Price control using inforecord

Dear All,
I have maintained Pricing Date Control as 1(Purchase order date) in the inforecord.
When I create a PO, the price is adopted from the condition record according to the PO creation date.
But when I change the document date in PO and carry out new pricing, I would have expected it to take a new price according to the new PO date. But it does not do so!
If I change the document date before entering the other information, the price is adopted as per condition valid for the document date. But again,, if I chnage it to say current date, it does not adopt the new price.
Does it not work this way?
Please help
Vijay

Please go through the following price determination logic which I found in sdn. This will help you to find the problem
When you create a purchase order or scheduling agreement with time-independent conditions, the system searches for valid conditions and inserts them into the new document (this is the process of price determination).
In the case of purchase orders, the system searches for conditions in info records and contracts (for contract release orders), and for general conditions.
In the case of scheduling agreements with time-independent conditions, the system searches for conditions in info records and for general conditions.
If no conditions are found, but the last PO is noted in the info record, the system can adopt the conditions from this PO. You can specify how the system treats the conditions from the last PO in Customizing for Purchasing (default values for buyers).
The system can proceed in similar fashion in the event that a scheduling agreement with time-independent conditions is noted in the info record.
Price determination involves the process of determining already existing conditions only. Thus, if the buyer enters further conditions in the purchase order - over and above those inserted by the system - and a new effective price results, the latter is not calculated via the price determination process.
If the conditions were adopted from the last document and the buyer performs the New price determination function, these conditions will not be inserted again.
Date of Price Determination
In the automatic price determination process, the price can be calculated as at the document date of the PO, or as at another date (such as the current day’s date, the delivery date, or the goods receipt date). You can specify the date to which the price that is determined relates at the following points:
In the vendor master record, in the Pricing date control field, if you wish to use the same price determination date for all a vendor’s materials.
In the purchasing info record, in the Pricing date category field, if you wish to use a different pricing date for a certain material supplied by a particular vendor.
The value in the purchasing info record takes precedence over the value in the vendor master record.
In the purchase order, in the Pricing date category field
The value from the info or vendor master record is preset when a purchase order is created. However, this is only used if you change it in the purchase order and carry out a new price determination process.
The pricing date category in the PO takes precedence.
Example:
In the info record, you have specified that the price determination process is to be carried out with the conditions that are valid on the delivery date (pricing date category 2). Furthermore, you have created two validity periods (from 04. 01.1997 until 04. 31.1997 and from 05. 01.1997 until 12. 31.1997), each with different conditions.
You create a purchase order with the delivery date 05.05.1997. The pricing date category from the info record is adopted. In the course of the price determination process, the info record conditions from the validity period 05. 01.1997 until 12. 31.1997 are then adopted.
If you wish to adopt the info record conditions from the first validity period in the purchase order, you must change the pricing date category in the PO to blank and carry out a new price determination process.

  • Actual Cost of Product with Price control "S"

    Dear Gurus,
Is there any report available where we can know the Actual Costs of Materials with Price Control "S".
In the material master field the actual cost in the "Moving Price Tab" of the material with Price Control "S" is available, but is there any report available for plant level?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Amit Dhanurdhari.

    Hi Amit,
-- Under Standard Costing, you value your inventory at Standard Costs and any variances in Production Process will be settled to Price Difference Account. You will not be able to find out actual cost per unit. In Multi-level BOM scenario under Standard Costing (CO-PC), variances don't get rolled-up to the next level, only costs get rolled-up.
-- Under Actual Costing - Material Ledger, You will be able to find out the Actual Cost per Unit. Variances get rolled-up to the next level.
To explain difference between Standard Costing in CO-PC and Material Ledger briefly....
You have given Price Indicator as "S" in the material master of "X" material (semi finisher or finished) and you are doing Standard Cost Estimate for arriving at Standard Cost per tonne. Let's say, the Standard Cost per tonne is Rs.1000/-
Now, when you created production order for 10 tonnes and received output of 10 tonnes (GR). But the total cost incurred on that production order is Rs.1100/-. In this situation, actual cost per tonne is Rs.110.
But, because you are following Standard Costing, When you post GR against this Production Order, inventory will be posted at Standard cost only, i.e., Rs.1000/-. and the balance of Rs.100 will be posted to Price Difference Account. (and parallally the variance of Rs.100/-) will flow to COPA.
So, it is clear that, though, at Production Order level you can see the actual cost, at "material" level, you will not be able to see the actual cost per tonne.(as long as you are using only Product Costing and Standard Costing)
Alternatively, if you maintain Price Indicator as "V", you will able to get the Actual Cost per tonne at material level, but there will be no scope for establishing standard cost and comparison with actual thereof.
But, the same is possible if you are using Material Ledger (CO-ML). If Material Ledger is active, you will be maintaining "S" in the material master, still, the variances will be settled inventory and you will be able to get the actual cost per tonne. (bothe Standard cost estimate, actual cost per tonne will be possible).
Pls revert back for further explanation

  • Price control at the time of GR

    Hi
There is a requirement to control the price based on the document date entered at the time of GR.
The document date is nothing but the delivery challan date of the supplier.
The requirement is due to frequent change in prices and retrospective price changes are to be addressed.
Is there any userexit or note which can help achieve the above requirement.
    Thanks
    Rahul

    Hi Merwyn
The example you have provided is the issue why i am unable to use the price control category 5 in the infor record or PO.
Here the requirement is  as below:
Price valid from 01.08.2008 to 31.08.2008--- Rs 25
Price valid from 01.09.2008 to 30.09.2008--- Rs 28
The vendor delivery challan is dated 30.08.2008
The material reaches the customer on 02.09.2008
The GR is prepared in the system with
    Document date - 30.08.2008
    Posting Date  -- 02.09.2008
The GR value taken is Rs 28...but this will create problem in IR.
Hence the requirement is to determine the basic price on the document date i.e the delivery challan date of the vendor.
    Thanks

  • Price Control Date as GR Date in Purchase Order?

    Hello Friends.
We have a requirement where we need to take the price at the time of GR. I have tried to set the Price control date as GR date (5) in Purchase order, Info Record and even in Vendor Master. Unfortunately, it is always taking the price as P.O. price and it is not taking the price which changes between P.O. Release and GR date.
I made several P.O.'s and did GR for the same with less quantity. Then i made changes in the Inforecords and again did GR for the same P.O. It took the price from the P.O. only. Albeit I set the Price determination date as GR Date in P.O., Inforecord and vendor master too. We have requirement of not changing the P.O. once it is created and we dont want to change the price in P.O. once we do one GR for a particular P.O.. We need to re-determine the price at the time of GR without changing the price in P.O. as it require several authorizations.
I need to know if I am missing any setting in P.O., Info-record, Vendor master or any changes required in customizing. Or I need to install any enhancement package for the same.
This is a very critical requirement and hence request MM consultants to provide their valuable inputs.
    Regards
    Gurcharan

how did you test? did you always create new POs after your changes in master data? Or did you just expect that the existing PO would automatically get to know about such changes?
Was the existing PO price found from the info record? Can you proof that from the analysis in the condition tab?

  • Can we release the standard price for a material whose Price control is "V"

    Hi experts,
Could you please clarify my doubt that can we release the standard cost of a material whose price control is "V".
Our user is trying to release the std price. But its not getting released. If the material is of ML relevant I could have checked in CKM3 for any actual data existancy. I am aware that if any actual data existing the price could not be released.
But here this material belongs to a Non Material ledger relevant plant. So I cheked the stock overview and for any material documents if any. But this material has no stock.
I m confused how to check the material's transactions with FI entries.
    Please help in this regard.
    Thanks,
    Sarat.

    HI Sarat
    1. You can release a std cost for material with V, but that wont serve any purpose.. The inventory valuation will happen at V alone
Either the material should have a BOM or Routing to release the std cost and MRP view shall have Proc Type as E / X
    OR
You can have special proc in costing view as 20 and then execute CK11N for the material....
Some price must be there in material master which will get released as std cost (based on your valuation variant)
    2. You can check material transaction using MB51

  • Price control change

    Hi Experts,
How to change the price control for a Raw material from Standard to Moving Avg Price (Material Ledger Active Status).
This Raw materials having last year in Standard, now wants to change as per the requirement to MAP. Please advice.
    Regards,
    Raghav

    Hi Experts,
My scenario is our company using ECC6.0, and the material ledger is activated.
Wrongly last fiscal year for one plant nearly 50+ materials created under standard price with price determination as 2.
(ROH - with Price control 'S' + Price Deterimination = 2) and all the materials having stock and values, transactions is going on.
Now we realized that the raw materials created wrongly in standard price and want to change the price control and price determination. If we change the materials determination and control in CKMM what is the next impact for calculating next prices through cost estimates (CKMLCP or CK40N) and is it suggestable to do?
We need your valuable inputs / advices....
    Thanks and Regards,
    Raghav.

  • Cost Run should not be getting executed on Material with Price Control V

Raw & Packing materials are with price control V in MM as company wants to keep them on moving average cost. Somehow finance users executed cost run on one such material and cost run was executed and the difference was posted in price difference. As far as I know, system shouldn't be allowing cost run on materials other than those having S as price control.
Question is: How to ensure system sends error if cost run is attempted to be executed on materials with Price Control V?

    Hi
If you are executing cost run using CK40N, it releases the cost for all the materials i.e. both for the header and the components
the components may be usually valuated at V. So, the std price update for these will be only for information purposes and it wont revaluate your inventory for sure... This cant post to price difference.... Price diff upon std cost release will apply only to those materials which have price control S
However, if you dont want to release the cost for V items, you can specify them in the exclusion list... In Ck40N selection parameters you specify your plant/material, etc...  While specifying the materials to be costed in the multiple selection screen, , you can also specify the ones not to be. Then std cost wont be released in those cases

  • Price control V and price determination 3

In the  material master record 'price control is given as V and price determination indicator as 3 . With this combination , in the sale order pricing, which price would be picked up by VPRS condition ?   Material ledger is activated for this material .
    Regards
    Mahesh .

    hi,
For Make to order scenerio, the price of finished goods will be Standard price ' s'. for Raw material it will be Moving average price"v".
For VPRS condition it will take Standard price of product.
if ur using with Quantity structure, then the price of Raw material in BOM and routing will be shown in ck11n.
Better to take EK02 Condition in pricing procedure with maitaining Requirement class and type.
It will automatically show the price of finished product  when u click on cost calculation tab in sales order.

  • Change of Price Control indicator.

    Hi,
Under what conditions a maerial price control indicator can be changed from 'S' to 'V" and vice versa.
    Regards,
    R. Dillibabu.

    Hi,.
If the material is split valuated you can ONLY change the V to an S on the accounting views that have a valuation type specified.
You CANNOT under ANY circumstances change the V to an S on the "higher level" accounting view of a split valuation managed material (the higher level accounting view is the one where you do not specify a valuation type.).
The reason you cannot is due to the fact that each valuation type below this higher level can have a different price and different stock quantities and so the higher level HAS to be an AVERAGE of the lower levels, managed by the system.
There is no reason why you would ever want to change the higher level view from a V to an S because this view is not used for anything. It simply stores the average price and total value of stock across all valuation types. It is not used in any business transactions.
Why do you want to change it from a V to an S?

  • Price control in material master.

    Dear all,
How can i change the Price control key(V to S) in material master.
and what are the implication after change the price control.
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Vishal Garg

    Hello
In the SAP System, there are two types of price control:
Standard price & Moving average price.
These two types of price control differ in how they handle price variances resulting from goods receipts or invoice receipts.
Changing the Type of Price Control
Under certain conditions, you can change the type of price control:
From standard price to moving average price
You can make this change at any time. The moving average price (which until now has been updated for informational purposes only) replaces the standard price and is used for valuation from now on.
From moving average price to standard price
You cannot make this change in the following two cases:
If the material master record is set up as a valuation header record for a material subject to split valuation
If the standard price comes from costing and is not equal to the moving average price
If the change is possible, the moving average price becomes the standard price, which is then used for valuation.
You change the type of price control by overwriting the price control indicator in the material master record with the new indicator.
Changing the type of price control for a material does not change the value of the material stock, since in both cases the current price becomes the new price.
    An example is given below:
Standard price to Moving average price
    Material A
    Price control: S
    Moving average Price: 8
    Standard Price: 10
    Total Stock: 100
    Total Stock value: 1000
Now we change the material price control to 'V'. Then
    Material A
    Price control: M
    Moving average price:10
    Standard price: 10
    Total Stock: 100
    Total Stock value: 1000
    Moving average to standard price
    Material B
    Price control: V
    Moving average Price: 8
    Standard Price: 0
    Total Stock: 100
    Total Stock value: 800
Now we change the material price control to 'S'. Then
    Material B
    Price control: S
    Moving average price:8
    Standard price: 8
    Total Stock: 100
    Total Stock value: 800
Hope this will clear your doubts.

  • Price control

    Hi All,
I am new to SAP MM,
What is the main difference between standard price and moving average price, And While I am creating the Material  (Material Type is Drinks) it will take Moving Average Price(V) Only, We cant able to change this, Why?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sudheer.

    HI,
    Use
In the SAP System, there are two types of price control:
    Standard price
    Moving average price
These two types of price control differ in how they handle price variances resulting from goods receipts or invoice receipts.
    Integration
You determine the price control that should be used for a material when you create the material and enter the accounting data for it. You enter one of the following indicators in the Price control field to determine how the price is controlled:
    S for standard price control
V for moving average price control
    Standard Price
All inventory postings are carried out at the standard price
Variances are posted to price difference accounts
    Variances are updated
    Price changes can be monitored
If a material is assigned a standard price (S), the value of the material is always calculated at this price. If goods movements or invoice receipts contain a price that differs from the standard price, the differences are posted to a price difference account. The variance is not taken into account in valuation.
    Moving Average Price
Goods receipts are posted at the goods receipt value.
The price in the material master is adjusted to the delivered price.
Price differences occur only in exceptional circumstances.
Manual price changes are usually unnecessary. However, they are possible.
If a material is assigned a moving average price (MAP), the price is automatically adjusted in the material master record when price variances occur. If goods movements or invoice receipts are posted using a price that differs from the moving average price, the differences are posted to the stock account; as a result, the moving average price and the value of the stock change.
If drinks is your material type then what habe you defined price control in OMS2? from which material type did you copy to create drinks as your material type?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kiran

  • Price control for ML & Batch valution

    Hi,
We are implementing ECC 6.0 with IS Mill in an integrated steel plant. They manufacture Hot rolled, Cold rolled and Galvanized flat steel products starting with hot briquette iron. All production is in-house. The product structure is multi level. We have proposed to use multi level variant configuration (from the slab stage onwards) since there are a huge number of variants of the products that a customer may order. Thus a single configurable material number can represent thousands of variants. It is primarily a make-to-order scenario with mass production.. However there is considerable movement of materials across sales order segments and plant stock due to business constraints. A basic requirement of the client is the need to analyze cost on the basis of the characteristics of a variant (e.g. grade-wise, thickness-wise etc.) . They also need to know the actual cost of production for each batch. This value of the batch needs to be carried even if the batch is moved across sales order segments and plant stock.
We are proposing to use Batch valuation (which is recommended as a best practice by SAP in such scenarios) to address these requirements. However the client also needs the rollup of the variances for the previous stages of production to the next stage up to the finished product. The same is only possible with the activation of Material Ledger & Actual Costing.
However we understand that batch valuation requires the material to be valuated at moving average price “V” whereas for single/multi level price determination Standard price “S” is a must.
We request your advice whether there is any way to avoid this apparent contradiction between price control requirements of batch valuation and material ledger.
    Regards
    Ramesh

    Hi Ramesh,
I agree with Umut's statement: You can use price control S for the single valaued batches.
Your scenario is very interesting to me. I am working in the Mill Products IBU at SAP and we have currently a project running in order to create more flexibility for logistics in using materials that were configured for another sales orders. In such a scenario material valuation and cost order varainace analyis suffers.
A way out of it is the use of  a modified make-to-stock with batch valuation and actual costing. So it appears very similar to your scenario. We will include our scenario in a best practice for flat steel (China) which is currently under development. Would be interesting to   compare with your experiences.
Since you write they want to analyze based on characteristics, also my blog in the BPX area on metals and mining industries might be of interest for you:
    <a href="/people/udo.werner/blog/2007/04/11/including-product-configuration-into-analytics:///people/udo.werner/blog/2007/04/11/including-product-configuration-into-analytics
I would also invite you to write an own blog on your scenario of costing in a steel scenario and open up the discussion. I also intended to contribute with a similar topic.
    best regards,

  • Reg. Price Control V

    Hi All,
I have a material which is both Procurred and Produced inhouse. I have Material Master Price control for this material as V (Moving Average).
Now when i raise a production order and do a GR for this material, my stock gets updated by the price indicated by V.
Is there some way by which my GR for production orders is booked with S. so that my V (Price indicator) also gets updated with every GR for Production order.
    Please advise.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Safi

In such scenario, you could use split valuation. Split valuation is MM functionality which allows you to split the same material to have more than 1 valuation class within plant. This means,in your example, you could define different valuation class for this material(for e.g. 7900-for in-house produce,7901-for external procurement). This will also allow you to maintain price control 'S" for in-house & "V" for externally procured & still you have the same material in the plant.
When you would procure this material from external source then ONLY the "moving average price" would be updated & while you produce this in-house then the stock will valuate at "standard price." There is no other way you could update different price for same material with single valuation class & of course the price indicator.
