Previous owners name into o2 wifi hotspots when i try to logon

My iphone 4 puts the previous owners name into o2 wifi hotspots when i try to logon and i cannot then add it to the o2 devices i own.
Has anyone had this problem?
Thanks

I tried to use an external hard drive from my windows computer that was formatted in NTFS Windows format.  Mac Pro sees that hard drive as "read only".  Itunes works on existing media on the hard drive to play music or movies, but when you try to purchase from itunes store and download you get the above message.  You need to move your library to a library that is formatted in exFAT format (which can be used both by "windows" and mac computers.

I just bought a 2009 macbook pro with an os upgrade to lion. my question is how do i change the previous owners name (like when i bluetooth) to my name???

Your MBP should have been given to you with the original installation disks and OS.  The Lion OS is licensed to the person who sold it to you.  You will have create your own account and purchase Lion if you wish to use it.  Those are the stipulations in the licensing agreements.

Before buying a second-hand computer, you should have run Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test, whichever is applicable.
The first thing to do after buying the computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You—not the original owner—must do that. Changes made by Apple over the years have made this seemingly straightforward task very complex.
How you go about it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
It's unsafe, and may be unlawful, to use a computer with software installed by a previous owner.
    1. If you don't own another Mac
    a. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller—not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine is very old and has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
    b. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for a MacBook Air. You should have received the media from the original owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To start up from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then restart the computer and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
    c. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should start up in Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    d. Some 2010-2011 models shipped with OS X 10.6 and received a firmware update after 10.7 was released, enabling them to use Internet Recovery. If you have one of those models, you can't reinstall 10.6 even from the original media, and Internet Recovery will not work either without the original owner's Apple ID. In that case, contact Apple Support, or take the machine to an Apple Store or another authorized service provider to have the OS installed.
    2. If you do own another Mac
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to prepare a USB device, then start up the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can start from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
    3. Partition and install OS X
    a. If you see a lock screen when trying to start up from installation media or in Recovery mode, then a firmware password was set by the previous owner, or the machine was remotely locked via iCloud. You'll either have to contact the owner or take the machine to an Apple Store or another service provider to be unlocked. You may be asked for proof of ownership.
    b. Launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive—not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the  Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
    c. An unusual problem may arise if all the following conditions apply:
OS X 10.7 or later was installed by the previous owner
The startup volume was encrypted with FileVault
You're booted in Recovery mode (that is, not from a 10.6 installation disc)
In that case, you won't be able to unlock the volume or partition the drive without the FileVault password. Ask for guidance or see this discussion.
    d. After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. If you're installing a version of OS X acquired from the App Store, you will need the Apple ID and password that you used. When the installation is done, the system will automatically restart into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
    e. Run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the original owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed—you have to repurchase them.
    4. Other issues
    a. If the original owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're irrevocably linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Mac App Store Customer Service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
    b. If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.
    c. When trying to create a new iCloud account, you might get a failure message: "Account limit reached." Apple imposes a lifetime limit of three iCloud account setups per device. Erasing the device does not reset the limit. You can still use an iCloud account that was created on another device, but you won't be able to create a new one. Contact iCloud Support for more information. The setup limit doesn't apply to Apple ID accounts used for other services, such as the iTunes and Mac App Stores, or iMessage. You can create as many of those accounts as you like.

  • How do i remove previous owners name

I just bought a used iBook G4,and I want to remove the previous owners name, how do I do it?

Hi, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    You can try the following:
Press the Cpmmand + s key during startup. This takes you to Single User Mode, where you will see a command line.
Type this when the command-line prompt (>) appears:
    mount -uw /
    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    shutdown -h now
When the iBook restarts, you will be presented with the setup screen. This allows you to create a new account, being sure to give yourself administrative privileges. You can now use this new account and set it to log in automatically with this new account if you don't want to be bothered with the login screen every time you start up.
    Good luck!

My ipad is connected to my wifi, however when i try to sign my ipad into facetime is says that it is having trouble connecting. I use my wifi to get on the internet on my iPad so i have no idea what the problem is. Help Me

    - Did it successfully connect to the network before?
    - Do other devices successfully connect to the network now?
    - Does you iPod successfully connect to other networks?
    - Have you reset your iPod?
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset network connections: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - Powered off and then back on your router
    - The troubleshooting here:

-When you restored you iPod did you restore to factory defaults/new iPod?  If not try that.
    - If you look at the network properties on the iPod what IP address is assigned when you think you are connected but actually have no internet connection.  If it starts with 169 then the iPod never connected to the router, the 169 address are self assigned.

You posted in the iPad forum, but you profile lists an iPhone 4S. Does your iPhone or iPad have this problem.
Here's some iPad suggestions. Most also apply to the iPhone. Your iPhone or iPad may show the wifi symbol but that only shows the presence of a wifi signal. Not that you are connected.
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

My iPad won't let me sign into my Apple ID when I try and download an app it asks for my id and password and when i type it in the iPad displays a message saying cannot connect to iTunes Store. However when i do this on my phone it works perfectly. Even when i sign in and out.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so how can I fix this?

Remember, any purchased item from the itunes store is forever associated with the Apple ID used to buy it.  So when you get prompted for an ID/password and it doesn't accept it, then you are using the wrong ID.
Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores, be sure it's logged into the ID you have set on the iphone (since that one seems to be connecting with the right ID).  If you've done this, then you might wait a bit to see if the "cannot connect to .. store" message has to do with internet connections.

You are on pc or mac?  I think pc.   Below is a link that gives the steps, and it suggests you need to down load a controller, and then it tells you how to set it up.  See if this helps any.

If you mean the hexidecimal equivalent of the alphanumeric password, then you can find this via the AirPort Utility, as follows:
AirPort Utility > Select the AirPort > Manual Setup
On the AirPort Utility's menubar select Base Station > Equivalent Network Password

  • Change/erase previous owners name

    Hi everyone
I recently purchaed my a secondhand iMac. I love it to bits!
My own beef with it, that it contains the previous owners information. When I try and change the administrator (in users) to my name it wont let as it asks for the previous persons password. Its already typed in the password box and the verify box, however wont let me copy and paste in when I go to change the name.
It's really annoying seeing "tonys computer" in the "about my Mac page" and "Log off Tony" in the apple menu. If anyone knows another way I can change this, it will be great! Thanks
    Paul

Do you know your administrator's password? You can change the password. You will need your install cd.

You can also change the administrator's password from single user mode. These steps are more complicated...
This page tell you how to get the mac to ask for a new admin & password:
I followed JoseAranda steps and it worked. Walked me through the setup and I created a new account.
restart your computer, hold down Command-S. When you get the prompt, type in the following:
    /sbin/fsck -y [Enter]
    /sbin/mount -uaw [Enter]
    rm /var/db/.applesetupdone [Enter]
    reboot [Enter]

Here is the link from which I copied the post.
    Here is another solution...
This page will tell you how to get into single user mode.
    http://www.securemac.com/macosxsingleuser.php
Basically, you hold down the command-s key when powering on. The command key has a little apple symbol on the lower left. It is between the alt/option key and the space bar. On a PC keyboard, it will be the windows key, I think.
You will need to change the password on some account. ( Do you know Unix. You are in a Unix single user console. ) To find out the users on the system type:
    ls /Users
Pick one of the users and type passwd a-user-name and enter the new user password. You need six characters. One of these account will be the administrator.
The root account isn't enabled by default. I am not sure if changing the password on root will enable it.

  • Removing previous owners name

I bought my Powerbook second hand. When I click the Mac hard drive icon in Finder, go to Users, it shows the house icon and it's labeled with the previous owner's name.
How do I remove this name and add my own label? I have nothing against the person, I just don't want to keep seeing their name every time I use my PB.

I actually did set up a new admin account. I see it there. I do not see the file with the previous owner's name in the preference/accounts window. That only shows up in the Finder window. It's labeled with the 'home' icon. In Finder, under 'users' I see his name with the house icon and the 'new' account I supposedly set up with the new name and a folder icon yet it has none of the files the 'home' folder has. It seems this new account I set up is not tied into the computer. All the computer files are still in the folder with the old owner's name. I tried deleting that file but was not allowed.
I can't change the name of the folder and I can't delete it. Very frustrating.

  • Can't get previous owners name of my Zire 31

After doing a hard reset I was able to get a piece of software off the handheld.  His name kept coming up on the handheld so I went into palm desktop and removed all users.  Only my name remains.  I then did a sync and low and behold his name still comes up on the handheld.  I then pressed the power button on the handheld while pressing the reset button, and now the darned thing will not shut off???  I am not computer illiterate, but this thing has me baffled.

Sounds like you did not do the Hard Reset correctly.
    To perform a Hard Reset:
While pressing and holding the Power button down, tap and release the Reset button in back and continue to hold the Power button down. When the grey Palm logo appears, you can release the Power button.
You should now see the warning page in about 5 languages. Press the UP direction on the 5-way pad to complete the task. Your Palm will reset itself several times as it re-installs the original programs and erases all your previous data.
The device should now have no name associated with it.  When you HotSync, it should ask you "Which User Name do you want to use, or Create?"
By any chance, did you simply "Rename" his user name to your name?  This would put all his old data (and his HotSync name) back into your device.
