Print form fields ONLY in Adobe Reader XI.
I created a form in LiveCycle for use by an admin (who only has Adobe Reader, not Acrobat) to print checks. I want to print form fields ONLY.
Is there a way to do this?
HELP!
Best to ask in the Acrobat Forum. I'm pretty sure it's a parameter set up when the form is created. Reader only interprets data based on the saved settings.

Printing Form Fields only .. from Reader
I am a NEWBIE using Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro. It would be a lot easier if Reader & Pro had the same print options for printing formfields only .. but that's life.
I have created a form with interactive fields for input. However am having
difficulty having just the "form fields" only print to the preprinted form.
I have created a new button and found coding for the printparms ..
var pp = this.getPrintParams();
pp.interactive = pp.constants.interactionLevel.silent;
pp.printContent = pp.constants.printContents.formFieldsOnly;
pp.pageHandling = pp.constants.handling.none;
this.print(pp);
It's my first attempt at XML / Javascript coding and must be missing something because it's not working.
If anyone has "a sample" of complete code .. it would be really appreciated .. or a brief explaination might get me going.Also the "PrintParams" properties require version 6 or above of Acrobat/Reader.
One has to review the Acrobat JavaScript API for all sorts of version variations in the way Acrobat's JS object works. And the documention is not always correct. -
Printing form fields only on Reader
Before I get to the meat, a little background. We are in the process of converting all of our forms into PDFs so to keep everything the same across the company. My company is a contract packager, and we ship out many items. We have purchased forms for Bills of Lading and Packing slips that have duplicate copies for the back.
We would like to be able to scan the form into the computer, and create a PDF with text fields to type in the information, but then only print the form field data. Basically, I want the form to show up on the computer screen but only print the data that's entered. With Acrobat, I can select in the printer box to print form fields only, but when I put the form on the system and tried it on a computer that only has Reader it doesn't give me the option of printing the fields only. (I'm the only computer that has and uses Acrobat).
I'm not a programmer of any sorts, but is there a way to have Reader do what I want it to?
Thanks in advance for any help!
BretHello Eveyone
My solution for this is simple
In Adobe Pro, go to menu bar in:
Documente-->
Backgroup-->
Add and Replace or Update
in Apperance select
Apperance Options
remove the check for "SHOW WHEN PRINTING"
This solved the problem to print forms with background in your company.

Printing "Form Fields Only" not working correctly in Adobe XI
I have a pdf form with fields including check boxes. If I print this form with all fields it prints correctly, but if I select "Form Fields Only" then all check boxes print as checked regardless of whether or not they are checked. When I use this form in earlier versions of Adobe I do not get this problem. Any ideas or solutions?

Can't print "Form Fields Only" from newly-installed Acrobat Reader XI
I have created numerous forms for our agency on which our employees used (in previous versions of Acrobat Reader) the "Form Fields Only" print function. We finally got the boss to give us the OK to upgrade to Acrobat XI Pro for me, and Acrobat Reader XI for the employees. However, they open the same forms we've been using and find that they no longer have the menu option to choose "Form Fields Only" for printing purposes. I would be very grateful to anyone who might be able to steer me in the right direction as to how I resolve this issue. Unfortunately, the job does not afford me a lot of time for research and "playing" with new software, and we need to have these forms work for us by Thursday. Help, please! And Merry Christmas to everyone!
One possible workaround is to export the form data and then import it into a "blank" version of the same file, that has only the form fields. This would require using a script to export and import the data, and to create that additional version of the file for printing purposes.
Or you can put the file's contents on a non-printable layer when creating it... -
Trouble printing "Form fields only"
I've added text to a document, and have selected "Form fields only" for printing but the form fields do not appear. The fields do appear when I print the entire document. I am using XI Standard, and I've printed form fields before. Any suggestions?
I found the problem... I had added Text through "Edit Text & Images", when I switched to adding a Comment text, I was able to print the "Form Fields Only"

Printing "Form fields only" reverses the "x" marks
I am printing an insurance claim pdf form. I fill out the form in Acrobat Pro. When I print the form document, it prints correctly. When I print the form selecting "form fields only" (It's better for me to do this), ALL the box check marks (the x's) are reversed! So if a box is checked on the form, it prints unchecked. If a box is unchecked, it prints checked. I am using Acrobat 11.0.0. Mac 10.7.2
Any ideas to help with this?
Thank you.
SamHave you had a solution to this problem? I have the same problem since upgrading from Pro 9 to XI.

Trying to print form fields only
I have made a fillable form with LiveCycle Designer, it is a 2 page form that my customer will receive by email, fill out and then feeds into a regular ink jet printer to print off fields onto an already pre-printed page they have in their office (they are basically filling out their name, address, etc contact information to print onto a brochure that is pre-printed) My client will use Acrobat Reader to fill in the form. Does anyone know a way to do this? I have read about making the background non-printable, or non-visible, but my background is an already created PDF that I have imported (with the forms built on top of it in LiveCycle). Doesn't seem to work unless I import it as an EPS.
I also have Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. Is there a different way I should be doing this instead of LiveCycle? I have tried to import the PDF background as an EPS, but the quality makes it really bad and I want the professional quality of the pdf that I already have built, as I have 10 of these to do and the PDFs are already done.
I have been trying to work this out for 2 weeks and still not getting anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Hi,
OK I am back at the desk.
I have checked the help files for Acrobat 8 Pro and Acrobat 9 Pro and it appears that the ability to "import as a layer" was added in version 9. Sorry.
You can check out the help file here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/8.0/Professional/index.html and go to Editing PDFs > Layers.
If the original PDF was generated from InDesign you may still be able to get the layers into the PDF: Help file
"To retain layers when you convert InDesign CS or later documents to PDF, make sure that Compatibility is set to Acrobat 6 (PDF 1.5) and that Create Acrobat Layers is selected in the Export PDF dialog box"
The last thing I can suggest (and I believe you can do this in Acrobat 8) is to start off with the blank PDF and from the Forms menu add a button to the page.
Resize the button to the full page and then right click on the button and get its properties.
The screen shots should look similar to v8. I am just going to highlight some of the setting you should set for the background button.
In particular make sure that the button behaviour is set to NONE in the Options tab.
Hope that helps,

I've created a fillable form in Acrobat 9 Pro from a Word doc. I need to print a listing of all field names in the document (and what they relate to) - when I go to the print dialogue box, there's an option for "print field names only" but it only results in a blank piece of paper. How can I get the field names only (I don't want any data within the fields only the field names themselves)? I see them on the screen in edit mode, but can't seem to locate a way to print them out.
Any help/ideas are greatly appreciated!when I go to the print dialogue box, there's an option for "print field names only" but it only results in a blank piece of paper.
There is only a option 'print fields only'. With this option you can print the filled fields only. -
Saving form field data with Adobe Reader and Java script.
We would like to create some customized PDF documents with pre filled form fields for our customers. The documents will also have extended Java script functionality to check some entered data and to save the form data to a local disk.
Our customers will need to click on their personalized link on our web page and then download a pdf document with personal pre filled form fields specifically for that customer. From our site the PDF file will be dynamically created and partly filled out with our web application. (The application uses an external PDF library for the pdf creation).
They would then need to be able to edit the form fields and save/export them as a pdf whilst offline.
The saving/exporting of the data should be implemented by the extended Java Script functionality (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/js_developer_guide.pdf). Once the data has been edited they will send the pdf file directly back to us.
The issue we have is with regarded to teh EULA for Acrobat Reader. If we create those documents with an external application is the user allowed to open those PDF files with his Adobe Reader without breaking the Adobe Reader Restrictions in the EULA for the Reader? (http://www.adobe.com/products/eulas/pdfs/Reader_Player_AIR_WWEULA-Combined-20080204_1313.pdf, chapter 3.2 Adobe Reader Restrictions)Hello,
the problem which I have pertains only to the Adobe Reader. Because
our user will use Adobe Reader to open our pdf documents but it looks
like that the EULA for the Reader doesn't allow the user to open pdf
files which have the extended option to save data out of the form
fields unless!! this feature was created by an adobe product. But I
created the pdf file not with Adobe. So I don't want our user be punished...
It is actually a question of the law? departement of Adobe. But there
is no Forum for that
Or could you please forward my forum question to somebody of this department.
I don't want to publish a product where the user breaches the EULA
every time they are opening it

Form Fields Only option in Adobe Reader - any extensions
My clients only have adobe reader but they need to print pre-populated pdf forms on to preprinted legal forms.For this i need the Form fields only option in the Print dialog but thats only available in Acrobat pro and the clients cannot have pro version. So wondering if there are any extensions for the reader to get this feature enabled.
Thank you Alheit for your response but that is not an option for me because the designed pdf templates are read by a java program developed using an api called itext and that api is merging (removing) the non-printable background into a single page/layer. I also tried using the non-printable image layer but my program api is merging them into a single layer/page.
That is why i ended up asking for the question if Adobe is providing any extension for Adobereader to show the Form Fields Only option ? -
I have a fillable form that is used by everyone in the office. When the fields are filled we print using the form fields only option to print on our invoices. When I go to print it in Acrobat XI standard using the form fields only option, none of the information I filled shows up or prints. No one else in the office has this problem. Does anyone know why I can't do this, but other people can?

Print Live Fields Only in Reader
Does anyone know how you can print "live fields only" in Reader?
I want my clients to open up a form (either created in LiveCycle or Acrobat 8 Pro), be able to fill out the fields and then print ONLY the fields they filled in, into a pre-printed brochure through their ink jet printers at home. (Basically they are filling our their own contact information to be printed on a brochure)
I can seem to find an option to print like this in Reader.Unfortunately I don't get this option in Reader, only in Acrobat. My clients will be using Reader to fill out form and print. I guess I am going to have to create something different in Acrobat, so that the clients won't have to worry about not having that option in Reader.

How do I stop pop up that asks me, Do you want to save changes to doc... before closing? I have made no changes only printed the file. Using Adobe Reader DC, Windows 7 64 bit.
This is very annoying and we need this stopped as we have made no changes to any of the adobe files. Please advise how to do this.
Customer Service DCCI first tried the version without the deflated stream (so everything uncompressed) against the online repair tool to check/analyse it @ https://www.pdf-tools.com/osa/repair.aspx
And it says no error found, but the reader still want to save it when closing so i still had no clue at this point.
Fortunately, i finally found what was wrong with my generated PDF.
In my xref table, each object reference was not end by a full EOL, i only did put a newline char.
Now i have "carriage return" "newline" which is the full EOL and the reader is happy and close the file silently.
As suspected i did not follow correctly the specs on xref table
Now i'll go and figure what i did wrong with the deflate filter
Thanks for your help.
