Preparing the Oracle Media Installation File

I am using job roles for the RAC installation. The following users and directories for the RAC installation are created:
asm user as Oracle ASM software owner
crs user as Oracle Clusterware software owner
oracle user as Oracle Database with RAC option owner
/u01/app/crs -----> Oracle Clusterware 11g
/u01/app/asm ----> Oracle Automatic Storage Management 11g
/u01/app/oracle ---> Oracle Database 11g EE with RAC option
If I use an Oracle Media Installation Area then it required to do the following? Would it be a best practice?
mkdir -p /stage/crs/11.1.0
mkdir -p /stage/asm/11.1.0
mkdir -p /stage/oracle/11.1.0
Copy the zip files to this staging directory
- Oracle Clusterware to /stage/crs/11.1.0
- Oracle Database 11g EE to /stage/asm/11.1.0
- Oracle Database 11g EE to /stage/oracle/11.1.0
Unzip Oracle Clusterware (/stage/crs/11.1.0) as crs
Unzip Oracle Database 11g EE (/stage/asm/11.1.0) as asm
Unzip Oracle Database 11g EE (/stage/oracle/11.1.0) as oracle
Since I have a separate ASM user and matching directory for the ASM software, do I need to unzip a separate set of the Oracle Database 11g EE installation software for it to install correctly?

Since I have a separate ASM user and matching directory for the ASM software, do I >>>need to unzip a separate set of the Oracle Database 11g EE installation software for it >>>to install correctly?You don't need to. You can very well re-use the single 11g unziped software and use it for RDBMS and ASM - provided different users (asm and oracle in your case) have execute privileges.

  • How to rollback the oracle silent installation

    Hello Guys!
    i have one simple question related to the Oracle silent installation.
    I implemented embedded installation of Oracle in silent mode for my product.
    But i want to implement the rollback feature, i mean it should be possible to interrupt silent installation of Oracle s\w and it should be implemented in correct way. All installed files services should be removed, cleared all registry keys, cleared the inventory information etc.
    So if someone knows anything how to perform this functionality it will be great help for me. I see only two ways:
    1. To write something into the input stream of the process, like "stop", "cancel" ...
    Maybe it is funny idea
    2. The second way to perform termination of process and clear all information in scripts, but this is waste of time and may cause some addional errors at execution.
    3. So if you can help me thanks in advance
    Alex

    Hello Nicolas!
    yes you are very close to the theme. I used this codes but it is not what i am looking for now. I'll try to explain:
    ---------------------------------------- xx% ---------------------------------------
    | Oracle Installer is strated | ---------------> | Oracle istallation is done |
    ---------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------
    | |
    | |
    | to interrupt installation
    | |
    |______________|
    go to the same state as before installation
    Thus do you know the best way how to implement this process:
    1. To interrupt silent installation of Oracle
    2. Rollback all changes made by interrupted setup program(some files are installed etc, but i don't need them since i had interrupted the installation process)
    So thanks for your answer
    Alex

  • [b]Can't not run the Oracle Universal Installer (Oracle8.1.7 for Linux) on

    I have a problem when try to install Oracle8i Release 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition on RedHat Linux 7.3. After I do the pre-installation tasks, i enter the command (runs as the oracle user):
    $ /tmp/Disk1/runInstaller
    I wait for the one minute and then nothing is happen. I don't understand the reason why the Oracle Universal Installer can't not display! Please tell me all reasons may be!

    Sorry the Oracle version should be 1.7 not 1.1.7. I downloaded it from the web site. The JRE I downloaded is jre 1.18 because the installer asked for this version.

I downloaded a JRE from blackdown and make a link to /usr/local/jre and I also tried to make link to the JRE shiped with Oracle8 1.1.7. But I still get same error. Does Oracle8 1.1.7 still need JRE downloaded and insatll(or link) to /usr/local/jre? I don't know what else I can try. Please give me a help. Thanks.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

  • Where do I find the Oracle Client installation for HPUX

    I thought I could install the Oracle Client on my HPUX Itanium server from these zipfiles:
    hpia64_11gR2_database_1of2.zip
    hpia64_11gR2_database_2of2.zip
    But, after unzipping them, I'm not locating "clientadmin.rsp" which I was expecting to find in the binary distribution.
    The only .rsp files I'm finding are these:
    ./database/response/dbca.rsp
    ./database/response/netca.rsp
    ./database/response/db_install.rsp
    Is the install media for Oracle Client going to found somewhere else? I'm having quite some difficulty locating it.
    Locating the "Instant Client" was easy, but that's not what we're trying to accomplish here. We want to run the "Administrator installation of Oracle Client".
    Any help is, of course, greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    ...Chuck...

    It seems that my concern is that I haven't got the correct binary (zip) files yet. After extracting BOTH files I'm left with the following, top-level structure:
    $ pwd
    /home/szpqw7/11gR2Client/database
    $ ll
    total 80
    drwxr-xr-x 12 root sys 8192 Dec 16 09:41 doc
    drwxr-xr-x 4 root sys 8192 Dec 16 09:41 install
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root sys 96 Dec 16 09:41 response
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root sys 96 Dec 16 09:41 rpm

    -rw-r--r-- 1 root sys 5386 Dec 16 09:41 welcome.html

    As you can see, there is no "client" directory there. What binary should I be looking for that would contain the folder you are suggesting??

  • When installing Firefox 35 into Windows 7 running inside VMware Fusion on a Mac, into which folder should I put the downloaded Firefox installer file?

    Inside Windows I see a folder called PROGRAM FILES and another one called PROGRAM FILES (X86). Is either of these the correct one to put the Firefox installer program into before I launch the installer? There is also a folder called WINDOWS. Sorry for such an elementary question but I've never been a Windows user; just Macs so far until now. My intention is to download the Windows version of Firefox using a browser on the Mac side of the computer since I have working browsers there. Then I would copy the ".exe" file to whichever Windows folder is correct. Am I on the right track or am I courting disaster?
    Also, will there be a preference inside Firefox to make it the default browser in the Windows environment? I'd like to avoid using Internet Explorer.
    ( I'm writing this from the Firefox browser, v. 28.0 in the Mac OS (10.6.8). I didn't click the "Automatically Add" button for submitting troubleshooting information because I'm not asking about the browser in the Mac OS environment.)
    Thank you.

    The full Windows install file from for instance https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ is an executable dot.exe file.
    It will run from anywhere the user has the correct permissions, incluing the desktop or the downloads folder. It will offer standard or custom installs, usually opt for the standard install and the necessary flies and folders will be created.

    Hi,
    You can use something like this:
    switch(cell.getCellType()) {
      case Cell.CELL_TYPE_STRING:
        System.out.println(cell.getRichStringCellValue().getString());
        break;
      case Cell.CELL_TYPE_NUMERIC:
        if(DateUtil.isCellDateFormatted(cell)) {
          System.out.println(cell.getDateCellValue());
        else {
          System.out.println(cell.getNumericCellValue());
        break;
        case Cell.CELL_TYPE_BOOLEAN:
          System.out.println(cell.getBooleanCellValue());
          break;
        case Cell.CELL_TYPE_FORMULA:
          System.out.println(cell.getCellFormula());
          break;
        default:
          System.out.println();
    Hope it helps,

  • Preparing the harddrive for installation?

    I cannot seem to find out how I have to prepare the harddrive for the installation of Solaris 8...
    Does it have to be totally blank? (No partitions)
    Do I have to create partition(s) before installing?
    If so do they need to be FAT16 or FAT32?
    And do I have to format them or leave them unformatted?
    Any hints?

    If you are on a SUN hardware, U need not have to format the disk before installation. Just check out weather the machine has detected the hard drive by probe-scsi OR probe-ide at the "ok" prompt. The installation procedure by itself involves partitioning the disk as per the requirement:)

  • Problem when copying over the Oracle Lite DB Files...

    Hi All,
    i have installed oracle Lite 10g on my desktop and created a Database and then created a user on it.
    when i created all of that, it created two files: one which is a .odb (datbase file) and .opw (password file).
    the opw files has encrypted info about the user that i created on the DB.
    i am trying to port my entire application on to a laptop.
    so i install oracle lite 10g on it and then copy over these Datafiles (.odb) and password (.opw) file.
    i make the neccesary entries in the ODBC.ini file.
    now when i try to msql into the database it gives me an POL-5150 Access Violation error.
    any clue as to why it does not let me login.
    I Tried logging in both as the system user and the user that i created on the DB.
    any help would be great.
    i can login into the DB on my Desktop with the same username/password. no issues there. the issue is when i copy those files on the laptop.
    thanks,
    Milind

    Make shure that this file is in a folder that is in your path.
    to check this check your path (form cmd prompt typ set path) en search your hard disk for occurences of olod2040.dll.
    On my desktop the file is in C:\oracle\olite\Mobile\Sdk\BIN, this folder is also part of my path.
    normaly the file can also be found in C:\mobileclient\bin or whereever you installed the mobile client. I once noticed that deinstalling the sdk gave me the same error, the path was not set correctly when deinstalling.

  • I deleted the adobe media cache files and now i cannot open premiere or after effects.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Before trying to launch, please check Windows Task Manager's Processes tab to see if any of the following processes are hung:
    Adobe QT32 Server.exe
    dynamiclinkmanager.exe
    premiereproheadless.exe
    Exactly which "dialog box" are you referring to? The splash screen? Or the Welcome dialog? If you get as far as the Welcome dialog, are you trying to load an existing project or create a new one?
    Are you initiating launch through the app icon on the desktop or taskbar, or from a project file?

    Same in the case of Client and sample also.

  • OS file type for the 10g R2 installation

    I have a new AIX 5.3L system, and ready to install the 10g R2. When I check the file type of file system, I noticed that the contractor formated the hard drive (hdisk0) in jfs2 for OS itself and other three hds in jfs type and create the basic filesystem,/oracle_app, /oradata in jfs type hds. I knew there is a limitation of creating file larger than 2 G in 10g, However, for the installation of 10g and later operation, Do I need to install the oracle under jfs2 file type, just in case , for example for some media data file to be stored?

    Maybe I did not descirbe it clearly. Let me try again.
    I have 4 hds on the systems. Besides the OS filesystems, such as /home, /tmp, /user which are by default, other filesystems created by user, ex /myOracle, /myOradata were using jfs file type. So when I first installed the Oracle, there was a problem in process to create a datafile bigger than 2 G. I did not know what ent wrong. I thought it may be a limitation of 10G r2. Then when I tried to uncompress a file, which can expand into size biger than 2 G (2.8 G actually), in such filesystem folder, the OS return a message "file cannot be larger than the value set by ulimit". Even I set unlimited for the file size to /etc/security/limits, it still won´t work. The same error when I pass a larger file to that filesystem. So I realize that it must be the cause of the jfs system, because m other AIX system has the same filesystem but setup with jfs2 type. Then I created a filesystems with jfs2 and it worked. So I appoligize to mislead. But certainly the problem is under the AIX 5.3L. But my other concern is a filesystem using file type larger than 2 G necessary for Oracle 10 g operation (apparently needed for installation if i want to create datafile larger than 2 G)? Hope this will make thing clear.

  • Some applications prevent the Oracle Installer from starting in Windows

    A base Windows 2000 system has no problems running the Oracle 9i installer. After all the required application have been installed the Oracle installer does not work anymore. Does anyone have a list of applications that can cause this behavior?
    What we see happing is this. The Oracle client CD is put in the drive. The first window is displayed. The one that has 3 options: Deinstall/Install, Release Notes, and Documentation. When Deinstall/Install is selected an hour glass appears and then after a few minutes the window goes away and the installer does not start. There are directories created under the path specified in the temp environment variable. But the Universal Installer is not started and no log files are created. Again this is not a problem when there is just the base Windows 2000 and SP 4 installed. But after the other applications are installed, 32 in all including Exceed and Microsoft .NET 2003, the installer will no longer run.
    My next step is to try one by one each of the 32 applications to find the one at fault. Unless someone can give me a hand with this. Thanks.

    I found this additional hint:
    There is a lock up with other JAVA programs:
    If there are other JAVA products installed, with potential other JRE
    versions on the system, it is possible that the system environment settings
    are interfering with the JAVA version of the Universal Installer.
    Solution here:
    1) Open a new command window
    2) Remove the CLASSPATH setting from the environment
    3) Remove the INST_LOC from the registry on Windows NT, or remove the
    "oraInst.loc" file on UNIX.
    4) Restart the Universal Installer from the distribution media.
    5) During this run, the Universal Installer will be installed again on the
    system.
