Presets settings

I am a bit frustrated with Presets.
I have created a Preset named " Identity and copyright". I want to use this Preset during importing all images.  However, I'm having some confusion in the Metadata section while in the Library module on the Right Panel.
There is a pull down menu next to Metadata. It shows several choices like Default, minimal,IPTC, etc.  Which is the most practical choice? Minimal, Default? Right below there is another field with a pull down menu. I am trying to select my Preset named "Identity and Copyright" but somehow LR won't let me select it and it goes by default to "None".
What am I doing wrong?

First of all, thanks a lot for sending a detailed reply. Ah what a relief to
hear that.
*The preset during IMPORT is the one that sets the data in all of the files
during import, to the same value.*
So if that is the case, then why do they have the pull down menu in the
Preset field? I can see the name of my Identity, edit preset, but can't make
a selection to stay put.
*Don't worry about while type of meta-data to show (default, minimal, etc)
during import*
I figured that out I have it set now at "minimal" and this menu is very
fluid and responsive. However, the one that I'm having some confusion is the
Preset menu. Why have the pull down menu when I can't change it. It looks
like "none" is the default. Am I right ?
Then to import you select that preset
So far I have only created one Preset, the identity copyright one. Can you
tell me one more time how do I select a preset after being saved?
At this time, I'm not creating any presets just adding keywords as I do my
imports, but I'm sure in the future I will be using this feature

  • Creating Loadable Preset Settings

    Hi,
I am trying to create loadable preset settings for my controls.  I wasn't sure of the best method so I started by allowing the user to save the preset as a text file.  The problem I am having is how to load the presets from the text file.  I was thinking that I could try Read from Spreadsheet, but a few problems/questions arise from that.
Problem #1: My text file has two columns.  For the sake of aesthetics I made it so the data of each column was perfectly aligned (Column 1 contains the name of the control and Column 2 contains the value of that control).  This leaves me with instances where different amounts of space exist between elements in the same row.  I am not sure how to parse the data in each row.  The easiest way I can see would be if i could have an offset per line since my control values are all the same length from the start of the line.  I can't figure out how to implement it, if it is even possible.
Problem #2: If I manage to parse the data in the rows properly, I would be left with an array of control values.  How would I go about loading those values into the controls of the VI.  I am not sure how I would do that from an array.
I have attached a text file with the formatting I described above to give some reference.  The file contains channel names with "inactive" next to them.  Those are supposed to correspond with 0's, which I figured I could convert to numbers before they were loaded into the proper boolean controls.
    Thanks

    Hi Tom,
Thanks for the response.  I checked out the library and it was pretty helpful.  I ended up figuring out a solution that didn't come directly from the library due to my curiosity.  It is able to read in my files and load the presets to controls.  Thanks for your suggestion!  I attached the VI I made in case anyone stumbles upon this thread with the same problem I had.
    Thanks!

  • Import, Export and Preset settings from TimeMachine

I'd like to recover only my Import, Export and Preset settings of Aperture 3.0 from my backup disk using TimeMachine. Can someone pls guide me on what files to look for and where to find them? (I just reformatted my MBP and hence this query).
    Thanks in advance.

You will find the setting in your User Library in the folder
Your Home Directory > Library > Application Support > Aperture
Everything with "preset" in its name might be interesting to you.
Reveal the User Library by going to the Finder main menu bar, select "Go" and hold down the "option" key, until you see the Library in the drop down menu. Select it.
In the Library Finder window navigate to the "Application Support" folder, then "Aperture".
Drag the Aperture folder to the Finder Sidebar for easy access, then open Time Machine.
Go back in Time to the time you want to restore from, then restore the "Aperture Folder"  to your Desktop and copy the files you need to your Library.

  • How to change Preset settings (CS4)

    Hello everyone,
I'm going to make a video with Adobe Premiere CS4 and I need to know how to change Preset settings or however it is called, because I think none of the Presets match with my videos (tried some and my videos were bigger or smaller).
My videos are .mov, 800x600, made and rendered in Autodesk 3ds Studio Max 2010 (3D Program).
Could someone please help me? I don't know if there's a preset for me or if I have to change settings or something like that (and where). Yes, I'm new! I'm from Spain if you need it.
Feel free to ask anything you need, of course.
    Thanks in advance,
    Marta

    Marta,
    Welcome to the forum.
In CS4 and CS5, one can set the Preset at the Sequence level. Before, it was more global, at the Project level.
In Sequence New, you will choose the Desktop Preset, and then you can alter almost every displayed attribute, such as Frame Size, or Frame Rate, etc. you want to match your Sequence to your source footage 100%. After editing with those attributes matching, you can then Export to a desired output setting with AME (Adobe Media Encoder). You choice of Desktop, allows you to customize the settings to match. I wish that Adobe had named it "Custom," as the term "Desktop" is a bit abstract, though it has been around for a very long time.
Good luck, and do match your Sequence settings (Desktop) to your source footage.

  • Adobe Master Collection 5.5,  method of extracting all the presets, settings, etc. from every progra

Is there an automatic method of extracting all the presets, settings, etc. from every program in the Adobe Master Collection 5.5?
I am about to regenerate my Operating System Partitions  from scratch & do not want to go through setting up each & every program in the master collection by hand.

Adobe does have some pages documenting where it keeps preference et. al. files.  For example, this one for Photoshop CS5:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preference-file-functions-names-locations.html
I do know that overlaying the contents of the Adobe Photoshop CS5 Settings folder does restore most of the preferences.  The Color Settings are in a file called Color Settings.csf in another folder (depending on OS).  What I don't know is whether there are paths in those files that will differ depending on how you reinstall your system.
You'll want to reinstall all your plug-ins again, much the same as when you reinstall Photoshop.  But you can make a copy of your Plug-ins subfolders from your 32 and 64 bit Photoshop installation areas just for good measure, to make sure you don't forget some of them.
As for other programs in the suite...  You'll have to look for that info separately.

  • FCP export to .flv preset settings for web?

I'm building my web site in Flash and am desperately trying to find the right preset settings to compress my videos in Final Cut Pro 4.5 to play without pixilation in the new Flash Video Player (.flv)
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    kalen.

    Hello there Kalen!
I have found that Cleaner does a good job of compressing .flv files. Just export to Quicktime and then drag that into cleaner and tweek your settings in there. There are many options available depending on size, bit rate etc... Check it out: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=5562025&siteID=123112

  • Re compressor p24 p25 p30 preset settings.

    Hi all...
I decided to try this formum as it is compressor related.. and someone might know the answer here.
I decided to try and make things simple and use the same preset for the DVC PRO HD, on both Motion and Fcp, I am using 23.98 frames a second preset.
However in FCP this comes up with compressor p30 in the audio/video preset settings. ( even when at 23.98 in DVC PRO HD 1080p24... is this a mistake?)
In QT conversion there is only p24 and p30... In motion export p25 and p30.
    Does this make much difference?
Should I make my project p30 and rebuild, because that is the only "common" compressor setting. I need these programmes to work well together without round-tripping.
    Thanks for your time.

    Russ,
I switched the Padding setting back to: "Preserve source aspect ratio" and it worked this time. It was probably the first thing I tried without success, but it's fine now.
I did notice that after numerous export tests that the final quality when viewed in Quicktime was slightly different when I used the padding vs. having the padding and Filter Letterbox settings both on. Oddly enough, it seemed a bit better when using both. This could just be a bit of randomness in that every single export will be of slightly different quality, but it is easy to see a difference when you take an exported screen capture at 640x360 and view in full screen mode. Anyway, I guess it's all working now.
    Thanks,
    Dave
P.S. I'll check back on this thread later in case you have anything to add.

  • Sequence preset settings for HD

I'm new to shooting in HD, and I have a Sanyo Xacti HD2000 camcorder.
    I'm using Final Cut Pro v 5.1.4.
The .mp4 files which come off the camera I assume are encoded with AVCHD, since that's what the documentation says. Since FCP (at least my version) doesn't deal natively with AVCHD, I downloaded a trial of VoltaicHD and tested a clip.
The resulting .mov has a frame size of 1920 x 1080, vid rate of 59.94 fps, audio 48.0 KHz 16-bit Integer.
My question is: what sequence preset (if there is one) should I be using for my FCP projects? I can adjust a sequence settings to be HDTV 1080i frame size, but I haven't found a sequence preset which starts that way.
Should I be concerned with the Integer vs. Floating Point for the audio track?

Right, so VoltaicHD converts the video to:
    Apple Intermediate Codec, 1920 x 1080 (1888 x 1062), Millions
    16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz
and I figured out how to make a custom sequence preset with that codec and the right resolution. I'm pretty sure my FCP version doesn't have the ProRes codec support. Any thoughts on Voltaic? Is there a different/better/free way to convert the video?

  • Another white balance presets/settings question

(this is related to two other posts regarding white balance presets, but didn't want to hijack those threads with my own specific questions...)
i've got a canon s70, and have been messing around with a friends copy of aperture. the raw files of my camera are recognized (though the aperture camera support page identifies it as not optimized support), but the problem is that the white balance settings in camera are ignored.
when i view a raw file from my camera in aperture, the exif data shows that it is recognizing different white balance settings (various numbers are displayed here, for example, 1 for auto, 3 for tungsten, 6 for manual, etc). however, the temp. and tint settings are the same for all the images, regardless of wb setting (5278K temp, -18 tint).
    so, here are my questions:
    - is there any setting i'm missing that would let aperture correctly interpet the wb temp for a specific setting? in another thread regarding canon cameras and wb someone stated that aperture reads wb 'as shot', but it seems odd that it would recognize these different wb settings but apply the same temp and tint calculations across the board.
-i noticed that i can create white balance presets and apply them manually. i was wondering if it's possible to apply preset wb settings automatically. for example, is it possible to create an approximate wb setting for 'tungsten' (3), and then have it applied to all images with the '3' setting, either automatically on/immediately after import, or through an applescript or automator action?
while i could use lightroom, atm lightroom is lacking some features that i crucial to my wider image management/workflow needs (though it does correctly interpret my white balance settings). aperture seems like the best bet for me, but i would rather not go through my library of raw files and manually change the wb settings for each image.
thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know about your other white balance issue, but yes, you can apply a white balance to a selection of images.
Create a set of WB presets (one for daylight, cloudy, fluorescent, tungsten etc.). This takes moments and will be available on any future occasion.
Select and apply your WB preset to an image
Fine tune as needed (since in-camera auto white balance or presets often do not nail it)
    Select Lift/Stamp tool
    Click on your adjusted image
In the Lift/Stamp HUD, deselect all adjustments except the WB
    Select all target images
Click "Stamp Selected Images" button in the Lift/Stamp HUD

  • Export preset settings for Print Media?

i am about to set down and follow rudy gay's tutorial on exporting images with a logo overlay (thanks for all the help in finding this document) and i am wondering if there are an expert or two on the list that might be able to share screenshots of their export presets.
i have gotten to the point where i have applied metadata to imagery and i had a request recently to send in images that are larger than 1 MB but i have been really confused as to what i am doing here. for instance, i have three projects that were created by importing folders of images from this person which have imagery:
    "print" project = 24.75 MB 2400 x 3600 px
    "ppt" project = 505 KB and1024 x 683 px
    "web" project = 324 KB 1024 x 683 px
i /think/ all of these are 72 dpi but i am not sure how to check this.
plus, i just ran an export as JPG at 100% size from the PRINT project and they all landed on my desktop at something over 1 - 4 MB in size.
basically, i am hoping that someone wouldn't mind sharing their settings and perhaps a little bit of an explanation so i can start to teach myself how to make this work better over here.
i realize that some of these things may be considered particular to an individual or even proprietary in some way but anything i can get on this will put me much farther ahead than i am now.
    TIA
    jon

I apologize for not getting to this sooner.
How are you viewing the PDF that shows the discoloration? Acrobat or some other application? Is overprint preview turned on in Acrobat?
This is definitely transparency related. When you choose PDF 1.3 you are flattening the transparency and the white lines you see are called "stitching." Thay ae a dispaly artifact in Acrobat (they'll disappear if you turn off smoothing), and though they may show in a low-resolution digital print, they are usually not apparent in high-resolution output from a press.

  • How do I transfer my printer preset settings to my new Macbook Pro?

I have created several printer presets on my G5 that I want to transfer to my new MacBook Pro,I don't want to have to recreate them. What is the correct way to get them onto my MacBook Pro?

I just tried using Migration Assistant at setup for a lab image. The printer didn't "completely" transfer to the new machine. I say "completely" because, if you go to ~/Library/Printers, you'll see the named printer there, but it doesn't show up in Print & Fax nor does it show up in any print dialog boxes.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Booklet to PDF print preset settings not saved

I'm using ID CS4 on Vista64 Business and trying to output numerous booklet layouts to PDF for a client to print in-house at their premises. My lo-res tests work perfectly on their printer, I now need to output everything @ 300dpi etc.
I've set up a print preset to use the Adobe PDF printer driver and set all defaults I can find (Control panel etc) to High Quality output.
Interrogating the preset directly reports settings as "High Quality" but when using the Booklet Print dialogue Setup button to check the printer prefs, it always shows (and outputs) "Standard" settings.
Is there a way to get the ID Booklet option to remember the default PDF printer prefs?  It's a real pain to change these manually for each print run.
Thanks, any advice gratefully received.  [  I'm probably missing something embarrassingly fundamental.  ~:o(  ]

    Hi Peter,
I can only find a printer folder under Control Panel > Printers. This is where I've already changed the PDF Printer defaults without success. Oddly, I appear to have fixed it by renaming the print driver instance there to "Adobe PDFx" (probably any other name would also work).
Whilst troubleshooting, I found I could also see another network "Adobe PDF printer" on another machine. I had a look over the settings there and saw the option "render print job on client machine". This got me thinking I might NOT have been using the LOCAL PDF printer setup and was just fooling myself.
I changed the local PDF Printer name to be certain I could identify it correctly and Hey Presto!, it suddenly started accepting the preset changes. I changed it back to "Adobe PDF" and it reverted back to the "standard" settings and just ignores everything.
It may be a weird Vista 64 security thing, this OS does some very annoying things when trying to access stuff, even though I have master admin privileges.
I'll simply leave the printer name as "PDFx" for now as this is getting the job done.
    Thanks for your suggestions.

  • Preset settings for avchd.

With my Canon hf100 AVCHD camcorder, I like to shoot in 24p or 30 mode at 17 Mbps and full 1920 x 1080.
Premiere Pro CS4 does not have a preset project setting for anything like this. There is a avchd preset for 1080i/60 and 1080p/24.
What should my settings be to import this footage?
Should I import at 60i or maybe even the 1080p setting?

The current workaround to Adobe's lack of sufficient AVCHD presets has been to use the XDCAM editing presets. These sequences seems to work well with AVCHD footage and do not require rendering for realtime playback, AKA, there will not be a red bar above the video footage.
If there is not a preset that correctly matches the footage you shot, then choose Custom Settings and create one using the XDCAM editing mode.

  • QEPRO - for apple tv preset settings...

does anyone know what the settings / spec is for the for apple tv preset as it crops the image slightly when i export - want to replicate this with the .mov option

Matthew, so long as you translate your (non-square video) material to a square pixel ratio - say, 960x720 - the tv will pillarbox 4:3 content for a 16:9 display. You'll also be able to reallocate valuable bits because you won't have to encode the larger frame 1280x720 frame.
h.264 is progressive-scan only, so, yeah, all material must be deinterlaced during encoding.
As far as workflows, other than dropping the pillarboxing, I'm not sure there is much more that you can do - Frame Controls with Compressor to output an .mov (keeping your bitrate at 5MB/sec) is about all you can do for HD stuff. Even Compressor 3 Apple TV setting is surprisingly spartan.
Hopefully Brian Gary will chime in as well...
