Prevent Concurrent Instances for a composite

Hi,
We have a case of scheduled composite, and wanted to confirm if we have a mechanism within SOA 11g to prevent concurrent instances from starting?
The idea is to not start a new instance if earlier run has not finished.
Thanks in advance

Thanks Vlad for quick input.
We do have a clustered environment, so we were thinking of introducing a external database table to track a running instance for a particular composite. If another instance starts on its scheduled time while previous has not finished, it will go in wait state until the previous job finishes.
This is just a rough thought, because we may have case where previous job has not finished for long & we have 3-4 new instances waiting all competing to start, so seems like a bad design from start, will need to think it through. Any opinions or thoughts from your side?
Based on this, we now have a native scheduler in SOA 12c, even that does not have a option of concurrent run prevention?

    Sync should kind merge these two automatically. Right? :)

    iPhoto is a consumer based software thus very limited, likely to about 10,000 is reasonable before performance starts to degrade as it lumps and loads everything at once.
    You sorely need Aperture or Lightroom which has much better support for managing your huge library into managable chunks.
    Also you should be looking at using a external hardware based  RAID 0 as a working/speed drive in addition to several clones of the data on other drives.
    Most commonly used backup methods
    something like this on a fast connection, two 7,200 drives working together gives great drive performance.

    If your going to be creating addiitonal large amounts of photo's, you likely should be looking at a  RAID 5 setup with spare drives.

  • Events not being dequeued out of WF_BPEL_Q. No Instances on SOA composites

    We would like to capture a few business events in oracle financials that are of interest to us. In order to do this, we deploy oracle SOA composite with BEPL in the Oracle Fusion Middleware Control. The oracle SOA composite is configured for a particular business event. It listens on a specific queue WF_BPEL_Q and de-queues the messages in that queue. In jDeveloper 11g we created a SOA project with oracle applications adapter partner link and a receive.
    Specifically we are trying to capture the business outbound event oracle.apps.ar.hz.CustAccount.create just to get the event data in this receive.
    Partner link configuration: We added the database connection to the oracle financials instance. Tested it and we succeded. Chose ANY_SCHEMA in partner link configuration.
    We ensured that the JNDI Name here( eis/Apps/Apps ) match the JNDI name provided in the weblogic-->Deployments-->OracleAppsAdapter -->Configuration --> Outbound Connection Pools. For this outbound resource pool, Connection factory interface was javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory. Property name xADataSourceName was mapped to JNDI name of the configured JDBC datasource in the weblogic. In our case it was jdbc/AppsDataSource. When we created the connection pool. We tested and it worked fine. This data source had the connection pool configured to the oracle applications schema with APPS user.
    After adding the partner link with the above configuration, we added a receive. We deployed this configuration to the middleware. We went to the oracle financial, created a customer and account and we expected to having running instances against the deloyed composite. However, the problem is we are not having any running instance for the composite.
    We found that there are entries in the view AQ$WF_BPEL_QTAB with an ENQ_TIME and ENQ_TIMESTAMP but with no DEQ_TIME or DEQ_TIMESTAMP. The ENQ_TIMESTAMP corresponds to the time we created the customer and accounts in oracle financials and the USER_DATA column has the business event of interest. The events are enqueued in WF_BPEL_Q but not being dequeued by oracle applications adapter/composites deployed in soa server. Consumer name on AQ$WF_BPEL_QTAB matched with the consumer name on the deployed composite at the Oracle Enterprise manager.
    Any help would be highly appreciated. I have put in the initial set of information here. Please do let me know, if you would need any other information. I shall be more than happy to provide that.
    VERSION INFORMATION:
    We are using Weblogic Server 10.3.1.0 and Oracle Enterprise manager 11.1.1.1.0.

    I'm facing a similar problem. In my case, there is notifications on Oracle SOA Suite, but the message in wf_bpel_qtab still remains.
    Did you find something?
    Thanks.

  • Unable to get the composite instance for the invocation. This could be because instance has not yet been created or because the audit level for the SOA infra has been set to Off

    I am on Oracle 11.1.1.7 BPM suite on W8 64 bit. I can't launch the flow trace and get the error "Unable to get the composite instance for the invocation. This could be because instance has not yet been created or because the audit level for the SOA infra has been set to Off".  I have set the audit level to development at the soa-infra>SOA Administration> Common Properties > Audit level set to development and Capture Composite Instance State is Checked.
    Can somebody advice.
    Thanks

    Can you please confirm me the following steps...
    Log in to the EM console, Expand soa-infra (soa_server1) , go to the partition where your composite is been deployed, Click on your composite, On the right, click on the dropdown Settings and choose Composite Audit Level. you can choose to set the Audit Level for this composite. If you choose Inherit, it will take the settings to what the server is being set to. Otherwise, we can override it by choosing Off, Production, or Development.
    Make sure your setting for that composite is not Off, keep inherit or production or development.
    Thanks,
    N

    Hi Manish,
    It seems that you are using a custom security provider and the weblogic server is not able to find the class / jar file that contains the class.
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: Failed to load class com.msl.security.providers.SessionPrincipal]
    Make sure you have all the required jar files in the server classpath.
    You can use the JarScan utility to find the jar that contains the class.
    Refer the below link regarding the jarScan.

  • Sequential Instantiation of BPEL instances for a BPEL process

    Hi,
    We are using Oracle SOA 10.1.3.4 & AIA2.5. We have a situation where the instances of a particular bpel process have to be executed in sequence. Also, the new instance should NOT be instantiated unless the previous instance is completed.
    For example.. Lets say a SyncBPELReqABCS is invoking SyncBPELProvABCS via ESB. SyncBPELReqABCS is looping and spawning multiple instances of SyncBPELProvABCS in a certain sequential order in Asynchronous Fire-and-Forget model. Lets say bpel-instance#1, bpel-instance#2 and bpel-instance#3 are instances of SyncBPELProvABCS process. Even though SyncBPELReqABCS invokes (spawns) SyncBPELProvABCS in a fire and forget model, the bpel-instance#2 should not begin unless bpel-instance#1 is completed and bpel-instance#3 shuld not begin unless bpel-instance#2 is completed. This is because there is a dependancy between instacnes of SyncBPELProvABCS process.
    Can this be achieved in Oracle SOA?? Can we restrict the instacnes of SyncBPELProvABCS to be created in this manner?
    This is similar to "incompatability" of concurrent programs in ORACLE EBusiness Suite where one concurrent program waits till another concurrent program completes.
    Please let me know if I am not clear. Appreciate an immediate help!
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    Now that I look back at this tread, I can see that the questions I was asking and those of the original poster were somewhat different.
    But they both fall under the heading of "Sequential Instantiation of BPEL instances for a BPEL process", and so I thought I would post some findings we've come across regarding that topic here.
    There were a couple steps that helped us achieve the behavior we were looking for, and the were...
    1) Change the BPEL oneWayDeliveryPolicy from "async.persist" to "sync"
    This can be done in a couple locations. The first is within the EM application that comes bundled with SOA 11g, and the place to go is:EM > [farm name] > SOA > soa-infra (right click) > SOA Administration > BPEL Properties > More BPEL Configuration Properties > OneWayDeliveryPolicyOnce that value has been changed to "sync" (without the quotes), you'll need to stop and start the managed servers that run your SOA instance(s).
    As you might expect, making a change at the "server level" like this impacts the default behavior of all composites deployed within your SOA instance. The second place to make this change - within the deployment descriptors for your BPEL process - impacts only the BPEL process that is being modified. To make the change at this level, you would edit your project's composite.xml file and, for each BPEL component, specify:  <component name="BPELProcess1" version="2.0">
        <implementation.bpel src="BPELProcess1.bpel"/>
        <property name="bpel.config.oneWayDeliveryPolicy">sync</property>
        <property name="bpel.config.transaction">required</property>
      </component>What does this change do? Well, I don't claim to have a complete understanding, but in theory it prevents a thread handoff from taking place between the service that is initiates your BPEL process (like a receive) and the actual BPEL engine thread that processes the request.
    In our case, where calls between (and within) composites were all of the synchronous "fire and forget" variety, this change also caused the entire processing of a message (across three different composites) to happen in a single thread (each message handoff was one-way, and with the oneWayDeliveryPolicy set to "sync", each was handled in a synchronous manner).
    This also seemed to have the effect of serializing our message processing. For example, in a test case where a BPEL process reads from a JMS queue and 250 messages are enqueued, with the oneWayDeliveryPolicy set to "async.persist", I'd typically go in to EM and, on each refresh, find 5-8 instances of the composite that processes those messages to be in a "Running" state. Once the change to "sync" was made, I'd only see at most only 2 (where one had actually already finished; the audit system just hadn't yet caught up to that fact yet).
    This also means that, with a "sync" delivery policy, messages (at least in our environment) are processed more slowly, but that was ok with us as we were more concerned with the behavior than the speed.
    For details on this and other BPEL deployment descriptor properties, see:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/integration.1111/e10224/bp_app_deploydesc.htm
    Also, it's important to note that making the above change will alter the boundaries of your transactions as well as how faults are propagated. For more details, see:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/integration.1111/e10224/soa_transactions.htm
    2) Front BPEL process with a Mediator object and enable message resequencing
    While we're using the above change as a standard practice in our environment, this second change has only been nominally tested - but it could be of interest and so I'll mention it here.
    Once you've updated your composite to include a mediator object in front of your BPEL process (if there isn't one there already), edit the .mplan for your mediator and change the "Resequence Level" from the default value of "operations" to "component". Then change the "Resequence Mode" from "off" to "FIFO" and specify an X-Path expression by which the mediator will be able to group your messages. This will help ensure that the messages are being processed in the order you expect.
    More information about resequencing within the mediator component can be found:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/integration.1111/e10224/med_resequencer.htm
    Hopefully the above information is useful - if not for the original poster, then for someone who comes along later with similar questions.

  • BIZTALK bts action mapping problem with Message Schemas for the Composite Operation

    Hi,
    I have a message schema made with the composite operation.
    now, I have re-deployed my biztalk project and in the send port for this Oracle composite message the SOAP action header hasn't updated the correct action.
    now I tried several verations for this soap action mapping and this is what I got:
    ><BtsActionMapping xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" >xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    >  <Operation Name="Select" Action="http://Microsoft.LobServices.OracleDB/2007/03/CompositeOperation" />
    >  <Operation Name="SQLEXECUTE" Action="http://Microsoft.LobServices.OracleDB/2007/03/CompositeOperation" />
    > </BtsActionMapping>
    Now as you can see the Composite schema has 2 operations one is from an Oracle VIEW and the second one is an Oracle SQL querry.
    please if someone could assist me with this issue?
    Message Schemas for the Composite Operation
    Message Schemas for the Composite Operation

    For Composite Operations you don't use the Action Mapping Xml for both the SQL Server and Oracle bindings.
    The Action for Oracle Composite Operations is:
    http://Microsoft.LobServices.OracleDB/2007/03/CompositeOperation
    by itself.  No Xml or anything.

  • Install a Test/Dev instance for SAP MII.

    Hi,
    I want to install a test/development instance for SAP MII on my laptop [2 GB RAM].
    Per my understanding, for this i would need set up SAP NetWeaver CE instance and deploy SAP MII 12.1 component.
    I also want do some custom development & integration with SAP through MII to SAP ME.
    As per Master Guide SAP MII 12.1.pdf, we need to Install SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 EHP1 SP03.
    Since its a test/development instance can i install [SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.2 Developer Edition|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads?rid=/library/uuid/a0a6bd7b-3dfc-2c10-eb95-aae0f777d4ab] and deploy MII.?
    Or do i need to have some specific version of Netweaver CE.
    Please let me know what are steps to install a Test/Dev environment for SAP ME/MII integration..
    Please advice.
    Thanks un advance.

    MII 12.1 has not been validated on NWCE 7.2.  And MII 12.2 is validated on NW 7.3, skipping NWCE 7.2.  It may install fine, but you will most likely run into problems executing some of the functions and features of MII.

  • HTTP Status 500 - No action instance for path /deletescmeetnot could be cre

    Hello,
    I am maintaining a JSP/struts program already in production. The client asked us to add the ability a record when certain criteria are met. Since this is my first Struts work, I have been following the examples of other actions in the app. I easily added the link to the form (and it only displays if the conditions where you may delete if you choose are met). I made the action and added it to the struts-config file. This is the node:
    //struts-config.xml
        <action input="/subcommittees.jsp" path="/deletescmeetnot" type="com.xxyzz.abcdef.DeleteSubcommitteeMeetingNoticeAction">
          <forward name="success" path="/subcommittees.jsp" />
          <forward name="failure" path="/subcommittees.jsp" />
        </action>These are the first two lines of the action:
    //DeleteSubcommitteeMeetingNoticeAction.java
    public class DeleteSubcommitteeMeetingNoticeAction {
      public ActionForward execute(ActionMapping mapping, ActionForm form, HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws java.io.IOException, javax.servlet.ServletException {This is where I attempt to execute the action:
    //SubcommitteeListTag.java
                        writer.print(" - <a title=\"Permanantly delete this Subcommittee meeting notice\" href=\"" +
                                response.encodeURL("/cf/deletescmeetnot.do?noticeID=" +
                                                      notice.getNoticeIdField().getAsString()) +

    Found it. I needed to add "extends action" to the class.

  • How to delete BPEL instances of deleted composits

    Hi,
    I need to delete or abort running instances of BPEL composite that is already deleted.
    is this possible?
    I'm running soa 11g (11.1.1.4)
    Thanks,
    Ronen

    Hi Roneng,
    An optimal way to do this is by using the purging procedures on the SOAINFRA database.
    Take a look at: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/admin.1111/e10226/soaadmin_partition.htm#CJHEBIBH
    You can, for example, purge instances for a certain composite name and revision for a specific time period.
    Cheers

  • Error trying to spawn instances - bpm maximum concurrent instances 999

    Hi,
    We have an 'Event Distributor' process which has to process as many contracts as there are in a database. A global create when run would spawn as many instances of the process as the contract records in database.
    The problem is when there are above 999 records, the 'global create' is instantiating only till 999. And after that, no more instances are being spawned.
    Is there a configuration that can be done anywhere to increase the 'max number of concurrent instances'? Typically we expect upto 3000 contracts as maximum count.
    This is an urgent issue. Any quick clue/suggestion/direction would be of great use.
    Thanks in advance,
    Pavan.

    Instead of using a Global Creation, you might want to consider using a Global Automatic to create the work item instances. Set the Global Automatic's property to poll based on a time interval.
    Inside the Global Automatic's method you'd have logic that reads the rows in your database that read your contract records in a "for" loop. Before getting into the loop, initialize a counter (e.g. "i as Int = 0"). Inside the loop, test the counter to see if it exceeds 995 (or some number less than 999). If it does then either "exit" or "break" out of the loop.
    As you are reading the contract records, are you updating the rows in the database to indicate that they have been processed? If this is the case, then when the Global Automatic fires off again it will pick up with the next 995 records of unprocessed contract records. If you are not updating the rows in the database to indicate that they have been processed, there are a couple other techniques (e.g. store the last updated row in another table or using a Server Session variable) that will need to be used to keep track of where to start up again.

  • Cap Concurrent Instances From Receive Activity

    Hi,
    I am polling a table using a DB adapter and instantiating BPEL instances through receive activity for a batch of around 100 records. At runtime, there may be a few hundred or sometimes a few thousands of records that are present in a table for processing.
    I would like to be able to limit the number of concurrent instances so that the server would not get overloaded. Any ideas on how to do this properly?
    Regards,
    Anand.

    There are two ways to handle this scenario:
    <li>The preferred way would be: In a domain where your poller is, decrease the dspInvokeThreads to the max number of concurrent instances you want to be invoked. Please note that this would only control the number of instances instantiated at a point in time. This solution would work for [10.1.3.4|"http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12524_01/relnotes.1013/e12523/bpelrn.htm#BABHCGEI"] </li>
    <li>This is could also be handled in the database layer by using a TopN toplink query or by using a wrapper view like
    select * from (select a,b,c,rownum "rn" from polling_table) where rn<maxRowsThis approach would ensure that you expose only a fixed number of rows to BPEL for process instantiation
    Please note that this would have other cruft in terms of using a database trigger for logical deletes etc.
    This thread has more information:{thread:id=994481}
    Hope this helps,

    Shanmu.
