PreparedStatement executeBatch

Hi Guys!
I'll be executing multiple sql statement and I'm using executeBatch of PreparedStatement. But I'm having some problem when I get errors during the execution (e.g. UNIQUE CONSTRAINT). The process stops on that point. What I want to happen is to continue the process even I encountered errors. Please help me! Thanks!

    I'm having a problem with the executeBatch() command. It seems that whenever I used it, my program just hangs up. What this program do is that it first read a text file and place it in an Array. Then it would also read the Database and place the contenent of the table in an array as well. Each Array has at least 100,000 records. If the record from the textfile and the database matches, it would update the table using a preparedStatement.addBatch() command. After the said loop, it is then that the int[] cnt = preparedStatement.executeBatch() command is called. and that is when the Hanging part begins. Can you help me.

    Yes, i'm using a JDBC-ODBC bridge. The dirver is (sun.jdbc.odbc.jdbcodbcdriver). I tried examining the program patiently waited, and eventually it did not hang anymore. At first instance, I did gave the program some time and look if it really hangs, but after 15-30 mins, it work but the the second executeBatch() didn't work. There were no errors or exception that were caught.

    I am using PreparedStatement's executeBatch() method to make batch operations,
    for such a scenario is there a way to continue the operation 3 and 4 when the operation 2 fails?
    operation 1 (will succeed alone)
    operation 2 (will fail alone)
    operation 3 (will succeed alone)
    operation 4 (will succeed alone)

    The first two successfull insert operations really updates the database which is Oracle.
    But it seems the failed 3rd operation prevents the operation 4 to update database.
    My code is something like that:

    The results are pretty confusing, as I said first two operations updates the db, but fourth is did not.
    But system out says:

    I would expect something like that:

    Since the size of the int array that the e.getUpdateCounts() is 4 which is also equal of the batch operations' size, I assume that the driver continues to process the commands in the batch after a BatchUpdateException is thrown.
    I am totally confused, can anybody comment these results? Is there a way to succeed the fourth operation?

  • PreparedStatement and executeBatch()

    I am trying to insert records into the database using the addBatch() and executeBatch() methods. I am using PreparedStatement. And I am trying to insert 52 records at a time.
    I have the records in an array, and I am looping through the array, setting the parameters for the prepared statement and doing addBatch(). And finally when I come out of the loop I call preparedStatement.executeBatch().
    int[] updateCounts = ps.executeBatch();
    Here it is throwing out the ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException. Anybody has any idea why this is happening? This works fine with the Statement object, but it is with the PreparedStatement that I am having this problem. I am using JDK 1.3. My database is DB2 UDB 7.1 and my driver is IBM DB2 ODBC Driver.

  • Can not add nodes (content and folder) into repositories

    I have configured MS SQL database with WebLogic portal 10.2 without any error.
    Then i successfully created around 142 nodes under repository. But after that, when i try to create any new node

    This code works for me but only inserting one row. More than one causes an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException once sendBatch is called.

  • Oracle Batch update problem

    Hi,
    I have a queer problem with batch inserts in oracle, loaded on a sun solaris m/c.
    I'm trying to do a batch insert using the executeBatch() api of java.
    I am able to do batch insertions from my workstation i.e win2k properly . But i'm unable to do so when i run the program on the sun solaris m/c.(The data base is the same)
    Since the JVMs are different i have a feeling it could be the oracle JVM that is giving the problem.
    Please advice me as to how i can overcome this.

    I am having the same problem with a 9i installation on Win2k. My code works fine when run in the Sun JVM on a client. When I try to executeBatch in the Oracle JVM, I get "java.sql.BatchUpdateException: Internal Error: oracle.jdbc.kprb.KprbDBStatement".
    I am using what I thought was the standard preparedStatement.addBatch() and preparedStatement.executeBatch() APIs.
    I see in the SetExecuteBatch.java example the use of connection.setDefaultExecuteBatch(int) and preparedStatement.executeUpdate(). Is this usage required when running in the Oracle JVM? What if I set my batch size to 10000 but I only have 9000 rows in the last set -- how do I force the batch to execute on the smaller set?

  • How to optimize massive insert on a table with spatial index ?

    I need to implement a load process for saving up to 20 000 points per minutes in Oracle 10G R2.
    These points represents car locations tracked by GPS and I need to store at least all position from the past 12 hours.
    My problem is that the spatial index is very costly during insert (For the moment I do only insertion).
    My several tries for the insertion by :
    - Java and PreparedStatement.executeBatch
    - Java and generation a SQLLoader file
    - Java and insertion on view with a trigger "instead of"
    give me the same results... (not so good)
    For the moment, I work on : DROP INDEX, INSERT, CREATE INDEX phases.
    But is there a way to only DISABLE INDEX and REBUILD INDEX only for inserted rows ?
    I used the APPEND option for insertion :

    In this example there is no data traffic between the Oracle database and a client but you have 60 -16 = 44 seconds to upload your points into a temporary table. After uploading in a temporary table you can do:
    insert /*+ append */ into testpoints
    select (sdo_geometry(2001,null,sdo_point_type(x,y, null),null,null))
    from temp_table;
    commit;Your insert ..... values is slow, do some bulk processing.
    I think it can be done, my XP computer that runs my database isn't state of the art.

  • ORA-01003 Error from jbpm/hibernate

    We are using the JBoss jbpm workflow solution which uses hibernate as the persistence API. Intermittently we are getting failures when it is trying to insert into the jbpm_log table. Looking at low level jdbc logging it appears to be constructing prepared statements correctly and binding variables. Is it possible for this error to be caused by memory issues on the database server side eg lack of free space in shared pool ?

    Just to add some more info here :-
    The failure on the insert into jbpm_log only happens intermittently, 99% are successfully inserted including the exact same insert statement (with different bind variable values).
    My thoughts on investigating this are that it could be to do with statement caching as it does appear that the cursor that weblogic has cached a handle to may be invalid in terms of the shared sql is no longer in the oracle shared pool. I would have expected that Oracle would have reparsed the statement and it shouldnt fail but I am not familiar with the detail of weblogic statement caching implementation, only of the oracle jdbc driver level.
    Occassionally I have also seem the following Oracle error and dont know whether there is some connection with this.

    I think there is some problem with DB2 8.1 JDBC driver. I get
    SQL0100W No row was found for FETCH, UPDATE or DELETE; or the result of a query is an empty table. SQLSTATE=02000
    exception when I use preparedstatement.executeBatch() and I have only one statement in the batch [to delete a non existing row from a table]

    Well the error is telling you what you already now... ie. the row doesn't exist. So it's not really a bug. I'm not sure I would hae classified it as an Exception rather than an Warning but the API only says
    BatchUpdateException (a subclass of SQLException) if one of the commands sent to the database fails to execute properly or attempts to return a result set.
    So I guess how fails to execute properly is open to interpretation.

    HereCould anyone tell me why does the "numUpdates[intI]" return -2.
    Yes i understand that it indicates that the number of updated rows cannot be determined, however i would like to know exactly why and when does this happen.
    Also i would like to know that if any of the preparedStatement.addBatch() for Update queries, if the where clause (which is part of the Update Query) is not satisfied then what does this preparedStatement.executeBatch() return ?

My uneducated guess would be that it returns zero. You could try it yourself and see what it really returns.

  • Want to save time while doing inserts or updates using JDBC

    I want to save time while doing inserts/updates in a database in my Java app. using JDBC. My app. has to do a lot of inserts and that takes up a lot of time.
    I can do some buffering and then do bulk/batch inserts if that will help. any pointers on whether this will be useful and how to go about it?
    Is there any other way I can save time and thereby improve performance?
    I am using Oracle 8 with Oracle thin driver.

    I tried using the PreparedStatement.addBatch() and PreparedStatement.executeBatch() in a test program.
    The error is SQLException - "Unsupported feature" which I get at the addBatch method call. I am using oracle thin driver sdk 8.1.6 for jdk 1.2.x

    application till the other DBMS client commits or rolls back
    it's tx.
