Prevent SQL Developer from writing to c:\documents and settings\

Hello,
does anybody know how I can change the directory where sql developer is writing to under windows?
Currently it is writing to c:\document and settings\... (my %APPDATA% path in windows).
I have quotas on my profile and the quotas are exceeded by SQLDeveloper.
Kind regards,
Marcus

If you want to change the directory where the SQLDeveloper configuration files are stored you can add:
AddVMOption -Dide.user.dir=DIRECTORY_YOU_LIKEto SQL_DEV_INSTALL_DIR/sqldeveloper/bin/sqldeveloper.conf

One thing I noticed in that log is the file path
    file:////mt000xvrpt91/tools/SQLDeveloper/ide/extensions/oracle.ide.db.jar
that is wrong it should be file://///mt000xvrpt91/tools/SQLDeveloper/ide/extensions/oracle.ide.db.jar
    ie, 5 "/" after "file:" instead of 4 "/"

I am OK to ignore the error. But better option will be SQL Developer take care of this situation.
My intention is to keep SQL Developer on a readonly share folder and send the path to end users.
Ideally I wish I could use UNC path so that I dont have to worry about the drive mapping.

    Which version of Oracle?
This sounds like an old bug where sqldeveloper checked for 'select any table', but you actually need 'select any dictionary'

  • Writing video to dodgy "Document and Settings" folder

Minor problem that I've come across when generating video using JMF:
On Windows, if the output location is in the users home directory, the video gets written to a copy of that directory with spaces replaced by % characters!
    e.g.
    C:\Documents and Settings\me\Desktop\Documents%20and%20Settings\meMy%20Documents\My%20Videos
The target URL is selected from a file chooser and looks fine before it's passed to the MediaLocator.
    What's going on?

[RFC 1738|http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1738.txt] defines spaces as unsafe characters, and mandates that all unsafe characters be encoded using the % octet encoding scheme.
Anyway, no I'm not explicitly prefixing the protocol, instead just using file.toURI().toURL().
Dumping the URL shows that the protocol is correct, e.g. file:/C:/yadayada.avi on WindowsRather than doing that, because file.toURI().toURL() should result in replacing spaces with %20, I'd recommend trying the following...
    MediaLocator ml = new MediaLocator("file:/"+file.getCanonicalPath());

  • How to move Documents and Settings and All Libraries To D drive to separate from the OS

I want to move my Documents and settings Folder to D drive so I can back up the OS separate from Data or at least move Libraries to D drive. I have partitioned my hard drive so that most of the space is on D drive and about 100G is on C drive. I can't understand why the old My Documents file structure was changed where now it is called Libraries and My Documents is a sub folder to that and My Music, My Picture etc are not in My Documents anymore. Let’s just randomly shuffle directories to enhance the Window 7 experience. If you have not already figured out I am an XP user. I know there is a way to do what I want to do because virtually all corporate systems are setup this way.
Oh how the heck to I get access to Documents and Settings? Well sometimes programs hide stuff there. Like why does Zune software hide your album art in documents and settings that you spent hours downloading and fixing so that when you move my music that all your album art does not go with it.
    Perry

    Hi,
In Windows Vista and Windows 7, the “My Documents and Settings“, has been replaced by "Users". The My Documents, My Music, My Pictures, and
My Videos folders in Windows XP are transferred to the following folders in Windows 7:
    %systemdrive%\Users\user_name\Documents
    %systemdrive%\Users\user_name\Music
    %systemdrive%\Users\user_name\Pictures
    %systemdrive%\Users\user_name\Videos
You can find your user files in the above folders and move them to the drive you like.

  • Can SQL Developer control versioning of stored functions and procedures?

Hi all. I have a problem with my project, for developing Oracle functions and procedures. My team want to control versioning of that.
I found that Oracle SQL Developer support versioning features with CVS and Subversion. But I think it just about the files not functions and procedures.
We don't want to control version of files and copy it to stored somethings..
    Do you have any idea?
    Thanks for reading this post.

    Since K asked :)
Both SQL Navigator and Toad for Oracle support controlling PL/SQL at the FILE and DATABASE level.

  • Trying to download iTunes 10.4.1.  I have windows xp.  iTunes would not load.  I followed the directions from this sight to uninstall everything.  When I try to install, I get this message:  C:\Documents and Settings\Kelley\Local Settings\Temporary Intern

launch so I am trying to reinstall.  I followed the directions from this site about uninstalling and deleting files and making a backup.  When I try to
install I get this message:  C:\Documents and Settings\Kelley\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\AFYW6D11\iTunesSetup[1].exe is not a valid Win32 application.  I click ok.  Nothing happens.  Any ideas?

Hi - thanks for your help and sorry not to have replied before - I've been away.
I use mainly Chrome but also tried IE8 just in case - no difference.  However I finally remembered that when I had a similar problem downloading/installing OS4 for my iPhone (which crashed it and caused total lockup for about 4 days, resolved only after hours of calls to iPhone helpdesk) it turned out that the problem was caused by my home wi-fi connection.  When I hard-wired the network connection the problem was solved.  I tried it with iTunes - and it installed first time.
Don't know what would cause this problem, which as far as I can see affects only Apple software.  Everything else seems to download and install over the wi-fi without glitches.
    Best,

  • Error while checking in and storing: C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop

    Hi all,
I'm getting  the following Error while checking in original to Content Server
"Error while checking in and storing: C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop" Message 26253
OAC0, OACT, CSADMIN settings seems to be Ok .
Settings in DMS SPRO - in dc10, dc20(data carrier used PC)- everything fine
    -Authorization issues are not there
Earlier checking in was possible with same settings, but now we are getting this error.
From my end i had test the RFC Connection (SAPFTP, SAPFTPA, SAPHTTP, SAPHTTPA) through SM59 and its test run was successful. So the possibilty of RFC Failure was ruled out.
I knew this problem was arised as there is some issue in Content Repository, but not able to trace it out.
If any one knew what to do in this case, then let me know.
Secondly, what are the things need to be checked to identify the content repository Checking in Issue.

    Error Resolved.
I had only executed the below command
./dbmcli on SDB>db_execute SET LOG AUTO OVERWRITE ON
    OK
seems like Log file was full. but now its working.
    Thanks for your suggestion.

  • I just got a new PC at work, and I saved all my files in my profile (Documents and Settings...).Being a new firefox install, I cannot recover my custom preferences (and passwords...)

At work, I was asked to exchange my PC for a new one (...) at a moment where I was completely stressed and hardly could find time to do things correctly ( I had big issues with some UNIX servers consuming all my time, and more...) I saved the content of my profile in (Documents and settings) from the XP pro OS. REinstalled Firefox, but cannot find a way to recover or use the content of Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox... How can I recover? (bookmarks, custom stuff passwors etc...)

  • How can I get firefox to not save pdf files (such as bank statements I have looked at) to my documents and settings/temp folder?

I just realized that some (but not all pdf files that I have opened) pdf files of bank statements as well as other pdf files that I have opened when browsing with firefox have been saved to my documents and settings/temp folder. I am concerned about this for security of my data, but also confused as to why all of these documents (as well as some word documents and other types of non .tmp files) are being stored here. Please tell me how to stop this from happening.
    Thank you,
    Wimajeanne

I can understand that they would appear there if I have the document open, or have recently viewed it. These documents are over a month old, some are over a year old.
Also, it is not just PDF files, I also see word docs and java.exe files in this folder. None of these files have the %temp% in the title as they do when I have a particular document open, rather they are a copy of the file or document that I have saved to my data file.
My main concern is the security of information when random PDF and doc files are stored here without my knowledge.
    Thank you.

    I just installed 9.0.1 and it continually creates copies of C:\Documents and Settings\Catain Kirk\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\afbrfhnj.default\Cache ... how do I stop it !!!
    I'm running Windows XP Version 5.1 SP3.

    Hi,
That is the disk cache of Firefox, where contents of loaded pages are kept for faster retrieval and it also helps to conserve bandwidth. To disable this: '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Options''' > '''Advanced''' > '''Network''', check (tick) '''Override automatic cache management ''' and put the value at zero.

I am just wondering how I can locate this ~5/20/2011 1:05:09 AM Packed: Swf2Swc C:\Documents and Settings\User\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\3xe4911x.default\Cache\F\0D\C12DFd01~ what is it and what are profiles...on mozilla I have someone remotly doing things to my computer I didn't sign up for,

    1. This is where your main Profile folder is located:
    C:\Documents and Settings\myname\'''Application Data'''\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default
    2. Secondary location:
    C:\Documents and Settings\myname\'''Local Settings\Application Data'''\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default
No, don't delete that folder or the files in it. Those files would be re-created the next time you open Firefox. Those files are necessary.
    3. Firefox put that file there, so it knows its' there. Delete it and Firefox will download that data all over again, and put it back in that folder.
    4. Bookmarks are stored in the '''places.sqlite''' file in the main Profile folder, since the Firefox 3 versions.
Some of those files have been moved around from one major version of Firefox to the next to improve various aspects of "performance" and also to minimize file size for automated personal data backup purposes & for roaming Profiles in a large network setting. The urlclassifier file can get to be quite large, which could really screw-up roaming Profiles on a network server.
