Printing breaks after installing Flash 11.7.700.224

I can successfully install Flash 11.7.700.224 on Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit.  However, when I then go to print I get errors and printing doesn't work until I reboot.  This is repeatable.
Example error messages from Adobe Reader, when printing, includes "The document could not be printed." and "There were no pages selected to print."    Other applications fail to print as well.  In another user's instance, their default printer was changed following the Flash installation but in my instance, it remained the same.

Adobe says you don't need to reboot following the INITIAL installation of this update.  We are finding that we do, in fact, have to reboot.  This is disruptive.
Clearly we've figured out that we can reboot to fix the issue.  Clearly we're not re-installing the update multipel times.  We're trying to figure out what's causing this issue since, as an Enterprise, we'd rather not have to reboot computers unecessarily to install an update that is not supposed to require a reboot.  As originally stated, "I can successfully install Flash 11.7.700.224 on Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit.  However, when I then go to print I get errors and printing doesn't work until I reboot.  This is repeatable."
So if anyone has anything constructive to add to this I'm all ears.

  • Epson Workforce 40  - WiFi printing breaks after installing OS DriverUpdate

    Hello,
My computer (MacBookPro) is a Snow Leopard Upgrade. I recently bought an Epson Workforce 40. The documentation said first install Rosetta if running Snow Leopard, so i installed Rosetta. I then ran the install.app from the CD Epson provided. The installer installed the 'drivers' and when finished popped up the Epson NetConfig application. The Epson NetConfig app told me to plug in my Epson Workforce 40 into my wired network so it could pick up on it's broadcast traffic and (auto discover) etc etc. Once auto discovered i went through the necessary steps to get it on my wireless LAN and exited the Epson NetConfig.
I then went into System Preferences\Print & Fax, where I selected "+". I was able to find the printer via Bonjour. When selected the "Print Using" auto populated. This is where i don't remember what it auto populated with. It was either "Workforce 40" or "Epson Workfoce 40". I do know it was not auto populated with "Epson Workforce 40 - Gutenprint v5.2.3" as I remember dropping down to see what else was available. I then selected "Add".
I soon opened a pdf and printed a document to the Epson Workforce 40. It worked with no problem.
Today, I downloaded and installed from the Apple Software Update the Epson Printer Driver Update. I don't know what version it was. After downloading and installing i found i could no longer print. This was initially realized by trying to print a pdf document, but when selecting the print button, it simply didn't print. The print roll down dialog just stayed there and let me continually select print. In order to exit the print roll down dialog, i had to select cancel.
Goggling around lead me to several ideas and fixes, I have done both of suggested fixes below found in (Topic : Apple Applications Will Not Print) (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2194149&start=15&tstart=15). The second fix listed below I did do, however, I did not re-install Snow Leopard.
Thanks to anyone that has ideas or suggestions!

Try this verbally, step by step:
    1. Delete the folder /Library/Printers/EPSON
    2. Delete all files start with "EPSON" in folder /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources and /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj (and in all other xx.lproj subfolders).
    3. Delete all files start with "epson" in /usr/libexec/cups/backend and /usr/libexec/cups/filter
    4. Delete all bundles start with "EPSON" in /System/Library/Extensions
    5. Reset printing system ("Print & Fax" preferences, <control>-click in the printer queue list, choose "reset printing system").
    6. Disconnect your printer from the computer, reboot your computer.
    7. Connect your printer back, when being asked to install printer driver for your printer, say "yes".

*Problem Solved*: Thanks John Blanchard1 for leading me in to some paths I didn’t think of! Anyway here how I final clear this up: Lay a new copy of Snow Leopard on-top of the fresh clean-install that I did yesterday. After the re-start I when directly to the Pirnt/ Fax in Pref panel. Notice that my printer said “Artisan 50” instead of “Epson Artisan 50” Like did in the past. “Hum???” Wonder why it had that instead of “Epson Artisan 50”? So I remove it from the list and try adding it again. Well here what happen next. Instantly it ask me : Do you want to download Epson Print drivers. What the heck! It want hurt after all what I’ve been through last 3 days. So it download –it. Anyway it was 34 -35mb file???. After that I did another re-start. Now every thing now print again “Text-Edit, Safari, i-Photo, & ect.
Don’t believe that Epson V2.1 for download is same as the default as when you 1st strat–up Snow Leopard and add printers. I do know that I don’t believe Apple should be putting driver into Software Update. Things work fine before I down loaded it. Best advice far as print drivers go “If the the work fine, don’t mess with them.” Hope this help to anybody get to end of this thred.
Must say this was one weird fixes I’ve very run to over the years. I feel Apple may not be consisted in it driver packages.

a few things i just tried:
i first followed the first suggestion listed above, ie deleting all associated EPSON files.
downloading and installing this"Epson Printer Drivers v2.1 for Mac OS X v10.6.1" (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL900). doing so then re-adding the printer only leaves me where i was before where i try to print, but it just lets me continually hit "print" and nothing happens. this update very well might have been the one that i initially downloaded and broke my working setup.
i first followed the first suggestion listed above, ie deleting all associated EPSON files.
i tried to re-install the driver from the CD with the network printer driver selected, and this allows me to select print, but i get the error "/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter/Filter/rastertoescp.app/Contents/MacOS/r astertoescp failed". This error is listed in the print queue.

hello, unfortunately this seems to be a bug in adobes flash plugin 11.3. please refer to the following forum entry on how to handle the issue or report the problem with your system details to adobe.

  • Background audio after installing Flash Player 11

After installing Flash Player 11, I am getting unwanted background audio when I am connected to the Internet. Even though I may not be on any site at all, i still get info-mercials playing on my system, or sometimes the flash player fails. I am using Windows IE9 on a 64-bit system. Everything is enabled in my settings. Why are they releasing this product early when there is a known bug in it?

Sounds like you might have malware on your system.  I'd recommend running Malwarebytes to make sure everything checks out.

  • After installing Flash Player, I lost sound on Youtube and other sites.  How do I fix it?

After installing Flash Player, I lost sound on Youtube and other sites.  How do I fix it?  I still have sound on some apps.

To help troubleshoot we'll need the following system information:
    Operating   system
    Browser
    Flash   Player version
When reporting issues with video or audio, it's also helpful to get your system hardware and driver details.  Instructions for finding this information can be found here:
    Windows
    Mac
Finally, sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player.  I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform.  If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing.  You can verify the use of HTML5 by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the context menu.
    HTML5   video
    Non-HTML5 video
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Blocked plug-in after installing flash?

I don't understand why I have "blocked plug-in" after installing Flash.

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 4.
    1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
    2. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    3. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    4. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
    5. Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    6. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • I updated to flash 11.7.700.224 and now cannot play DoubleDown Casino Slots while in Facebook.

Anyone know why I can no longer play DoubleDown Casino Slots while in Facebook after upgrading to Flash 11.7.700.224?

I did not have any Macromedia file in syetem 32 when I last replied to your question. I had uninstalled FP 11.8, but my embedded FP on Windows 8 was (and is) still showing in Control Panel Items but did not and does not appear when checking version on the Adobe Find Version page.
Before reading your last reply, I did UNinstall 11.8 and then installed flashplayer_11_7_plugin_debug   (FP 11.7.700.232).
This NOW shows up as Shockwave Flash ver. 11.7.700.232 in mozilla add-ons manager and is listed in system32 as a folder: C:\Windows\system32\Macromed with many files in the folder.
The Flash Player 11.7.700.232 worked on Mozilla FF 22.0 for several hours before not being able to play some flash content and then crashed. An odd window kept appearing while trying to use it, I did not copy the test of it, but will try and reproduce the problem, and copy and post the text here in a further discussion box on our discussion.  A subsequent check to Adobe Find Version page shows that FP 11.7.700.232 is CURRENTLY installed and functoning. But it still does not play all Flash content that I encounter on the internet.
I did NOT use the Adobe Full Installer to install Flash Player 11.7.700.232, I simply downloaded the file to desktop and manually installed it off line.
If I DO need to uninstall FP 11.7.700.232, and reinstall it using the Adobe Full Installer, please tell me in detail how because I thought that the Full Installer had a different version of FP in it.
What I mean is, if I download and run the Full Installer, is that also simultaneously installing a different version of FP? Or do I run it and THEN install FP 11.7.700.232?
Thank you for following along and replying, Pat. I am not very literate with PC's and the problem is likely something that I am doing wrong!

  • Problems running Flash 11.7.700.224 on Fire Fox 22.0

Problems running Flash 11.7.700.224 on Windows 8, browser Fire Fox 22.0. Plug-in crashing and/or not responsive messages; browser hanging and/or slow, especially when opening new windows; You Tube videos error messages; Flash not detected on Adobe Troubleshooting page, even though installed; Flash content loads but does not display in window (no frame, or black or white screen in frame). Thank you for any reply, hopefully simple -I'm not technically inclined.

After using Flash player 11.8.800.94 for one day, it crashed.
So, I uninstalled it using the uninstaller provided by adobe then
    disabled avast then
    reinstalled 11.8.800.94.
Attempted to restart, but got this error message:
The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) occurred in the application at location 0x74c02005.
While writing it down, restart reverted to desktop.
Successfully restarted and opened FF22.0 browser and
went here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html#main_Find_the_Flash_ Player_version_installed_on_your_machine to check version.
I could not see the Flash movie, the version checker said that Flash Player is not installed -- even though it shows Shockwave Flash 11.8.800.94 installed on the plugins list on Fire fox add-ons manager.
Is there a difference between Flash Player 11.8.800.94 and the latest Flash Player plugin for Fire Fox, or are they the same thing?
I have no idea how to fix this and not finding any clear answers on any of the other discussion question pages on this topic.
Can anyone from Adobe please help?

  • Plug-in failure after installing Flash player.

Having terrible trouble getting Flash player to work in Safari 6.3.1 on OS X 10.7.5
It all started after installing a beta version of Firefox... that seems to break the plug-in. I've since deleted Firefox and still have Chrome installed... Flash works in Chrome (independent Flash player etc) but I just can't get it working in Safari.
I've followed the correct uninstall instructions, visited a site, followed the "You need to install Flash blah blah..." installed it and then get the "Thank you..." screen but then just get a plug-in error message immediately in the same window.
I've got the Flash Player preference in the System Prefs window, everything is set up correctly but it just doesn't work and it's driving me mad!
Please help... I like Safari! Don't make me switch to Chrome!
    Thank you.

Ok don't panic, I've sorted it now... after more investigation it turns out Adobe have bollocked up Flash Player 13.x on Macs of a certain age (2006 - 08 I think).
Find the uninstaller and then find a download for version 12.x and all is well in the world.

  • Problem with MSIE after installing Flash Player with sysprep

    Hello,
do you have any news regarding this problem?
I installed flash ver 11.6 and I have the same problem on more than 50 machines.
    please let me know

I've branched this to a new discussion.  The issue in the previous thread has already been resolved.  Also, we would highly recommend that you deploy the latest version of Flash Player (11.7.700.169 as of today), as previous versions have known vulnerabilities.
First, make sure that you're not running into the ActiveX filtering problem:
Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer  - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/885448?tstart=0
ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer 9 - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968?tstart=0
After that, make sure that your users actually have permission to run the Flash Player binaries.
If that looks good, try installing Flash Player the same way, but on a machine that has stock Group Security Policies (your PDC may be pushing down rules that cause Flash Player not to work).
If you're still stuck after that, we'll help you troubleshoot it further.
    Thanks.

  • Can't print online after installing IE9, HP Deskjet 1050 print scan copy

A week ago or so I installed IE9, had IE7 and it just was not working with allot of web pages so I updated to IE9.
I sell on ebay and I went to make a printing label thru ebays site and I keep getting this error message.
an error has occured in the scrip on this page
    line:       2072
    Char:    1
    error:     class doesn't support automation
    code:     0
    URL:       res://ieframe.dll/preview.js
Do you want to continue running this script
    yes/no
I have just spent 5 hrs online trying to solve this problem. Read many helps/tips and none worked.
Here is just a little of what I have did and nothing worked.
    1. uninstalled/installed printer
    2. Installed updated software for printer(unpluged printer USB before uninstall/install)
    3. Found online that HP printers don't work with IE9, info said to dnlded HP Smart Print 2.1(didn't help after reboot)(also HP web printing was not located in my Added programs, it said to uninstall that first)
    4. Had no idea if I had "bing bar" so I found an dnld for Bing Bar.(didn't help after reboot)Bing Bar was also not found on added programs in control panel
    5. Uninstalled and installed software for printer again, rebooted and still will not print online.
    6. I do have the little HP Smart Print icon on the command toolbar but when ever I clicked on it, it never did nothing.
I am about ready to uninstall IE9. I hate to go back to IE7 but I heard IE8 is junk. Thats why I never installed it.
I have to get it working, I have shipping labels to print.
NOTE: Yes I have spent 6 hrs researching HP's forums, Microsoft forums, and many other forums and nothing works.
P.S. After installing HP Smart Print 2.1 and Bing Bar I did check Manage Addons to make sure they was enabled, they both are.

I have no problem printing anything offline like notebook pages, etc. can't print any online page.
IE9 and HP printers stink as on this past week. I have used HP printers for approx 15 yrs and NEVER had a problem like this before. I will never have a problem like this again, as soon as I buy a replacement NON- HP printer.
I have wasted at least 5 days online researching a fix and I finally found how to get the bing bar so show. In this link  http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie9-windows_vista/bing-bar-wont-display/52f87a48-ef7d-e0..., the guy says check "Enable third-party browser extensions" on Adv. tab in internet options. When I did that the bing bar showed. But doing that puts my PC as more risk.
I also dnlded HP Smart Print and click activate on this page http://h41112.www4.hp.com/smartprint/emea_africa/en/smart.html
THen I dnlded the lasted driver for my HP 1050.....
And it still does not print online pages, let alone my ebay S&H labels. I get error messages. If you want to see those error messages go to this ebay forum link http://forums.ebay.com/db2/topic/Seller-Central/Cant-Print-Online/5200152280?start=24, look for post #31 and all the info is there including photos of the error messages..
YOu don't need a ebay acccount to read the post.
I have had it with this whole mess. Like I said I will be getting a new printer(and it won't be HP either).

  • AIR no longer works after installing Flash CS4

I recently upgraded Flash to CS4. After installing using AIR
has been impossible. I've uninstalled and reinstalled numerous
times. Tried removing all references to AIR within the registry and
reinstalling. Regardless, if I try to open an *.air installer file
in opens the dialog asking me to choose the file to run the file
type with. I can't find AIR anywhere in the list. I'm using Windows
    Vista.
This is a giant problem because I've become very accustomed
to using an AIR debugging app for my Flash development projects.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so were you able to
    resolve it?
    Thanks

By when you write "click on the address book", I'll presume you mean you click on the Address Book icon in the Dock.  Did you ever move around things in the Applications folder?  In general, it's not a good idea to move Apple's applications from their normal locations.
To verify this, click-and-hold on the Address Book icon, then when the pop-up menu appears, roll to "Options", then to "Show in Finder".  I'll guess that the folder of the resulting window is not of the Applications folder.
To fix the problem in the short run, drag the Address Book icon out of the Dock.  Then open the Applications folder, find Address Book, and drag it to the Doc.  Eventually you'll want to delete the old applications, but in Lion that's harder to do than previously.

  • OfficeJet 6700 - "Unable to communicate with printer" message after install

I am on a hybrid network with Windows 7, 64-bit. Printer is hard-wired to the router (ethernet) but laptops are wireless. Installation doesn't allow for a hybrid option, just wireless or wired, so I installed as wired.
I just installed the OfficeJet 6700 - installed OK.  I also updated software/firmware during the install process.
Windows' "Devices & Printers" recognizes the HP as being installed.
Printer is able to produce the network configuration page, etc. so we know the printer is functional, but when I try to print I get an "Unable to communicate with printer" message.
Windows' "Devices and Printers" troubleshooter thinks the driver is not installed, but as I mentioned, I just installed software from the CD.
UPDATE: I was able to install & print without problems on my wife's Win7, 64-bit laptop. Something about mine seems to be the issue. Also, HP Print & Scan Doctor reports that everything checks out OK, but when I try to print a test page at the end of the good doctor's diagnosis, I am still "unable to communicate with printer."

Sorry this is so long, but I tried to be through in my testing.
    Followed your suggested steps.
I had previously set a static IP address, but just to be thorough, re-set it again with the same address.
I unplugged the USB cord from the laptop.
I began with the device labeled "HP OfficeJet 6700 (Copy 1)," which was set as the default printer.
After entering the IP address & clicking Next, it searched the network and returned this message:
    Additional port information required
The device could not be identified.
The device is not found on the network. Be sure that:
    1. The device is turned on.
    The network is connected.
    The device is properly configured.
The address on the previous page is correct. (re: the page where the IP address is entered)
If you are sure the address is correct, select the device type below.
I selected Standard (Generic Network Card) and clicked Next.
Summary dialog appeared and I clicked Finish.
    Clicked OK/Apply.
Attempted to print. Like before, it sent the file to print queue - then nothing.
Right-clicked on the "Copy 1" device and selected Troubleshoot. Returned the message: Make printer "Fax HP OfficeJet 6700 the default printer" - even though this copy is already the default printer. (Usually when the original copy is set as the default, this copy is automatically re-named "Fax HP OfficeJet 6700.") I chose "Apply this fix."
Summary page said "Troubleshooting has completed." I closed the troubleshooter and attempted to print. I closed the Devices & Printers window so it could refresh. Re-opened Devices & Printers. Now the default printer is named "Fax HP OfficeJet 6700." The other device is grayed out and is simply named "HP OfficeJet 6700."
Attempted to print. (I'm testing w/ Notepad and .txt files)
I have 3 choices in the Notepad's printer dialog box but only 2 devices showing in the Devices & Printers window:
~ "Fax HP OfficeJet 6700" - This is the default printer in the Devices and Printers window. I clicked on Print & rec'd an error message: "Send Fax - HP Officejet 6700. There is a problem communicating with the Printer. Check your USB connection & verify that the printer is ready." Notepad's print dialog box shows status as Offline. I canceled all documents in the print queue.
~ "HP OfficeJet 6700." When I choose this printer option, Notepad's print dialog box shows status as "Paused - Offline." I clicked on "Print" anyway, and like before, it sent the file to print queue - then nothing. This is the printer that shows as grayed out in the Devices & Printers window. I canceled all documents in the print queue.
~ "HP OfficeJet 6700 (Copy 1)." There is no printer by this name in the Devices and Printers window even tho' it shows in Notepad's print dialog box. Notepad's print dialog box shows status as "Ready." In Devices & Printers, when I right-click on the one labeled "Fax OfficeJet 6700" (the default device) and choose "See what's printing," 2 HP devices are listed - the one labeled "Copy 1" and the one labeled "Fax." I clicked on "Print" and like before, it sent the file to print queue - then nothing. I canceled all documents in the print queue.
I plugged in the USB cord again and re-ran the same series of tests.
~ "Fax HP OfficeJet 6700" - This is still the default printer in the Devices and Printers window. Notepad's print dialog box shows status as "Ready." The fax window opened, waiting me to enter the recipient's name, add a cover sheet, etc. I closed the fax window. The .txt file was in the print queue for the "Fax" device, so I canceled all documents in the print queue.
~ "HP OfficeJet 6700." When I choose this printer option, Notepad's print dialog box shows status as "Paused - Offline." I clicked on "Print" anyway, and like before, it sent the file to print queue - then nothing. This is grayed out in the Devices & Printers window. I canceled all documents in the print queue.
~ "HP OfficeJet 6700 (Copy 1)." Again, there is no printer by this name in the Devices and Printers window even tho' it shows in Notepad's print dialog box. This is one of 2 choices in the device labeled "Fax" - the default device. Notepad's print dialog box shows status as "Ready." I clicked on "Print" and like before, it sent the file to print queue - then nothing. I canceled all documents in the print queue.
Next, I used the printer's touch screen interface and turned the wireless connection off, leaving the USB cord plugged in.
~ "Fax HP OfficeJet 6700" - Status: Ready. The fax window opened, same as before. I closed the fax window & canceled all documents in the print queue.
~ "HP OfficeJet 6700 - Status: Paused - Offline. I clicked on "Print" anyway, and like before, it sent the file to print queue - then nothing. This one shows as grayed out in the Devices & Printers window. I canceled all documents in the print queue.
~ "HP OfficeJet 6700 (Copy 1)" - Status: Error. I clicked Apply, then Print. Again, this is one of 2 choices in the device labeled "Fax" - the default device. Like before, it sent the file to print queue - then nothing. I canceled all documents in the print queue.
Reconnected to the wireless network & verified that the IP address had not changed.
Tried again to print using "HP OfficeJet 6700 (Copy 1)" - Status: Ready. I clicked Print and again, it sent the file to print queue - then nothing. This is still listed as one of 2 choices in the device labeled "Fax" - the default device." Like before, I canceled all documents in the print queue.
Next, I right-clicked on the one labeled "Fax OfficeJet 6700" (the default device) and choose "See what's printing" and selected the device labeled "HP OfficeJet 6700 (Copy 1)." In the print queue window, when I click on "Printer, one of my options is "Set as Default Printer." As soon as I did that, the device in the Devices & Printers window was renamed as "HP OfficeJet 6700 (Copy 1)" - no longer named "Fax." I tried to print again. Once again, file was sent to the print queue but never printed.
