Printing all topics in a book in Webhelp format

How can users print all of the topics in a book of topics from the TOC? I know in .chm format, you can right-click a purple book, select Print from the shortcut menu, and then select the Print the selected heading and all subtopics option. However, I cannot find a way to do this in webhelp format. Is there a way?

In webhelp there isn't but you can get around this by creating a PDF and adding it to a topic.

    When you select Print, this is the dialog you get.
    The output will not adhere to your CSS so don't expect it to be pretty. There's information about this on my site.
    It might be better to create PDFs and make them available from the TOC or somewhere in your help.

    Select the 'All' group in your Address Book, then select 'Edit->Select All' from the Menubar. Print and smile

    Delete the contents of the AddressBook folder located in your Application Support folder inside your Library Folder.

  • Why does "Print Booklet" not print all the files in book?

    My new Indesign CS4 will not let me do what I was able to do easily with Pagemaker 6 and Indesign CS2.  When I go to “Print Booklet”, the program will not print the entire book, but only whatever file is check marked at the bottom of the WINDOW tab on the Menu Bar. I have tried with the files in the BOOK Menu selected and not selected. No difference. I have tried every way I can think of to add and link the files indicated in the Book Menu to the actual files. Each time the same. I have reinstalled the program. Still the same. I am using a Mac PowerBook G4 with OS X 10.4.11.  Your ideas and help will be greatly appreciated..........Richard

    Sorry, Print Booklet simply isn't designed to be used with multiple files. You'll notice it isn't available in the Book Panel menu.
    You could export the entire book to PDF, then place the PDF in a new document and use Print Booklet to print that.

    I have a user who wants to do this same thing. I did not find any way either to default the attributes to anything other than what you see the first time. Seems like such a trivial thing, hard to believe they do not allow it. I did find a program for this called iDress but I can't seem to download it from any links on the Internet. Not sure if it is free or not, but it was recommended by a link on the Mac support site.

    I am in the process of creating a combination TOC that includes TOCs from the books that were added by reference to my RH project.
    The first step in creating a combination TOC is to create a New TOC book in each individual book TOC and then move the topics in that TOC under the book, then create the combination TOC.  Is there any quick and easy way to move topics into a book without doing it individually?  I have several hundred topics and it sure would save time.

    Faster than one by one, do this:
    Open a TOC containing the topics you want.
    Select all topics and copy them (CTRL-A, CTRL-C).
    Open the TOC you want to put topics into.
    Paste (CTRL-V).

    Are any of your other applications going wonky, or is it just Logic?
    I'm afraid I've never heard of this particular problem before, but if it were happening to me the first thing I would do is delete my "com.apple.logic.express.plist" file in Library>Preferences, then repair permissions in Disc Utility, and finally restart my computer.  Then I would launch Logic and see if the problem has been corrected.  It's amazing how much these two steps can accomplish.
    If that doesn't resolve the issue I would launch Logic and go to Preferences>Audio Units Manager to see if all my plug-ins are properly validated.

    In applications that use a browser control or open web pages, there are frequently (nearly always) mechanisms to open multiple links on a page in tabs, print all (or selected) tabs, or print all linked pages (the latter is pretty much universal as an OS call). Additionally, like Links (in IE) or Bookmarks (in Mozilla) can be 'named', so can 'tabs'. Some editors (and applications) permit tabs to be 'named'. As I recall, in an editing mode, Netscape used to do this, just like you could edit a page. For authors and researchers, this would be invaluable primarily because neither are frequented by earnings capable of affording those spendy apps like Adobe or Corel that do that, because programmatically it is reasonably simple to maintain an association of symbolic links, and that Mozilla could immediately become the browser of choice as IE can do nothing of the sort (well, may be new IE can).

    If you need to open a local SWF file you will need the standalone player (Projector) from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    Note that the download is the player, not an installer, so you will need to make the file association manually.

  • RH9 HTML: Publishing Deleted ALL Content from ALL Topics

    All,
    One of my writers was working in a large RH9 HTML file yesterday as per usual, doing nothing out of the ordinary. When he published the WebHelp and Printed Documentation, the results were blank... all topics had no content. When looking in the Project Files pod, each topic was there, but had a red X on the icon, and properties for each one said that topic was "Missing." There was nothing in the PDF or the WebHelp. Again, he did nothing out of the ordinary, he just published those two outputs as he always has.
    Since we have a script that backs up these files daily to a versioned environment, we were able to get back good files without the need to recreate too much work, and I'm having this writer blow away and reinstall his version of RH9.
    Has anyone run into this before? Is there anything we should look into? I'm worried this will happen again.

    I've been using Adobe products with shared network locations for years, and have heard many claims about how working from there hoses everything. I've found it's true for gargantuan projects, and the only symptom I get in that situation is performance (e.g., press the A key within a topic, and a second or two later, the letter A appears). But any non-bloated project has always worked well for me when the .xpj is on a share. We're now doing our own backups onto our desktops just to be safe.
    My team found this forum, with a poster who has many of the same issues we had. Mr. Grainge suggests deleting the .cpd file and ensuring your path isn't too long.

    There's a common misconception that what is in your TOC gets published.
    The TOC is used the first time you generate a printed document. Thereafter, there is no update for good reason, you may want different topics. To update to what is in the TOC you need to click the Left arrow to clear everything from the right pane, then click the right arrow to put the new version of the TOC across to the right.
    If you look at the current version of the TOC you will see some books on the left are not highlighted. That indicates there are topics in that book that are not on the right.

  • Is there a way to use css media="print" to print all Spry tabbed panels

    By setting up a special style sheet and calling that with media="print" I can control all other content that I want to appear in the printed webpage but since the tabbed panels display="none" or display="block" are controlled by the SpryTabbedPanels.js I haven't found a way to force all panels to be display="block" in the print style sheet.
    The requirement is for a seminar timetable where each day is on a separate tab but if you want hard copy then printing all days in one go is best.
    Any suggestions would be most welcome.

We have used InTouch software for many years and it has served us extremely welll, however, the publisher (The Prairie Group) has not, and apparently has no plans to update their software to be compatible with any Mac OSX OS beyond 10.6. Any help will be appreciated!

    You can select what you want included in a list format. In the Print command from Contacts, click the Show Details button. Then in the Style pulldown menu select "Lists" and there you'll be able to select what you want included. You can also select what you wish included if you select the Pocket Address Book style.
    If neither of those options will work for you, then you will need to look to third-party software. Here's one possibility that seems to get good reviews:
