contains a meter that indicates the gzipped size of the preloader including its resources.
- Compressed composition output. When published, the animation (xyz_edge.js) is written in an efficient/compact form that shaves as much as 80% from the composition size.
I'd be grateful for your perspective on the "polite preloader" approach vs. trying to fit the entire composition into 30k. If Animate were to support an "areo-gel weight" output format, what kinds of experiences would you expect to produce with it? If you have any examples, please share!

How do you add Edge Animate to HTML Module using DotNetNuke (DNN)?

First off I'm new to the whole web design/coding/html/css/jquery/etc., and the program Edge Animate is amazing!
I have a site up using DNN and wanted to put what I created on Animate onto one of the pages. I added an HTML module and that's where I'm stuck.
I do not know where to get the complete code so it works, and I do not know where to upload the Animate files. When it comes to creating the thing, I can manage (by reading ALOT), but when it comes to implamenting I am just stumped.
Any idea?

There are four basic steps needed to embed an Edge Animate composition into an existing page:
Publish from Edge Animate. (This creates the necessary files to run the animation. Also, the code referenced in Step 2 and 3 below will be included in the .html file that Animate creates inside the publish/web folder, which you can just copy/paste.)
Add a <div> to the page that has the ID of Stage and the correct class name for your stage (i.e. the "Composition ID" for your project in Animate).
For example:
<div id="Stage" class="EDGE-1655086"></div>
Include the Preload .js file and the default style in your page's header, within Edge Runtime HTML comments.
For example:

</style>

Make sure to upload all of the include files to your server in the appropriate relative locations. This includes the _edge.js files, _edgeActions.js file, _edgePreload.js file, the edge_includes folder and its contents, any other files/folders created inside the "publish/web" folder when you publish from Edge Animate (e.g. "images" folder, etc.).
