Printer utility will not launch,

Question

reciently had an archive to stop a bleeeding of hard drive and now my printer will lnot function
i could not find the driver so i downloaded a driver from cannon web site for my printer i think is correct but nothing is working
when i try to launch printer utility it will not launch and I get "setup tuility quit unexpctedly" when I send report it says submission failed try again
any idea as to what is going on??!?  How do i get the driver i downloaded on the driver list?

How is the printer connected to the computer? Via USB, Wi-Fi, connected to a router somehow etc...? If it is via USB then disconnect the printer by unplugging the USB cable from both the printer and computer and turning off the printer. Next restart the computer in Safe Mode to clear some caches and then restart the computer normally. Next connect the USB cable to the computer and turn on the printer. If the printer is not seen then try another cable. Report back what happens.
BTW the "semantics" you are referring to are critical. On a computer the word "memory" refers to RAM (Random Access Memory) which is totally different than "storage" which refers to HD storage. If you are not familiar with the differences then you can look them up in your Dictionary and you will see. Referring to memory when you mean storage is kind of like telling a doctor your foot hurts when you mean your hand hurts.
