Printing with Apex generates error (namespace prefix ref....)

Hello forum helpers,
i have installed bi publisher standalone and bi publisher desktop with MS Word 2003.
I have generated a rtf document as a template.
I loaded this rtf template into the apex database and started the TEST REPORT BUTTON in apex report queries.
But i have seen no report.
So, I have placed a xdodebug.cfg file into the folder java/jre/lib and so i have several logfiles created after processing printing.
This logfiles shows this lines, which i do not understand:
[030211_051252364][oracle.apps.xdo.template.FOProcessor][STATEMENT] Log file 'xdo_030211_051252364_fo_data_14.xsl' is created.

You see, that an xml-22008 Error appears.
In google i only found, that the declaration of this reference must be before using it. Seems to be logical.
But the template is generated by BI Publisher himself, so now i do not understand.
I have no choice to declare references, the xml file is made by bi publisher.
Has anyone a solution for this ?
Thank you for help.
Frank

Issue was solved, found it in the bi publisher options in word 2003

    Apparently, some namespaces are stripped.
    This appears to happen during the deploy (using ant), because the version in the generated jar file is already missing the namespaces.
    The BPEL processes appear to work fine though.
    Why is this happening and how can I prevent these errors?

    I've fiddled around with the file composite.xml and found the following workaround:
    If I change the start of the file to:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <composite name="JIPSYUpdateWorkflowReqABCSImpl"

    xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    revision="1.0"
    mode="active"
    state="on">
    it remains unchanged and the errors during deployment are gone.

  • Apex 4.2.2 PDF Printing with Apex 2.0 Listener

    We recently installed Apex 4.2 with the Apex 2.0 Listener and can successfully print interactive reports and classic reports to PDF.  I viewed Mark Sewtz PDF Printing with Apex 4.2.2 and saw how he is using third party tools to format reports.  We have also looked into the Jasper Report Integration Toolkit, but have only got it working on the Tomcat environment, not WebLogic.
    I'm trying to download a classic report in PDF format with our logo displayed at the header.  In the print attributes section, there is a section for header.  I've tried adding the following in the header section:
    <img src = "http://hr.unm.edu/common/images/unm_dept_logo.gif">
    No Logo Prints
    #APP_IMAGES#unm_dept_logo.gif
    Prints in header:
    wwv_flow_file_mgr.get_file?
    p_security_group_id=3930016164431413%26p_flow_id=106%26p_fname=unm_dept_logo.gif
    #WORKSPACE_IMAGES#unm_dept_logo.gif
    Prints in header: /i/unm_dept_logo.gif
    I've also added the logo in the report region, prior to the columns printing, but no logo downloads to PDF.
    Does the Apex Listener only render text?  Is there any way to get the logo to print in the header without using a third party tool?  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

    Hi,
    There are different options to include images in your PDF exports. What's important to understand though is that with the PDF export functionality we separate the formatting from the actual data. So the formatting is defined in your RTF or XSL-FO templates and the data is stored in the XML that APEX generates based on your report data. We have several formatting options exposed on the print attributes pages, i.e. you can define page formatting, dimensions, fonts, colors, etc - all of these are applied to what we call generic XSL-FO templates. Those templates are generic in that they can be used with different reports, having variable numbers of columns and variable column names. Those formatting attributes can not be used however with named column templates, such as those that you generate with BI Publisher or those third-party tools I talked about in my Blog.
    So if you want to use these formatting options, you need a generic report layout - which you get out of the box using the built-in layout. But you also have the option to create your own generic report layout (see Shared Components -> Report Layouts). When creating a custom generic report layout, you'll get a copy of the built-in layout as a starting point. Once created, you can manually modify this layout to meet your needs. As you edit this template, you'll find a number of #....# substitution strings. This is what APEX uses at runtime to fill in your formatting values as well as to assemble your generic layout based on your result set.
    Now one way to include your own image would be to add an image reference to this generic report layout. You can't use the page header or footer attributes on the print attributes page for that because the FOP rendering engine does not understand or translate HTML. It renders XSL-FO. So to add your own image reference, you need to use XSL-FO mark-up. If you want to add an image to your page header, look for the #PAGE_HEADER# substitution string in the "Page Template" attribute of your generic report layout. You should be able to find the following:
    <fo:inline xsl:use-attribute-sets="page-header">
        #PAGE_HEADER#
    </fo:inline>
    Now assuming you have a file stored in your local images directory on localhost, you could add the following external graphic reference:
    <fo:inline xsl:use-attribute-sets="page-header">
        <fo:external-graphic src="http://localhost:8080/i/cloud.gif" content-height="scale-to-fit" height="30px"  content-width="150px" scaling="non-uniform"/>
        #PAGE_HEADER#
    </fo:inline>
    Once you're done with your chanages, save the report layout and edit your report. Go to the print attributes and select your generic report layout and then run your report page and export the PDF. Provided the APEX Listener is able to find this external image reference, it will now be included above your report in your PDF document.

    Marc

  • Apex with XE10g/Tomcat 6.0.13 PDF Print with Apex  FOP.WAR

    Apex with XE10g/Tomcat 6.0.13 PDF Print with Apex fop.war/apex_fop.jsp
    Hello,
    Excuse me bad english.
    I have a problem with Oracle XE and Printing from Reports over Tomcat 6.0.13.
    I have update Oracle XE with Apex 3.1 and it works fine.
    Now i have tried to Print a report to PDF. So i have deployed the FOP.WAR from Apex Utilities under Tomcat.
    I see in Tomcat Manager http://localhost:8888/manager/html/list that the FOO
    has been deployed and is running.
    If i try to print then i get this Message down to this page.
    Can anybody give me a hint to solve this problem???
    Hint
    To resolve the problem i have installed Oracle OC4J with same Port and deployed
    the same foo.war file.
    Then works and all printing from Oracle Apex work fine and okay.
    So i thing the Apex and Oracle work correct.
    But we have a small Application so i would prefer to work with Tomcat a application Server.
    Becaus of previous Errors have copied some *.jar files to C:\tomcat6.0.13\lib
    but i thing this is not the Problem.

    I have used the <?section:....?> command a few times, and I think it has to be enclosed within a <?for-each@section:.....?> loop. If you are still having issues, then upload your template and sample XML somewhere and I can try to take a look for you.

    I'm just new to XMLP and am receiving the same error.. My error is occuring when trying to use sub-templates in my master template.
    I believe I have the syntax correct:
    To import template file:
    <?import:file:h:///CN_LTR_TEMPLATES.rtf?>
    to call the sub-template:
    <?call-template: signature:?>
    Its the call-template to signature thats generating my error message.. My only thought is that its not calling my import properly..
    Anyway.. Hope this might help you a bit.. you never mentioned anything about using a sub-templates. Perhaps since you formated your computer, your template may be in a different location or gone all together (that is if you are using sub-templates).
    If i figure anything out in the mean time, i'll let you know..

  • How to configure printing with apex 3.1.2

    I am trying to use Apache FOP with Apex 3.1.2 and I am unable to find the place to configure Apex.
    The document I am using is located at [http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/configure_printing.html] and the important paragraph is the following:
    Step 2: Configure Oracle Application Express to use the JSP for PDF printing
    Once you have the FOP installed, access the Report Printing parameters:
    1. Access the Administration Services home page
    2. Select Manage Service
    3. Select Instance Settings, under Manage Environment Settings
    4. Click Report Printing to focus on just the Report Printing attributes
    I am trying to locate those settings. In the page with the breadcrumb "Home&gt;Administration&gt;Manage Services" the is no "Manage Environment Settings".
    Am I looking in the wrong place? Is there a special user that should be used, like sys?
    The installation is an Oracle XE with the Apex upgraded to 3.1.2

    You need to be logged in to the 'internal' workspace .

  • PDF printing with APEX version 3.2.1 and OAS 10.1.2.3

    Hello,
    Is it possible to print PDF's with APEX version 3.2.1 and OAS 10.1.2.3? (Not using freeware- that'll never fly with my company).
    Thanks!

    JasperReports will do this and there is an integration toolkit out there for it and APEX.
    BI Publisher is available, and costly
    Oracle Reports can do this and is still available..
    One question, why would your company shy away from open source software like Cocoon/FOP? It comes with APEX 3.2 as an installable WAR and if you use the APEX listener, it comes with that for FREE!!

  • Can't print with Acrobat 8--error number -31000

    Greetings,
    I can only print a pdf every now and then with a HP Laserjet P2015dn printer using Acrobat 8--there is no pattern that I can detect for when it'll print and when it won't. When it doesn't print, I get the error message, "pstopdffilter/pstocupsraster failed with err number -31000" and then nothing happens.
    Sometimes, the problem is fixed by re-installing Acrobat 8.
    I just downloaded Acrobat Reader and it has printed pdf docs just fine.
    I've asked HP for advice, but they were not at all helpful.
    Any advice?
    Thanks,
    Rick

  • PDF Printing with Apex Listener: XSL over 32k gives error

    I'm using Ape Listener 2.0.2 deployed in GlassFish. We do have some custom designed XSL which are over 32k. We tried apex_util api but get the error
    Error processing branch. ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
    My XML is 5966 bytes and XSL is 36551 bytes.
    Please help.

    Apples and Oranges really.. Why do you want TWO App Servers running on your server?   The HTTP Server requires a 3rd party product to produce PDF files (FOP)... The Apex Listener is the PREFERRED App Server over the HTTP server.  I would suggest switching your access to the APEX Listener based port and try shutting down the HTTP server unless it offers you something the Listener is NOT providing..

    and gum_seg_syo_id = 11
    However if will execute the same query from the our application (VB using ADO) I will get the following error:
    ORA-01843: Not a valid month
    Checking with our Oracle DBA we made sure my registry is correct and includes the correct format under HEKY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\ORACLE_HOME,
    where the key is NLS_DATE_FORMAT (of type REG_EXPAND_SZ) with the value:
    MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM
    I also run the following query in a SQL Plus window:
    select sysdate from dual;
    and got the following result:
    08/19/2002 10:27:20 AM
    which shows that the data format is correct.
    Trying to switch between the month and day in the query (put '19/8/2002') worked from the application but generated ORA-01843: Not a valid month in the SQL Plus window.
    Any ideas?

    try using
    to_char function
    for eg.
    select * from emp where to_char(hiredate,'dd/mm/yy') > '20/3/83'.

  • Using selectSingleNode with namespace prefixes like "xmlsns:xsi"???

    I'm having a little trouble manipulating a document with the xmlparserv2 library. The XMLNode.selectSingleNode method does not seem to work when the attribute in question is part of a namespace. For example, I have a document that has a schema declaration like so:
    ****CUT****
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="..\XMLStressTestCase.xsl"?>
    <XMLTestCase xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="../XmlStressTestCase.xsd" Name="Engenious (Switch) Eligible Test" MaxTime="30000">
    ****CUT****
    If I create an XMLDocument (myDoc) from the file in question and try to execute the following line of code
    Node n = myDoc.selectSingleNode("@xmlns:xsi");
    I get the following error
    " Namespace prefix 'xmlns' used but not declared."
    In google I found a thread (http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&threadm=ugJD7hJ3BHA.2236%40tkmsftngp02&rnum=2&prev=/groups%3Fhl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26q%3Dxmlns%2B%252B%2BselectSingleNode%26sa%3DN%26tab%3Dwg)that points to setProperty/selectionNamespaces
    as qa possible way to resolve the problem in the MSXML implementation. It looks like the oracle XDK has the same method, but I can't seem to find any documentation on the values that are supported for that method (http://otn.oracle.com/docs/tech/xml/xdk_java/doc_library/Production9i/doc/java/javadoc/oracle/xml/parser/v2/XMLNode.html#setProperty(java.lang.String, java.lang.Object))
    Any help? Should I be declaring the namespace in my XML someplace?

    In fact it used to be possible to set a NamespacePrefixMapper that controls the namespace prefixes in the JAXB 2.0 from Glasfish like this:
    marshaller.setProperty("com.sun.xml.bind.namespacePrefixMapper", new MyNamespacePrefixMapper());
    When using the Java 6 implementation of JAXB this coded will throw an exception. Has anyone got a clue how to control the namespace prefix in Java 6?
    Thanks,
    Ager

  • Disable namespace prefixes in Transformer

    hi
    I am stuck in a cyclic problem. JAXP XSLT and SchemaValidator do not work together. (Java 1.5 and 1.6)
    I have a XSD with a namespace.
    When I generate the XML using an XSLT I specify namespace using the namespace attribute of xsl:element
    The JAXP transformer always generate the namespace prefix and equate the prefix with the actual URI
    Is there a way to disable this behavior, that is, I do want the xmlns URI in the root element but not the prefix?
    There are two reasons for wanting an XML without prefixes:
    1) The Schema Validator provided with JRE is not able to validate the message with prefix, but it works fine with xmlns URI
    <rootelem xmlns="urn:xmlns:xyz.abc.com"> validates fine
    but
    <ns0:rootelem xmlns:ns0="urn:xmlns:xyz.abc.com"> fails validation with error:
    org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: cvc-elt.1: Cannot find the declaration of element 'ns0:rootelem'.
    I am able to generate the first case when I use Saxon based OrangeXSLT plugin for Eclipse but JAXP based transformer always generate the second case.
    2) More importantly, I have XML consumers that could use parsing without namespace support and prefixed element will not work there.
    I am using StreamResult in the Transformer.transform() call and my guess is that the internal implementation of Transformer might be using a SAX ContentHandler (XML Serializer) to write XML to the outputStream and I guess one way to get around could be that I write a custom ContentHandler and use a SAXResult in the transform call. I am not sure if I am thinking in the right direction.
    If I am correct in my guess, could someone please point to some implementation of XMLSerializer that could be overridden just to disable namespace prefixing behavior?
    I have removed the namespace from the XSD for things to work. I would appreciate any help with this.

    Moving to latest Xalan and Xerces solved the problem.
    But a new one surfaced.
    Xalan's latest transformer does not handle StreamSource correctly and throws some exception internally (IOException related to end of stream), with the message:
    SystemId Unknown; Line #-1; Column #-1; Premature end of file.
    It work correctly if a DOMSource is provided as the input. This does not make sense, since the InputStream my code is using for StreamSource is ByteArrayInputStream for an in-memory XML and such error would happen if this stream is read more than once without calling a reset in between.
    Please let me know if this seems like a valid bug or if I am doing something wrong.

  • PDF printing using APEX Listener

    Hi -
    I have one report region a an apex page which displays a classic report based on a simple query. I also have a some header information above the report which are the application item information passed from the previous page. I am trying to generate a PDF report(using APEX listener), the report comes fine but it doesn't show the header information that is displayed above the report. Is there a way to do that? I tried putting some values in "Print Attributes" --> "Page Header" section but it just shows it as static text. Please provide your expertise.
    APEX version: 4.2.2
    Oracle:11gR2
    Printing Engine: Apex Listener
    Thanks,
    -Seenu

    You will need to build an Xsl document and load it into APEX..  Here is the link showing how to do advanced printing with APEX..:
