  • Feature Request: Project Manager Trim Compatibility with all formats please!

It's 2013, Premiere Pro CC is out, and is more "Final Cut Pro" than ever (thanks Adobe), but there are still some basic things that need to be fixed. This is a DOOZY!...
With DSLR media being used pretty much everywhere, the inability to created trimmed projects using Project Manager for H.264 clips (and GoPro clips, and more!) is simply insane. Seriously?
    Help me Adobe.... please...
    thanks
    jesse

Actually, Kevin works right across the San Francisco Bay from where I live. So yes, he is here in the USA.
You will occasionally get some answers around here from people with Indian names, but we are happy to have them on the forums.
The conversation about how to deal with the various codecs has been going on for some time, and the more people who request the feature, the more likely they will get it done. I don't like to say that the squeeky wheel gets the grease, but pretty much? It does!
I know they are thinking about it because of some of the comments I have seen and emails I have received. It appears to be fairly complicated, but personally, I think it is well worth the effort.
I would like to be able to ingest subclips from Prelude without transcoding (I don't use Prelude because it is useless to me without this feature). Once ingested, if I only use part of a clip, I want it trimmed in the Project Manager to just the footage I might need in the future if I have to make minor adjustments. And yes, that includes handles. So if handles solve part of the problem, that's fine.

  • OMF, XML, and project management all failing with exports.

I'm having trouble pinning down what exactly is going on but I'm unable to export any of these. OMF takes much longer than normal and ends with a very long export log. When I use try creating a new project via project management, the export claims to have failed.

Ok ... totally PC here and not the most experienced person around by a few thousand or so ... but I'll make a stab.
First, is the footage and export locations on "internal" drives (connected directly to your mobo w/high-speed connections) or is one or the other remote/network or otherwise a slower connection?
Second ... Plural Eyes modified footage on the Mac has resulted in quite a few threads around here ... there've been some hiccups with that combo'd with PrPro. So ... there's something to consider. You might see if some footage you've got that isn't Plural-Eyed has the same issues. If not ... well ... there's the problem.

  • Compare Oracle Project Management and Primavera

    Hi All,
We are using Primavera today and it is not integrated to Oracle.
We are also currently implementing Oracle Projects Management (R12.1.3) and trying to evaluate if Primavera can be replaced by Projects Management. Based upon my little experience with Primavera - I see some advantages of Primavera over Projects Management e.g.
    a. Primavera is more user friendly than Oracle Projects Management.
Primavera: easy to create workplan; configurable views; generate reports with gantt charts
    b. Primavera has scheduling engine to derive schedules based upon dates/duration/logic while Project Managment does not have it.
    c. Gantt charts are better in Primavera than Oracle Projects Management.
Has anyone also done similar kind of analysis and evaluated the need of Primavera integration with Oracle Projects Management? I would appreciate if you can share your inputs.
    Thanks,
    Nitin

    Hi,
I have used both the product. For project management i would suggest to use primavera for the same reason u mentioned.
the only disadvanage in primavera is it is not integrated with ERP.
Now oracle provide a AIA PIP integration package to integrate Primavera with oracle Projects(Limited integration). Use primaver for Project managment and oracle for Project Costing and Billing

    Overview
The PMI (Project Management Institute) has three levels of certification, starting with the CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) which is the basic level and is intended as certification for project team members. The PMP (Project Management Professional) is the second, higher level of project management and considered the standard of all PM certifications. Individuals who have passed the PMP certification test successfully and have met the PMI requirements for documenting their professional experience are entitled to use the abbreviation PMP with their names. A new certification, PgMP (Program Management Professional) has been introduced by the PMI in late 2007, for Program Managers.
    Verification
Certification claims can be verified through the PMI's Web site at www.pmi.org/CertApp/Registry.aspx
    [ Eligibility Criteria
A high school diploma is required to be certified. A Project Management Professional has also met specific education and experience requirements, has agreed to adhere to a code of professional conduct, and has passed an examination designed to objectively assess and measure project management knowledge. In addition, a PMP must satisfy continuing certification requirements (through professional development) or lose the certification.
Requirements include a candidate to have completed a high school degree or equivalent, performed 7,500 hours in a lead role directing tasks, performed tasks associated with being a Project Manager over a period of 60 months within the past 8 years, and completed 35 hours of education specific to Project Management and aligned with PMI methodologies. Persons possessing a bachelor's degree only require 4,500 hours leading and 36 months of experience.
The candidate is also required to pass a test to demonstrate his or her knowledge of Project Management. The test consists of 200 multiple-choice questions.
Candidates who do not meet the minimum requirements for the PMP certification can apply for the Certified Associate in Project Management or CAPM examination.
    Examination process
After a candidate's application is approved by PMI, he or she may schedule an examination at any of a large number of Prometric testing centers. A variety of times are available, including weekends and after "normal working hours." The examination is a multiple choice test, which can be taken either on a computer or in written form. Candidates must answer 200 questions in 4 hours (though 25 serve as trial questions and do not count toward the final score. Candidates will not know which ones are dummy when taking the exam - implies that candidate has to answer 200 questions to the best of their ability) and must have a success rate of at least 60.5% (106 out of 175 questions).
    CCR cycle
The PMP status is granted for a period of three years (CCR Cycle, beginning January 1 after the exam). During this time, PMPs have to collect 60 PDUs (Professional Development Units) to maintain their professional accreditation.

  • Error in Interfacing Project Invoices to AR - No Active Project Manager

I am getting an error while transferring a projects invoice to AR.
I am running concurrent program 'PRC: Interface Invoices to Receivables' program from a responsibility that was created as per the client project security requirements.
The output  gives an error message - 'No Active Project Manager Found'.
    Note:
    - The project manager is active on the project.
    - The person record of the project manager is active with an active HR assignment.
    - The project manager role is not end dated.
When I run this same program from the standard Project Implementation Super User responsibility for the same project, the invoice gets interfaced to Receivables without any error.
    Why does this happen ?
Is this concurrent program dependent on any menu / function / profile option ? If so, which one ?
    Regards,
    Prakash

    Hi Prakesh,
Were you able to generate Invoice and AR Invoice Number in PJB?
Try run Oracle Projects Invoice Data Collection Test n Oracle Projects (PA): Security Health Check
    check.

  • RSC Files Not Appearing in RH Project Manager

My three-writer group has experienced a number of RoboHelp/RoboSource Control problems in the last week.
    First this is our setup:
    1. Two writers with 64-bit Windows 7, and one with 32-bit Win 7. We all have the latest patches and updates.
    2. Our RSC database is on a remote machine that has 32-bit Win XP.
After a time where our group successfully updated our project, I was given a new laptop with Win 7 (I had previously had a 32-bit Win XP desktop), we have now encountered the following problems:
    1. No one can open a RH project from version control. We go through all steps and when we open the XPJ icon it finally crashes after taskbar status messages of something like "Querying version control." It thus crashes at one of the final steps in opening a project from the database.
    2. Even on our remote machine, I cannot open a RH project from version control.
    3. For some unknown period of time, it appears that the three of us have not had our changes uploading to the database because nobody's desktop RH project looks the same. Out of the three of us, I have many--but not all--of my changes up at RSC. I have no idea where my colleagues' changes went.
    4. An unspecified number of files are listed in RSC as well in the File Status pod in RH but they are NOT appearing in the Project Manager pod. If I try to move one image file with the same name into a folder where the original should be, RH displays an error message saying that it already exists there--even though I cannot see it in Project Manager nor interface with it.
I have used RH for 11 years but RSC for just 1-2. I have never seen behavior like this before and it's really brought our entire OLH efforts to a halt. Can anyone tell me what I might do to restore, if not the database, a version of the XPJ that has as many of our changes that DID make it to RSC?
    Thank You,
    Chris

I have amended the title of the thread for the simple reason that I don't do source control. I guess you've just added another reason why.
Sorry but I cannot help you on this one.

  • I in need of oracle project costing, project billing and project management setup documents? can you please help me.

I am in need of project costing and project billing and project management setup documents with screen shoot? Can anyone help me?

I have no clue about recovering the info, but when you say you save you should always use Save As. That clears unneeded info from the file. With the file size you have, that may be an important need.

    hi
i think u need workflow for release strategy
    Steps involved are :
    1) SPRO > MM > Purchasing > Purchase Order > Release Procedure for Purchase Orders > Define Release Procedure for Purchase Orders > Release Codes > here assign Workflow indicator as "1" against each Release Code
    2) SPRO > MM > Purchasing > Purchase Order > Release Procedure for Purchase Orders > Define Release Procedure for Purchase Orders > Workflow > Here against each release code assign OT as US and respective User ID's for Release Codes.
    3) Go to OOCU > here under MM, go to MM-PUR,
    4) Click on "activate event linking"
    5) Go for "WS 20000075" and for BUS2012 RELEASESTEPCREATED, click on Detailed view button. Activate "Event linkage activated" and also activate "Enable usage of event queue"
    and Save.
    6) Click on "Assign agents" and proceed all above steps.
BUS2012 is the relevant business object and Releasestep created is the event for the same.
    7) Check SWETYPV transaction for the WF you have activated for BUS2012 and confirm.
Test the same by creating a PO and check the SBWP for SAP Mail of respective Users
take help of ur BASIS person
    hope it clears

  • Project Manager screws up well organized project

Take a completed PP project nicely organized with folders for content (sequences, clips,  audio, ae, graphics, etc). Use Project Manager to trim size so it can be archived for future use at a WAY smaller size then the original (which has lots of unused media in it).Reopen a month later for client changes. The folder that PM created is a bloody mess, because in just  takes all clips and dumps them in 1 folder during the trimming process. Very sloppy and unprofessional.

I realize what you mean. I was simply saying that maintaining folder structures and file names on your PC is the workaround I use. That way I only need the project/raw footage archived instead of my whole project. Since I keep all my elements in the same folders/structures no matter what. Then if one of my co-workers needs to edit something I worked on I simply give them my project file and since they have all the elements file names and folder structures the same as me.
They simply re-link the raw footage by getting it off one of our network servers. Then they are ready to begin editing.
Which allows you to also archive or re-edit old projects with ease compared to project manager being sloppy with all your stuff.
However I totally agree it would be better if the project manager allowed you to do this to begin with. I realize project mananger slops everything into one giant mess.
That is why I started doing it the way I mentioned. It's not a perfect solution but it beats using project manager in its current state.
So I apologize if I came accross in the wrong way.

  • Solman 4.0 with MS SQL Server 2000

I want to install Solution Manager 4.0 with MS SQL Server 2000. But I've the dvd's of Solution manager 4.0 with MS SQL Server 2005.
I've still the software for MS SQL Server 2000 from an other installation .
Is there any problem to install Solution Manager 4.0 with this software?

    Hi,
I would suggest better to have a backup of existing database remove your existing SQL server. Install the  one given by SAP. And restore your previous databases.

I've been involved on 2 projects that included integration into Projects. On both occasions Oracle's Activity Management Gateway (AMG) was used. AMG is the open interface for Projects. We used it on one occasion with Primavera Expedition to load budgets and the WBS and on another with MS Excel to upload budget information. ODBC and AMG was used on the MS Excel project.
